Question: How do I handle this? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 02:32 PM PDT So I've recently gotten my license. I also live in a very small town so the only places I can drive to is the local grocery store or school. The grocery store is no problem. It's easy to do. Now school is a little bit harder because I'd also have to drive my mom and younger brother there too. My mother is a teacher. The drop off/parking system at my school is caotic. You have a series of cones that mark a tiny path for people parking which doesn't leave a lot of room. You also have to worry about little kids running from behind cars and startling you. You're reflexes have to be on point. I have tried to tell my mom this but she thinks I'm crazy. To her it's very simple because she's been doing it for 10+ years. She gets very annoyed and while I understand I just wish she'd understand my reasons. Like today she wanted me to go pick up my brother but he's an absolute jerk to me when I drive. He tells me I'm a sucky driver or that people are behind me. Or tells me I need to go faster when I'm already over the speed limit. Just stuff that stresses me out. She got really ticked off with me about it and we fought. After the fight I said ok that I'd go ahead and pick him up. Now she's saying I'll be an unsafe driver and won't let me. I know tomorrow I'm going to hear "you need to drive more" despite my attempt to fix things. |
Question: Disabled, and stuck in life? Any advice is appreciated.? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 02:09 PM PDT I am 22, i am disabled i can not drive, I am unemployed ( never had a job), just dropped out of online college, i do not have parents who will support me if i told them i want to become independent or even just do more for myself. I also understand that 'stuck' is a feeling, and i have tried to make this work and make my life better even though i am not where i want to be but that seems impossible. I help take care of my two younger siblings as well, i fear if i leave they will feel abandoned. But, i have to get out of here somehow, i do not know what to do anymore. I have no money, and i want a life i can wake up and be happy about. I have no idea what to do or where to turn, please give me any advice, comments, anything you think that will help me will mean a lot to me. - Thank you |

Question: My sister is throwing up after she eats? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 01:43 PM PDT I'm 14, and my older sister is 17. I found out that she throws up after she eats a lot. I confronted her about it, and she promised she's stop and made me swear I wouldn't tell our parents. Today, I found out she's still doing it. I'm extremely worried, what do I do? |
Question: My son refuses to do any chores, what should I do? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 01:42 PM PDT He's 21 and says just because he has a job and pays rent he doesn't have to do any chores (he pays $200 a month, our landlord charges US $1,500 a month). He thinks having a job and paying money gets you out of work at home, but there's always work at home after the work day ends. My son has a VERY different mindset about life and work, are all millennials in America like this? |
Question: Can I save my parents marriage? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 01:21 PM PDT My parents might be spiting up and I don t think they can survive money wise living separably and I don t think my dad can look after his self at all. I'm worrying so much.... |
Question: Should I change the spelling of my first name..? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 01:16 PM PDT My first name is 'Mikala'. I loved how different it was when I was younger, but now I am thinking about changing it to 'Michaela'. I'm tired of spelling it, but the main reason I want to change it is because it just feels silly to me now. I don't like to put it on my CV and especially now that I'm married, I just think it looks worse after 'Mrs'. When I started a new job, a colleague told me she had a totally different picture of who a 'Mikala' might be, and it wasn't flattering... However, my family are really against me changing it because they feel it's a part of who I am, but I really think most people would suggest changing it. What do you think? Thank you :) |

I am the oldest of my siblings so is it possible for me to get a job at a place like trader joes or target and pay my dad the monthly cost even though Im not a New York resident anymore? Question: How to get over this feel of disappointment? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 11:28 AM PDT I ve study for the pass 4 months (not every day, but 2 hours a day only) and i still fail to get my permit again. Ugh, if my mother would just have helped me practice when i FIRST got my driver permit i wouldnt need to retake it again because im tire of her b*tching at about taking me every (which she doesntv mostly, my friends are the one who pick me up) and the only places she take me are school and back home even then she b*tch how much it s a pain. The worst part is, she said she doesnt want to waste money on me getting my permit, so i guess my driving skill isnt worth enough to help. Ugh, i hate this and i hate taking the bus too, so dont bother on saying "why dont u take the bus, huh?" Well there arent no bus stop near my area. |
