I'm 16 and a junior in high school. To everyone (besides my family) I'm second choice. No matter what I do or how hard I try I will always be second. My best friend is always first. I know that I shouldn't be jealous but it's just so hard not to when you know that no matter what you do it's never good enough. I'm never enough for anyone. For example, every single guy that both of us have met like her more. Every. Single. One. And I get it she's gorgeous but I just thought that maybe I could be good enough for just one person but I'm not. Today our neighbor who knows me very well and is best friends with my dad and step mom just asked my friend to watch her kids. It bothered me because I always watch her kids when she goes somewhere. But I wasn't surprised because it was kinda expected with me being me. I just wanna feel like I'm enough for someone. I may not be the prettiest, smartest, or the best but I try to be the best I can be. Hopefully one day someone will find me to be enough. Any advice?

Me and my closest friend (were 18 &19 both F) act different whenever I spend the night at her house. We are a lot more 'cuddly' and sleep really close to each other. We'll sort of rub our legs together under the covers and talk about random stuff. She brought up spooning the other day while we were trying to go to sleep and she said "awe just realized were doing it right now", then she quickly changes the topic and says it's weird. The room is usually in complete darkness and she had me trying to guess what toothpaste she had used so our faces were really really together for like 5-10 minutes while we were talking. Then a lot of times she'll make up lies like saying she kissed a certain guy, and then after a while of me being shocked she tells me she just made it up and laughs and tells me I act jealous. What I don't understand is why this only happens when we are alone. In public we act a lot different with each other we don't touch each other or make any physical contact. It's as if she changes into a completely different person when we're not alone, I just want to know why this may be.

I feel like my best friend, who I have been friends with since I was little, is self centered. Almost every time I invite her out or to my house, she cancels at the last second unless there will be other people there. Last night, she told me that she would come over at 8:30, and then she called me saying that she was not coming. It's understandable if it happens once or twice but this is happening so often that I am actually surprised when she doesn't cancel. I confronted her about this and told her that it really hurts when she does that because I feel like she doesn't like me, and instead of responding with an apology or something along those lines, she said I was being "silly" and waved away my feelings. She knows that I have social anxiety, but when we were at a potluck supper she forced me to sit with people I did not know well despite my protests, and talked to them and completely ignored me. She often tries to force me to socialize with others that I don't know because she wants to, even though she knows that I feel very uncomfortable in those kind of situations. She never really has any regard for my feelings, and I feel like she puts her needs before anyone else's. Once a girl asked for a dollar and my friend responded, "I have $10 but I want to spend it." I feel like I need to cut her off but I don't want to confront her because it will cause a bunch of drama, and she has been my friend for ten years. I really don't know what to do! Help?

One day a neighbor brought over a basket of home grown veggies out of their garden and my dad wanted to do a favor back for them: we bought them a pie, bring it home, my dad went over to their house TWICE today to bring the basket back to them. The second time he went over with the basket and pie they WERE home and they didn't bother to answer. The sign on the door read: Baby's sleeping, knock softly. My dad is frustrated because the neighbor wouldn't answer the door. This morning they were not home but when they got home this afternoon he knows they have been home. I don't think these neighbors interact with us (neighbors) and are not sociable with their neighbors at all. I don't know his wife but she is NOT sociable with anyone on our street, which I find to be weird. Why would anyone neighbor like that? Do you think that's rude? I understand that we all busy lives,I know you have kids, but with you not answering the door is not an excuse for it. I don't care if you have a baby or not. Just answer the f-ing door. I think it's good to get to know your neighbors instead of just hiding away from everyone. My dad just wants to get it done. I never met the mom before she does not talk with anyone on our street

Nobody ever starts conversations with me, I'm in college and it's been that way as long as I can remember. I have a girlfriend but she recently moved away to college, and I have a online friend and a fake real life friend, but I still never get to see them. I remember being a social outcast when I was 4 in preschool. I'm not sure what I do wrong, people say I give off negative vibes like I seem angry and that my body language says to leave me alone, but I don't know what to do to change that. I see a therapist but most of the time I spend with him we only talk about my psychosis. I was diagnosed depression with psychotic features a few years back. Another big problem is that even when I want to start a conversation I don't know what to say. It's kind of like my mind freezes up. I don't have very socially appropriate interests either, mostly I like to think about death, demons, hell, God, and other things like that. I do have an account on a social app and a dating app, I've had some luck meeting people on them but they usually start to dislike me after a short amount of time and stop responding. I don't know what to do, I always feel lonely.

