Question: How many adult millennials are still living at home?? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 01:43 PM PDT I am just curious, many of my friends still live at home with their parents. The ages range from 19-27!!! I live on my own, in my own apartment. They have tons of more spending money than I do seeing as they pay their parents little rent if not any at all. They also talk about how they're planning all of these vacations and some are saving for a house. The most I've heard one of my friends pay is like $260 for everything. Sometimes it's makes me sad that I'm working full time &full time college student and I'm barley making it. Living at home was not an option for me after high school.... it seems like everyone lives with their parents, anyone have knowledge on this??? |
Posted: 21 Mar 2018 01:20 PM PDT My in-laws wanted to celebrate a family tradition, and asked to host it at my house (they like my cooking)...anyway, it was a small get together...5 people in total...one guest, a cousin, accepted the invite with her son...and was told that dinner would be at 6pm....I anticipate this person being late, because it s very typical of her...but when 7:00 came, and all the food was ready, and we were all hungry and waiting, there was no sign of her...no text, call, nothing...so, I texted her...asked if she knew what time she would be there...she was very matter of fact..."not sure, why ?" I said, the food is on the table....all she said was she was tired, and would not be coming....I found this very inconsiderate....I get it if someone s mood changes, but unless there s a true emergency, a simple text a couple of hours ahead is all it takes to let a host know that you are not coming...I put a lot of time, money and effort into this dinner, and I just think she was very inconsiderate |
Question: Do I have bad choices in men? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 01:18 PM PDT I'm comparing my experiences to my friend. My friend will start talking to guys and maybe date them and when she decides to end it, he guys are super nice to her when she ends it and after she ends it. The guys still compliment her and are kind to her. When I talk to guys or maybe decide to date them and I decide to end things with them they are always so rude and mean. They go out of their way to say rude stuff and even try to harass me where I have to block their number. And if I see this guy in person he gives me bad stares and really tries to get under my skin. The thing is my friend goes for the bad boys. I go for the nice guys. So I don't get it. Do I just make bad choices? Do I have bad luck? |
Question: Why do some new parents criticize your life choices? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 01:16 PM PDT I've never followed society's or cultural specific guidelines. In asian culture, we had to graduate with a major that guaranteed a career by 23, get married by late 20's, & have a baby and house by 30. Instead, I listened to my gut - found my love in my mid 20's, the right major/career came to me in my late 20's, and now currently in grad school. You'll never be "ready"; life is never perfect but I'm a big believer in emotional growth. I got into a relationship bc I was ready. I wanted to take time before marriage/not rush. I want to "enjoy" these life events. I see people rush into them to feel that "fun, big thing" only for them to hate it or become resentful/miserable. I am now at the stage when marriage feels right, as well as a family. I know that kids are hard work- they're cute but brats. I get it, parents! haha but some parents I know seem to resent it more than enjoy; then there are some that are exhausted but find joy in it (I want this). My boyfriend's cousin has a 2 year old + 1 on the way. His wife was criticizing my life choices, "aren't you my age? You should be getting married soon. What about kids?" I was hurt but just realized she said this when I got back from a work trip (+bf got to come, we did some sightseeing) to which she said, "MUST BE NICE, going on a work trip." Their child wasn't planned but they're great parents & doing the best they can. I'm aware of my choices + it's consequences but she made her choice. Not sure why she has to rag on mine... |
Question: Switching Households? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 12:43 PM PDT I am 13 years old and I live with my mother (who is single). I want to move to my dad's house but I am not sure if my mother would approve. My parents never married and they broke up about 3 years after my birth. After 10 years of living with my mother (now in the present), I want to move to my dad's house. Is there any legal age that I have to accede to move to my dad's house? Thank you. |

