I m a sophomore girl in high school. 4.12 GPA (bc of honors/AP). I have never drunk, done drugs, messed around with guys, anything. I am in four academic clubs and play JV soccer. My parents are so mean to me. I have struggled with depression since about 6th grade, have self-harmed and even attempted suicide because of my parents. My mom especially. She gets drunk almost every night and then yells at me. She has called me a b*tch and that I don t give a d*mn/sh*t about anyone else. If I try to talk to her about my problems, to vent, she tells me to stop whining and complains about how ungrateful I am. She is also passive aggressive- i.e., will make demeaning comments about me to my dad until I respond. "I mean, is it so hard for her to blank?" "How did we raise such a spoiled brat?" etc. repeatedly until I ask her to stop. My dad also has a very bad temper and is easily set off. He then vents on me. Not my mom. Me. He has hit me and knocked me down before. If I yell back, I am disrespectful. If I don t reply/leave the room, I am passive aggressive. If I reply calmly, I am sassy. Actually, if I reply calmly, my parents just get angrier. I ve tried talking to them. Sat down and said "I am a very sensitive person and it really hurts me when I am yelled at." Etc. I am greeted with one of three responses: a) parents agree to make things better; nothing changes, b) scoffing/eye-rolling, c) yelling and defensive behavior. What do I do? I m starting to hate them. No siblings btw.

Question: My parents won't drive me anywhere or let me hangout with my friends? HELP..IM GETTING DEPRESSED!?

My parents are literally SO unfair, and not to sound like a brat but they don't let me go any freaking where or do anything at all but stay inside the house, and I literally mean what I say. Even the days when my parents are off from work, I'd ask if they'd bring me somewhere like the mall and they'd make up the biggest excuse in the world and it's non stop. For example, today me and my boyfriend were supposed to hangout today at this indoor trampoline park (it's super awesome! lol) And my dad goes, "no i have things to do and i won't have time" even though he doesn't. He's sitting in his room reading the newspaper. I'm 16, and my boyfriend is 15. He can go wherever he wants at anytime during the day and it's kind of really freaking embarrassing that I have to keep canceling OUR plans on him, when I'm the older one in our relationship! Also, even if my parents won't bring me somewhere I'd ask if I can take a taxi, bus, uber, have a friend's parent pick me up seriously anything thats transportation related I've asked if I could take it and the response I always get is.. "Are you crazy? Hell no. Whats wrong with you" it's just like...come on. I feel like I'm missing out on SO much and not experiencing anything at all and it sucks.. It's seriously making me really really depressed and I'm thinking about starting to cut again because all I do is sit in my room on my laptop as I am right now.. Guys I don't know what to do.. Day by day I'm getting more and more depressed. Help?..

She is passive aggressive with me such as buying the expensive toilet tissue for her and I get Dollar Store brand. If she takes me anywhere it s just to the grocery store. She tried to control me at first but she or my son are not going to! I plan to leave at the first chance I get. On the surface it looks good but underneath its always rotten to me. Should I ignore it or play her passive aggressive game? Lots more she does but if I say anything I am in the wrong!

Today, my mom went out with my sister and they also got food from a nearby shop and they didn't get me or my siblings anything to eat. So she's making me and my younger siblings find something to eat in the house. It's totally unfair that my sister got to get something special to eat while I'm stuck here eating a sandwich. I keep on telling my mom that my sister could've eaten here instead of wasting money at a restaurant. Somehow, I'm always the one who is being "forgotten" and I NEVER get treats or special stuff like that. What should I do?????

I am sad about that all the time . He tells me that am selfish and ungrateful . I do clean and cooked all the time because I feel that I have to and make sure to pay the bills on time . I have talk to my mother about it and all she says is to stay as long as he pays the bills and after that I can move out when I graduated. i had an affair with an older man in his late sixties and I m in my mid to late twenties. It went on for almost a year and i have decided to get myself out of it before anything bad happens or if people would find out about the affair. he has bought nice things for me,to nice places and given me money for special occasions. after a while it seemed that he was treating me nicely,he treated me like a lady, but i feel he was using me for intercourse which was something i didn t expect,the bad thing is i allowed this to go on and he allowed it as well,were blame ourselves for our actions and he should know that too. I am from Latin America. It is very hard for my parents to accept me as independent. I am only child and they make a drama I would leave them. I hate conflict. But it is very hard. In my country people just leave home when they get marry. I saw mant job offers for Java Developers and they say if I go they have to go with me. IF the consulate really gives Visa for them I believe Americans would see me as stupid, right? Imagine you live in a place people treat you as stupid.

