Question: Why does my dad love compare me with my brothers? Posted: 13 Mar 2018 12:50 PM PDT I have two brothers and my just loves to compare us. I'm about to be 18 little brother is 14 and my older brother is 20. He's always comparing us. He's always something along the lines "first born did this but my other two didn't" it just something I've noticed. Or just recently I was talking about prom with my mom since I'm a senior, I don't have a date yet so I joked and said I might have to go and steal someone's date and my dad goes ,Eli (my name )you should have a girlfriend you older brother nick did. You get my point. I get annoyed
Question: My step-dad has a hypnosis/therapy business in our house and i don't like it? Posted: 13 Mar 2018 12:38 PM PDT Since 2 years ago, my step father decided to get into hypnosis and help people with smoking and drug addictions and other problems. He started giving therapy sessions in my basement. Its really creepy because their a bunch of drug addicts and smokers that are coming into the house i live in. My room is a few doors from his "office" also im 13. My step dad also works at a high school but the end of this school year hes quitting his job as a teacher for full time therapy sessions. It's really weird and i dont know what to do because it creeps me out that their is a bunch of strangers coming into my house and now they are going to be here all day starting this summer. I don't like my step father either, he makes me uncomfortable. I don't ever visit with my father. My mother has full custody of me but i feel really uncomfortable in this house. What do I do about this?

Posted: 13 Mar 2018 12:04 PM PDT I'm studying mechanical engineering at a local university. I commute so I live with my family, but my aunt always belittles me as much as possible. If I don't do a task correctly she'll say something like "You're an engineering student you should be able to X out" or "Are you sure you're good enough to be an engineer if you don't know how to do X?" or "Why cant you calculate percentages in your head, you're not good at math", or my personal favorite: "You're an engineer I shouldn't have to be explaining X to you." It's seriously belittling and it pisses me off to no end. She has really high expectations and takes every opportunity to make me feel like **** because I don't always find a solution, know how to figure out a really complicated problem, or don't do math in my head. I don't know how to talk to her about it.
| Posted: 13 Mar 2018 11:29 AM PDT My step daughter was invited to a baby shower by my niece and appears to have never responded with a text back, but told her mother she did. She appeared to lie before saying she called my mom in the hospital, but my mother never got the call. Also we gave a birthday card to my stepdaughter to send to my mother with lottery tickets and my mother never got them. My step daughter is creating problems between with my family and between my wife and I. I am going to go through her text messages and confirm she is lying. How do I handle this between my family and my wife? My wife likes to take her daughters side. My step daughter who is 26 years old was invited to a baby shower by my niece and appears to have never responded with a text back, but told her mother she did. | Question: Why don’t I tend to meet other adopted people? Posted: 13 Mar 2018 11:23 AM PDT I'm 13 & So far, all the kids that I've met are with biological parents or look like them (that I know of). Some people act really surprised that my parents chose adoption because its not "most" people. I've read about families like mine in books, movies, and online articles. But never in real life or at school/people I meet. |
Question: I miss my daughter? Don’t know what to do? Posted: 13 Mar 2018 10:50 AM PDT I hate my baby mama but I love my girl. starting to miss my daughter. She will be 2 tomorrow. I want to see her but don't want to see the mother because we will argue and she hates me. And she moved away to a different state last month so I don't know how I'm gonna get there unless I catch a train but It will be like 30 dollars and I don't have that money now. I want to call her to let me see my baby on her birthday. She thinks I don't love my baby but I do
Question: I had a really hard time falling asleep last night? Posted: 13 Mar 2018 10:46 AM PDT I'm a college student. I'm a junior. I have so much work for classes. All I do is study every day and all day. I always have homework or a really important exam to take. There's never room to relax for just one day. I think last night i exploded from all the stress. I couldn't fall asleep, I felt too stressed to fall asleep. But I was really tired and my stomach hurt really bad. Also want to add that my mom's brother died. Every day I have been there for her while she grieved. It feels like I never had time for myself unless I am eating food or going to sleep. I had a hard time relaxing and for some reason I kept thinking about stupid **** that happened in the past that made me feel bad. It's funny and stupid. How can I relax myself? Do you guys have any pointers? Also why did I have such a hard time relaxing myself? I feel stressed all the time and I can always calm myself down. But last night it was scary it was like I couldn't relax myself.
Question: Why is my brother so anal and uptight? Posted: 13 Mar 2018 09:20 AM PDT He let me use his Netflix. However, I then shared that password with a few friends. He then apparently checks the IP log ins frequently and is detecting other IP sign ins. Meanwhile he is upset at me for this. Why doesn't he just chill?
Posted: 13 Mar 2018 08:41 AM PDT I just graduated from a 2 year rehab program. In that time I got very close with a special instructor. He had been there so much for me, helped me through the hell I had went through, he was an angel and a hero to me. He helped me in my crying moments, go out of his way fo give me hugs and just to help me through another day. We had been through a lot together. We connected on a deeper level, he was just very special to me, as he has said to me also... I was sitting outside, crying happy tears watching the sunset. I had just graduate and was a bit of an emotional roller coaster as, this was a huge accomplishment in my little life. I was about to say goodbye to everyone I had met and trained with for those 2 years. He saw me, and came out to sit by me. I thanked him for all he had done for me, for helping me grow, for helping me get through the hell I endured, for just being a special blessing to me. He hugged me for the longest time, one part he told me really got me, "Sometimes, teachers need to rise to the level of the student" what exactly did that mean? I kind of understood it and it made me smile.
Question: $80 or time with my mom? Help? Posted: 13 Mar 2018 07:46 AM PDT I have more of an "on-call" type of job, which gets super annoying at times. I put in my availability, but I don't know if I work until 3 days before. I tend not to leave every single one of those days that I put availability in for free, because I don't like not living and waiting to be called for work. You know what I mean? I'm the type of person who respects first commitments first. I was just raised like that. Well, I promised my mom that I'd help her out with something. My boss put me on the schudle for work during the same time. I'd hate to cancel on my mom, especially since because of her work schudle I rarely get to see her anymore. We have a tight realtionship, so I really miss spending time with her. On the other hand, if I tell my boss I can't then I will miss out on my paycheck... which would be about $80. Part of me says time is money and time with my mom can't be bought, but part of me knows I really need to build up my savings. What should I do?

