I have read constant back-and-forths between people who say they can love someone eternally when their looks falter (and they do, as I have seen with my parents) and those who say it cannot be done unless you are as close to resembling a model as possible; to those in the latter camp, I beg the title question.

I have not dated someone in 3-4 years, and it leaves me with moments of insane loneliness. I am only 17 years old, male, and I know that I still have plenty of life to live, well not technically, you never know when your time is; but anyways, I digress. I have moments whenever I experience extreme loneliness. Like, almost crying, holding myself back. I see all my friends get into relationships and it seems so easy for them. I mean, I am not a bad looking guy. I am active, I am not overweight, I go to the gym regularly. I stopped going for about 4 months and lost about 20 pounds, but retained most of my muscle. I went down in weight, but I know that is not the reason. I am 136pds, 5'10. Like I said, I am not a bad looking guy, or so I believe. I guess it is because I have not tried hard enough to try to find someone I actually connect with. I just feel like I cannot keep living like this. I want to find someone, It physically makes me feel sick/drained. I feel sad at times, because I see stuff with my friends hanging out with their significant other. I guess it is just jealousy. I basically just gave up. About 3-4 years ago, someone I believed I would be with for the rest of my life basically tossed me aside like a used towel, and I have not been too into relationships anymore. I made sure it was clear if he did not leave her alone it would end badly for him. Maybe I am just not likeable. Maybe there is something I am missing. Or maybe I am just not trying hard enough.

My girlfriend and I have been together since my freshmen year of high school now I'm a senior, her and I have matured together and went through all of those crazy high school phases. She means a lot to me but I balance it out with school as well. My grades are all A's and one B.
