Question: Can/should I adopt her? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 12:51 PM PST I am a 25 year old single guy with a 15 year old niece Jill, my sister's daughter. Jill often comes to my house for help with her homework. If we finish her homework late she spends the night a my house and I take her to school the next morning. She told me she was a nervous wreck from her mom and dad fighting all the time and they were getting a divorce. She wanted to stay with me until the divorce was final. I told her that was OK with me but she needed her parents OK which I thought would never happen. However her parents thought it was best for her not to see them fighting all the time and agreed she could stay with me until there divorce was final. I was very surprised by their decision but I think they were thinking of what their fighting was doing to Jill. Jill moved in with me and has been living with me for 3 months. She is a very nice person and is no longer depressed. We have had a lot of fun time together going to school events and sporting events. Jill ask me if I would adopt her so she could stay with me permanently. I told her that I doubt if her parents would let that happen. I don't know if you can adopt someone that has living parents. Does anyone know if that can be done? Is there a better solution than adopting her? Could she just live with me if her parents are OK with it? |
Question: I broke up with my boyfriend and my mom is punishing me for it? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 12:48 PM PST She wanted us to get married. My boyfriend wanted to marry me but I didn't want to marry him. As I dated him i only saw bad than good and so I ended it. But my mom lived through me and through that relationship. She had high hopes and when I ended it she told me, "You are never going to find someone as good as him." She keeps asking me why I broke up with him and when I give her my reason, it's not a good enough reason for her. But im happy without him. Im happy i broke up with him. And my mom is punishing me for it. It's making my healing processing worse and it's making me feel depressed. She keeps asking why I ended it and she doesn't understand. It's torturing me. I just want to move on. I'm 24. Is this normal. It's making me feel crazy. What should I do? I keep telling her to leave me alone but she won't. |
Question: My boyfriend is talking about marriage? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 12:23 PM PST We have been dating for two months and he's the first boyfriend. Is this normal? Is this a red flag? He's already told me that he loves me and I didn't say it back because I don't feel the same way. It just feels too fast... Is this normal? I'm new to dating and i don't know if this is too fast. We are both 22 years old. |
Question: How can I get my brother to stop barging in my room? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 12:13 PM PST Alright, I don't have a lock on my door, so that means that my brother can barge in my room anytime he deems necessary, which is quite literally all the time. I've told both of my parents, who do nothing but tell him to leave me alone. For Gods sake, he's walked in on me changing multiple times! This has got to stop. I'm far past my limit. I need some way to get him to stop, or to prevent him from entering my room. Can anyone help me out with this? |
Question: How should anyone be in a relationship? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 11:58 AM PST I always hear dos and don'ts from people about relationships. But what are those dos and don'ts from you guys? What's your list? Just curious, thank you. |

Question: Why do people “not like” me? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 09:36 AM PST I've noticed that a member in my family dislikes me and makes it known as well. By either not telling me about family events or using be excuse that kids are not allowed. But come to find out kids were allowed but (it) didn't want me there. And then another female I️ know who I've Don't nothing to has an issue with me as well. For what? I️ have no clue!. I'm a nice person. I️ can be mean but I️ haven't been mean to either of these people. I️ just don't get what's the problem... this wouldn't be the first time someone had an issue with me.. but it boggles my mind why. |
Question: Why is my mom mad at me? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 09:24 AM PST My mom has a younger boyfriend which practically drains her of her money and some how I am the one she yells at. I give her money for a lot of things and she still yells at me and tells me things like I'm useless and annoying. She has been driving my car since her broke then, I help pay for food, Internet, power, and even offer to help pay fix her car. All she makes very difficult and she will throw stuff, have panic attacks and simply make my life a pain. I don't get why she is so angry at me when I'm the only one who even tries to help. |
Question: Was my mom justified in this? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 08:42 AM PST Today I woke up to my mom cooking breakfast and the first thing she said to me was "you should've been the one making breakfast this morning", and I totally respected her opinion and I understood where she was coming from. I then told her, in a civil manner, that I had cooked breakfast four days in a row during the week. I just wanted her to get a little bit of context. I wasn't trying to be rude in any way. I kind of feel like if she wanted to make breakfast this morning, she should have woke me up earlier and asked me..right? How as I supposed to know what she wanted...in the middle of a sleep. Afte I declared that, she got so loud and angry and started shouting things like "WELL YOU DIDN'T ASK ME" and other nonsense things. I was calm and asked her why she was getting so angry over one small thing I said (that I had helped out the other days). She went on to say that she wasn't "angry" and that she was just "stating facts". It's like she always wants to start an argument/disagreement so she should be right. I always thought that was childish and so wrong, especially for a 38-year-old mother. Why would a parent want to argue with a child, who they already know is "wrong"? I just don't understand it... She literally said she was justified in yelling and being loud because she was stating facts. Why can't she just do it in a nice way? I was nice and civil. |
