my friends all are getting to do such cool things and get everything handed to them. like my best friend gets a 1000$ camera and i have to save up for mine. she does track and CC and she thinks shes the best at everything, when in reality shes not. She can also play the guitar, ukelele, and draw flawlessly. And at the same time all she does is mope around on IG all day. THen theres my other best friend who is kinda the same, he gets guitar lessons, saxophone lessons, drum lessons, he is in select choir and jazz band. Where as me; i practice my flute all the time and im not good and when im not doing that im working on my drawing, photography or working out. I want to MMA but my mom blows me off and wants me to be a preppy girl who does track and CC like my best friend but I dont want to (dont tell me why i should, im not asking for advice on this). ANd my mom is not understanding she doesnt care what i want and shes a *****. And now I feel jealous of my friends all the time and I just want to be happy for them. But at the same time I want to be as good as them.

So I really need to get out the house and meet new people. I don t really drink so no bars, but is there any place in Greensboro where people just hangout and just chill, that cost little to no money? Any suggestions at all?

So in class we had to this thing where we were supposed to cut the paper in half so no one in my group got scissors so I was nice enough to get it but by the time I got back they didn't need them anymore cause someone had ripped the paper pefectly. I'm a guy, and a freshman in high school. I'm kinda shy, and I don't really have a main friend group, so I don't really have many so-called "friends" yet. I DO have many acquaintances that I do say hi to every day or ask for instructions. For example, there's this guy that sits in front of me in my Biology class, and is also in my English and Gym classes. I say hi to him every day, and we're also lab partners, so we talk for a little every day, but that's really where it stops. We aren't really friends. I DO want to befriend this guy, but I'm not sure how. He's really quiet in his classes, but outside of classes (free period, lunch, etc) I see him talking to some of his friends and laughing, etc. So should I continue talking to him, or does he like already have his friend group? And most important, how do you turn acquaintances into friends? No rude answers please?

Im like emo/goth/grunge/burnout and i try to make friends with and talk to other people in my stereotype but i feel like they don't like me and think im annoying because all of them are in choir with me and they choose to sit away from me and they show that they don't want to sit by me and stuff. Hey, so I met this kid maybe 7 years ago and quickly became best friends. But just 2 years ago, he started wanting to do nothing but hang out with me. The second I got home from school he would call me even though he knows I have a lot of homework (we re neighborhood friends). After a while his calls got so annoying I just stopped answering him. That was a horrible decision. He would call at least 5 times in a row, wait 20 mins, call 2 more times, and then he would literally come over to my house and knock on every door circling the house and look through every window. This is just so creepy! I also have a summer job of mowing my grandfather s farm which would take around 4-5 hours each mow. There have been several occasions where while I was mowing, he would come to the farm on his bike and bike back and forth along the driveway for hours until I was finished. I bet you re thinking, why don t you just hang with him instead of avoiding him? The answer is that he is extremely annoying and obsessed with my stuff. He even has attempted to steal my stuff at some points. I am just done with him. I honestly never want to see him ever again in my life. Please help me, he s driving me mad!

Hello, I'm a freshman and today marked my third week of high school. The only problem is that I'm not exactly enjoying it. I went to a completely different high school than all of my friends because of a vet program that I wanted to participate in. In middle school, I had lots of friends, I knew everyone, and everyone knew me. Now, I don't know anyone at all. I've met some new "friends" that I sit with but they aren't like best friends that I would laugh and hang out with. We only really talk about classes and some stories about our lives but they aren't the type of people that I could see myself being close with. Everyone in this school pretty much knows each other already. I'm a pretty outgoing person so I'm not afraid to talk to new people but I still feel so out of place. I feel like I don't belong. All of my old friends seem like they are having so much fun in high school. Can anyone help me? Does anyone relate to how I feel? Thank you so much.