Question: How do I get my mom to talk to me about something I probably shouldn t know? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 10:12 AM PDT Last night before I went to bed I snuck a glance at my mom s phone and in her search bar it said private investigator.... so I know she is curious about something. Keep in mind her dad (my grandfather) has just brought her back from dinner that night. I went off to bed by now it is about 10:30 - 11:00 But as I lay there quietly listening to them talk I heard my dad ask, "So what did you and your dad do?" and she started explaining that she has a half brother. This scared the hell out of me and I quickly fell asleep. I am now sitting next to my mom at lunch and I want to coach her into telling me but I have no idea how. I can t really say, "Hey, so what is this about a half brother you might have?" cause I was definitely not supposed to hear that. How can I get her to talk to me about it? |
Question: My mother is an abusive person? help.? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 09:58 AM PDT i am only a younger sister and have watched how my mother has beaten up my brother, in a violent way . the excuse was that he was naughty. parents do discipline their childrens but not in this way right? not in a way that it got so bad , there were marks all over their body. she has been controlling of everything i do or even want, i can't have the things i want , unless i beg for it. the kids here in school are so different from me, what i meant different was, no one has the marks i got on my arms. and they started bullying me for it, while some told me my mother shouldn't do that to me. my mother said it was for my own good but you know its just wrong somewhere. i grew up with bullying from school because i think really differently as i was treated badly at home, so my thoughts and actions are different from these normal kids who had a loving home. my quiet brother has grown up to a point he went mental, and told me our mother was the main reason why he is in this state. she burned us, locked us up, hit us with a belt, caned us that left marks and little blood, i still remember the face she has when she was hitting me. it caused me so much trauma, i was in pain everyday. my thoughts made me feel that i am never good enough, that i am unwanted. she has never given me love, only punishment. my father on the other hand, did not bother what was going on in the family even though he sees it and told us to understand our mother! it hurts to a point that i can't even cry. |
Question: Jealous family member.....? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 09:37 AM PDT Sis I think may be jealous of my cousins that have worked hard and built their homes meanwhile she stays home while her hubby makes $500 a week and on foodstamps and Medicaid. She says my cousins are being flashy by posting pictures of their homes I told her if they worked for it why can't they post it? My sis has two boys one that is going to maybe go to community college and she is waiting for financial aid to pay the bill because their income is very low. I don't understand why she constantly bad mouths people that work for what they have. Thoughts!??? |
Question: Why am I scared of my parents? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 09:21 AM PDT I am a 23 y/o male and I still live with my parents. I am just scared to be myself around them. Also, I go to school and work and whenever I have a break and want to relax my parents come up with chores for me to do. How can I tell them that I need some time to relax and get focused? |
Question: If my teenage sister is acting out & goes unpunished, should I do something? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 07:25 AM PDT Despite her best efforts, my mother has always had trouble providing for me and my two siblings. Me (19) and my older brother (21) have joined the military and done very well for ourselves. I also attend a pretentious private college, so I'm worried our success has intimidated her and fears that everyone expects her to do as well as us. She's 17 and has been sneaking out, not coming home all night, smoking cigarettes and weed, drinking, bouncing from guy to guy, ditching her old friends for new friends that are a negative influence, and last nine weeks she failed 5/7 classes. She's always been an A/B student with ambition and vigor, despite her rebellious nature. This has been going on for a few months now and she has yet to face any real consequences. I'm worried this is teaching her irresponsibility. I bought a car all by myself and I own it outright, but the college I go to does not allow freshmen parking, so I sold it to her for $500, however the title is still in my name. She owes me money and has done nothing to deserve a car while I worked my butt off to buy it for myself. Would I be right to confiscate her keys and trade it in as I'm planning to buy a new car? Is it fair if she gave me money for the car, even if I give her the money back? I'm her big sister, not her mother, but I feel like something needs to be done. |

