I had 3 people I would see once every few months and all three have moved away in the last 2 months. I am in my late twenties and married with no kids. Most people here focused on getting married and starting families, not making friends. I can start a conversation with anyone but have a hard time sealing the hangout deal. I have never been so alone in my life and it s starting to take its toll. |

I basically have to remake my friends for this year since I am always moving. Its not hard socializing with people, its just I feel intimated since im a sophmore. I always changed schools before but now that im in a public high school its seems so hard. Im so jealous of all the people I see going out and having fun. My parents got mad at me because I refused to watch my sister and they said "its not like you have a social life. its not like you talk and go out with anyone." but i do want to go out and live. I cant find any friends who are down to talk to me and to keep an actual friendship. ive made a few other friends but as time goes on, it seems like they are slipping away. I want to cry. Ive also never been kissed or had a boyfriend and im 15. I live in arizona so its super hot to get around to fun places and meet people. plus i cant drive and i dont get much money. what should i do? what would you do if you were me? nothing seems to be working for me. and when i do my homework i feel stupid and i feel like i always look stupid so thats why people dont talk to me. is there something wrong with me? |

I had some things in common with hm (the arts) and eventually we started talking on messenger. One thing I noticed was that he said very odd things like joking about his father walking out on him, having to "change his identity" because someone stole his credentials and then joking about it. The conversations in the beginning were excessively random and sometimes revolved about what he recently did. Eventually we started talking about exchanging numbers. I had asked him when was an appropriate time to phone him, he told me and the next day I called but he didn't pick up. Then told me on messenger that he was still sleeping. He started joking around about something else and that was that. I felt played and blocked his number and his username on messenger a few days later. Eventually I messaged him on the site I met him on, confronted his behavior and ended things. He told me that he didn't like talking on the phone basically, said he was sorry that "I felt I hurt" and that he thought I was a decent person. A few hours later I found out that he blocked me on messenger before sending me that response. I don't understand why he blocked me if he thought so highly of me. |

Also my mom doesn't really let me do anything on my own. I've taken advantage of her for popularity in school before since last year. I hate the little freshmen who are a year younger than me (theyre little 8th graders and I'm in 9th grade so I'm better). So this girl has a little brother who's my age and two more brothers who are two years older than me. I've been pretending to be her friend and asking to come over just to flirt with her youngest brother who goes to school with me and also pretending to be her friend just so she'll give me items (I get noticed by everyone now and gets asked how I got that expensive Pandora bracelet hehe). She gave that to me for my bday. So how can I keep taking advantage to her without her getting noticed? She's like gonna turn 20 next year and she doesn't know how desperate I am for popularity (and she won't understand what it's like to be a preteen or a teen anyways that's why I'm not telling her about how I'm stressing out for popularity because she's not a teenager). I know that I'll get answers like why do you value popularity over friendship but tbh I first started being a fake friend to her when I started liking her brother so I could have more of a chance to flirt with him then I realized that taking advantage of her can help me become popular because all the popular kids care about is your appearance. They don't care if you're nice or not. They pick on kids who are younger than them and who are not popular. It's a competitive field, and I've already become one of the popular girls. The popular girls have rules about who you can and can't be friends with, what you can and can't wear, who you can and can't date/hang out with/talk to, etc. I REALLY wanna stay popular!!!! And it's not like back when people my mom's age were children where they say be nice and you'll be popular and to treat others with kindness, etc. nowadays high school kids are super competitive, you're either popular or you're not noticed and you don't matter. Some girls backstab, start drama, talk bad about others, harass each other, and even taunt online JUST for popularity. |

So I have to drive her back and my other friend usually gets irritated to. This is not the first time it has happened, we went to a concert and planned to get dinner at a 24/7 place and they demanded that she get home early, and basically she always ruins our plans. So what I decided to do was send one that said 'lol' and then send another one that says 'oh, sorry, wrong person!' I don't know why. So I did that and it worked my score raised a ton, but I failed to realize something. About 8 people that I know we're hanging out. They all got my snapchats. One of them sent me a snapchat back saying 'lol haha' then 'sorry wrong person'. Then another person replayed it. I feel so embarrassed. I have cheerleading practice with these girls on Monday and I'm scared they'll confront me. What do I do? |