Question: I want to be with my baby's father? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 10:47 AM PDT Right now I am a mother of a 3 month old baby, in nursing school, as well as have a job. I am only 19 years old and the father of my baby and I have been together for about 5 years on and off. He picked up drinking and I broke up with him when I was 6 months pregnant because he kept getting in trouble with the law. He is now in a program for his drinking and we are trying to work things out. I really want to get an apartment with him and try out the whole family thing. I love him dearly, but he does work an awful lot. I just want to at least try. My parents who I am living with has also expressed their concerns that they don't want us back together, but my heart is saying different. My mind understands though that this may not be the best thing, but I want a family with him so bad. The disapproval exhausts me and I just want to feel normal without upsetting my family. Advice and words of wisdom? I mean if it doesn't work out, at least I tried... |
Question: Boyfriend told me to get abortion but so did my mom why didn't anyone wanna help me? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 09:04 AM PDT My mom told me to get abortion because she found out my boyfriend was egging me on for abortion so in her mind thougjt why should I be Sattled down by a baby that the man doesn't want. That because I was working minimum wage I will struggle and that I'd have to move out because she didn't want kids in her house especially by a man that was like my boyfriend so even thought my boyfriend is a jerk I think it's messed up that she sunk that low like him. I ended up getting abortion because I didn't have anywhere e to go. I just feel like I was let down by the two people in supposed to count on. Question: How can I help to get my parents to fall back in love? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 07:50 AM PDT My parents told me the other day that they are not in love with each other anymore, but they are working on falling back in love and won't be divorcing each other. I want to plan date ideas for them and help them fall back in love but I need help. I'm 16 and have money so that's okay. Also, what could be nice things my dad could do for mom or my mom could do for dad? I just really want to help them out. Thank you! ☆ Sent from iOS Dr. Know! 1.0.03 |
Question: Why does my son hate me so much? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 05:55 AM PDT My son is about to be 21. He went to university right after high school and is majoring in law and minoring in politics. He wants to go to law school. But he never calls me. Sometimes I don't get to talk him for more than a year. It was the same thing through high school. He's like that with everyone from his school to which is why I'm so worried. He never got into the girls or the partying. In fact he used to take advantage of his friends after they had been drinking and cheat them out of their money and lying to them but he never did the drinking himself. He betrayed so many of his classmates and didn't even care. He'd just move on to the next. |

Posted: 02 Oct 2017 04:56 AM PDT Like I signed my name Dave instead of David on her birthday card and she got mad until I gave her a giant hug. She is always putting down my brother who we are now estranged from and praising my sister (the only daughter). I am forgotten and a tool of hers to show her glory. I am 20, my infallible and godly sister is 22 and my hated brother is 25. I get in huge trouble if I ever try to speak kindly of my brother who she hates or my father (her ex-husband). I am seeing other families and that not all families are the mothers expected to be worshiped. How do I handle my narcissistic mother? I cannot confront her or I get hurt (not physically but she goes from 1 to 100 on an anger scale). My Mom's parents and sister worship her as well (or maybe fear her). So if I displease my Mom I will lose my grandparents. My brother who she hates now is cut off by our grandparents and never included in family activities anymore. |
Posted: 02 Oct 2017 04:50 AM PDT I am supposed to hate who my parents hate. Yet, I have no problem with this aunt though I agree she is not nice to her siblings. |
Question: Please someone help me? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 04:49 AM PDT I am so scared.I am afraid of everything. My mother is a bully.i feel so scared in her presence.if i say something she yells at me and beats me.She loves my siblings.i dont know what to do i have no where else to live. |
Posted: 02 Oct 2017 04:48 AM PDT They see my anxiety as I am ridiculous. I am an adult now so it is not the kind of thing where I go to them daily or anything. Having my psychologist explain it only worked when I was a minor. Now they are just under the impression of "well so it's our fault". I just want understanding instead of criticism when I get fixated on something. I fear loss of family after their divorce and my Mom keeping me from my Dad whenever she could (I was used as a pawn). |
