Question: Why do people make college seem more stressful and demanding than it really is? Posted: 24 Mar 2017 04:47 PM PDT I'm a senior in high school and in less than 6 months, I'll be a freshman in college. I'm going to a great liberal arts college on a full-ride scholarship and I am excited to see what the future awaits for me. I, however, have some qualms about beginning college, specifically with adjusting and having to deal with such a demanding college curriculum rigor along with the stress that comes with "balancing" extracurriculars and academics. What truly infuriates me about college is hearing my teachers talk about how "stressful" their college experience was and that the challenges in high school do not compare to those in high school. The last time I checked, college was about getting good grades and building relationships with your professors, not partying and socializing. In my opinion, you have no right to complain about how stressful college was if you had a social life or if you participated in any activities that have nothing to do with academics. I can guarantee that your college experience would've been far less demanding and rigorous if you limited your social life (or even had no social life). For that reason, I've decided that I'm going to be antisocial in college. I won't go to any parties, be involved in any social scene, or converse with anyone except for my professors for that matter. If there's anything you can do to change my mindset about college expectations, please feel free to do so. *I meant to say that the challenges in high school do not compare to this in college. |
Question: If I keep lying to my friend, will she stop asking for the car? Posted: 24 Mar 2017 04:32 PM PDT So my friend got into a car accident and she needed a car until she gets a new car. I was helping her for 2 months using my car on Saturdays and I think it's enough time. She used to use my other friend's car for the Saturday too. She does have a ride to go to work because of her coworker and job is nearby each other. But I hate driving monday through friday so driving on saturdays as well is a pain. I like to relax on the weekends. what if I keep lying to my friend saying my cousin needs the car every saturday and sunday to learn how to drive then she'll leave me alone by keep asking? |
Question: Moving schools and don't get to say goodbye, how do I cope? Posted: 24 Mar 2017 04:13 PM PDT This isn't really a question, I need to get it out. Apparently I'm moving schools all of a sudden on Monday, I don't even get to go back to say goodbye to my friends. How do I cope with this? I don't have everyone's number woo can't exactly text them, and for those I do my mom just said "tell them to spread the word." But I want to hug them and tell them in person. |
Question: Is this a weird friendship? Posted: 24 Mar 2017 03:34 PM PDT We are 35 years apart, but we get a long so great and have each impacted each others lives in a special way. We are very close and talk on a daily, is this weird for a friendship? |
Question: My teacher Called me quiet. Was he in the wrong? Posted: 24 Mar 2017 03:33 PM PDT I am a 15-year-old male and I am painfully shy and extremely quiet (even around my friends). Anyway, my teacher always calls me 'quiet one' and last week he called me quiet and said to everyone around me "Even when I call him quiet he doesn't say anything". I felt so embarrassed. What am I supposed to say to him after that. I just want to get really angry at him. I've never been officially diagnosed but I'm pretty sure I suffer from social anxiety. Was he wrong for saying that? was he being rude/ bullying? |
Question: Will she ever forgive me or is it over? Posted: 24 Mar 2017 03:21 PM PDT Im a guy and I had a really close friend for 3 years, she would do anything for me.. But 1month ago we had an argument because she thought I lied to her when I didn't. She was at my house and she left really mad at me. Soo i softly held her because she was leaving without letting me talk... she later told me she was abused in the past and she said I crossed the line when I touched her. I kept Texting here trying to apologize but she blocked me from everything, Soo I sent her a heartfelt apology to her house with flowers. Later that week police came to my house that I need to just leave her alone because I could get in more trouble... but I cant stop thinking about the situation, would she ever talk to me when she cools down?? It's been one month and I miss her alot. Any advice please Our friendship was amazing and she was always there during my difficult times |
Question: Why did my friend do this? Posted: 24 Mar 2017 03:19 PM PDT I told my friend that I was very upset that I failed my permit test.. She seemed understanding and was pretty supportive about it. Then later that day I facetimed her while she was with one of her other friends. She began putting me down and saying"HAHA she failed her permit test"! Over and over to the girl she was with. She was hysterically laughing and just wouldn't drop it, so I hung up. I told her how i felt and she apologized, but i just don't understand why she would feel the need to put me down and embarrass me in front of one of her friends? |

Question: How to get my brother back? Posted: 24 Mar 2017 02:53 PM PDT The other day I was just sitting around when my older brother came and sat on my face. He sat there for about a minute and even farted. I want to get him back by doing the same thing. However, he is bigger and stronger than I am so it is not be easy. We'll sometimes play games that involve roughhousing where he will handicap himself (like playing on his knees). These games are usually like indoor football, soccer, or basketball or some variation of getting to the opposite wall where I could easily find myself on top of him because we will tackle each other. Do you have any game like this we could play so I can get him back? It can't be obvious that I only want to play to sit on his face and needs to be fun, so he will actually play it. Thanks!! <3 |

We make each other laugh, we like all the same things, and we just get each other. I'm almost positive he's flirting with me and he's done things in the past that's made me and many others think he likes me. However, he's dull over text. Hardly flirtatious and takes forever to respond. Whenever I try to flirt via text, he doesn't do it back or he lets the convo fizzle. He told me he's not much of a "phone guy" but idk...Should I be suspicious? I don't want to weird him out |

