Hi, the other day my mother and I were looking at my wedding photos. We came across one of my mother-in-law with her sister, who is my wife's aunt. My mother said "those two sisters certainly aren't photogenic." I thought it was kind of funny. AnyWho, I told my wife about it and she was furious. She said "your mother should look in the mirror before she criticizes anyone else." Now she doesn't want to go to my mother's house for Sunday dinner. Is this an overreaction? What should I do?

I am trying to better understand my mother in law. That's why I'm here. So my mother in law's personality is unlike any other I've ever met. She is 60 years old. When I met her off the bat she rubbed me the wrong way. The first time I met her she told me she only wears clothes that are brand clothes ( DKNY, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors etc). She is constantly trying to keep up with the latest technology. She bought herself an iPhone 11 and now wants to buy the iPhone 12 when it releases, there is nothing wrong with her phone. She bought herself an apple iPad Pro, and 2 years ago when it came out and barely knows how to use it. She has beats ear phones (3 pairs) and when I bought my husband AirPods for the gym she went to go buy herself ones as well. I have a Cal King bed (tempurpedic) it's probably the most expensive thing I own. When she asked me how much it cost I told her the truth, about 4,000 it cost me at the time. Now she wants to get rid of her King sized bed for a Cal King Bed because she said she wants a new expensive bed. There is nothing wrong with Hers also she is divorced. I feel like she wants to live this lavish life and she is a housekeeper. My husband says she has always been this way. She also got a BBL at 55 years old and a facelift. She judges people who are overweight or ugly. Her personality is a been difficult. Is there something wrong with her? 

My mother has been acting very angry lately ever since my dad started cheating on her. She's never been like this before. She takes her anger on everybody & has this little nonchalant attitude. Then when I bring it up too her she threatens me and tells me too get out of her face. I want my old mother back, she was a sweetheart. Ever since my dad has been cheating on her and sleeping around thats all she cares and is worried about.... shes always posting depressing quotes on facebook & constantly changing her profiles last name ( to either hers or my dads last name ) always doing something weird.  I don't know what too do. My dad definitely doesn't listen, you could tell him one thing right now and he wouldn't care.... hes not a bad person hes just a cheater.... and also my moms been making excuses so he can sleepover our house more... shes always acting sick or sad so she can get his attention and its so freaking annoying!

I am 13 and everyone in my school has a phone except me. I cant seem to convince my family to let me have one.

I can't go to sleep anymore. She always turn the television up. She always turn the raido up. I feel think she is taking over me evethough this is my house too. 

Im 24 and i live with my mom,  but i feel like we dont get along as we used to.  Every day there's fighting in this house,  she's always telling me things to eat, dont go here dont go there like im a little kid.  That turns into an argument all the time.   Plus im stressed out  due to perosnal reasons,  and we fight everyday.   Like im old enough, i know whats right and wrong.  She starts crying and tells me im a bad son for not listening to her.  Trust me I do feel bad about the way we argue and yes I argue back I'm not going to lie.  it gets very overwhelming.   And every time we argue she always starts talking about death and how shes Gonna die and im gonnabe alone....can I please have advice on this situation?????? I live with my mom because i have no where to go.  Im in school so i cant really afford anywhere else to live I don't think we've gone ONE day without fighting in a long time

When I used to live with my dad and grandparents in germany I was so outspoken, and knew what I wanted and did exactly that. But as soon as I moved to the states I was bullied, and I only had my mom and stepdad who basically ignored me. And now as a 15 year old still in america, I am the oopposite of this, I am quiet, mistrustful, and I rarely speak my mind. I barely know my father, and cannot hold a conversation with him. I resent my mom (who yells at me, does nothing, and buys things we cannot afford), and my stepdad who was the reason for us moving here. Should I just shut up and be thankful? Please do not hate, I have been searching for a question similar, but I really want an answer.

Here s the dilemma. 2 months ago my fiance moved in with me. Now something is going on with her dad and she has to move back. I was suppose to pack up and move back with her and my son. My son decides he doesn t want to go. my son is 16 years old. Thing is I love her but my son and I fought too long to live together and I am not giving that up. I also understand where my son is coming from we both don t know anyone there and it is further from our family. However, my fiance doesn t do long distance either they only last a short period of time. I really dont know what to do. I dont want to lose her but I don t want to have my son move away from me either.

I saw his sister's husband do the same thing when our grandfather was dying. When I was a kid he would fall asleep in the school counselor's office. He disowned a parent because the parent was suffering from alcoholism. He used to tell my Mom, his now ex-wife, "OH COME ON HONEY" when she would be anxious and worried. Is this normal in men? Is it normal never to show sympathy?

My Mom will not let me see anyone but her and my sister. We have not been allowed to go anywhere aside from a walk down our street since mid-March. She says it will be like this for a year and noted last night that there will be no Christmas this year. We usually travel but we are not. We can ZOOM and Facetime with family but not with friends. I am becoming so depressed. I feel like I am in adult prison. What do I do? A vaccine could be 1-2 years away. I should add we don't even buy groceries. My Mom's brother and nephew leave them at our door and can't even come in. Yet our cousin, the nephew in reference, gets to go out and about with his Dad and just wears a mask. Her brother is even hosting a family picnic this year in late June but we cannot go. I envy this cousin, He has no Mom and he is lucky. Our Dad doesn't love us so left when I was 2 and so we don't have anyone to straiten Mom out. What do I do? I need to be free to see the sunlight again.

