Posted: 01 Feb 2020 02:45 PM PST My grandma Mary passed away 1 year ago today after being married with grandpa for 50 years. Grandpa was a pfc in Vietnam in the Marines. He knew her in high school but he thought she wouldn't date him so after graduating high school he joined the Marines, was sent in Vietnam. After he came back. Grandma was still single so he asked her out. The rest is history. Grandpa was the local general practitioner of our small town. After grandma died of leukemia last year we all tried to help him. They were just 16 and 17 when they first met. They shared a life together. Grandpa says he's fine. He never talks about grandma but I'm concerned about him. Since he's a Vietnam Veteran sometimes he gets interviewed and the last intervirew he gave he said when asked about grandma ' I miss her. I'm not concerned about the spiritual. It's just the loneliness of not having someone telling me constantly how wonderful I am' he said it in a bittersweet smile...it made me so sad because he confessed this in an interview but not to his own family. As I said he seems happy and never talks about her unless someone asks. How shall I help him? It makes me sad because I know he misses grandma even if he says he's fine |
Posted: 01 Feb 2020 01:32 PM PST I had a lot of fun three years ago there but that was when my Mom was with me. My Mom is away like most years so I won't get asked. I do not feel right saying "can I come" but I likely will be seeing her at a funeral for a neighbor she also knows on Saturday so wondering how I can finagle the invite. She has her kids, grandkids, and if they are in town her brother and his son. I know it is family but my parents have said over the years not to actually say "can I come to your party" even to family. When I was younger I used to do that. |
Posted: 01 Feb 2020 01:24 PM PST My mother does this to please my sister. It is how my sister became as mean as she is. |
Question: My father wants me to mentor him? Posted: 01 Feb 2020 12:33 PM PST I grew up in a family of 7 siblings. I was the only out of all them to graduate college and have a career. The problem is that my 77 year old father went to the college I went to and tried to enroll in there, I found that so creepy. He also wants to work with me and hang out with my friends. He also dislikes all my partners even though now I am in a stable relationship and happy. He wants us to break up so me and my dad could just hang out and he said to mentor him. Is this normal behavior? |
Question: Why is my brother's wife doing this to me? Posted: 01 Feb 2020 10:57 AM PST My brother's wife has large boobs. She likes to show a LOT of cleavage. Strangely, my brother is OK with that. At our parent's home, she will bend over in front of me and say "Don't look at my boobs". How could I not look at them when they are 6 inches away from my face? I just say "OK". That is really strange behavior. Other times she will bend over in front of me to give me something and then say "Did something come up". I always truthfully tell her no. I have NO sexual interest in my brother's wife EVER. I wonder why she is acting this way. Is she flirting with me or possibly just teasing me? Anyone have any ideas why she is doing this to me? |
Question: Mom embarassed of my looks? Posted: 01 Feb 2020 09:44 AM PST I have gained iver 50 pounds in the last few years due to depression and I also suffer from social anxiety. My mom always make a big deal of my weight. I noticed that she post pictures of my sister on her instagram all of the time but never post me. And the one time she did post me it was a picture from 8 years ago when i was much smaller. She tries to do my hair and dress me all of the time. I am 25 years old smh. I recent dressed up really nice, and did my hair really cute. I got tons of compliments. My mom walks in my house and doesn't even say anything smh she just looks at me and starts a random conversation. I am tired of feeling like what i do is never enough. She didn't even really want me to be in her wedding smh so i decided to not be a part of it. She was fine with it. I could tell she didn't really want me to be a part of it so i told her i didnt have to walk isle and it seemed as if she was relieved. She tells my sister how pretty she is all the time as well. I plan on moving away and just focusing on myself but i feel so guilty at the thought of leaving my family to go live in another state. However i am most happy when they are not around. Please help i need advice |
Question: Was it rude for my relative to say "get me out of this group text?"? Posted: 01 Feb 2020 09:32 AM PST A relative sent a group text to all of the family reminding them that it was my daughter's 2nd birthday. Another relative messaged back and said " get me out of this group text" I replied that I thought she was being extremely rude and could have waited for another message to say get me out of this group text. The "rude relative" proceeded to become sarcastic with me saying it's 5:30am and it woke her up. And said I was ridiculous for thinking that she is against a 2 year old. She has received numerous group texts early in the morning and never complained. Then she had the nerve to say why is the other relative worried about my child birthday, its not like it's her child to be worried about smh. And she doesn't understand how this was rude and offensive. Am I'm being overly sensitive? I understand not wanting to be texted early in the morning. But i feel like she should have waited for another text to say that |
Question: My mom is always rude before taking me somewhere? Why? Posted: 01 Feb 2020 06:59 AM PST I do everything I'm supposed to do.. good grades.. attitude and whatever. She doesn't mind me going to parties or events UNTIL it's time for her to take me. She becomes an asshole and purposely takes her time or finds something to get mad at me for. Right before a homecoming she started complaining about sm long ago and then calling me a whore and slut until I was in tears... THEN took me there. Does anyone else's parents do this, because I hate being around her but have to go places. |
