A coworker that I consider a friend & have lunch with almost every day altho we do not socialize outside of work as we are both busy moms, was kind enough to invite me to her oldest daughter's wedding. They are all US born, but the grandparents came from Algeria originally. The women in the family wear headscarves, but I do not think they are super traditional & they are very "Americanized". They wear western clothes, but conservative like anyone of good taste would. The wedding is at a popular waterfront event venue. OK, obviously I know to wear something conservative that does not show skin, but should I wear headscarf? (We are non religious, we do not practice anything.) As I understand it the actual Muslim ceremony is pretty short? Are we likely to be asked to take our shoes off? (I know they do in their home- we do too but not for any religious reasons.) Are there any colors that would not be appropriate to wear or would be very appropriate? I am treating myself to something new to wear! I assume a suit & tie for my hubby? Are wedding gifts traditional? Should it be cash or something for their home? I can not find they registered anywhere so that's why I ask. Any tips would be appreciated, I'm excited to go and flattered I was invited. Thks

one can imagine hospital emergency rooms frequently treating injuries from mishaps when shards of glass fly loose and hit a guest in the eye? or the glass stem breaks loose and pierces through the stomper's shoe and right through his foot? it makes you wonder why they don't substitute a plastic glass, which would be far less dangerous?