Question: Grandfather passed away? Posted: 13 Mar 2018 04:45 AM PDT So my grandmother passed away and my parents are upset and crying, and I'm over here not shedding a tear and barely upset. I'm not trying to be tough or anything. I should feel upset but I don't. Is something not right?

Question: What goes through girls head about a dead beat baby daddy? Posted: 13 Mar 2018 12:21 AM PDT My brothers ex his baby momma, she has full custody of their child bevause my brother was abusive back then and she took the child away it's been 6 years and I always wonder if she ever thinks about letting him see it and that he's not here to absuse her ? Or do some girls not even care at some point because my brother isn't really trying to be in her life even for the child only because he wants to start new
Question: Why does my mom tell me to get a job but not my brother? Posted: 12 Mar 2018 11:52 PM PDT Does she live him more or something. I'm 22 and he's 25. I had a job but recently got fired so I'm broke. My brother hasn't had s job in 3 years. My little sister is 18 and pregnant so now we need more income because she wants to go to school and doesn't want to work. My mom is the only worker here and she constantly says I need and get a job like a grown man even though I am applying for places. But she never says that to my brother. Does she hate me or something? If she wants me to leave Then I'll go but then who will help her?
Question: Mt grandmas Cuckoo clocks drive me insane what to do!?!?!? Posted: 12 Mar 2018 11:03 PM PDT I can't sleep because of the clocks going off every 15 minutes!!! How is my grandma sleeping through all this noise?
Question: Wills, trusts, estates? Posted: 12 Mar 2018 08:16 PM PDT I'm trying to decide if I'm rightfully disappointed or a spoiled brat. My Dad died a year ago and left neither me nor my sister, or any of his four young grandchildren, anything whatsoever. Zero. The entire estate, not a small one, went to his second wife, who we have always supported. I thought we all had a solid relationship but this has me really doubting it. I just don't get it. Plus we have kids soon to be in college and one of us is nearly bankrupt.

