Question: How can my mom and I come to a reasonable agreement until I have enough money to move? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 12:47 PM PDT When I graduated high school, I received a full scholarhsip to attend a university about 14 hours from home. My mom told me that it was too far, forbid me from going, and told me to attend the local community college, in our small town, that she would pay for. So I stayed home and got a job while I attended college. Then, my mom complained about the family never seeing me with work and school, so she told me to quit my job and agreed to pay my expenses. In my mom's "world," children become adults at 21. Now, 2 years later at 21, I transferred to the local university, and my mother has started making comments about me mooching off the family and not being an adult. Now she wants me to move out in 2 months but I can't afford to and I don't have anyone else to live with. I am trying to look for a job but there is not much work in my town and I keep getting turned down. Within the past two years, my mother has completely changed from the person she was before; all she ever does is complain about being ready to retire, being tired, how expensive everything is, and why I can't be a doctor like my cousins. Living with this person has caused me to become depressed. I feel like this issue is partly my mom's fault for not supporting me when I had more opportunities. |
Question: What is wrong with me? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 11:59 AM PDT I'm jobless, with no DL, no friends or relationship, I don't put out applications. I really don't care, I spend all of the money I do get on junk food and let my family buy the stuff I need. I also really hate most people, when I know they have more than me or they think they're better than me I literally hate them and hope they die. It doesn't bother me that I'm lazy or hateful. I know it's wrong but it doesn't bother me one bit and that does kinda worry me deep down. I'm usually paranoid too, I always take most things as insults or I think they mean something they don't and then I don't trust most people. My neighbor was coming over to tell me they were going hunting and were asking if I'd like to go and I actually got really mad and told him to f off because I thought he came to complain. I always think everyone is judging me. What's wrong with me? |
Question: My mom is being unreasonable? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 11:41 AM PDT She and my dad agreed if I got a flu shot I could buy a new airsoft gun, so I did, I got the shot, and then she took the gun because she says it "stresses her out" which is quite funny considering I have about 6 other airsoft guns, 2 hunting bows a balisong and several knives, she said I could have it in a week if I did a lot of chores but now she says I can't have it and won't no madder what give it to me, she threatened to take my phone if I didn't leave her alone, she says I could have it in a month if I do more chores but I know she won't come through, what can I do, she is super unreasonable |
Question: What should I do? (Long paragraph ahead)? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 11:32 AM PDT My parents have been very strict all of my life. I asked my parents if I can go to a concert that is held in august at least once in my life or go out with my friends every 6 months next year cause I'm going to be 17. My dad immediately freaked the heck out and said stuff that I can only go when I become a doctor. Like, I told my dad that he realized that is gonna take up so many years of my life and I'm not gonna have time once I work. He said he doesn't care and that doctors can have fun too. I even offered to pay for the tickets and take myself there b/c I'm getting my drivers licenses soon. My dad said he wants to just study. Like, isnt that what I'm doing right for more than 10 hours each and every day. I take 3 AP classes + 5 other classes + I am Key Club President. I stayed awake till 5 AM today to plan for next week's meeting and finishing my homework on a friday night. . My dad said I'm gonna be a garbage woman when I grow up because he thinks I'm not gonna do anything valuable with my life. I play tennis competitively. I'm studying in high school to be a pharmacy tech/clerk to have a good start of a summer job after I graduate (yes the classes I take for it will give me a certificate saying that I am certified to work in a hospital or pharmacy). . I also spent the money that is given to me very well. I know its not enough but I'm also going to major in Chemistry... I dont know if that makes me childish but I believe I shouldn't be a prisoner in my own home. |
Question: Move out or get a new truck? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 11:24 AM PDT I am making enough money now to either move out or to get a 4 Runner. I already have a car, 1999 Civic. But I m basically living in my parent s basement. what are some points I should consider before making a decision? |
Posted: 21 Oct 2017 11:15 AM PDT My mom has ruined her background with a criminal record with DUI and Fake checks so she cant drive and has felonies on her record that will never go away.. She cant hold a job really either and gets caught up in drama at work and gets fired every time and blames everyone else.. My sister had two kids before 18 and both dads fled away. Doesn't want to do anything with her life career life and is happy living in a dumpy trailer park. She is constantly having one night stands with who ever she can. her kids were not raised as one of them was 6 and still in diapers and can not eat real food and the other is 4 and can not talk or say any words. They both cry constantly and scream like wild animals.. this is because she doesn't work with them because she is lazy and didn't want to raise them and didn't want kids in the first place. the kids are monsters and fight till about 3 in the morning, they scream, yell and all my sister does is scream and cuss at them and well you know....... psychical stuff Ill be enrolling in college soon to go into the dental field. I have goals and want nice things in life for my future family. I'm so far from what these people are like and I need to get away but theyre always assuming I owe them stuff like my mom when she needs a ride every day from work but I cant afford it or my sister saying I need to pay her cell phone bill because shes so broke. |
Question: Why does my daughter get so mad when we go shopping? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 10:50 AM PDT I was going to buy a bag of fries, but they were $4.00 and there's no way I'm spending that much for fries when I can just wait to buy one of them and get another free. My daughter is mad that I didn't get the fries. I only buy things if they're on sale or if I can use a coupon. |
Question: I hate my dads house. he yells at me a lot and i am just 12.? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 10:30 AM PDT He yells at me for little things, like not having a clean room. One time, i told my stepmom i was hanging out with a friend after school, she said it was fine, but then i got yelled at the second i got home. He said 'you snuck out. give me your phone, and you are grounded.' I told her where i was going, who I was with, and when I'd be home. Speaking of my stepmom, the devil herself, she hates me. She is upfront but passive aggressive at the same time. She will get mad over little things, and one day she was just in our house. I had no idea who she was, but apparently she was my dads gf. She can't take social cues, and is just rude. I have tried to tell my dad I don't like her, but he just yells at me and tells me the two nice things she has done for me. I hate it so much but i feel bad for wanting to leave. Please help! |