Question: How can a father get help ? Posted: 01 Feb 2020 05:47 AM PST A father and mother have 50/50 custody of a child but the mother is not seeing the child but she gets full benefits of child while the father does do everything for the child and provides everything for the child. The child has Autism and father takes the child to her ABA therapy school everyday and provides the school with everything there need. Father takes to child to any medical services, but mother keeps the medical card. Father gets no help with any benefits. Father is on SSI disability. Mother gets foods stamps for herself plus child, plus cash aid, wic. But chooses to only see child one weekend or so a month. How can the father get help, his been to court about the mother, and talked to welfare but the welfare says she filed first so she gets the benefits. How can someone get benefits for someone that doesn't live with them. |

Question: I just found out about my moms affair...? Posted: 01 Feb 2020 12:23 AM PST I found out my mom was texting other guys several times before, but I never heard of any meetings with the other men. I was younger when this went on, so I couldn't have blocked my mom out of my life, so I forgave her. Now, she went on a date with another man when I overheard her phone conversation. I was very angry and called her hurtful names. I don't even feel like she is my mom anymore. My dad did so much for her throughout my life and I hate her for thinking he is not enough. He is the best dad I know. I want to know how to deal with the mix of anger, sadness, and pain I am feeling right now. (my dad also doesn't know). |
Question: Would my parents be disappointed in me? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 10:38 PM PST I've had a handful of relationships they didn't work out. I'm dating this new guy who's had a crush on me for years. He's a year younger than me. Really tall, he's jacked he's sweet and really funny. I've dated outside my race before so I know it won't be a problem. The thing is he dropped out of school but he does have a really good job. He's a good guy and he's the best boyfriend I've ever had. I'm just worried my parents won't like him cause he quit school |
Question: Why does my family bully me? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 08:28 PM PST My family have been bullying me ever since I was a child. It's like they hate me. They constantly tease me, laugh at me, call me names, and mock me. They even sexually harass me, try to set me up to be r*ped, and touch me inappropriately. I told them it's not okay and to stop but they won't. I told someone about it but they sided with them and thought I was lying. I don't know what to do anymore. |
Posted: 31 Jan 2020 08:04 PM PST Our sons, 15 and 14, asked to go to the movies with their friends. Our daughter, who is 12, asked if she could go as well. I was hesitant, but my wife and I decided that if the boys didn't mind her hanging out with them, it was fine. We're in the parking lot and immediately (they saw their friends), they started walking way ahead of her. I called all three of them back to the car. I told them "I don't want that to happen again. When we leave, your sister is your responsibility and if anything happens to her I am going to crush both of you. Do not let me down." They promised, and we left. My wife was pretty upset in the car, saying I don't give our daughter enough credit. But we just left her with a group of 14/15 year old boys...I need to know that my boys can, at minimum, not leave their sister behind. Should I apologize to the boys? |
Question: Why does my mom neglect me? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 07:38 PM PST I always have a bad body odor, I never change clothes, my hair is always undone, and I'm always sad or upset. Anyone can clearly see that there's something wrong and I need help. My mom doesn't even say anything. She won't even talk to me. She is there for all of her kids except for me. I don't understand why she's never there for me. She won't even listen to me. |
Question: Why did my mom abandon me? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 07:29 PM PST She was never there for me. She abandoned me. She is there for all of her kids except for me. I don't understand why it's so hard for her to just be there for me, understand me, and listen to me. She understands and listens to all of her kids except for me. |
Question: How to get my mom to STOP treating me like I’m some kind of little child? (I’m 24)? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 06:20 PM PST I have lived a whole life. I've done more things that my mom has ever done in her life and she's 50. I moved out for two years when I was 18. I then came back to live with her so I can go to school and save. I moved out once again for a summer. Moved back for school. Moved out again last summer and only moved back recently because my boyfriend assaulted me while I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant. I cannot stand being around her. No matter what I say or do she treats me like a child with no brain cells. If we are at an appointment and the doctor or nurse ask a question she jumps in and answers it before I do. I was telling her of a situation where these ppl were trying manipulate me and I was trying to explain to her I know they were I entertained them because it was just simply entertaining.. better than doing nothing at home.. all day. she started getting all heated saying I'm filling my head with negativity and I'm in a fragile state etc. I tried to explain to her that I'm perfectly fine but she got mad and told me to leave the room. If I don't do every single thing she says she tells me to shut up or go away. I CANNOT STAND being around her. I'm on the verge of saying I would rather live with my abusive ex than be in the same house as her for another month. She also refuses to call my unborn son by the name given. She made up her own name for him which drives me insane! |