Posted: 21 Mar 2018 03:39 AM PDT Do you think i should just get my own plan an be done with it? My dad tracks my phone, im 23 and a junior in college. I stay in a dorm just a hour away from home. If i leave the city it notifies his phone, then he calls me asking where im going, or if i hangout with my friends at their house he asks where am i,even though i know he knows where i am. When i stay out late even at 9:30pm i get calls every hour wondering what am i doing and why havent i left yet. He calls me more when i go houngout with my friends than he does when im in school during the week. I feel hes invading my privacy too much and keeping tabs on me. He says its for safety but he keeps a time stamp on my mom she she leaves and goes to work, but wont let anybody use the tracking app to see where he is. I dont mind telling them where im going, but he s not giving me space to be independent to manage my social life and school. I havent even been in major trouble warranting tracking since 4 yrs ago and even then they didnt track me, when it probably was necessary. I dont drink, do drugs , go to bars, clubs or parties. I go to my friends and boyfriends parents house 1 or twice a week on the weekend and that s it. Im considering getting on my own phone plan. I can easily afford it, but is that the best move. Ive talked to him and my mom about my privacy and independence but he still doesnt butt out enough. He does the same to my sister and she s 26 and doesnt even live with them . |
Question: Too poor to afford glasses? Any sites that help? Posted: 20 Mar 2018 11:11 PM PDT Our insurance switched from blue cross/ shield to some horrible one. We cannot afford glasses for my sister and I. My mother bought her contacts but I feel bad so I am going to wait because I know my mom doesn't have much money and I know my dad won't pay for me even though he has a lot of money. I only have one contact left for my right eye, and 3 for my left. I have been using my right contact for over a month until August I can finally afford to get news ones/ glasses. My mom might get laid off which makes things worse and I am trying to find a second job while trying to go to college. I might have to put of college just to support family. Please if anyone knows any sites that help or coupons let me know please. Thank you. |
Question: What would you do if you do in the situation while at a funeral? Posted: 20 Mar 2018 10:09 PM PDT If you lost a relative whom was dear to you . And another family member whom you practically hate, whom your estranged from , sat right next to you at the service. Would you ask them to move, or would you yourself , get up , walk away and find a different seat? |
Question: CPS in Georgia little 10 year old girl need advice now!? Posted: 20 Mar 2018 09:34 PM PDT Basically my friend. Paid her brother $1k to bring his daughter to her. (He was on drugs) she's a good person. Just wanted what was best for the girl. She raised her for about a year. Turns out the child was at a 1st grade level academically. Only attended a year of school total in her life. My friend took her in, got her to where she needed to be and was doing GREAT. Then her mother who's a captain in the US ARMY decided she wanted her daughter back. My friend of course wanted them to be together. So decided to let the girl go to her mom ... well I get a call tonight From my friend. Apologizing for not keeping in touch the last month stating she just flew in town from seeing the child.... her mom got mad at her one night and beat her shaved all her hair (she's mixed) and made her scrub the floors...kicked her in her stomach... the child was bruised head to toe... had scratches on the back of her head from her mom shaving her hair off... so sicking. Now the child is in foster care, living with some family. (She's 10) because the state of Georgia will not release her to my friend because she lives out of state. The mother is currently vacationing in the Dominican posting pictures on Facebook...WTF can I do!!!! I love this little girl. I have a daughter and they were best FRIENDS. My friend didn't even tell me she was letting her go back to her mom (who abused her before) I didn't even say goodbye and I basically kept her all summer. HELP |

Question: Is 22 too young to have a child? Posted: 20 Mar 2018 07:30 PM PDT My sister turned 22 in October, she is currently 16 weeks and is due around late August I believe. Anywho, my mom is super disappointed in her because she has not finished school, however her boyfriends parents are very happy seeing as they are going to be grand parents! He is the oldest of 4 boys. Is 22 too young to be a parent? She has her own car, they both do, however he plans to move in with us until they save for a place of their own. |

Question: How do I get myself together? Posted: 20 Mar 2018 04:54 PM PDT I've had the most depressing 6 years of my life of everything always being taken away from me and promises. I'm tired of everything man and idk where to start here there anywhere i just i'm just at the end of my rope here tired of being trapt with people who could honestly care less of my happiness i want to be free someone help me. I just want to be alone and away from everyones drama cause lord knows i can't handle it anymore. |
Question: Why might 13 year olds be interested in clubbing? Posted: 20 Mar 2018 04:39 PM PDT 18-19 is the legal age in Canada depending on province. My step-cousin and her friends are sooo fascinated with this. I didn't even know what clubbing was until I was around 17 or 18 myself back then. They don't have any older siblings who go clubbing so they hear about it. All four girls are the only child or an oldest sibling. They don't hang out with people old enough for it. |