I'm turning 14 in 2 days. I have no party plans, no cake plans, I don't even have an outfit ready! My Mom is trying to give me ideas, but I really don't want a party. I just feel like with back-to-school and the end of summer, I haven't had time to think about it and be ready mentally. I feel like I need more time. I also am really tired lately as I'm coming down from a fever and not in the mood for a party. Honestly, I just want to stay home and watch some TV by myself. Has anyone ever felt like this?

I am a senior in in high school. It is a *really* small school with only 36 kids in my grade, and k-12 there is less than 400 kids. Because I listened to bad advice when I first came there in the last half of freshman year, I didn't act like myself and everyone got the wrong impression of me. Now, over three years later, I am still the 'new girl'. Everyone else has been there basically since pre-k, so my grade never remembers me. Example: at an unofficial 'class breakfast' I was one of the three girls not invited. The two other girls weren't invited because the others don't like them. I was just forgotten. The ones who planned it actually apologized to me, saying that I would have been invited if they had remembered me. Outside of school I am popular, like at my job, so I know how to be popular. I get all A's, am a cheerleader, involved in many activities, and am attractive. The thing is, they have the idea that I am still a shy former homeschooler. (I was told not be too outgoing when I first came so they wouldn't think I was full of myself.) The problem is, popularity at my school is based off of politics and alliances that have arranged the hierarchy of my class way back before social media... As well as who has the best bf/gf, who attends and hosts the most drinking parties, and sometimes just whoever is the loudest. How do I make this awful opinion of what makes up 'popularity' change?

I'm a junior btw (high school). I missed a month of football practice cuz I was traveling during the summer and when I came back and went to football practice I talked to my couch before and he said I can just leave or just stay at practice but not get any playing time. I went the first day and all of my old friends saw me and this guy who I used to always talk to and stay with during football last year got moved to varsity. I'm way taller than him and I can run faster than him and I can catch more balls than him but he got moved to varsity and I am stuck with the ******* small sophomores who doing know how to play. I'm a little pissed and I want to tell my coach that I want to quit tomorrow but a lot of my friends saw me and 2 coaches who like me saw me and were trying to help me. I will feel embarrassed if I leave because I met them but I really don't want to just sit around and do kiddy drills with the sophomores. Idk what to do. Plz help. I don't want my coaches and friends to think that I am a bandwagon but I don't want to waste 4 hrs of my time after school during junior year I have better things to do instead of sitting around in football. Hi, I'm a freshman in college, 18 year old male, and currently loving off campus. And I've been feeling VERY lonely (friendless). In my 11th grade year, I was used to having a lot of friends that loved and cared for me. 12th grade was much different but I still had some friends. This first year of college has been HORRENDOUS (social-wise). Pretty much all of my friends from high school don't even talk to me anymore. My best friend is in basic training in Oklahoma (we're still pretty close but I haven't been able to call him or text him, better yet see him. And no matter how much I try to get my friends to see my pain, I do not see any change happening. I've been in college for 2 and a half weeks now and still haven't found any good friends and I see people hanging out with their friends. I feel like I'm stuck in a prison cell. I'm usually happy, cheery and outgoing, now I've been more gloomy than happy. This is getting to the point where I sometimes think about taking my own life. Does anyone have any suggestions. Btw, please don't send a link with tips. If anyone does, it will not be nearly as helpful as a good answer, so please give answers that will help me, cuz I don't wanna kill myself.

I just started nursing school about two weeks ago and I really do not have any friends. It's not that it really bothers me, it just seems that everyone else knew each other already and no one is very welcoming, so I stick to myself. I have always been very quiet and do enjoy alone time, but it makes me feel guilty or left out when all the girls are running out of the dorm to go to dinner or hang out and I am here alone. Last year I went camping with a lot of friends for a mates party and one of the girls there was a really close friend, we got on really well and that party made us even better friends. Let me begin by saying I'm very shy unless I know someone well, and that I'm not ugly or weird. I'm an introvert for the most part. I'm beginning senior year as of today, and graduating in January. I have no friends/acquaintances in any of my classes so far, and I've been with the same groups of kids for years. We all sort of know of each other somewhat at this point. I don't have anything in common with them--the Star Trek, 'gamer' etc. geek doesn't exactly match up with any of the preps. People say I'm very mature. I feel as if I don't belong in school. I have social anxiety with people I don't know--I'm already stressing about this group project I have to do in a class. I work better independently. I'm also stuck talking to this girl I'm not a fan of because I'm too nice. She's a druggie, rebel, etc... I'm total opposite. She just wants to be my friend to be more popular, I'm guessing. I guess my point is; how do I cope? I try to focus on my school work and not friends like some have said...but there's always a point where you could use a friend. I don't like sitting alone at 40 minute lunches, not talking to anyone all day except someone I dread dealing with... I know I can be so much more in the world outside of high school