Whenever I'm out with my 64 year old mother whether to run errands or to eat somewhere I regularly get harassed by men. Mt mother in the past has stated that she has low self esteem and whenever I get compliments on something to physical appearance related either sex, she says "Well they just like your look." (As in what I'm wearing instead). Back to the harassment, every now and then when it happens to the extreme and I become visibly upset she makes it about her. I will point out what it happening to her and how it is wrong and her reply would be : "Well they don't want me, they want someone young." She's doesn't take street Harassment seriously and only gets upset that she's not being either leered at or followed by random men.

My sister is 16 and im her 17 year old brother. Recently our parents told her that she couldn't wear thongs and there was a big fight about it. The other day she laying down on her bed and I saw her g string sticking out. So I went behind her and said " what do we have here" and I gave her a huge wedgie. Then I told her I'm going to go tell mom. Well she hit me in the side and then flipped me into the floor and bent my arm back and told me that I won't tell because if I do she will make sure that my life is a living hell. I quickly agreed. So right now I have expired mustard and a couple pieces of bread in my fridge. My mom has to go to work so she doesn't have anytime to make me anything and even if she could she didn't. She spends all her money on meals with her friends at fancy restaraunts and I honestly think that she cares for her friends more than me. my mom is from Lebanon, and my dad lied to her about owning a business in America. All my 17 years of my life my dad verbally abused my mom and he didnt let her work as an accountant, but kept her trapped in their small house. My dad didnt own a house. He is mentally scarred because he was abused by his father, My mom had a COMPUTER and knew some English. If she hated my father, WHY DIDNT SHE LEARN ENGLISH BY USING THE INTERNET AND THEN GO TO COLLEGE SO SHE CAN LEAVE MY DAD, WHY DIDNT SHE CALL THE POLICE TO EXPLAIN TO THEM HELP MY HUSBAND IS ABUSING ME. They could have gotten her to a shelter, financial aid, and she could have gotten a higher paying job and left him and marry a more stable man. She later had two kids. I HATE MY MOM BECAUSE SHE RUINED HERSELF!! I could have helped her speak english, so she can go to college and leave my dad because my dad isnt getting any better..... I want to punch m.y mom in the face and scream at her, all these years she was using face book, cooking recipes, but not how she could leave my dad. She could have made a better life for herself, why is she so lazy... Why didnt she try to fight against my dad and do against his wishes. I have 3 older cousins two boys and 1 girl. We don't see each other much anymore, but when we were younger we played games all the time with my older siblings. As everyone in my family is quite a bit older than me, and as I am fairly shy, I stick with my older brother and sister. I guess this has lead to my and my cousins growing apart. Last year my friend told me that one of them called me a *****. They never speak to me on Boxing Day or at family gatherings. Naturally, I get shy if I try to speak to them. Hi Everyone, So the other day I had an incident with a relative where they brought me chocolates (this part is important later) and then tried looking at my laptop without permission. I closed my laptop and made it clear that I was not ok with them looking at my laptop without asking me first (they looked over at my laptop screen as they were asking if I was ok with them looking at it. Seriously?). They kept asking why do I care, what's the big deal, and wouldn't let it go. Eventually I got fed up and said it's none of their business which I realize is really rude but they wouldn't accept the fact that I just didn't think it was ok to try and look at my laptop without my permission. They said "What, would you ask permission before looking at someone else's computer?" and I said yes. They then said "Well sorry for bringing you chocolates" with an extremely large amount of attitude. At this point I was baffled that they were acting as if I was getting mad at them over the chocolates. I said "Oh yeah, that's the issue" with attitude myself. They then said "That's it! I'm telling your father you're being very disrespectful!" and stormed off. I'm starting to think I should have been nicer to this person. The problem is that that would involve me just giving in and letting them see my laptop or just going along with their delusion about me being mad over chocolates. Should I have respected them though they were not respecting me?