Hello everyone! Let me start off by stating that I'm 21 years old and work two jobs to help support my family. I pay rent and utilities and help in any way that I can. I absolutely love my parents (though they may not feel the same) and try my best to do as they tell me.My life has been very stressful recently, I've been extremely lonely and have been falling back into these pits of absolute sadness and confusion.Our home life isn't the best, my Dad has a very bad attitude and is constantly irritated. He picks fights over any small thing and constantly tries to belittle me over how much money I make, how I have no social life and how I'm not in college. My Mom doesn't ever say anything to him, she allows it to happen and I choose to just stay in my room or go for a walk because I don't want to argue with him or be disrespectful despite what he does.  Recently on one of my walks I found a litter of kittens in an abandon shed. I've been taking care of them, I visit them daily. There is one kitten in particular that always makes me smile. From the second I seen him I felt joy that I've never felt before.  I brought the topic up of keeping a kitten to my parents but my Dad begins to scream when I mention it. I pay bills, I don't do drugs or drink or anything horrible. I don't understand why he won't let me have one thing so that I can be happy. I know I can just move out and do what I want, but I don't want my parents to struggle. 

Underestimates me like when I defend myself for something, she talks over me and make side comments. Not to mention when I was young, my spine became unaligned because she used me as an experiment for her products in her networking business. I grew up not having confidence hence she did this to me in the past. Also, she keeps on throwing my things away some of my things without asking me about it like childhood things and university notes to be used for futyre references (she did the same with my sister's credit card billings she collects for her personal references). She was abusive to me in the past like, slamming my head against the wall after my ear canal had a wound. She thought at that time that I walked too slow to get out of the house to  visit the doctor so she did that to me. She no longer becomes that kind of abusive because her anger triggers her glaucoma.

So my aunt normally spends Christmas with her in-laws, so she and my parents normally exchange gifts prior. Normally, my mother sends a gift to my grandmother's house and so does my aunt, and we pick up the gifts when we visit my grandmother. Anyway, last Year, my dad brought me to my grandmother's house, and my mother sent my aunt's gift along. This time, my aunt happened to be there and opened the gift. My mother had sent her a Mexican sombrero that is used to serve tortilla chips and salsa. The salsa goes in the middle and the chips go on the side. The gift also came with a jar of salsa. When my aunt opened the gift, she said sarcastically, "just what I always wanted" and laughed. When I got home, I told my mom and she got very angry. She said that compared to the junk my aunt gives as gifts, the sombrero was a great gift. Anyway, is my mom right? Was this an appropriate gift? Or was my aunt right in her sarcastic comment?

Today I had an online classes,my teacher was telling who did the homework and who didn't,when it was my turn he was extremely mad at me because I didn't do the homework.Earlier I've told him it was too difficult but he was mad cause my classmates manage to do it but I couldn't.He was so mean to me,he ask me what was difficult in an angry tones,I didn't say anything,he told me if I didn't answer him he's going to remove me from the meeting,I didn't answer and he said that he couldn't bear it anymore and he remove me.....i send him a message telling him I'm sorry but he didn't answer....he was so mean and sarcastic.....the worst part is that I'm the best student in his class........i'm really shy.......i feel horrible....

I recently loss my job and I have a child . I'm living with my abusive mother and sister because there is nobody else . I am applying to jobs in a different state for relocation opportunities. I've been trying to make friends and talk to positive people .  Whenever I do , my mom says I'm after d*ck. I'm a 31 year old woman and my mom looks down on me for dating or talking to anyone of the opposite sex. My mom had been through so many men and one sexually molested me when I was a teenager. Everyday my mom and older sister has something negative or rude to say . I am trying to find some place to stay houseshare ASAP and find a job while trying to put daycare in place . I've only been here for 6 days and they are either coming in the room telling me something negative or somehow bringing me down . I told her not to say anything to me unless it's positive. The response was , "it's my house I can say whatever I want". They are allowing me to stay for free for 2 months which is nice . But they are also still emotionally abusive . How to survive them coming up to me saying stuff ? It's almost like they are trying to get me to leave .

They are ignorant by choice. 

So you see I need it to be homemade because rn I don't have money to buy anything and my mom doesn't like to tell me what she wants because she claims she doesn't. I still want to give her something. Anything I could make her that's easy enough 

My sister and mother will constantly make dirty, perverted jokes and if I say something that is simply innocent, they will make it seem dirty and sexual even though it isn't. I'll ask them not to act like that and not to make disgusting comments, and they will start swearing and screaming at me for no reason. Also, they keep accusing me of taking nude pictures or videos of myself just because I prefer to talk on the phone, in my bedroom when in reality it's because they like to eavesdrop on my conversation, and start being extremely loud, and I do not want to deal with any of that. What should I do about this? I am so sick of them acting so perverted and disgusting all of the time. You don't seem to understand what I am saying, they are constantly making everything you do and say seem sexual when it's not. I am not asexual either, I am just tired dealing with people who are always disgusting and then get mad at me for feeling bothered about it. They also keep starting fights with me and accusing me of taking nude pictures when I have never even done that in my life.  Not to mention, my sister's the one who had sex when she was 12 and would send nude pictures when she was 13, but she feels the need to accuse me of things that I never had any business doing and starts fights over nothing. I am tolerant towards sex and I have no problem with it but I shouldn't have to deal with two people always turning nearly every conversation into something dirty and sexual. It's not normal at all. I don't even live in a trailer park and never have, I live in a apartment