No clue if it just me, but somehow most "friends" I meet seem temporary. Somehow they only seem to want to be "friends" during the semester I meet them, while longest is a year. I can't seem to find anyone who wants to be "actual friends." I know people have lives and may get busy every so often, but it cant be literally everyone or most people! I bumped into a few people (maybe 3 or so) people and they somehow have the same friends since freshmen year of college, and they in their senior year. I met one person who graduated a year ago out of state and he still visits his friends there at the college. Idk if it just me, but I just seem surprised at those people who keep friends for that long during college only because no one seems to be around for long. How do I even find these people? I want those kinda friends but somehow get temporary people. So, was just wondering if this kind of temporary people "friends" is normal, or is there something that I'm doing where they are temporary? I know some people aren't that good of friends to begin with, but somehow it most people I come across or tend to talk to throughout semester.

My best friend attempted suicide and I saved her life. After that her parents took away her iPad and took her out of school. I haven't talked to her or seen her for the longest time. Every time she was sad or depressed I would be there for her and I would talk to her and call her and let her talk about it and let her vent and I would tell her that I'm there for her no matter what. That if she needs someone to talk to she can always talk to me. And we had this strong friendship bond. So today was my first day of high school. And i saw her. She wasn't even happy to see me she just gave me a smile and kept talking to other people. And when she saw her other friends she was so happy. So I asked her what's up and she said that her parents completely hate me and think that they don't want her to be around me or talk to me cuz I'm a "bad influence" and that they told all the teachers that she can't be around me and that if I am they have to tell her she'll get in trouble and if something goes wrong this year than they'll take her out of school. I missed her so so much and all I wanted was to see her. But now I think maybe I should let go... Now she's there in front of me where I can be around her but I don't wanna ruin it for her. Maybe it would be better for her if I just let go of her.

Ok so I'm a sixteen year old guy. When it comes to social interaction I'm clueless. I'm not always entirely sure what you can and can't do as a friend. Many of my friends are girls including my best friend. Now when I say friend I legitimately mean friend. I don't have any motives or crushes on them or anything like that. She and i are both aware that we only think of each other as friends. So when it comes to my best friend I have a few questions. First Is it out of line to ask her to hang out and watch movies? Secondly if it's not is it out of line to ask if we cuddle? Again we are both aware we only think of each other as friends. I ask these questions simply because I don't know. I want to respect her boundaries as friends and I don't want her thinking I want something more. I also need a way to ask these questions to her without her getting the wrong idea.

Me and my best friend have been best friends for almost 3 years. Last week she really started to annoy me, everything she did would make me so aggravated. For example she always complains about hating school, I get it because I don't like school either but always being negative about it doesn't make it any better and she always has something to say about it, about all the work all day everyday. Everything is always negative with her she always complains about something no matter what it is so it just makes me mad and start to think negative and I don't need that in my life especially during school. I love her as a friend because she's always been there for me but I'm going to end up going off on her one day when she's complaining and I don't want that to happen. And I know if I tell her something about her always complaining she's gonna have an attitude (like she does with everything) which is gonna make me more mad.