my brother never acted nice to me he is 8 years older. He has no problem telling me if he feels I'm stupid or just pane rude. I had an argument with my daughter bf my brother pushed me cause he was going call the cops he pushed me so hard I broke my shoulder 4 places he appologised said it was anaccident never did he once call see how I was doinf. 3 years later my mom fell y brother blamed me he tried hitting me pushing me and telling me I was not his siter was ugly fat and not his family. he stayed away from famiy for few months. x mass came he came I am afaraid of him wont talk to him. he ignored me. he gave me a present I wasn't going to accept but I had his due I already bought it before fighting I had kids give it to him from him. I don't know if I can or ever will forgive him. I was supposed to goto a StarWarz movie today but my mom says I can't go. I spent about 15 minutes crying out as much tears as I could and I am still crying. I was looking for ward very much to this movie. I can't go because I have school work and I have to get it done by Monday, but I said I will do some of it after the movie. She calls me, "ungrateful," ad I should treated like one. I did all my chores today and I did them for the past week (all of them because my siblings were gone) and I'm already under enough stress. What do I do? Thx for everyone's response. Here's what happened: I was too pissed to even look at my mother, so I stayed in my room doing whatever I wish (mostly school to get it off my back D:) and didn't goto the movies :( That might have been my last opportunity because I've been thinking a lot about suicide lately.

My parents got divorced a few months ago and my mom by some miracle got custody of me and my siblings (even though she caused the divorce). Now she is trying to take away my fathers visitation rights. I told her if she doesn't let me see him, I'm not living with her regardless and moving out since I am 18, and am taking my brother with me. My dads a good father. He's the one that should have won custody of us. My mom doesn't care though. She hates my dad so much she doesn't want him to have any part of us. And if my mom is going to be too much of an entitled *****, I'd be happy without her in my life. She always blames my brother and I for everything and lets my sister do whatever she wants. My brother and I are still in high school, but we both have jobs that pay higher than $8 per hour. Do you think we should move out if our mom is going to act like this? I make $9 an hour with my job, my brother makes $8.50 with his. I figure if each of us work at least 20 hours a week, we could afford a decent place. I'd have to make the payments, but my brother would extra hours he said so we could use the money to pay the bills. He wants to move out just as much as I do, and he's only a year and a half younger than me.

I'm panicking because he just had a huge yelling match with everyone and he wants to leave now. He's only works part time @ mcds. He can't afford to live alone!!! He's only 19 so I don't see how he could get a better job. He won't listen to me since I'm younger, but if he leaves now what if he'll be homeless? My mom and dad still live together and say they are happy. My father is impotent and gave my mother permission to find pleasure with someone else. Then my mother had a baby with this other person and has been hiding it from me for 3 years. She just told me everything. So, this happened back in 2011. My friend gifted me a Sony Walkman (the model with the red lights around the play/pause button) when I moved from Saudi Arabia to Doha, Qatar. Fast forward to 2013 March, my mom took my Walkman away during the exam time. She hid it somewhere and when I asked her back after the exam, she screamed the whole house down and said she lost it and cannot find it. She also said if she lost it, that's it and I won't get it back. To add fuel to the fire, my dad also joined in and blamed everything on me, like WTF ? Since then, I never asked her because I also had a iPod, and moreover, I was busy with the last two years of my school. Everytime i'd try to ask her, she'd avoid meI graduated school in July and since then I've been busy applying to universities. Now it's confirmed that I can going to Australia for my university next month, and now when I ask my mom today, she's starting the same problem again. She just sits there with her phone, if she spent that time helping me find it, I would've got if by now. I really want it because my best friend gave it to me as a parting gift. I want to take it to Australia with me. How do I get it back ?

I am 22 and my girlfriend is 6 years older - we've been together for around 18 months and I've never been happier in a relationship. She is caring, attentive and makes everything about my life feel so much better. We just click. But her family haven't taken to me for several reasons. The first being that it's not so usual for women to be with younger guys. The other being her family's wealth - because she treats me well they probably believe I enjoy the high life. I don't feel their acceptance.

I've ridden both since I was like 10-12 but her parents won't let her ride either alone, and she's 16. I'm a girl too and smaller than her, so I honestly don't get it. @Sur La Mer so when you were 13, there weren't cellphones or cameras around everywhere right? if someone decided to do anything to you, then how could you have gotten help? how would anyone know anything even happened to you? and from what I've heard about that stuff, I would think someone in your family introduced your niece to that.

I have visit to my uncle's home to live with them in New Year leaves.I knew that my all three cousin brother's (15,17 and 20) were very open.But really got surprise when I came to know that they are home nudist.Every cousin is roaming naked in home in front of parents and me.Uncle told me they all are home nudist and you are part of our family so they don't feel shy in front of you.They also me if I wants to strips my clothes then I can and join them.My elder cousin also force me.I also join them we really enjoyed the leaves we do everything naked like bathing eating playing and watching movie etc.Do you think I did normal or abnormal behaviour.I am 19.

like how they had an abusive childhood, or a even traumatic past as an adult... it just seems so boring to me to hear the same stories over and over again from different people now that I'm older. it just seems like everyone has the same exact stories. like you can predict what they're about to say before they tell you the rest.