They will tell me the exact same thing that grandma told me, my brother told me, my friend told me, that stranger on that chat group told me, the exact same way using the exact same words. Phrases like cross that bridge when you get there or stuff like calm down. Now I haven't been told to come down lately which is a plus, but everyone has been saying I'll just wait to cross that bridge until I get there. Even if it's not directed towards me, even if somebody is talking about their future they will say that phrase the exact same way somebody said it to me as if they were implying something cause they felt like I was jumping the gun. This also goes with people who is treating me the same I don't know how to deal with that either, I mean people always start treating me the same and the resolve is always the same but after that it really depends on what the person wants in the relationship between them and myself. the only difference really between people is really if they want to stay with me or go. usually they don't want anything to do with me because they feel guilty about judging me and treating me as poorly as most people. So with my face comes also the guilt they dont want. So tell me what do I do about this? Is there anything I can do to change this maybe? |

I don't want to be mean to her, mainly because I'm just not that kind of person, but also because she hasn't done anything to me directly. I just don't like her as a person based on her actions. |

So I turn the music off and he quits the skype call. Then he keeps telling me to KYS and STFU (We usually say that to eachother in like sarcastic voices but hes never done that through like txt messaging because txting doesnt really show his emotions he says) So idk what to do. Posted: 30 Jul 2016 10:43 AM PDT Me and her had a fight yesterday because her family wants her to do stuff when we made plans a month in advance, I invest $90, half of that for me and the other half for her, and during the fight she made me feel guilty for having her choose between her family and me(But we had plans months in advance and I already invested money because she couldn't pay me till the next week) So I was mad she was bailing on me again(This isn't the first time I've invested money into something and she's bailed, and she hasn't invested anything) So I told her not to choose and just do what she wanted, and then said she should go instead of making me feel guilty for something she already agreed to, Then we made up this morning and she went and is hours away and I am once again left to go to this event that I can't get out of or I lose that $90. Do I have the right to be mad? She's done this before for comic con and band concerts. I did tell her to go but only cause she made me feel guilty for taking time away from her family. |

Posted: 30 Jul 2016 10:31 AM PDT So anyway this 'friend' hasn't been being very nice to me these last few months but recently they are being extremely annoying. Now I might sound really mean but you don't have to listen to it everyday. So this person is constantly complaining how their life is ruined. He is being horrible to other people then turning it around and acting all innocent. They also said they have family stuff going on which I do believe is true but they always exaggerate so I don't know how much to believe. Then they are saying stuff like you trying being in my position and count yourself lucky. They also said to my one friend that you're always happy but she said she isn't alway happy she just chooses not to show it and that made her really upset. Tbh I can't stick it and I get that it's mean but I all they want is attention, it's driving me crazy... What should I do? |

I am confused because they already have a yellow heart next to their name. My close friend has the *rosy-cheeked-smiley* face next to them. I message my friend whole conversations sometimes, but the new friend only a few words and snaps... Or maybe they send ME the most snapchats out of THEIR friends!?... Perhaps? |

I have tried tons of times to connect with people around me buy everytime I fail, I ve played sports gone to random gatherings among other things but still have not made any friends and yes I do talk to people when I m at these but never hear from them afterwards. | Posted: 30 Jul 2016 09:32 AM PDT I submitted my vacation request Thursday of last week. The policy at my job is that you submit your request 15 days in advance. I requested that my vacation start next Friday which is my birthday. When I first told my direct manager at first, he was like, "So?" and "So what?" He was holding a cigarette when I told him that I requested to take my vacation time. In the 2 years I've been working at my current job, I've NEVER requested vacation time until recently. When I talked to him yesterday, he was like, "Good," about me working on my birthday. By the way, he even gives me ugly looks but then again, he wears bifocles. He also told me that my requested vacation time off "never came off" when he was doing the schedule for next week. One of my coworkers who I get along with really well, was the one who sat next to me in my department's office's computer and helped me step by step on how to set up requested vacation time. She checked with me completely. My manager "might" take me off the schedule for my birthday but the requested vacation time has now lapsed. If he takes me off for next next week, it's not paid time off. He ALWAYS approves my other coworkers who request vacation time. One of my coworkers left work 2 weeks ago without getting any manager to approve him leaving so what does my direct manager end up doing? He ends up giving him "time off." There are coworkers at my job that jerks to me. It's not even customers that are the problem to me but the employees at my job. |