Question: Why is there a problem with everything I do? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 08:47 AM PDT My brother is always complaining that I dont do anything and im spoiled and get everything I want. He was complaining to my mom " She doesnt have a job and sits around on her a** all day at home." I got a ob and started working literally everyday and wasnt home. I got another and had 2 jobs. I was able to buy really expensive car, clothes, shoes, etc. My brother started complaining that I should quit BOTH my jobs because im making "too much money" and im never home. He also asks me to do favors for him. When I do them he tells me I did something wrong or i wasnt suppose to do that. So i tell him to stop asking me for favors but he still does. Like this time I was feeding his 2 year mac n cheese and He told me she wasnt suppose to eat that because it was junk food. But few days later I saw him feeding her Mcdonald fries and a piece of burger with soda. **2 year old |
Question: Do you find this weird ? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 08:28 AM PDT Me and my twin brother are 31 my other younger brother is 22 we have a 9 year old sister she'll be 10 in January. Do you find that weird ? |
Question: Is it even possible to have an "innocent" childhood these days? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 08:27 AM PDT I've met a few moms who blocked certain TV shows and online apps. Those children just went over to friend's houses or at a library to access materials that their parents disapproved of. Their classmates will discuss the latest music video about sex with strangers at school. Sexual language is very common, especially in teenagers. Even if their parents try to protect them from seeing explicit things at a very young age, they seem to find another way to be exposed to it. |