Question: My girlfriend's brother humped my *** after we drink beer? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 04:25 AM PDT It's unusual my gf is still at school so to cut the boredom of waiting me and hero brother played Xbox all day and drank beer afterwards. After a couple of bottles, i can tell her brother is drunk already. I was standing playing Xbox when suddenly her brother humped my butt! So I wrestled him to the ground with my fat abdomen and yelled "hey you are so drunk dude!" My gf arrived and I told her what happened she giggled so loud and told me her brother does crazy things when he is drunk. She told me stories that one time his brother was so drunk he came to the bathroom kicking the door and he started yelling at the toilet as if it was a person. |
Question: This one is kinda long. i think i should call CPS? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 04:23 AM PDT i asked my parents about a month ago if i could cut a slit in my eyebrow. they said no... last night i told my mom i was cutting a slit in my eyebrow and she didnt say anything about it, so i just did it. Then i went upstairs to show my dad and he freaked out and calle dme various names (tramp, wh*re, sl*t, a hole, ect) then he told me to f off. Somehow it excalated to where he was in my face, and grasping onto my wrists like i was air and he was drowning. i tols him to get out of my face, and he threw me on the ground, told me to get up, then threw me on the ground again and said "get up, lazy bi*ch". when i was thrown down, i hit some bottles and knocked them down and he yelled at me to "pick up my mess" (my mom was on the phone the whole time so she could hear everything). The second time he threw me down my head bounced off the ground and i now have a very large lump, and a bruise on my neck because he was holding me down. Iv'e called CPS before but nothing was to make of the case, and my parents hated me for it. It got so bad to the point where i was gonna leave and go to my best friends house down the road, but i wasnt sure what to do. Please help |
Question: Self neglecting father who won't clean house or get rid of mice, what should I do? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 02:49 AM PDT My 69 year old father a bit of a hoarder. To the point where we have mice in the house now. He doesn't listen to my brother, me or my husband. My husband I moved in to take care of him. My father, yes, has a lot of things to where half the hallway to his room in blocked off. If he had a heart attack back there, paramedics can't get to him in time. But recently something else has happened. My father will sit in his room and will feed the mice that has came in do to the hoarding and it getting colder. He thinks watching them eat is "cute". It's nasty and can cause diseases. We are already feeling the effects from the mice, nausea, fever, headaches. But my father refuses to do anything about it. Is this something I can call the Adult Protection Services about? Would this be considered self neglect? Did I forget to menthe has early stages of dimentia? |

Posted: 02 Oct 2017 12:50 AM PDT Quite simply my younger brother is a spoiled little brat. My parents have given him everything he ever points his finger at and they walk on egg shells around him. It has lead him to become jealous and entitled. When something is not about him he all of a sudden develops a depression. I think this comes from our different upbringing. When I was a kid my parents were poor. When he became a teenager my parents had gotten much better jobs and had more money and could give him the things I never had. Recently I got married. The week before the wedding was all about him. It was about him being depressed, it was about where he was going to sit. On the actual wedding he basically spent the entire night in the parking lot arguing with his girlfriend. All my closest friends and family were part of some sort of speech. I know speeches are not his thing but he wasn't even there to hear them. He hasn't even gotten my wife at least a wedding gift. I try to call him once in a while to check up on him but he calls me maybe once or twice every year. Usually around my birthday and around his birthday to thank me for his gift. I just wonder what is the point? He is my brother. Nothing can change that and we don't have to be enemies. I know it would kill my parents if we at least didn't stay in touch. But what is the point in trying to carry a relationship just because he is my brother? We have nothing in common, nothing to speak about, nothing to bond over. |
Question: My 10 year old daughter is acting very rebellious? Posted: 01 Oct 2017 08:30 PM PDT My 10 year old is always acting out being rude and disrespectful.... I don't know what to do about her behaviour anymore. She doesn't listen, she acts up always trying to stir up trouble between me and her dad, which who I'm divorcing soon, Because he's the main reason of her spoil behaviour, He's way too passive and doesn't shows any discipline of some tough love whenever she's acting up! She hits him back, She calls us names, She's so terrible to the point he needs to take full custody of her, because i can't handle her, She always refuses to listen when i tell her what to do...but hey her dad always defending her , No matter how wrong she is, I don't know what to do anymore, I feel like I'm being the parent being abuse by this 10 year old! |