Posted: 30 Jul 2016 09:27 AM PDT Ok so I have this friend that is a girl and we have been friends for almost 6 years now, but there is a lot of issues with our friendship. Right now she is in a situation and she is sleeping in her car. She moved back to Houston from Seattle earlier in the year around February. But when she moved back she knew that she would have no place to stay and she had no money saved up. I tried to tell her to stay in Seattle but she didn't listen and came back anyway. Now 5 months later she is still sleeping in her car. I do what I can to help her out, but I'm tired of trying to always help her when I have my own issues to deal with. I'm 24 trying to figure out my life and get back on my feet. I'm currently suffering from bad choices that I've made in my life so it's hard. I have no job, nothing. I can't even help my self right now. But I honestly feel like she is very ungrateful. I sneaked in my own house yesterday to wash her clothes and everything because they were so dirty knowing that if my parents found out I would be a dead man. Even went back another time to wash more of her things and she got mad at me because I didn't let the clothes wash all the way. I'm like can you just be grateful that I washed your stuff. I didn't have to do that but I did it because I knew you needed it. She is too dependent on me and I can't support her. It's not my job to support her but I do it because I care but I'm tired of her honestly. I'm tired of breaking my back for her and her. |

There is this kid (i think he's 19)who also takes this class. the first couple of weeks were fine we talked, but it wasnt just us it was more of a group conversation with other people in the class during break time and he kept good distance from me ( he never followed me).Lately, he keeps following me every where i go, i.e. when i go get a snack or to the library during break he follows me and when class is over he follows me out the door and to the parking lot to my car. He also asked for my number (and me being an idiot i gave it to him) and he texts me but i try to ignore them. In addition, usually, because there is only 8 people, the whole class sits far apart from eachother. Well, now he sits next to me. I'm not trying to be rude (I'm usually a nice person), but this makes me uncomfortable |

Posted: 30 Jul 2016 08:53 AM PDT Hi so I have this crush who I've liked since 8th grade, I'm about to be a junior now and since sophomore year she's been mad at me. So a backstory to this is I finally takes to her freshman year and it seemed like everything was okay since we talked every day and even during summer school we were just talking to each other. One thing is EVERYBODY knew I liked her and people kept telling her, but I still never had the guts to ask her out. So I switched schools for the first half of sophomore year and when I came back I tried to talk to her again but she ignored me. I was curious as to why, but people were telling me that she wanted me to stay at my old school and was mad that I was coming back. I of course got mad and when lunch came I just tried to ignore her for the day because we were good friends and when that happened I looked like the bad guy. It turns out my friends who I don't talk to anymore, kept telling her stuff about how I liked her and I now understood why she got tired of it. So the school year ended and I just realized I'm going to try to talk through things out with her when the school year starts. Now it was yesterday and I was sleeping over at a friends house and my friends were going to go so her and her friends since they were apart of our group. So she didn't know I was going to be there and my other friend told me when she saw me she said "****" and left right after. So it is obvious she's trying to ignore me and I cant get her alone so what should I do? |

| Question: How to stop living in the past.? Posted: 30 Jul 2016 08:46 AM PDT So my friends from high school, I like them and all, but they seem be way into the past. I mean, everyone tells stories from back in the day, but some of my friends are always talking about back in the day. Always talking about old drama, old girlfriends, old times. They do move forward, they have their own places, and kids now, but it seems they just kind of go with what life gives them, but still mentally live in an earlier time. I have reduced how much I speak to them, just because I'm trying to do new things with myself ya know. Any advice? |