Question: It’s so annoying when people think I’m choking? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 07:49 AM PDT I was eating frosted mini wheats the other day, when an annoying little particle from the wheat tickled my throat. I coughed for a second and was done, and I said I was fine. But my parents started panicking anyway, My dad hit me in the back a couple of times to try to "get it out." I got so pissed off that I started yelling at them. I told them never to do that again, I said I was fine already. They told me they were "just worried about me," but I told them to never do that unless I actually say i'm choking. I stormed off and I'm still mad now, I'm actually groaning, punching my chair, and shooting it and hitting it with my NERF gun. If they weren't my parents, they probably would be beaten up by now. Why is this? |
Posted: 21 Oct 2017 07:32 AM PDT I told my sister that I'm going to Aldo... That's the best deal for me. Now she starts screaming she hates aldi... So I took $871 cash dollars... put it right in front of her... I subtracted 400 and I said that's my rent right there... I took away another 75 dollars and I said that's my water and electric bill... after using just barely what I need. I subtracted another 100 and I said.. That's my cable, internet and telephone.. You go grocery shopping on the rest, how's that for ya ? Ya got $296 there. Go buy a months supply of food on it. I need to eat on I spend. I'm not going through the meat section and subtracting 155 right there.. Forget it. I'll spend maybe 130 and eat for the whole month, and try to lower that bill. Lol |

Question: I have a bad and selfish father. How do I get him to see this? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 05:19 AM PDT Even my mother supports me and she is a bitter person. Yet, my Dad does not. He wants what is best for him and insults me when I am hurting emotionally. |

Question: Is it bad I do intend want to be a Mom at the moment? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 04:46 AM PDT I've been raising my nephew since he was 1 and I was 19 and had to drop out of college and work up to three jobs to survive now I'm 27 and basically gave up my whole life. No dating no nothing just working. I finally convinced my Mom to keep while I finished college and we split him up during the week. Thing is my nephew doesn't appreciate anything I do for him and is very defiant. I've always been career focused and he was forced on me by my mother and she took off and vanished and got married. Everyone tells me how bad of a person u was when I tried to give him back then. Whole time while my mom claimed him in her taxes. But I want a break. I have no kids and have been careful not to. Because I always wanted to get my career together first but I feel like I have no life and missed out on so many years. Any advice? |

Question: Parents breaking up..?? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 03:41 AM PDT My mum and her partner have been together since I was around 12, he has been my dad ever since, taking on me and my siblings as well as his own children, he has really became a father to me. Now I'm a grown adult, I'm engaged to a lovely man and am happy. My mum and her partner are going through something where I do feel my mother is in the wrong and I'm angry with her. No one cheated or anything major, (mother is paranoid and he has a humour she doesn't like - their problems - stupid!) it really looks like they are over for good and I've never felt this emotion! I feel as though I have broken up with someone, like heartbreak! How have people coped with this? I feel like I shouldn't be affected this much at my age. I just want them to go back to normal!!! I'm angry with them both and just can't accept it! Every time I speak to one of them I get upset or angry! What to do??? |

Question: My teenage brother is horrible to my parents? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 01:32 AM PDT Today's was my parents birthdays and we are staying at a resort for the week to celebrate, anyway since my brothers birthday is also during that week they decided to give him the room with the king sized bed upstairs that also has a flat screen tv. When it was dinner time my mum went up and sat on his bed with my baby brother on her lap and my brother told her to **** off, and then she said you're going to end up in jail if you keep talking to me like that, he responded by saying 'I'd rather kill my self then go to jail'. My mum said that he ruined her birthday, he's always rude to us all and never wished our parents a happy birthday. They are trying to be really nice to him but he's always rude and aggressive, he has no respect for my Parents at all. |
Question: Am I wrong for wanting to cut ties with my brother in law and his wife? Posted: 21 Oct 2017 01:24 AM PDT My brother in law and his wife have been very selfish, inconsiderate and disrespectful lately. His wife and I were best friends prior to her marrying my husbands brother and she hasn't been treating me as a friend should, instead putting herself first for everything. She just had a baby, I am pregnant as well, and her husband has just left on a deployment however before he left, we got into a heated arguement over a stupid room because my husband (also a marine) was away for training and I was staying with the boys parents for the month. Well I was staying in the room and my brother in law and sister in law came for a visit and were trying to kick me out of the room because they wanted it for the weekend. (There was an another open room) I refused to go and that led to a ridiculous and childish fight where he called me a ***** and told me not to ask for anything. Well my SL just had her baby and I had congratulated both of them and told my brother in law, aside from what had happened, if they needed anything to let us know, I opened my home, offered to babysit (she's a new mom) and he seemed very ungrateful and a little rude about me being so generous. I'm confused on what to do because I basically am going out of my way to help them when they've treated me very unkindly. My mother in law doesn't want the boys to not talk to each other because of things like this but how am I suppose to be comfortable with the boys being close when they act this way |