Question: I'm 18 years old and my mom still tries to control me, and isn't a good parent? Advice? Posted: 24 Mar 2017 10:02 AM PDT My mom has never been a good mom to any of my siblings or me. She is greedy, manipulative, and always puts herself and her boyfriends before her own kids, and always spreads our personal business around. She also tries to make me, my siblings or our friends look bad in certain situations. Like now, she's claiming my best friend stole her flannel, yet they have completely different ones, and now my mom is trying to get me to buy her a bunch of stuff to "make up for my friend being a theft". She's done that before to my other siblings too. And whenever I or my siblings have asked to go to a friend's house to hang out with them for a while/have them come over, she makes up nasty excuses about my friends and how she "has a bad feeling about them." I would take it into consideration if it was only a couple of friends, but every friend my siblings and I have had are always "bad" to her. I have taken into consideration moving out, but I don't have transportation just yet (I am currently saving up for a used vehicle), and on top of that there isn't many apartments locally that aren't crazy expensive just for one person(and with a roommate it's still really expensive when utilities, bills, insurance, gas and more are all added to the cost of rent). Any suggestions or advice on what I should do? I've tried talking to her, but that didn't work out well. **My dad passed away too before anyone tells me to live with him** |

Question: How to reconnect with old friends? Posted: 24 Mar 2017 08:53 AM PDT Hi everyone! I've suffered from social anxiety since I was about 13, and it got to the point where it got so bad that I ended up pushing everyone away. I stopped hanging out with friends and just kept to myself. While all of my friends were hanging out with each other, I stayed at home. My anxiety prevented me from doing things, and because of that, I can honestly say that I don't really have any friends. But over the past year I've made so much progress and have finally overcome my anxiety for the most part, and I really want to reconnect with the people that I pushed away. I still talk to them for the most part. My best friend, or former best friend (yep, I ended up pushing her away, too) and I still hang out on occasion, and when we do it still feels like no time has passed between us. So how can I truly really reconnect with her? How can I start hanging out with her more and mend the relationship that was hurt by my social anxiety? And I have a cousin who is two years younger than me, and we used to hang out all of the time when we were little. How do I reconnect with her? Thanks! |
Posted: 24 Mar 2017 08:38 AM PDT Okay so about a week or so ago I had my friend use my Instagram account to message her bf to see if he d flirt back with me, he did and she didn t take any action to break up with him.. abojt a couple days later I messaged him myself & said "hey sorry that was "so&ISO" (don t wanna say names here), then while on vacation with my newly bf , my friend messaged me & said "wtf is wrong with you, you ruined my relationship. He broke up with me." Also my friend was cheating on her bf too for awhile . Anyways I was married at one time to a Chinese man & we tried getting his green card and to this day I still do not know why it was denied , well my friend knew about my old marriage and tried saying "I m gonna take the text messages of you saying ur husband gave u money " to the police so they can charge you with marriage fraud. Okay first of all, mg husband and I had a joint bank account at the time so I d spend the money he put into that account (he was working and getting money from parents at the time) within the year or so we were together I spent nearly 9,000$ of the money he d put into our account . It was anywhere from 3500-5000$ a month he d put in there . I d spend it on clothes and food and my husband had a wealthy family , they all had Mercedes & BMWs. I guess my question is, should I ignore her black mailing or talk to her or what? If she was to report it to try & hurt me in any way what would police even do? |
Question: What do you do when everyone where you live is 'popular'? Posted: 24 Mar 2017 08:33 AM PDT I'm serious just about everyone where I live is popular! I used to go out and talk and try to hang with people but after getting bullied I came to a stop! Everyone literally has a giant fan club of people and friends! I cannot find any woman out here that is single and all just herself! I cannot hang with guys because they are all popular also, What can I do? |
Question: My close friend is having friend group problems, how can I help her? Posted: 24 Mar 2017 08:06 AM PDT I'm a senior in high school and I'm really good friends with this girl from the grade below; she's been having friend group issues a the moment, and I have no idea what advice to give her or how I can help her. So there are 5 girls in her group including her, and she often feels neglected around them. They have a group chat without my friend and she felt so betrayed and hurt when she found out about it. She tried talking to them, about how she always feels left-out, and tries to hard to be on their good side all the time etc., but they pretty much sugarcoated everything, and said they didn't do it on purpose (something along those lines). I know they're not bad people since I'm friends with all of them as well (just not as close), and I don't think my friend is the bad one here too. They honestly get along fine during lunch and classes but they neglect her during things like hangouts, chats, skype calls... Right now, she's trying hard to bottle up her feelings and simply try to get along well with them, knowing that talking to them won't work anyways. I hate seeing her so sad all the time, but I have no idea how to help her. It's not like I can ask her to join my friend group since she's a junior and I'm graduating soon. Our school is very small and she has nowhere to go if she leaves her friend group. She's a great person, very outgoing, nice and funny. I have no idea why her friends are being like that. Does anyone have ideas on how I can help her? |

Question: Room mate fell asleep in bathroom,Did I do the right thing? Posted: 24 Mar 2017 07:31 AM PDT I got up to use the restroom at around 12:30 A:m but one of my roommates, female 27, was already in there. So I decided to go back to bed for now. I woke up again later at around 3:00 A:M. and noticed she was still in the bathroom. (My girlfriend was at work it was my day off ) and I'm not sure where her boyfriend was at. Either way I knocked asking how long she would be, No reply, so I knocked again louder 3 times, no reply. At this point I'm starting to worry. I called her sister and told her what's going on, and she asked me to check on her. I told her I was really uncomfortable doing that but I was the only one home besides her and I thought it was unusual that she wouldn't reply. I wanted to avoid confrontation because I didn't want her thinking I was some kind of pervert but at the same time I didn't care I was more concerned if she was alive or not. I opened the door just a crack and asked "Are you okay in there"? again no reply, so finally I opened the door saw her sitting naked in an empty tub. She didn't look injured or sick in any way and appeared to be breathing. I walked out and called her sister back said "She's sleeping in the bathtub" an she asked if I was sure she was sleeping and not hurt or something and I said I can see her breathing. She told me to let her know if anything else happens and hung up. I decided just to be safe and give her arm a push, just enough to try and wake her, knowing if she woke up it would be awkward for both of us. |
