Question: I m getting married and have literally noone to be a bridesmaid for me? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 11:17 PM PST My siblings are all so young they will be flower girl/ring barriers. Don t have any cousins that will travel 1500 miles to be at my wedding. My fiance has three brothers he wants as groomsmen , no sisters old enough either. I don t know any of his cousins. I m a loner and don t have any friends except for my fiance. So I literally have noone to be my bridesmaids. But my fiance has to have his brothers up there and I don t want to be alone. Any ideas?? |

Question: How can we handle a wedding guest who is a close friend, but isn't well-behaved? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 05:24 PM PST My fiancée and I are getting married next Memorial Day weekend, and we are working on the guest list. I have one friend who tends to act a total food when drinking....but he's a very good friend of mine. This friend has been there for me when I needed it most.....he's not just a "fairweather" friend, and he's certainly more than a drinking buddy. He will go out of his way for me when I'm in need, and I of course return the favor. My fiancée is well aware of what he has done for me (and us), and she is equally appreciative. Now the other side... When drunk, he acts SO DUMB. He's very easily agitated, and gets thrown out of bars and clubs on the regular. He's even had the cops called on him, and been banned from at least 6 clubs in our hometown (where he still lives). He is also quite creepy, and scares away girls very quickly. I can only imagine what will go down if he's in front of our family members (some of whom don't drink at all). My fiancée has not suggested not inviting him....she knows I want him there, but she is concerned about how he will act. Is there any way I can invite him but tell the bartenders to be vigilant of how drunk he appears? Any other ideas? |
Question: Opinions on pre-engagement promise rings? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 04:20 PM PST my boyfriend gave me a promise ring which he meant to give just as a gift on Christmas. but i got so upset because i thought he was proposing that we talked and he said he has every intention on proposing to me in the near future and has no intention on waiting 2 years to do so. what do you think of pre-engagment promise rings? which finger should i wear it on? |
Question: Do I legally have to give back a "promise ring"? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 04:19 PM PST Recently my boyfriend of four years and I broke up. During the time we were together he gave me a promise ring (others call it a pre-engagement ring). We broke up and now he wants the ring back. I do not want to give it back because it has sentimental value to me and it has our names on it so its not like he can give it to someone else. Do I legally have to give him this ring back? I know with engagment rings you have to give them back if you do not marry the person but what about promise rings? I am not keeping it to be a mean person, the ring just has a lot of sentimental value to me. |
Question: What's the difference between a Promise Ring and an Engagement ring to you? ? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 04:18 PM PST What exactly is the difference between a Promise Ring and an Engagement ring to you? |
Question: Doesn't the promise ring mean that? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 04:18 PM PST you are engaged to be engaged? Why don't you just do an engagement ring? I see the promise ring as a ploy for jewelry stores to get more money. If you are too young to get engaged, why even bother with a promise ring because in essence, you're still committing yourself to a relationship...that's what a "promise" means! So what do you think? |
Question: What finger is the "Promise" Ring supposed to go on...? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 04:17 PM PST wouldn't it get confused if you put it on your wedding ring finger? |
Question: Is a Engagement Ring and Promise Ring the same thing? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 04:16 PM PST If it isn't then how do you give it to the partner? Do you just say "here"??? Or do you get down on your knee's and say _____? What goes right there if it is NOT a engagement. Thanks. |
Question: Does a promise ring have the same meaning as an engagement ring? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 04:16 PM PST My man originally gave me an engagement ring, but I had to give it back because it was his grandma's ring, and it was the only thing of his grandma's his mom had left. So he gave me a promise ring in replacement of the engagement ring, so, does this mean we're still engaged, or does this change things? |
Question: Which finger should a promise ring go on? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 04:15 PM PST My grandma is very supersticious, and she says it's bad luck to wear any ring other than an engagement ring or wedding ring on your left ring finger. For this reason, I've been wearing my promise ring on my right ring finger. My boyfriend's sister just got married and she is 29. She told me that she wore hers on her left hand. I'm just very curious because I want to do this right! Haha! I have had it for almost a year and a half now, and I still don't know where I should put it! Help!!! |