Question: Should I talk to a 12 year old girl's parents about her promiscuous behaviors? Posted: 20 Oct 2017 11:15 PM PDT This girl might not be warned by her parents about how she is displaying herself. She uses sexual meanings to describe herself in a way that is inappropriate. I think she might want to seem "cool" or older. There's kids who are giving her negative attention for how she portrays herself (e.g announcing her bra size on a social platform, trying to "date" high school boys, talks about going to prom with them). |
Question: What do you do if your mother dies? Posted: 20 Oct 2017 11:02 PM PDT I'm asking seriously because she just went to the hospital and I'm worried she's not gonna be okay... What'll I do just in case something happens to her? I'm 16 and live with her/ her boyfriend. Father is not around. Other family is insane. |
Posted: 20 Oct 2017 10:56 PM PDT She only has some more months left of this school as elementary school ends in 7th grade here. My daughter's bullies started physically hurting her after school, etc. I don't think she cares much about cyber/verbal bullying, but the physical things are affecting her more. Her school didn't do much about this behavior. I'm worried that this may escalate and suicidal thoughts occurring. Her main bully is in foster care due to an abusive family so the girl has all these ideas on mistreating others. She is coming home with new bruises, cuts, and scrapes. Even if it's only a few more months, should I just switch her to a different school to prevent other possible incidents? |

Question: Why am I annoyed with my family? (Will update more details)? Posted: 20 Oct 2017 08:36 PM PDT When my mom went out of the country to take care of her dad (who passed away), I was actually pretty happy except for the fact that we didn't have her delicious food and a clean house. When she came back however (but also before), she was annoying. By annoying I mean asking for the smallest things, like to warm up water and give it to her, even if she was SUPER close to the microwave. When I forgot to give it to her, and I was in another room, she told me to get it even though she was about a few meters away. She was like this before my grandpa passed, so it's not becuase of that. Also, when I ask her where something is, she will tell me to find it myself and in the end I won't find it, then she'll be annoyed with ME and give it to me myself (I'm referring to food). And the third example, my mom brought back gifts from the country she went to, and someone refused to keep it because her father passed, and when I asked her what she was going to do with it, she got annoyed with me and my father said I had nothing else to do. You see, when my mom was not here, he really wouldn't have said something like that. I suspect that my dad is color blind, but I accidentally asked my dad in front of my younger siblings, then they started nagging him about it and he got annoyed with me, even though I'm pretty sure he is actually color blind, because I asked him the color of a lot of things and even got them wrong. I literally am tearing up! IT'S ONLY BEEN THREE DAYS SINCE SHE CAME BACK! My parents also hate it when my siblings cry/argue. They hate it when it's loud. They're in kindergarten and 2nd Grade, and I'm in 8th. I am a teenager, which might just be why I'm so annoyed. It don't want to be annoyed Just because I'm a teenager!😭 Also, my mom is SUPER OVERPROTECTIVE. When she was gone, I wasn't supposed to stay alone. Like why? I'm thirteen! And I've stayed home alone before, like in 4th Grade and maybe even younger! My dad let me stay home alone if he was late coming from office, and i was supposed to watch my siblings. But when my mom found out she was upset. Also, I have ZERO privacy when it comes to texts. My mom will look at my texts, and she will ask me questions about EVERYTHING. My mom looked almost through ALL of a text history (probably about 20 texts off) of me and my best friend (Who lives STATES away), and she found a meme I made of her, named "The face you make when your crush catches you staring at him". She immediately asked me what that was, and I'm positive that she already knew. I just said that she already knew, and he said she didn't. (But she knows what it is). And I've never actually ever had a crush, becuase I'm so scared of what my parents will think! Also, I forgot to mention this. I don't really want to discuss this with her becuase she'll be VERY mad. |