Question: Is my computer powerful? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 06:10 PM PST It has a Core i7-860, 8 GB of RAM, and a Radeon 4850 GPU |
Question: Is there something wrong with what I said? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 06:09 PM PST I was talking to my crush about driving and I said " Yeah! I saw an accident happen when I was driving where a truck hit someone and then kept going and my driving instructor and I helped the person call 911 to get help and stuff" and then she randomly blocked my number, i'm really upset and can't stop crying, was there something weird about what i said |
Question: My old best friend blocked my number, what happened, urgent reply really sad? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 06:08 PM PST We were best friends for like 7 years and in 9th grade 2017 we stopped being friends bc of a argument and even our parents got involved then years later in october 2019 i reached out over text after finding out she was homeschooled and it went well and we texted and catches up, she'd randomely stop replying sometimes and when i would text again she said she was busy and we would talk again then earlier this month we finally talked about our friendship and i asked if we could be friends again but she said it wasn't the best idea bc of what happened last time and i apologized again and she said she didn't want to be friends bc she won't be on her phone anymore bc her parents were having problems and her mom and her want to move out. Then we talked about it and she said we could still talk sometimes and we talked again and it went well then randomely today i text her and i'm blocked (it doesn't deliver anymore), what happened? |

Question: My sister is 22 with selective mutism? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 04:23 PM PST My sister is 22 years old with selective mutism. She ONLY talked to my other sister who is also 22 (their twins) and not to me or my brother and parents for maybe a year and a half to two years. But now she's starting to talk but just not around me or my father. How can I help her to start talking again to me and my father? If we're all sitting together she won't say a word. Can't remember having a conversation with her for the two years. I'm her brother two and a half years older. |
Question: Should I visit my grandmother and grandfather ? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 04:22 PM PST So a little background. My dads parents supposedly don't want to talk to me. My aunt on my dads side told me this, but I don't know if she is telling the truth (she has lied before). I have never had contact w my dad as he is a criminal and want nothing to do w him. My mother and grandmother hate each other, but now that I'm 19 I want to go and visit to see if my grandparents truly don't want to talk to me. I have also never talked to or met them before. But my cousin on my moms side and me are going on a trip and the town they live in is on the way. I have their address from the internet and have confirmation that's the right address, so my question is; is it a good idea to visit and see for myself? Edit: I have tried writing but they have a language barrier as they don't know English well enough to write it. Also no one will tell me their phone number so I can't call. |
Question: How can I make my mother happy? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 04:13 PM PST I started at a university this year and I am very unhappy where I am. Despite countless attempts, I haven't made any friends, and just being at school makes me feel sick. I decided I wanted to transfer to the school my boyfriend is attending because things between us are serious and I think it would help me feel more at home. It is very far away from my hometown, but it is an incredible school and I think I would fit in far better there then I do at my current school. When I told my mother I wanted to transfer there, she started accusing me of not being independent and letting my boyfriend control me, even though I made the decision on my own. She thinks I am not being independent and I am making him control my happiness. How can I make her believe me when I say that this is what I want to do, and I just need her support. It is horrible having to go through so much stress trying to transfer and also having to do it without my mother's love and support. She has been so cold for the past few months regarding this whole subject and I just don't know what to do. |
Question: Help I have a speedo and need to tell my parents? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 03:34 PM PST So today I was going to tell my dad I have a speedo and I was super nervous. I need to tell him super soon. My friends are mad at me that I won't tell my dad since my friend got it for me. Please help me and give me some advice on what I should say to my dad. Thank you. |
Question: I hate living with a low IQ mother and two low IQ siblings. What should I do? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 02:52 PM PST I just hate it. It causes me stress and depression, and I have to always clean up their mess. Every time they mess up, they literally run to me and expect ME to clean it up for them even though I'm the youngest. They squander their money and they have to beg me for mine even though I get less than them! Luckily I didn't inherit the low IQ genes from my mom. I feel like I can never escape them. Even if I were to move out and live on my own in peace, they'd still bug me. I know it. I have had to be the parent since around 2010 and can never have anything for myself because I have to clean up their mistakes all the time. And I've lost interest in all my hobbies and life itself that I just don't care to live anymore. I have too much anger bottled up in me and have contemplated suicide at times to escape them. I don't want to be around the because they they disgust me. What do I do? |