Posted: 08 Dec 2016 04:13 PM PST Okay so let me start of by saying this: YES my girlfriend and I are a fairly serious couple, and YES I do want to have the privilege of asking her to marry me one day. We've talked about it, but at this point in time, I think it is unwise to get married. I would like to wait maybe 2 - 3 more years to be able to save up enough money to get married, and purchase a home without going into a ridiculous amount of debt. My girlfriend has agreed that this is the right thing for us to do. We're almost finished with college, so we certainly wanna get that out of the way! ON TO MY QUESTION :D So (through various mutual friends) I have discovered that my girlfriend want's me to buy her a promise ring (between $50-$100 ring). I don't want to officially ask her to marry me for two reasons. 1.) I don't really have the $2000 for the ring I'm looking at, and 2.) I don't want an engagement that lasts for 2 years or more. One of her friends told me that all the promise ring was saying, was that one day, I would marry her. This makes NO SENSE to me. If my girlfriend wants a cheapish ($100 is a lot of money, but its nothing when compared to an engagement ring) ring, then I will buy her one and it will be wonderful. But I would like someone to explain what the purpose of this "promise ring" is, when we've already discusses marriage down the road. Again, her friend made it clear that the "promise ring" is NOT a proposition of marriage. It's just a promise that one day you will. Maybe I'm just not intelligent enough to get this concept through my head.... I love my girlfriend, and there is NOTHING I wouldn't do for her. This just seems odd though, but then again, she's an oddball ;) Thank you in advance for you're answers. :D |
Question: Can I use my girlfriend's promise ring as an engagement ring? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 04:11 PM PST So my girlfriend and I have been together for almost 6 years. We're in our senior year of college currently, however she is leaving to study abroad in the Spring. We've talked about it, and decided that we could get engaged before she leaves in January. I gave her a promise ring a few years ago that was a nice simple band with real diamonds because I had the money at the time. Now that we're looking at a real engagement, I can't afford to purchase a real engagement ring for her. Would it be tacky to use the promise ring I gave her as the engagement ring? (I'd probably get it re-sized to fit her left ring finger) She's not materialistic and loves her current ring, so I'm pretty stumped at this point. |

Posted: 08 Dec 2016 03:50 PM PST I am seeing if a gold wedding ring I have been given and ashes could be customised together? I have a platinum engagement ring so would like the golden one recreated with ashes, is this possible? I have only seen rings already made with only a gem of ashes in. |
Question: Does my fiancee need to change her last name? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 07:16 AM PST Today, my fiancee and I went to get our marriage license. While filling out the paperwork, the town clerk asked her if she would be taking my last name and she said yes at the moment. When we got out she said she didn't want to because her dad passed away when she was 1 and she had always said she didn't want to change her last name just because it's the last thing she has to remember him by and she said yes out of hesitation at the moment. Now the question is, when we filled out the paperwork, under surname, the town clerk put my last name because my fiancée said yes she would be taking my last name. After all, she won't be taking it, is this going to be a problem? Do we need to go back and get it changed before the wedding or it doesn't matter because nothing changes unless she goes to DMV and does it herself? |
Question: What are great Bachelorette party ideas for a PREGNANT Bride-to-Be? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 01:18 AM PST I am planning this last minute because the maid of honor failed to plan a party for the bride. I am on a budget. Any fun and frugal ideas are welcomed. She is getting married next weekend need a plan ASAP. Please help me. Thank you. |
Question: Is it really immature/juvenile to want a "themed" wedding? Posted: 04 Dec 2016 07:12 AM PST I've been seeing it around lately, what with photo shoots with the groomsmen wielding lightsabers, opening their shirts to reveal superhero costumes underneath, etcetera. A lot of people have been telling me to "grow up and realize it's a wedding, not a 12-year-old's birthday party". If it IS juvenile, then WHY is it the latest craze today? |
Posted: 04 Dec 2016 01:43 AM PST You're planning your wedding. Your fiancee is a vampire nerd and wants a vampire themed wedding. You're a Star Wars nerd and want a Star Wars themed wedding. She kinda wants one too. How do you compromise? |
Question: What its a good gift to give for a fortieth wedding anniversary? Posted: 30 Nov 2016 10:13 AM PST I do know what gift to give to my parents for their fortieth wedding anniversary but my dad has no idea what to give my mom. He though about a ring with precious stones or other jewelry but my mom dose not use much "real" jewelry excluding her engagement ring (I think for fear of thefts). What else could he give her? I though about it and I am still thinking about it in order to help him but I do not know. I though about a trip somewhere but my dad's work schedule is very erratic. I though maybe a symbolic semi-precious jewelry with 40 beads or stones but not sure if its a good idea and where to find a jeweller that makes costume made jewellery. Pleas help. Thank you. |