Question: How Should I Handle This? Posted: 20 Oct 2017 08:03 PM PDT I am 18 and want to move to Texas for college. My parents are very strict/overprotective. If I moved I would be living with my boyfriend whom my parents hate and refuse to meet (he already lives there in his own place. I met him through family not online). My mom would never let me move that far because she thinks I would make bad decisions like she did and ruin my life. But her views are preventing me from maturing and growing happily. The thing is, should I leave without saying anything and just patch up the relationship as time goes on, or should I talk to her about it and face her rage and attempts at keeping me from leaving? I know I'm young, but I have considered the possibilities and this feels very right to me. She will dislike me either way. So which is better? FYI- we have always been pretty close. I am just afraid of disappointing her. But I feel as if she will understand once I am close to graduating college and making something of myself. |
Posted: 20 Oct 2017 07:01 PM PDT I'm not the neatest when it comes to bags or my room (but am certainly not messy) and am having trouble fixing my problem. However, I feel that it doesn't help when my mom is constantly going into my room and telling me what is wrong with it. Whenever she goes into my room I become nervous and feel like crying. I feel like our relationship has suffered and she always puts the blame on my irritability (because I feel like I can't talk to her without her mentioning something about my room). Thanks |

Question: What would you do if you were in my situation? Posted: 20 Oct 2017 05:38 PM PDT I just got a job at Home Depot 5 days ago as a cashier which I do really enjoy it so far, but my father and I planned a trip to West Virginia to ride our dirt bike which we do once a year as a father and son bonding moment, and what makes this extra special is that my older brother (he is moved out) is coming along too. So my situation is that I don t know if I should quit my job at Home Depot so I can go with them (I can t take the 5 days off because I don t have any hours) or if I should skip the trip and keep the job. What makes this harder is I am joining the Army and leaving for basic in January so this will be the last time I can go with my dad for a while. I want to keep the job (took me 1.5 months to find) so I can feel like I have a purpose to getting up in the morning, but I don t want to regret not going with my Father 4 years down the road. Which 4 years down the road, when the Home Depot job won t matter to me. If you were in my situation, would you quit the job or skip the trip? |