I'm a freshman in high school and I thought I found friends last week because we had a lot of fun at the freshman mixer. But now I'm not convinced I want to be friends with them. One of them turned out to be super fake and a mean girl and the other 2 basically ignore me and leave me out of everything. Whenever I say something, they act like I'm not there. I don't know, I want to always see them but they're always "busy" even though they have the same excuse every time and when I call them out on it they get upset with me. So when I was like 13-14 me and some friends were hanging out and we thought it would be funny to say change all our Twitter bios. I changed mine to dark and weird stuff. So I deleted it (it was up for like 30 seconds). I only had like probably 10 friends and 0 tweets at the time. I moved to a new school a year ago and I've barely made any friends. Before I moved, I used to actually have fun. Now all I do is sit in my room and play games. At lunch all I do is walk around or try to stay in the bathroom to waste time. Like at my old school I used to be popular now my whole mindset has changed. My mom even called me lame. Basically, I feel I can connect with and talk to people much older than me, things that a lot of 13 year old are doing I think is childish, I'm really far ahead of everyone else in my class and I get and make jokes that people my age just don't get. I also feel like I should have been born like 30 years before I was born and I even look and sound older than I should. Is it just me or am I just ahead of most people, and why?

My guy friend like to tease me a lot about how I talk so softly. Like all the time. A few days ago my sister-in-law and I made plans for tomorrow. She never cancelled or made plans before. Today, my brother-in-law was hanging with my boyfriend and I and he got a text from her, asking if he wants to go on double date with her close friend where she lives tomorrow. He had no idea about our plans until I was like, "Dude, WTF! Rude!" When he read the message out loud. She lives an hour away. Where we are going is an hour away in the opposite direction. I know they won t want to drive 5-6 hours in one day (add it all up) so I know they ll choose the other plans over our plans. Wouldn t you be upset if this happened? It s not End-Of-The-World crap but still, y know? I was going to give her some books (we re both book-lovers) but now I am thinking of selling them, instead. She doesn t know about the books. My friend, Pierce, is my best friend I could ever have. But sometimes... let's just say, he goes over the rail. Oh and, I'm talking about some of the smallest things. I'll give you some examples. One day, I was just chilling with him outside of the courtyard when we were playing basketball with my other friends, and he said "HELP DAD." So I walked up to him and said, "Son, you're adopted." JOKINGLY. But instead, he punched me in the gut and said "Sorry bro, my brother is adopted, I feel bad for him." We were watching a Star Wars movie and he got part of the lore wrong (mispronounced Han Solo's name "hane") So I corrected him in a funny voice to let him know that I was, then again, just joking. Yet, he slapped me in my face.. I'm really scared of him and he gets upset over the SMALLEST things. He's way stronger than me. Even in social studies, we were doing a class presentation on endangered animals. I was doing a rhino and he was doing a eagle. But he accidentally put "Pierce by Bald Eagle" instead of "Bald Eagle by Pierce" on his board. Then again, me and my other friend had a good laugh and said "it's okay dude." But the next day he said he wanted to punch me in the face because of it. I'm just really scared of him...

i went to camp for a month and I got back 3 weeks ago. My best friend and I talked about hanging out the whole time I was gone, and I ve been so excited to see her. Since I ve been back she has cancelled and rescheduled our plans 5 or 6 times. The first time it happened she lied to go hang out with someone else. I texted my friend's sister today (because my friend was offline) and asked if her sister knew she was supposed to work today and she didn't know where she was. I decided to go in to work to cover her and keep her from getting into trouble for no call/no show. I had to rush around and speed to work to get there on time, not even being ready for work. After I get there she came in & asked why I was there. I blew up, yelled, and said a few curse words. She is always forgetting when she works so I was sure she wasn't going to show. In class I am really shy and sometimes if I see someone wearing a cute outfit or something I can't even compliment them because I'm too shy to. So what happend was we had a game and where dancing, wile the game was going on. A group of girls came over and they yelled you can't dance you white trash. So we ignored them. And one of them got my attention and told me to ask my color gaurd caption what she said, I walked up and tolder her. She slapped me. She said why would you provoke them!? Then acted like nothing happened. And I am smaller than all of the color gaurd members so they put me in front if they tried to touch one of us wile we where walking out so if one touched me because I am an easy target they would beat the crap out of them. So should I be mad or not because they did protect me, but the caption did slap me but it didn't hurt. I honestly don't know what to think of it she is in 10th grade. I am thinking of talking to her on monday. What should I say, I am working on being more assertive because I am passive? She is in 10th grade.