Wake up at 7 am and dad takes me to school at 8, get out of school at 4 and mom picks me up at bus stop at 4:40 i just kind of lay around while my moms home and my dad gets home at 6-7. then my mom goes to bed at 8 and my dad at a range of 10- anytime of night really. on saturdays my mom is home all day and dad works in morning and gets home noonish, saturday night is kinda a variable but usually i just chill and hope parents go to bed early. sunday morning is church and sunday night is a usual school night. Question: What to do before leaving in this situation? Posted: 01 Oct 2017 07:42 PM PDT I just turned 18 two months ago. My mom absolutely hates my guts; all she does is scream at me and call me names. She's always angry and nothing I do makes her happy. I can't stay here anymore, but I have no where else to go. I start working tomorrow, but I don't have a lot of money. I'm also a part time community college student, and type 1 diabetic. I don't know how to be 'homeless', or what I'm supposed to do regarding my medications (some need to be refrigerated. There aren't any homeless shelters that'll take me because of my medical conditions, so I'll be stuck on the street. |
Question: Can I move out on a part time job on my own? Posted: 01 Oct 2017 07:30 PM PDT So I'm 21, a female in college. I work a part time job so I usually take Home $200 a week. But I still live with my parents and I can't take it anymore. I can't stand my mother. She is so selfish and nosy. She constantly tries getting into my life when I'm a grown adult. She charges me rent so I pay $300 a month to her. I'm gonna go nuts if I don't get out. My family brings me down and doesn't even try to support me. I have a boyfriend and we've been dating for 9 months. He's mentioned me moving in with him once he gets a bigger bed. But if it's too soon or even if his mom is okay with it. PLEASE HELP! |
Posted: 01 Oct 2017 07:27 PM PDT To start off, I am a lonely 14 year old girl with many dreams, but my parents don't support me. I want to live alone, travel the world, and speak many langauges, but my parent think that I should be married and be a housewife. They claim that they will let me live alone, but discourages it, but I don't believe them. My dad cusses me out whenever I mention that I want to live alone and my mom makes me feel gulty by crying all the time. Since no one supports and I feel so lonely, I created a fantasy world where I am beautiful (because I have low self esteem according to my doctor), everyone likes me (because I am lonely), and I can accomplish my dreams (because I feel that I cant do anything). Its been going on for a long time and it is so bad that I day dream all the time, talk to the people like they are there, and get hyperactive whenever I think about it (I jump and run since I excited). Because of this, I have no friends because they don't exceed my expectation and feel that they are using me for their own personal gain and I don't go outside a lot. My mom and sister bully for this and my dad takes me to a doctor because he thinks that I am mentally illed. But I dont want to tell them that he and his wife is the cause of it because they dont support my dreams and feel parnoid. Am I really mentally illed like my parents claim? If so, what illness do I have? How can I make my parents support my dream? How can I accomplish my dream without feeling guilty? If you are wandering why I think people are using me and not really a true friends is because it actually happened before and been bullied in elementary school. |
Question: Does ignoring people who are trying to bother you always work? Posted: 01 Oct 2017 07:10 PM PDT Im a 16 year old boy and I have a 14 year old sister. She is always trying to anger me and say mean things. Recently, she tried saying that I thought I too highly of myself and that I was really mean (something along those lines). I usually try and correct her or say something back to her that makes her mad. It usually ends in her trying to snitch on me and my mom usually just says "stop it you two!" But this time I just ignored her, didn't say a word. This made her really angry and she gave up on trying to make me mad. It felt great, I had didn't say or do anything wrong or immature or at all and I still felt like I won that battle. Does this work all the time? |

Question: My 25 year old son is too secretive? Posted: 01 Oct 2017 06:14 PM PDT I asked my 25 year old to stay home so he could help out with my youngest son with school and taking him to practice. He Is a good kid, but he always leaves the house really late at night and doesn t tell me who he is with. He does tell me where he s going but no names are given. I am suspecting that he may be meeting with girls but he never brings them home to introduce them to us and we get worried. What should we do? |
Question: Should I hate my mom? Posted: 01 Oct 2017 06:11 PM PDT I hate my mom. It's that simple. She's a dramatic whiny and sassy person. And this isn't "I'm mad at my mom because she didn't let me go hang with friends", I'm mad at my mom because she has a god awful personality. She just broke up with this dude who she "loved" and wanted to spend the rest of her life with, and now shes with another. I keep telling her how it effects me and how I'm not ready but she just gets offended and completely ignores me. She just went to a festival with a guy, and not me and my sister, even though she talked about us three going. She said she would be back soon but she went out for like 10 hours and when she showed up, she was drunk and invited the guy in, even though I told her to let me have my space for ONE NIGHT. And she said "I don't care, this is my house, I pay the bills, so just be quiet." And then she would say I don't want her to be happy and that I'm a bad son. I used to genuinely respect her and think she was the coolest person, now she is the least respectable person I know. And over the years I have been liking her less and less, and whenever I say that I don't hate her, its hard to find stuff that I like about her. SHOULD I hate her?? I mean like shes a decent mother, but not a good PERSON. |
