Posted: 11 Feb 2018 07:18 PM PST my boyfriend and i were going strong for 7 months until his ex girlfriend came back around. they both wanted to be friends and at the time i was a little scared but let it go. she made moves on him but he still wouldn't break off talking with her. we ended up getting into a rough patch after that and i thought we were actually getting better because we talked through what was bothering us after that. he ended up inviting me out and as we sat in his car he said he couldn't be with me. he said i just wasn't what he needed and i wasn't right for him. my step sister had recently pass so i begged him not to leave me just yet because it would be too painful and he said he didn't like to be manipulated. he went on a tirade about me being too difficult and confusing and i wasn't fun like i made him think i was. i'm too shy and awkward in situations apparently and i was going to end up staying at my dead end job because i was too lazy to motivate myself. he hit me in some personal spots but what's worse is he said he enjoyed hanging out with his ex more than me. i asked him if he was getting back with her and he yelled at me for not trusting him. so 5 months go by and i get better. and he comes back. everyone said he had changed and regretted what he had done. he never asked out his ex and cut contact with her. we got back together and i'm happy but whenever i look at him i also feel sad and i just think about what he said. i thought i was over it but it just randomly hits me He has apologized endlessly and put in a lot effort since starting back up. we both have worked on ourselves and communicate a lot better...it's just this feeling of pain i get. i'm afraid and unsure and want to get over it but a part of me can't I'm sorry Swimming in it but when did I tell him who he had to be? i never did i let him be friends with her despite how i felt. the only time i voiced up was when she was making moves and tried for more than just friendships and seeing how we were in a relationship that seemed understandable. |

I broke up with my ex of 1 year about 3 months ago. I've gotten a little better, but I still miss her a lot. My reasoning for the breakup was that she was very clingy, needy, insecure, and had a lot of jealousy issues. It wasn't that I didn't love her, it just made the relationship very hard and straining, and we fought a lot towards the end. Anyways, I've been very alone lately and it got me thinking a out whether I'd find love again. I've always been regarded as an attractive guy, but I'm pretty shy when it comes to talking to girls. My ex was very beautiful so it took a lot of courage for me to ask her out at the time that I did. But now my self esteem is at rock bottom, I'm sad, and I'm depressed. Both of us had severely different views of what we want in life. And the thing is, is that I've dated 2 guys in my life. And that's not wrong but I also want to make sure that we could actually make it on our own, having different aspirations. And to top it off a few weeks ago I found my self having a SMALL crush on another guy and we have so many similarities in our interests and futures. This one spot we go to is our favorite and it's a very laid back small joint and we know the manager so we're always taken care of; Not to mention the girls are really chill. You know how you go to some places and you can tell the ladies are definitely pressed about the money and are pretty much harassing you as soon as you walk through the door before you can even get settled? Well that happened today. Anyway, my question is, am I an ******* for not wanting to spend my money on a girl that I'm not really not interested in? None of the girls at this big venue did anything for me. And like I said, I know they have to make money and I don't want to come off as someone that's cheap but I wasn't wasting their time. Me and my buddy we're really just talking about business and had a few drinks, he got a dance from a girl and that was pretty much. But the one girl I mentioned earlier really harassed me for a good 5 minutes about not wanting to get a dance from her. So be honest. Am I in the wrong? In early September, I started talking to this girl (same age) and started dating her in Nov. It got to our 3 month anniversary and we were good. Now the next day (Sunday) came around and I noticed that she was being kinda distant (doesn't go to the same school as me, but we still talk everyday). Communication was less frequent and different like something was bothering her. Come Wednesday, 9 hours go and I haven't heard from her. Finally I do, and she starts by saying she was confused all of a sudden about how she was feeling towards me and she couldn't explain why. She was also confused as she didn't know if she didn't want a relationship period or just not with me (she did mention this at the start of our relationship, but said i was quickly changing her mind).Because I care enough about her and her happiness, I told her that I'd rather have her be happy and not in a relationship with me, than to be with me and not be sure about how she's feeling. We agreed to break-up. She sent me a video that communicated her thinking, which was that she feels she needs to work on herself and making herself happy before she can make me or anyone else happy. I told her I support her and wish nothing for the best because I want her to get better, and the immediate plan is to try and stay friends. What do you think? Does it make sense? And at the party she also invited a guy from another school and she was all over him at the party and they kissed when he was leaving meanwhile, I was hanging out with her best friend who is also a mutual friend to me. So during the party we were flirting a bit and we were having a great time. The music eventually got too loud and so me and her go into a room and we have a deep conversation and she tells me she's never kissed anyone and so we look into each other's eyes and we lean towards each other. Until my ex comes in to grab something out of the room and by that time my mom had texted me saying she was there to pick me up. When I get home I get bombarded with messages and phone calls from both people My ex and her friend. Soon after when my father was done paying, and soon to walk off, i was soon to follow, and the girl went on to wave to me and smile somewhat big to me, and i did in return. Now for those who say this is a bartender thing, i feel otherwise, because for one i don't know her personally, only by view do i know her, and two out of the tables we we're sitting, instead of the bar counter, she was come over a variety of times to ask us if we were interested in anything else, but with the other tables near us which were a few, she didn't do so not even once. Now he's constantly telling me about how good the money is that he's making, since he has several different sources of income. He has told me that he's making around 9/10,000 a month. He's bought several luxury items/electronics since. I've never asked him for extravagant gifts or anything. Yet anytime a holiday comes around he has super expensive requests. I dont ask him to pay my bills, don't ask him to pay for my nails, hair etc. he's been talking about buying a rolex for years now, and we've always argued about it because i dont think that's a priority at all. He's Spending 5k on this watch for his birthday next month, then plans on spending around 3k to host a birthday dinner. Right before then we are supposed to take a trip to DOminican republic for my spring break ( I'm still in school) and he is asking me to pay for half the trip (trip total is 2400) and my flight (700). I told him that i don't really think that's fair, although i don't mind paying for some of the trip, coming off of 2k while 2kis apparently nothing to you seems funny to me. He also will ask me to pay for things (like a gift for his friend @$350) and he'll pay me back. He still has not paid me back and even gets upset when i ask about it. It's extremely frustrating and his response to all of this is that he always pays when we go out on dates. Is he selfish or am i expecting to much from him? |

| Question: How do you stop anxiety ruining new relationships? Posted: 11 Feb 2018 04:22 PM PST I'm on a waiting list for CBT, but I've always suffered anxiety so don't see it going away any time soon and I have a new guy now...who is rather not scare off! He's already seen my insecurities more than once, I'm not used to dating so unsure how to show interest without being too full-on or needy, my anxiety means I need validation from him...which isn't attractive. It's early in the relationship, in fact it's not even officially a relationship yet, but he's shown interest in it continuing into the future...why can't I just relax about that?! |
