This summer we're going to my brother-in-law's wedding in Airth (outside of Stirling). It's an afternoon wedding in June with reception to follow at the venue. My husband and sons are in the wedding party, and their kilts have been ordered. I've chosen a colorful maxi dress with a cardigan in case it gets cold, and strappy heels that I hope will be appropriate. I'm beginning to worry about any differences I might not know about and want to make sure I don't make any faux-pas. Do women truly wear hats, or is that only in the movies (please say yes--I'm dying to wear one). Other than a wedding gift, is there anything I need to make sure to bring? For instance, My husband and kids will be with the groom the night before, and I'll be with the bride and her bridesmaids, at a hotel near the venue. The hen-do is separate, a few weeks before the wedding, so I imagine we'll just go to a bar and do hair and make-up in the morning. But what don't I know? And what might I not be considering? As a side note, I'm stumped on what to bring my 13 year old nephew (the 2 year old niece is easy). I'd love to bring him a gift that's unique and American, but he already has a baseball glove and ball, and some US team jerseys. I suppose I can bring candy, but it doesn't seem like much.