Question: I'm 22 and my dad still won't acknowledge me? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 07:44 AM PST I have been trying to reach out to him for years, I grew up with out knowing him and I want to at least talk to him one time. I messaged him on Facebook and all he doea I read and never responds. Is there anyway to Make him talk to me? |
Question: Stepdad beats my little brother over math problems? What should I do? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 07:35 AM PST Okay so my stepdad hates me so bad cause im not his real child and he treated me like **** all my childhood. Since my mom didnt do anything i tried to talk to the school about it and he got in trouble but he told them it wasnt true and they believed him and called me a liar. Im 16 now and my lil brother is 9 But he loves my little brother cause thats his child. But sometimes he beats my little brother over simple things. Once he was doing math and he didnt understand and got a few problems wrong my stepdad took his belt and beat him and he says he's stupid. It really pisses me off because I love my little brother and he shouldnt get beat over things like this. I think you shouldn't beat the child you should explain to him how to do it. I tried to talk to my mom and grandma about it they told me that I better not do anything cause hes gonna kick me out. I really dont like this. Ive tried to sit down and talk with him but he pulls the its my house you obey my rules. Ughh I just want to beat the **** out of him so bad for beating my little brother. My brother isnt a bad kid he has good grades and stays out of trouble. But i just dont like it when he beats him over stuff like this. What should I do ? |
Question: My sister is such a brat, what should I do??? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 07:13 AM PST I'm 15 years old and she's 11 years old. I feel like she hates me, over the years she has changed so much in a bad way! She used to be so sweet and caring and we were like best friends. And starting at 10 years old she has started talking back, saying very rude things, and giving the most disturbing looks ever! When I'm trying to tell her something, she will always talk over me. And she is soooo lazy!!! She never wants to help out in the house with cleaning or cooking. And we were raised to always be responsible and respectful. There are five kids including me and my mom needs a lot of help with all the work in the house. Her room is always a complete mess and she complains if she's asked to help out with the little kids. I have tried talking to her so many times and asked her what's wrong and why does she act the way she does, but instead she always makes mean faces and says something rude and walks away. I really do want to help her cause I kind of feel like she's ruining her life little by little. She's also spoiled a lot, my grandparents take her everywhere. And I feel like she acts up because she wants more attention. She just doesn't understand that yelling and talking back is going to help her.....I really don't know what to do!! |
Question: Gift from deceased family member? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 07:04 AM PST My father in law, told me my mother in law wanted me to have her necklace , she recently passed, she wore for 25 years, and told me the story of when he gave it to her and why she never took it off. Posted: 18 Feb 2018 03:55 AM PST Now, I'm the only one left being the last born of the family. I'm getting tired and discouraged already. Please what can I do? I'm not even happy, I hate myself |
Question: What to do about my sister? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 01:26 AM PST I've always fought with her throughout my life. She has that sassy b-word kind of attitude with me sometimes that I just can't stand and becomes really smart with me in some situations to the point where I lose it. I always tell my mom to get her point of view and she always says to make it up with my sister in which I have tried but made it seem like it was in my head. This has happened many times like this so it is obviously something. I'm a guy and this just hurts me about how distant I am to my sister to the point where she is like a distant relative. What should I do to get along? |
Posted: 17 Feb 2018 08:53 PM PST I work with a 12 Y/O girl who says she tries to do her work, but her environment is not good. She cries every day suddenly. This is sudden behaviour. Also, the girl seeks love and attention from mainly older girls. She wants a "sister", someone to love and look up to. The school counselor sees her once per week. They discuss about her everyday crying as well as coming-of-age issues. She wants to change her style of clothing, for example. When asked why she never asked her parents to shopping, this girl says that they never pay attention or care. What she describes about home seems like she feels ignored. Could these be signs of problems at home? |

Question: How do I get good grades in high school? Posted: 17 Feb 2018 08:29 PM PST I sometimes don't have much time to study at home, and my environment isn't the most ideal. I don't really have parents to help me with school stuff. But my school gave me a free study block, plus I can stay after school to receive extra help. |
Posted: 17 Feb 2018 08:13 PM PST Hi so back about 5 years ago my brother had just turned 16 and i was still literally like 10 but that's beside the point anyways he was fed a practically brand new sports car on a silver platter with no work involved by my grandpa and now that I'm turning 16 this year my parents are making Me use my Own money on a own crappy used car ? Really put yourself in my shoes , is that fair ? I've thought about this for about 3 years now and everytime I bring it up to my parents they just dismiss it and saw "it's a long time from now !1!!1' and it's , literally 7 months away. Also before you think that since my brother got this brand new car for free that he'd take care of it , he didn't. It looks like a piece of black tinfoil that you threw away 3 weeks ago and is completely trashed inside and out. Anyways do you think this is fair ? I really don't it actually makes me kind of frustrated haha. |