Question: I want to make money but how? Posted: 20 Oct 2017 04:12 PM PDT I'm 14 and I just started high school so no, there aren't any jobs available for me. I want to make money because I rely on my mom to get me things that I want and sometimes she can't get them because of all the expenses that her and my step dad pay. When I mean expenses, I mean diapers for my two little half siblings, snacks for themselves, bills, and other payments. We live in a townhome btw. So my issue is we never go out to eat, we never have any snacks at home, we never have drinks other than tap water and milk, we eat leftovers from the same food 2-3 days in a row and if we don't have that they always order the same pizza all the time. I'm sick and tired of it because we are always "short" on money and I feel extreme guilt but then again my friends on Snapchat are going out to restaurants, shopping, going to movies, but always making plans and I'm always at home doing nothing but training for basketball. I wanna make money so these things are not an issue and I can pay for what I want to pay for excluding the other 5 people in my house. Plus when we do get snacks or something good, my step dad hides it, or my siblings eat it all. Please help! I've though about making slime to sell for a business but I don't know? |
Question: Emotionally abusive dad? Posted: 20 Oct 2017 04:07 PM PDT I would like your opinion on this. My biological father has been emotionally abusive ever since I was born. He has destroyed my confidence, made me feel worthless, and given me social anxiety. From a very young age, starting at 3, I was depressed and indifferent to a lot of things. He has recently told me that I have always had a disability since I was born and that all my accomplishments aren't my doing. I am a high achieving honors student, have an internship, volunteer at a children's hospital, and attend college full-time. I am tired of feeling worthless and having someone treat me like this. Having me have to justify myself and prove my worth is crazy. I have seen a counselor, but she doesn't understand and thinks I am spoiled. I just don't understand why he destroys me, my sister, and my mom. He does not do it to his first daughter (my half-sister). His first wive died 9 days after giving birth to my half-sister and he then married his deceased wife's sister only so that he had a nanny to take care of his daughter (my step-sister). It makes sense why he treats us poorly because he never liked my mom and just used her. This is unheard of and I have never heard of a guy who manipulates people and goes to this extent. I have had problems at work with people telling me I act like I don't know what I'm doing due to my social anxiety. And even been told I'm behind the learning curve when I worked at a shoe store. This is how badly he has affected my ability to function as a normal adult. I am now 23. But it is really toxic being around him. Also I do not have a disability either, but he constantly destroys me and says I cannot succeed at anything. That I won't pass my math classes because I'm dumb. It doesn't seem bad, but growing up with this type of treatment and yelling from a young age has really had a negative impact on me. Imagine a 3 year old and you see someone physically and emotionally abusing them for years and years. They grow up with severe issues. |

Question: Sister wants to move in with me after parents kicked her out? Posted: 20 Oct 2017 03:42 PM PDT She has 3 kids by 3 different fathers. The problem is that she doesn't take care of any of them. She doesn't pay for their upkeep or watch them. My parents do (the fathers aren't in the picture). She has two now (ages 6 and 1) and is pregnant with the third. She has to work so everyone's babysitting all the time (me included). They kicked her out of the house yesterday when they found out she was pregnant, but I'm sure she'll be back when the baby's born and she breaks up with her current boyfriend. She's 26, works full time, but acts like she doesn't have kids. I think it's rather cruel to toss her out while pregnant but it was my parent's choice. She wants to live with me, but I just know she'll never leave and I'll be taking care of this one. What would you do? |
Posted: 20 Oct 2017 03:18 PM PDT I never lived with my douche bag of a father. My mom had Lupus ever since I was born, and when it would flare, I would take care of her. Also I'm the oldest of three and my mom ask me to financially help them despite me trying to save my money for my own place. I had to move back with her to help her and family. I'm tired of her being depended on me. I know she's not always healthy but its exahusting to take care of everyone. |
Posted: 20 Oct 2017 02:55 PM PDT He takes care of the household financially and provides for all of our needs but he's turned emotionally abusive to the kids. He slams doors breaks glasses has broken our microwave he's tipped the refrigerator over he shredded up the sofa and loveseat and has misplaced our family dog. It's like no matter how good the boys do he always comes behind them and find something to complain about. The sad thing is it doesn't stop with a complaint it always escalates from him complaining about something to him picking on them personally. For example oh well you can't be that smart cuz you don't even know how to clean the effing room. Or wow your mother needs to have your vision checked because you clearly didn't see the s*** on the dishes when you claim to wash them... this is not only emotionally heartbreaking but it's embarrassing because we live in a condo in Neighbors on the whole floor constantly hear him yelling and screaming. I guess the problem that I'm having is I finally realize this as him being emotionally verbally abusive. Our house is like a war zone with him yelling all the time and the scary thing is I see evidence in my eleven-year-old of him being abusive just like his father. Every time after his father emotionally abuses him it's like my 11 year old turns his anger on his little brothers. To be honest I don't have the financial resources to go on my own and support four kids. I just don't know what to. I am a 35 year old on disability. |
