Question: Am I expecting too much from my maid of honor? Posted: 07 May 2020 08:18 AM PDT My MOH has been my best friend for quite a few years now and she acted so excited when I asked her to be my MOH. She told me when I first asked that she was so ready to help and would help me plan every step of the way. Well, from that point on I just feel like she only cares about herself through this process. She expected us to pay for her dress from the get go. I assumed that she would pay for hers because you can Google MOH duties and paying for attire is one of the first things listed. When we were getting ready to go dress shopping for my dress, she started talking about how she wanted to try on bridesmaids dresses that day too. While looking, she said that I just needed to let her know what our price range is for the dresses so she can pick one we could afford. I hate confrontation and figured I would just do something nice so we paid for her dress. When talking about alterations she said she would pay if she had bra cups added since it is something she wants. But she expects us to pay for alterations as well! Now she is expecting us to buy shoes as well. Now we are getting closer to the wedding and I'm getting super stressed just trying to get everything done between my mom and I. She hasnt texted or called me once and asked how planning is going or if there is anything she can do. She only reaches out to ask about her alterations and when I plan on looking for their shoes. Its like she's only worried about herself. I'm worried she is trying to make it her day. ETA: I am also paying for hair and makeup, which I know is a must for my family and I to pay for. I am from the US. I guess I was just mistaken in thinking most bridesmaids pay for their own dress at least. She also is not planning a Bachelorette party or bridal shower. I really am excited to have her! I guess I'm just basing it too much off of what I would do as a maid of honor or bridesmaid. |
Posted: 07 May 2020 07:55 AM PDT I was originally set to marry on June 13, 2020 in CT. Everything was paid for and ready. Unfortunately, we have postponed to September 5th of this year. Yes it may be too early to tell, but many people believe this date will also not work and it will be too soon for gatherings of 100 people. If so, I have a few questions I need un-biased opinions on: 1. My parents want us to have a backyard ceremony on 9/5 with just family and maybe wedding party (depending on max capacity allowed). If we do that, and postpone the party until 2021, will that take away from the celebration or will people still come to celebrate even if we have been married for months? 2. Should i wear my wedding dress to the backyard wedding AND postponed reception? 3. If wedding party cannot be at backyard wedding (due to social distancing laws-they are 12 ppl), will they feel upset and feel like they wasted money? 4. How would i word invitations for the party after were already married? 5. Maybe my venue can show a projector with videos from our ceremony so people at reception feel like they were there? 6. BIG QUESTION- Will people understand if we marry privately and will they still come to a later celebration party?? Any feedback would be great! |
Question: Are there any people cancelling their weddings due to the pandemic? Posted: 07 May 2020 05:37 AM PDT I've heard of people postponing them, but what about outright canceling them? That is, deciding not to get married, breaking the engagement, and just staying single. |