I just started college last week. I am at a small nursing school that is a 20 month program, and I have not made one friend. I am very shy and it is really hard for me to reach out to people, but there are about 20 girls staying in the dorm and they all became best friends on moving day. Most already knew each other before they came here, and no one really bothered to talk to me. Now I just go to class, and sit by myself in my dorm for the rest of the night hearing everybody else talk and laugh. It is really depressing. I tried to talk to some of them but they were for the most part really rude to me and did not want anything to do with me. I am about to just say screw it and be a loner, but the material is really hard and I feel that it would be good to have friends.I also feel like everyone makes such great friends in college, and Im not sure why I am the one who is left out. I don't know what to do it has gotten me really down in the dumps. Any advice would be great.

Hi everyone, thank you for coming :) I'm an Asian girl, but used to live in Germany and England since my birth until 10 years old, and then I went back to my country. I spent 6 years there, and recently I came back to Germany again, and now I've started my international school as a fresh Grade 11. I was never worried about what would happen in my new school, and I thought I would be totally fine because I used to live in Germany and I knew how it was to change school, and I also knew how to get along with the 'Western (European) style'. But now I'm thinking that I was totally wrong. There was another new student with me in my homeroom, but she's really tall and pretty with blonde hair. She's pretty quiet but the girls in my homeroom went up and talked to her the 1st day, even when I was sitting right beside her. My mum told me that "high school girls tend to team up with people with similar and pretty appearance", and now I'm starting to hate myself for being Asian, a characteristic of myself I was really proud of before. I'm starting to think that I can't fit in with others because I've been too absorbed with the style in my own country, and I forgot how to act like the people here. And I also like science, maths, computers unlike other girls. I realised I'm really awkward when talking to others, even though I always thought myself as a cheerful and outgoing person. I've totally lost courage and confidence. I don't know how to be myself, and how get along with others.

Today was the first day of school and no friends are in my class so, I tried to make new ones there is no one that I like and there is none that likes me. I already know most of these people and I don't like them at all, so I observe the people in my class and I can tell that I am not making friends with them. I am starting 8th grade and I will be stuck at this school until 12th. I tried to see if I could switch classes, but they basically humiliated me telling me that no friends isn't a valid reason and I could make new ones.The only time I could see my friends is at recess and no that doesn't include lunch. Lunch is the worst time of the day, you see I have my own corner in the room where I am alone and no one comes even near me. It's quite depressing really. Throughout the day, form class to class I am basically alone and it's quite painful. it's hard not to cry when you have no one by your side, an outcast. I am very different form everyone, but I don't see that as a bad thing. I am the smartest in the class because I have too much free time :) Well, I am very pathetic, shy, and extremely independent. I am female, this is regarding another female. A so called friend put my mail on the step in front of my front door last week without having the respect to tell me. There was nothing to protect the mail from blowing away. Fortunately, it didn't. I texted her and asked her why she didn't use my mailbox and she didn't have an answer. I told her that the letter on top was extremely important, it was a traffic violation. When I asked her why she didn't tell me, she said that she meant to but got distracted, which is a lie as that is the excuse she uses all the time for not staying in touch. She added other words in there which were very defensive and her apology was very sarcastic. I'm not mad so much about the mail being on my doorstep, it's the fact that she didn't give a crap to tell me. A knock on the door would have been fine, she couldn't even do that. I think I am right in my feelings here, if it was me dropping off her mail, I would of course tell her. I just feel that she disrespected my property by not giving a crap about what happened to it and then she can't even take responsibility and own up to her mistake, making me feel like I did something wrong. She converted to a different religion over a year ago and ever since she has an attitude of I'm better than you. Guess her religion taught her to treat her friends with disrspect. My 18th is in like 5 months and idk what to do. Most of my friends are younger than me, I only have like 3 friends that r the same age as me well a yr younger than me I mean xD an I have no older friends xD so idk what to d . Please help!!!!! PS.. I'm a 17 going on 18 yr old fem xD