Posted: 17 Feb 2018 07:46 PM PST I've honestly felt this way for my entire life. I've spent more time with my family when I was single and living alone. I didn't *want* to, but I did go out much more as it was all there was to do, even with hobbies of my own. Now that I'm married and my husband is very much like me in that he likes to stay home, it's just about all we do. I feel sad that so much time goes by but I've only seen my family for like 20 minutes one day of the week. They live 5 minutes away. I just like staying in. There's nothing really to do when I see them, either. |
Question: Are younger siblings more likely to try growing up too fast? Posted: 17 Feb 2018 07:38 PM PST I notice that the kids who were allowed to wear crop tops in 5th grade, unsupervised iPhones, full makeup and snuck out were more likely to be the youngest. It might not be true though. That particular group were the ones who tried age-inappropriate things. I'm sure there were firstborns and only children involved too. But generally, a lot of them had older siblings. The most "popular" girl back then had three older brothers... just like most of her friends. Oddly enough, these children often say/think that their parents don't care or know about them doing these things. |

Question: Who do your parents most like to compare you to when they complain about u? Posted: 17 Feb 2018 05:14 PM PST For me my parents like to compare me to my father. (Because he owned his own business at 25. Nevermind that my mother has never been employed in her life). Secondly, they like to compare me to my sister. Who do ur parents like to compare u to when they're disappointed? Or do u have nice parents who don't do this? |
Question: How can a 15 year old girl find her birth parents? Posted: 17 Feb 2018 04:36 PM PST Growing up, my parents just told me that my birth mom was only 11. Her parents didn't pay attention to her.. before they knew it, she got pregnant. I want to know who they are. It seems like a whole other world where a little girl had all that freedom but led to some tragedy. My birth mom should be 26 now. Anyways, I'm getting too curious about her. I don't know her first or last name. Apparently she was in the same city I'm in rn. I don't know if she's still in Canada or even alive. Is there a way to find out? |
Question: Answer if you're a parent.? Posted: 17 Feb 2018 04:34 PM PST I have a problem raising my voice at my parents whenever I lose my temper. I always feel really guilty about it afterwards but I never apologize anyway. this time I made my mom cry and I think I crossed my limit. I already know that the son is the "always wrong" when it comes to son-parents conflict but, as a parent what you think the best I can do when my temper goes ugly? |

Question: I want to start taking my daughters phone at night? Posted: 17 Feb 2018 04:03 PM PST However she is now 15 and has had a phone since age 11 how do we enforce our new rule? |
Posted: 17 Feb 2018 03:45 PM PST I am 15, I'm a girl and I play on my brothers p24 once in a while. Whenever I play online with other people and I talk through the microphone the guys on the other end make such a big deal when they find out im a girl. It makes me really uncomfortable. Most of them say inappropriate things which is so dumb I don't understand why they go out of their way like that. I don't normally talk on the microphone because Its always such a big deal when people hear my voice and find out im a girl. But I found a solution to this problem. I lie and say I'm a 8 year old boy and they seem to believe me and leave me alone. I can play the game like a normal person and talk to them about the game. Is it weird that I lie like that? I have actaully made friends with another boy who's 9 and he actually thinks i am a 8 year old boy. I'm not like a weirdo with him or anything I just play the game and talk and stuff. Is this weird? I just hate how I am restricted because I'm a chick. I just wantbto play the game and talk if I want to. |
Question: Everything is really messed up right now please HELP ME!? Posted: 17 Feb 2018 03:11 PM PST I am 18 years old, I turn 19 in October. I need to get out of this place and town. Let me tell you whats really affecting me Negativity, a negative impact on me. From both my mom and dad and brothers. I am truly pushing myself over the edge. It's really hard to handle I am told to get a job by my mom. My mom has been abusive to me and my brothers since we were little I am struggling in school, I am afraid my grades are not good enough to get a job. My dad and brother whose a spitting image of my dad has put hands on me physically abusing me, I have a hard time breathing because my dad almost suffocated me to death from being on top of me. I have so much more to say but it's rather better I don't. I keep switching back and forth from my parent's apartment and house. It's sickening to even call them parents. My dad would be out at bars, while he was supposed to be watching us children but I guess he wasn't grown up enough to settle down. My mom and dad both used to abuse their medication. My mother has been physically abusive too. I have gained a mental illness from abuse it affected me so much and one of my twin brothers. I am struggling to find a job for me to get out of this nut house family. I am trying so hard I need to get a apartment and an vehicle and I have to get insurance for my vehicle. I have been mentally/emotionally and domestically abused also. I don't know if anyone can suggest a person I can talk to online who could help me with this, or a phone number? part 2: I am struggling to find a job for me to get out of this nut house family. I am trying so hard I need to get a apartment and an vehicle and I have to get insurance for my vehicle. I have been mentally/emotionally and domestically abused also. But I am on the right road I have a positive impact on myself as of right now. |
Question: Why does my daughter think she needs a MacBook? Posted: 16 Feb 2018 03:53 PM PST My daughter got accepted to the photography program for college and she insists that she needs a MacBook for classes. I think that's a stupid requirement and someone is lying to her. I told her that her $300 Windows laptop will be just fine for reading slides, which is all a college student needs to do. She keeps telling me that the college is saying it's required, but then I tell her no college will require such an expensive laptop. I'm not buying her one and she is not allowed to buy one for herself. What should I do? Is the college partnered with Apple and lying to students? |