There is no food in the cupboards, and i was very hungry last night. I haven t eaten much in the passed two days and was starving, so i ate a jar of mayonaise. My mom is in charge of the house and whenever i tell her i m hungry she gets mad. I was feeling sick this morning and politely asked my mom if she could get us some food. She said no because she didn t feel like it. I can t drive so I told her if she gave me the money i would walk to the store in the snow and get groceries for us. She still said no and started getting angry at me like she always does. I have some money i saved from christmas that my grandmother mailed to me. I didn t want to spend it, but i am so hungry i am going to go buy myself something to eat. I don t know what to do. I love my mom, and she isn t mean to me all the time, she s just mean to me when i m hungry and when we run out of food. Sometimes I want to leave her, but i love my mom so much i don t want to . I get afraid that she will get old and i will regret moving away and all the time we could of spent together would be lost. I am working on finding a job, I m 16 and have no experience, so its hard not having a car and not knowing how to drive makes it harder but im trying. please help me, i don t know what to do

I am white and my bf is mexican. we are very much in love so naturally i met his family. they were fine at first but it consistently got worse. his dad made some comments that really made me feel unwelcome. i am a very accepting person. i have grown up with friends from all over the world (language barriers present) and have never had issues before. i feel like his dad doesnt like me just because im white. for example his dad said that i probably cant cook because im white. he is always yelling in my face but i cant understand. he also got drunk and yelled at me that he was sorry that all mexicans are stupid (as if i thought that? which i dont at all???). its comments like this consistently from his dad and his siblings too. i feel terrible because i cant communicate with them because they are not very fluent in english and when they do speak english i cant understand the accent. i mean obviously it doesnt matter if they cant speak english well as i do not care, but the problem is my bf is forcing me to interact when he knows that neither of us can successfully do so.

Ok here's the facts.. My boyfriend mother is in her early 60's she is diabetic with one foot cut off so she kinda handicap. Now we been rainy 5yrs n we lived on our own for 2 and a half yrs,.. We had to move back with my family after we lost our apt... Not cause of us ... Bad landlord... N we been there all most two yrs. Now he saying he want her to come stay with us. Me personally I don't. His thing is she's older n she can't live alone so he wants her to come live with us. He keep saying if we live on our own we won't b able to travel n do couple ****. N that's my problem with him.,, I'm not gonna live my life based on living with other ppl cause I can't afford to live alone, we grown we should b able to and still do ****. He just don't get it. Now he saying he don't wanna b a bad son n God forbid she dies hell feel bad. He saying he only got 5 yrs to live and he don't want her to b a nursing home he wants her to be around family. Maybe it's me but I want us to live on our own. I told him well maybe we shouldn't b together I'm not gonna make him choose between me and his mother.

Metaphorically speaking, The light in your room is bust out and you tell your father to fix it, as he is always in charge of these things, and he just ignores you. The day goes by and the night comes and the light still isn t fixed. You tell your step-mom to say to your dad that the light still isn t fixed yet and you will have to pass your whole evening and night in your room without any kind of light if it stays this way. But your father ignores her too lying on the sofa and say he will take care of it in the morning. Then you just can t take it anymore. You yell at your father for this and for all the other things that he did wrong with you and your whole family. He then sits up looking at you yelling back at you saying you have become a spoiled brat. That how dare you talk to your father like this. Says you have become an insolent piece of ****. I just wanna know if I did the right thing yelling at him like that. Because it was a fight. Which never happened before.

Okay so I'm 16 and I'm currently living with my half sister, her mother, and her mother's boyfriend. Also, my half sister is 18 and she has a 9 month old. When she first had him, she would take care of him during the day and then want to go out at night with her friends. This caused a ****load of arguments between our mom and her. (I'm gonna say 'our mom' because her mom is basically my mother too.) Last night, they got into it pretty bad. Our mom changed the baby out of his onesie because the one he had on was too large for him and she didn't want him to be too cold or uncomfortable. So my sister got mad and started yelling that she never gets to dress her child and that our mom never lets her be a mom. She ran off to her room and slammed the door. Our mom turned off the Internet so she couldn't be on it all night like she usually is. Then she sleeps all morning and makes me, our mom's boyfriend, and our mom care for her son. So my sister came out and grabbed the router to turn it back on and my mom was yelling at her to leave it alone because she doesn't even pay for it. So my sister threw it on the kitchen floor, shoved our mom, and left. The whole time, the baby was crying because he heard what was going on. So I was back in the nursery comforting him while my mom and sister screamed at one another. It's getting so ridiculous. That time was my sister's fault, but there are lots of times where our mom will be to blame. I'm not sure what to do about it anymore:(