So long story short, basically my two friends were in a relationship and one of them (Who is my best friend, I will call M , and we will call her girlfriend H) would always tell me how they always got into arguments and whatnot. Then I told my concerns with my other close friend T who also told me she felt the same way, how she also felt that the relationship was taking a toll on M's health, and that H wasn't really putting that much effort into the relationship as M was. T also told me that she warned M on three different occasions that H didn't seem like she was that in tune with the relationship, but M just ignored her. One day, it came up again and I confessed to M about how I felt about H and how I didn't want her to get hurt because she has a hole in her heart which if she stresses out a lot, it will worsen. Plus she has been in two bad relationships. I also told her about the talk T and I had because I felt it would be keeping secrets from her, and she is my best friend. However, M seemed very upset and didn't speak to me much afterwards. Later on, I get a message from H accusing me of saying that I hated her and that she was leaving the relationship because of me. I never said that I hated H or anything, so I was confused, but I guessed that M told her what I said. Then late on I realized that M deleted me from everything and completely stopped talking to me. Then I saw that my other friends had deleted me from everything. I talked to T and asked her what the hell was going on and she said was accusing me of being a manipulative person and causing stress on M and H, and accused me of wanting them to break up and that I never cared about their feelings in the matter. I was so confused and told her that those were never my intentions and why was she accusing me of this all of a sudden, and that I didn't do anything wrong. Then she deleted me and made it clear that she doesn't want to be friends with manipulators, then stopped talking to me ever since. I don't know what else to do. I kept trying to say to T that my intentions were pure and that me and T basically said the same thing about H, so why was I being targeted? But T basically said that her intentions were pure and mine was basically to manipulate their relationship with the intention to break up, and told me to stay away from them basically. What in the world just happened? Who is in the wrong?

So since my brother brought he's ex home me and her became friends and she enjoys partying with me mainly because I'm gay and she enjoys spending time with me..since my brother and her broke up she's been inviting me to parties but I don't go for respect to my brother...

3 years ago my parents pulled me out of schooled and we moved country, to France. We moved to a house right in the country side. There is no school in the village, and only around 50 people live in the nearby village. For the first 3 years, I had zero friends. I don't mean like one or two, I had none. I never received any messages. Recently I have made a few friends but my social skills I think have been massively affected. I find it very stressful to create conversation and I really try to put on a smile and keep the convo flowing but its very hard work. Recently we had a Spanish student come and stay for an exchange. My parents are very strict and are now very ashamed and angry with me because they think I was very cold towards her and selfish. They think I never give anything. But the truth is, I had no idea how to talk with her. Every time I tried to make a conversation it seemed I just made it awkward. I felt drained and that I had no energy. I went through just over 6 months of depression recently, and I tried to tell my parents on several occasions. My parents only got very angry and I got a punishment, and on the rare occasion they did notice a sign I was behaving differently they would call it an act or me just being selfish. Perhaps I am selfish, but with support sites telling me it's not my fault, and my parents scolding me for this, the problem is not getting any better and its affecting the environment around me...

I always had a hunch my neighbors grandson was interested in me, but he had a gf and always denied his feelings. But I always catch him staring at me and it been 4 years. We didn't talk for a year and recently accidentally ended up texting about our careers and the week after his grandma mentioned to my mom that he and I should talk together about our careers etc. She also told my mom that he and I know eachother so why the need to bring up to my mom? :)

There was one girl who I've liked having as a friend who all the sudden started giving me the silent treatment and I would ask her if everything is okay between us along with me asking her if there was something she wanted me to improve on, she still would ignore me and then I would apologize to her for writing these messages to her and then she ended up blocking me on Facebook. Every summer holidays, my family and I visit an island. I've been there every holidays since I was born. There's only a tiny town on this island, and the only people that come here are the ones that have been going here for a really long time. So everyone practicaly knows everybody. It's a beautiful little community. And now everyone (including me) is leaving. I'm so depressed... This place is like home to me, and I'm gonna have to wait until next summer to come back here and see everybody. I'm gonna miss my friends sooo much. At home, I just feel so alone. Everybody at my school is a jerk... Too stuck up to talk to, and there isn't a single chance of finding a nice boyfriend. I just know that like always, I'm going to be so lonely... I try to make plans with my friend and I know this always happens in the back of my mind and feel stupid doing this but if I make plans to go see a movie or something she's already made plans. She always tells me if I go to things myself she'd be more down to doing things with me. Well I do go to things myself but when I find something awesome that would be fun to do together a she made plans. I know for a fact she always makes plans with other people. I am not facebook friends with someone but they can message me but it does not go to message request. it goes to my inbox. I was facebook friends with them though.