Question: Parents are upset I m buying a house 30 minutes away? Posted: 12 Mar 2018 07:29 PM PDT My fiancé and I are getting married in August 2019 and have started to look for our first home together (currently, we both live at home with our parents). Ideally, we both want to stay in our current neighbourhood, but the area we re in is very trendy and well-developed, and the reality is that we just can t afford a house nearby (the rough average of a semi-detached is around $800 K). Because of the sky-high prices, we ve started looking in other areas that are within driving distance. We found a growing community we both really like, where the average price of a semi-detached is around $550k. It s only a 30 minute drive from where both our families live, and while my fiancé s family understands the need for the move due to budget restrictions, my parents have taken to calling me "stupid" and "irresponsible" for even considering moving outside our area. I ve tried telling them that we have to do what s best for us because it s our names on the mortgage, but they re furious because moving 30 minutes away will mean that any future children we have will be enrolled in a daycare, and "why would we want a random person watching our kids" when my mother is home to do it. I get that they want to be near their grandkids when they eventually arrive, but repeatedly yelling at me and calling me stupid is really wearing me down. I feel stressed out and defeated, and I know it s starting to wear on my fiancé too. Help on what to do?
Question: How to feel better about myself? Posted: 12 Mar 2018 05:52 PM PDT My son found a worm in his food which I prepared I feel so shame how to feel better
Question: How to convince parents to let me use my computer on weekedays? Posted: 12 Mar 2018 05:35 PM PDT how can i convince my parents to let me use my computer on weekdays? my parents are extremely strict, i am forced to study 6 hours a day. i have great grades all a s except for one b right now. Ever since my grades have been going higher they get even stricter and stricter and take away most of my priviliges. i am one of the only 14 year old kids without a phone or any social media. i feel left out at school etc. what can i do to convince them? whenever i ask for something they always complain that im never happy with what i have and that im "spoiled" or that i need to do a "reality check" . all my parents care about is college and grades and even then when i prove good grades they say i wont ever get into a good college
Question: Is smothering & controlling your kids bad parenting? Posted: 12 Mar 2018 04:30 PM PDT Is it bad parenting when your parents are way too strict and smothering towards you? They are more harsh on you and the parents want you to be what they want you to be? Then even when they learn from their mistakes with the younger siblings, they are still pushy as ever with yuo I consider it bad parenting because it makes me resent being the older sibling sometimes? I know this is random, but I remember my parents refusing to let me play with barbies as a child, but had no problem buying Gameboys for me and bros, which made me more of a tomboy. I don't even see why people defend this when it can potentially cause sibling rivalry and resentment. It's bad parenting. I know I'm too old to complain about this, but this is why I can't wait to move out & get away from my smothering family lol.

Question: How to handle intrusive inlaws? Posted: 12 Mar 2018 04:01 PM PDT Backstory is that my husband is deceased. My in-laws have been kind and supportive given the circumstances. Although lately, it seems they are being very intrusive regarding my son. They want to know all about his doctor appointments, and have gone so far as to say they will start scheduling them., or putting him on their insurance. I have a stable and successful career with good insurance, and my son is healthy. My FIL will call or text repeatedly. The other night, I told him I was at dinner and would call back the next day, and received 2 texts and a phone call between then. Seemed rude considering I told him I was busy. I also deleted social media partly because of them. I would post something about another city, and they would assume I wanted to move, and tried to convince me not to. Not their decision to make. He also keeps telling me I need to buy a house. I am trying to save for one, but also trying to rebuild emotionally and financially after his loss. It will take time, and I am doing my absolute best between work and school. How do I establish boundaries with them? I came from an emotionally abusive home growing up so l don't like conflict.