Question: I'm happy at school but really depressed at home. Why is this and what can I do? Posted: 01 Oct 2017 06:01 PM PDT I really enjoy my college classes, meet with friends, get distracted with extra activities. I also have a on-campus job and I really enjoy life at school including my job. I also work out and volleyball is my favorite sport. This happiness changes when I arrive home. I attend community college, so no dorms. My whole family is never happy. My siblings also don't seem happy when I try to do stuff with them. They all say I'm bothering everyone or curse at me. My sister does the most. She is always angry. My parents don't seem to be satisfied of anything I do. They just rant and complain of my well being. My family also starts to demand for my money. Almost my whole bank account for unknown reasons. My sister also asks why I don't buy her things she wants or never put aside money for them to have, Or says I'm a terrible brother for not throwing money to them. I'm sorry but I have a life too and need money. When I have money and become successful at something, they get cheery and say we are happy to have you but I know it's not true. At past times they were like this before and earning a job previously they suddenly "Love me". I'm very sad about this and sometimes don't want to eat at home. Anybody have ideas on what can I do??? Or why this happens??? I've had a professor for critical thinking & and reasoning ask "What is something someone has that you are jealous of"...... that question in my mind........ I just want a happy family...... |
Question: My uncle is an alcoholic. Could this be why he is so grouchy all the time? Posted: 01 Oct 2017 05:35 PM PDT |
Posted: 01 Oct 2017 05:30 PM PDT I was unfaithful like my parents. I am so ashamed and fear the family will link me to my unfaithful and disloyal parents. I feel so ashamed I don't know what to do. No one told me the relative was coming (I just overheard) so I didn't want to just show up at the hotel. I feel so ashamed. |
Question: Is there any way my biological dad can see my child when she is born or anytime after? Posted: 01 Oct 2017 04:45 PM PDT Ohio 22 36 weeks pregnant Estranged from biological father for a little over 3 years. He was an absentee parent and he keeps posting stuff on Facebook about being excited for his grandchild's arrival. (We aren't friends on there I have him blocked but others are telling me and sending me pictures) I have panic attacks weekly over this. I want to do everything in the best interest of my daughter and I'm scared shitless that he is going to somehow have rights to see her. I wish you could see first hand what kind of person he is so you could understand where I'm coming from. I'm not trying to be a dick but we are estranged for a reason and he is a very toxic person. I was raised by my step father and even changed my last name to my step fathers because of that. I am getting married in two weeks as well. Can someone please help me? I don't want him posting photos of her if he gets ahold of any. |

Question: My parents hate me.... what do i do? Posted: 01 Oct 2017 03:18 PM PDT Okay, so today I sprained my ankle and I couldn't go to volleyball practice. My mom got super mad for some reason and called me a dumb ***** and said how I never try hard enough. My dad joined in with her and said my life was basically a joke. Im 14, and I try my best to do everything but I never get time to myself. My mom said I would never get anywhere in life and how she despised me for bring her daughter. She threw my phone in the toilet and told me that she wasn't sorry at all. She does a lot, sudden mood swings and other sh!t. She's perfectly fine (she has lots of time to herself, bills are well paid, no stress, etc) and i honestly don't know what I did for her to be this mad at me all the damn time. Every single day. I never feel like Im good enough. |
Question: Help!!! I broke a plate? Posted: 01 Oct 2017 02:48 PM PDT Okay, so hi i am 13 years old and i was cooking and i opened the cabinet to get a plate and i freaking dropped a plate that belonged to my mother. This plate is very old from 1914. And for some reason it meant a lot to her. We still use it to eat on sonetimes but i feel really bad now because that plate is memories and i know she will be mad. She is at work right now. What should i do? Should i make up a lie? Or should i hide the broken pieces? |
Posted: 01 Oct 2017 02:31 PM PDT She is very bitter and refuses to forgive and therefore not in the family anymore. I do have her on Facebook so if I post family time she is missing I wonder if it would motivate her. My Mom was the same way and it used to bug her when my cousin bragged of all the fun time we were missing. My Mom eventually grew up though her sister has not. |
Question: Can I petition for a new mother at age 15? Posted: 01 Oct 2017 02:28 PM PDT Mine has used me too much for her own glory. |