It's summer right now and really hot. My house is old and we don't have an air conditioner. Even without sheets it's still warm and difficult for me to get to sleep. I'm currently 18, and my parents are constantly walking past my bedroom to get to the dining/ lounge area. I usually sleep with my door open (they know I hate the dark/being trapped with a closed door) so they'd find it really odd if I closed it completely. I've even tried putting a sign on my door so that when you close it partially it reads "you shall not pass" (LOTR reference) but they still enter whenever they want =.= Anyway, how can I go about sleeping without all my clothes as it's terribly warm and hard to sleep? My parents always get up before me and I'm worried they will see me/ scold me once i wake up. Any advice on how to get away with this (having strict parents) would be greatly appreciated.

Whenever I tell my parent's something they did that I thought was mean or something like that they say that I'm crazy & completely making it up. I don't know if they are trying to trick me or if they just have a terrible memory. If they're right they should be taking me to a physiatric hospital instead of screaming at me because I'm clearly having audial and visual hallucinations, lol. *auditory I am not "ritually informing them of their failings", I only tell them occasionally when something they said is bothering me. I never said this happens frequently. I hope your kids, if you ever had them, never wanted to talk to you about their feelings. :/

Yesterday was my 12th birthday, and my parents had no idea. It's not like I'm surprised or anything, but still, i'm kind of sad. I don't know if I should be though. I don't really have that great of a relationship with either of my parents, and we definitely don't connect. We never even talk, unless my dad's yelling at me or something, since all he ever does is yell when he's not at work. My mom's basically always out of it. She's an alcoholic, so she's extremely forgetful, and constantly plastered. So again, I'm not surprised. At all. I actually call my parents by their first name, and they refer to me as 'girl'. They remembered my older sister's birthday a few months ago, when she was home. They threw her a party. But they actually love her. I shouldn't be upset, because it's not like I had expected anything, really, but I am. I don't know... should I be upset? Advice to deal with this?

Let me get this straight...when i grow up, I will leave my parents alone, if though they die, i dont care, because they are emotionally abusing me, They dont even give me a cent to go buy clothes, My dad is rich, he has 3 million dollars in his bank account, but he doesnt give me a cent to go buy some clothes, i wear the same ******* clothes every single day and my friends make fun of me, i have a test after 2 days, so my ******* parents decided to take my phone, laptop, pocket router; ALL AWAY! They can take it tomorrow cause i will be studying tomorrow, But they like the power they have over me, My family went out in the morning to have breakfast and they told me to not go with them, don't tell me they said that because they want me to study, because they also told me to get out of the house until they come back, like are you ******* serious? i am a high school student, starting college next year. I've always loved art and always took deep and keen interest in it..its been my fave subject and I'm absolutely happy with the amount of work i can put forward. i"ve always been a work to impress kind of person.. but ever since i wanted to take art as a proffession, my family always told me it wasn't a proper job/occupation.. i've always disagreed but they force me to think i should consider becoming a doctor( i'm fairly good at my studies and manage to get good gtrades) all my cousins have studied medical and become doctors or engineers, and i'm the one who wated to try something different.. am i wrong? should i consider another profession? or would it just be ignorant of me to not listen to my family? i always believed that proffession should always be according to a person's interest.. now i just seem to doubt myself due to my stereotypical family.. am i on the right path? i need some advice regarding what i'll be studying in college and how i'll breifly plan my future life... :) thx

I just turned 18 and decided I wanted to move away from my strict, manipulative, over controlling parents. I plan on moving in with my boyfriend. but that's a different story. so my main problem is that my car (in my moms name) will be taken away when I leave, fair enough. but I have a bank account with her that they made when I was born, with all the money my relatives have given to me (enough to buy me a new car and sustain a good living for three years) but my parents want to put it towards college, no thanks. I told them I'm not immediately going, and that money won't be going into college anyway. So they said it will just sit there forever. I refuse to let money that can aid me just sit in the bank. I want to gain control of the account. can I get a lawyer or anything involved?
