I attended of course; however, I threw a party for my sister because she was going away. I invited her along to it. A week prior to the party she got into a car accident. However, I wanted to visit her so she told me to come over two days after the party. She realized we we're both going the same place the day I was going to visit her, meaning I was her ride to that event. However, when the party came she randomly texted me saying she could not attend and that when she feels better we can hangout. The same night of the party, I find out that she blocked me off of her snapchat story so that I wouldn't find out that she was out eating and going to the movies with her best friend. I was hurt because she only needed me to visit 2 days after the party so that she could use me as a ride. I was even more hurt, considering that she totally lied because she thought she would be bored. Rude? So I'm planning my birthday party shut now, but I don't really feel comfortable inviting her. Even though she didn't come to the surprise party, it was not that her presence mattered. What mattered is she lied in the past and wanted to use me for her own benefits. Should I invite her or not to my birthday pary |

But I ave a hard time in social situations, even though I can push myself and talk to just about anyone without trouble. I have anxiety and it s hard, and at one point in the day I just felt drained. I want some solid friends rather than the many acquantances I ve acquired. Some people who I can talk to and laugh with. The hardest part of meeting new people for me is that awkward pause right after the introduction where the both of you are searching for a topic of conversation. I know people are likely just as nervous as me. but it s not reassuring. Anyone have tips to make quick friends? |

We always took fun adventures and I really could count on her to just have fun and let loose. Her best friend is 19 and turning 20 in a few months and she still has friends from when she was in elementary school that are younger than her (grade 1 or 2 kids, she went to elementary school until 7th grade due to the school system). She grew up in a big Canadian city and is friendly and likes to read books and paint her nails, etc. |

A few years earlier there was a lady I really liked that my mother stopped liking saying the lady exhausted her. Then there was a lady that was real hyper who my mother did everything with and then stopped liking (that one was strange). As a kid her best friend whose kids I played with and whose family I really liked my mother stopped liking because the woman became exhausting (started having emotional problems with anxiety). I thought that one was cruel of my mother to abandon. Then there was a woman who wanted to be with my mother all the time so my mother stopped seeing her and lastly one that gossiped non stop and in that case I can see how my mother had to go her separate ways. So these are not dating relationships but lady friends. What might be the reasons she makes these friends and they always end up enemies and usually for reasons I would not end a friendship over? My mother does this with family also though family ends up reconciling over time. |

We rely on each other to keep the other company most of the time, but whenever she has another choice, she shamelessly ditches me. This is super awkward when we're spending time in a trio with someone else, and it feels like I'm diliberatley ignored even though I try and jump into the convos. I'm really calm and hard to offend, but all the humor she has with me are just insults upon insults and it feels like she's never willing to say anything nice. While we were engaged I naturally drifted away from most of my friends. I had a few close ones I stayed friends with. However, recently I started reconnecting with them. For reference, they used to party quite a bit and a few of them would occasionally smoke weed. Now the 4 or 5 people that I have recently began to reconnect with are at a very different place in their lives. Most of them are married or in serious relationships and 2 of them even have a kid. They "party" every once in a while but overall have grown up and matured. My husband doesn't want me or our 2 kids 3 and 1 around that kind of "bad influence". Ive tried explaining to him that they have grown up a lot over the last few years and aren't like that anymore but he still doesn't want me to hang out with them. Any new people I meet he doesn't want me to be friends with because i really have no idea. He just tells me I shouldnt be friends with them. The only people he will let me be friends with is a someone from our church that is a girl we are fairly new at our church so I haven't really had the chance to get to know anyone yet. I am a very social person and being a stay at home mom is really hard for me. I think the last time I went out without the kids for more than an hour was 9 months ago. I feel very isolated and am starting to get depressed. My best friend just moved 12 hours away about 2 months ago. I'm at a loss and really don't know what to do. |

Posted: 31 Aug 2016 02:31 PM PDT We were best friends during the very early years of elementary school and we were put in the same gifted programs that our school system offered. We did everything together until my family decided to move and we became separated and nobody even tried to keep me and her in contact. However, we were able to have our elementary schools funnel us into the same middle school where I got to see her again, and I still was able to remember her. The only problem is that I thought she was incredibly beautiful and was shy to the max, which was so bad I couldn't even speak to her (I had poor social skills at this time). I couldn't understand why I couldn't talk to her like any old friend of mine. Someone at the time had walked up to me and asked me if I had liked her, and I got so frightened that I said no (she was also standing right there). After an entire year, she moved away and this time with no way to contact her. Years have passed and I'm in my senior year of high school, but throughout the years she would come back into my mind out of nowhere and I still felt terrible for not even being able to speak to her, even though she even complemented me and said good things about me behind my back (something nobody has done for me). I understand she's most likely moved on or never wants to see me again, which I understand completely and completely respect that, but she still comes back to my mind every once in a while. Why do I still remember despite all the time passed? |

The bus stop was partially crowded and as I crossed the street I noticed an older (35? Maybe ?) women that looked at me every few minutes. As I stood a few inches away from her I lightly chatted with the relative thar accompanied me to lunch. I'm not sure if this older knew that I was with that other person. When the bus finally pulled up, my relative boarded first, then two other people. The older later immediately cut in front of me and boarded the bus. I instantly thought "Wow, that's so petty ! But I just enjoyed a great lunch, so why say anything.". In fact I thought her behaviour was funny. The older women directly sat across from me on the bus and kept staring at me about 40 times. Posted: 31 Aug 2016 01:40 PM PDT I recently started attending college and made a friend, asked for my number right off the bat although I said to use kik. Thing is I just responded in the moment, he downloaded kik and I have yet to give it but I get annoyed and tired of texting people very quick, usually I can tell right off the bat whether or not i'd enjoy texting them, now I wouldn't mind him texting me for school related work which is usually a brief convo every now and then, but I wouldn't want to actually hang out with him which is what he asked me to do earlier. Thing is I already implied I'll be his friend kinda or that i'd hang out with him and he already downloaded the app kik and now i'd feel bad saying he can't text me whenever. I know telling him right off the bat is better than letting it drag on and disliking him so how should I go about this? (i'm actually a Junior and he's like 23 so the age gap weirds me out as well) |

But when I am on my own I feel so anxious and depressed because all I do is overthink. Whenever I am with people I am always overthinking too, but they are at least a little bit of a distraction. I just find socializing so exhausting and cringeworthy. I enjoy being on my own, but I would just like the option of having people there when I needed them or wanted to do something fun. I'm brand new at a highschool where everyone has gone to school with each other since they were kids so everyone knows everyone and they are all really close. I've joined the volleyball team and we started about 3 weeks ago. I've met some girls on my team and they are super nice. And whenever the girls I've met are talking in a group and joking with each other, I feel distant and awkward. I only get out of my house if I have an appointment and I spend all day in my bed if I'm not eating. I'm a teen and I think I'm likeable. On the other hand most people I'll see out there that are intresting tend to be smokers and plain rude. The friends I did have cut me off and the ones I still have... Well I've stopped hanging out with them. To stop boredome I spend my time playing some game and the most on social media. I don't realy talk to people much just check out what they're doing. Without asking them ofcourse. I also listen to music like non stop and think about my life and how it used to be. I don't do the stuff I used to do. Hanging out with friends or playing football. |