So i'm in highschool and I've been in a new class for a while now. Two of my best friends are in the same class as me and they are the only people I have. In our class there are a group of girls from a different school who joined our class and they are all friends so one day me and my friends decided to talk to them and try to become friends the problem was, was that when we were talking the girls completely ignored me on purpose and dragged my friends away from me. I didn't care because I knew that my friends would probably come running back to me the next day or maybe later but they didn't, they hanged out with the other girls all day and left me all alone all day which made me feel really upset because they have never done anything like this before and I've never done anything like this to them either. After the girls even walked home without me which annoying because I'd got to the gate expecting them to be by there like usual and they could of at least told me they wanted to walk with the other girls. Well I don't want to make this too long but there are some other things that they have done which made me upset as well which I think don't need to be told. I tried making new friends but nobody wants to be friends with me, I tried on so many different people but nobody wants to be my friend. I'm already a shy person but I tried my best to make friends and I just cant. What should I do? Sorry it was soooo long :(

My parents always do little things for me just because, but i didn t ask them to or even need or want that thing done. whenever they ask me to do something and i cant or i just really dont want to cause its just so useless, they always throw the "i did this for you" thing in my face to make me feel bad. Is this bad on my part for not doing this thing for them or what?

This girl gave me her number(I am a girl too so this wasn't romantic) , and then whispered into my ear that I better f***ing text her. I dont even like her, she is insanely annoying and flirts with all my guy friends. I don't want to be mean, but there is no way I am going to text her, what do I do when she asks why I haven't?

Please note she is one of the people at school who is friends with everyone and everyone thinks she's so kind... Cept me. Today when my friend asked her If she wanted to come to lunch with her and she said yeah, got up, packed up her stuff before seeing me and said "oh, I didn't realise SHE was coming, no thanks" and sat down again. This isn't the only time she's done something like this, and if I sit at her table at lunch(she's friends with all my friends) she just glares at me and gets up for a different one taking half my friends with her. Last year, she managed to find out I was on my period and she told everyone in the school.(well everyone in my year found out). She also was taking to be and my friend and I was like oh I don't do much sport, and she was like. I can tell. You aren't skinny you know(I'm not actually fat) and everyone laughed. Then she was like to me go steal us some biscuits from the school I was like no. And then she was really rude to be so I just got up and left. And I spent the rest of last year just keeping out her way. She also found a really bad picture of me and put it on Instagram. And she started telling everyone I'm a lesbian because I'm not really into dating at 13 So yeah any advice?how to ignore her?coping? Update: I'm a person who hides all their emotions entirely. I'll be feeling really I'll for weeks before I tell anyoneI don't know why I am like this okay, but inside I care too much. It really hurts me inside when she says this but it pretend I don't care. So I ve just started a new school in sixth form with my best friend, the only thing is that it is cliquey and the students don t seem very open to new friendships, it s been getting me really down but I have only been there for 4 days, should i stick it out or should I go back to my old school?

I'm 31. After graduating from high school my then boyfriend one day told me out of the blue he had joined the marines because he felt to do something. 9/11 had a great impact on him.I could see in his eyes he was feeling he was doing the right thing but I was so angry at him at that time I left and didn't even wished him good luck when he left for boot camp. He was KIA protecting his fellow marines.I'm married now but I can't think how I wished he didn't go.I love my husband,but he SHOULD'VE HAD so much life ahead,he was 19.ONLY 19,and he's gone.I still wonder how his life would've been. She started rumor about my friend and I having sex and everyone believed it. I want to tell her parents how she was freaking out, thinking she was pregnant last year (true story!) to teach her a lesson. Is this a good idea? Its the new school, and I've just started a new subject which I hadnt previously been doing. However none of my friends are in this class and there is no seating plan so other people are all chatting with there friends. I feel like a loner and the people aren't very approachable/friendly. The teacher is very slow at setting work so I awkwardly sit there for the first 10 mins of the lesson. Should I stay in this class or ask to switch subjects? Any tips help, thank you. My friend in high school has begun smoking pot and cigarettes. He told one of his friends, and then she came to tell me. I m worried about his health and what this might do to him, short term and long term. I considered us good friends in middle school, although we grew distant in high school... Still, I m wondering whether I should go talk to him and try to help him, or whether I should just go and tell a counselor. I m worried that if I tell a counselor, he ll freak out. Give me advice, please??
