He claims he does not have money for lunch yet my friends and I have seen him buying snacks after school. He also made a comment that he takes voice lessons and where I live they cost anywhere between $30-$60 per lesson. He wears nice clothes and he has a NEW iPad and a NEW 3DS. He also made a comment how he went to New York and saw a Broadway play during winter break. I have helped him many times in the past, so when he didn't have lunch I told him "my mom forgot to put money in my account" which was not true, because I couldn't afford to keep him buying lunch. He got mad at me and acted like he was entitled to me buying him lunch. Then, we are both in the school musical and we do buddy bags (like Secret Santa). He got mine and gave me his sister's half eaten leftover Easter Basket. He gave me nothing I asked for and said he couldn't afford it. You were supposed to spend $15-$20 per bag. What makes me even more skeptical is that his mom works at Safeway which means she probably gets a discount on food and he does not qualify for free and reduced meals and he wont tell us why. What are your thoughts? and he requested me for the buddy bag, because he thought I would not tell anyone, which is not true. My friends need to know to stop helping him. |

The only person I have left is my boyfriend and he has a stable job that pays him very well but his job company is only here where we live and I know we can do it all by our selfs. The only problem is that my family will be miles away specially my mother who I'm very Close to and don't wAnt to leave her! I'm confused because I'm stable where I am but being far from my family and not having anyone just me alone doesn't feel right to me. In the other hands I don't want to leave my boyfriend either. However my husband works very hard and long hours. He feels that when he is off I'm working and he needs rest and not having to get up with our toddler. (2 year old boy) he says he will support me financially and that I will be better off claiming unemployment money and getting money from him too. What he is failing to understand is I need to work as I need to be on the register. I will not receive much unemployment money with him working full time.. I am not happy in my job but I will stick it until I hopefully get a good job from my course. Should I give up my job or go against him. I don't know is he thinking about himself, thinking about me as I don't like my job or just being controlling over me. |

Well, she got pregnant... Fast forward 3 years later, and my dad and I have been babysitting her son for 2 years. She got a job as a flight attendant and is away from home most of the time. Lately my nephew has been having separation anxiety from the long periods apart. We've told her to get a new job that doesn't involve being gone for weeks to a month, but she says she "likes flying." She's being selfish right now and nagging her doesn't work. My dad had to take care of his mom for 7 years and I'm about to start college soon; he's tired of babysitting, I'll be busy soon, and my nephew will start preschool in 2 years. Is there a way to talk to her to get her to search for employment in areas other than on airplanes or should we give her an ultimatum? Should I take the initiative and search for jobs for her or should I just step back and let her deal with her problems and just bear with it? |

Posted: 02 May 2015 12:46 PM PDT Ever since I can remember my mom has never fully been on my side even when someone treats me like **** for no reason at all. When I was a kid this older kid was making fun of me for absolutely no reason, I was sitting there minding my own business. When I got home I told her and she said, "Poor kid, he must have been having a bad day" rather than stand up for me she defended the kid who had teased me. Now, as an adult history is repeating itself. My boyfriend of three years vanished without a word. We had a normal conversation and then he just vanished. My mom's response was that he had done an awful thing, but that he wasn't a horrible person. Then she said if he'd been horrible to me the whole relationship then he'd be a horrible person. I know I shouldn't care anymore, as I'm in my twenties, but what is it going to take to get my mom to be on MY side, fully on my side, for once?! Even when a boyfriend of three years vanishes she's not fully in my corner. If someone abandoning her daughter, without a word, isn't enough to make them a horrible person in her eyes I don't know what would be. Why is she like this and how can I let go of wanting more from her when she obviously can't or won't give it? |

My goal in life is to train dogs and breed for the Military, Police, IPO trials, protection and so on, and leaving my hometown means I can accomplish that, because I've worked with a police dog trainer and breeder and I know him personally(as he is the breeder of my dog.) If I leave, I can work with him and build my strength for my hobby. I'll have a job. If I leave, my parents will buy over 70 acres of land, my dad will build my dogs an agility set, a new house, I'll have everything there... but I'm scared. It's all up to me. I am so used of my hometown. I lived here for 12 years, and known many of my friends for 6-11 years. I am so familiar with this house, everything, but I'm scared. I don't know what to expect if I move. If I move, I can start training and breeding dogs, I will get better grades for a better career(they mark hard here), I will get everything new. It means I can have a good shot in life, but it also means leaving the familiar and probably failing in life. How can I overcome this fear? It's just so hard:/ I don't know what to do. Please help me :( decision** error in title And this is all up to me. My parents said if I am comfortable with moving, we will, but if not, we'll stay. And honestly, there is no pros about living here in my hometown. As I said; only friends, and I'm familiar. Everything here is expensive, I have shitty neighbors, a small yard(it's small to me but not 'small'), schooling is tougher, no working dog trainers to help me, nothing. |

All I ever do is go to school all week, then babysit every weekend. The only time I get freedom is when I'm with my mom but that's only 4 days a month. I don't really get money from my dad because he's going through a divorce with my step mom and he has a very low paying job but he's applying for other ones but they have not called him back about it. Sometimes I cry about this because I see kids at my school all the time ( I live in Cali) with all the newest Jordan's and clothes and hair styles, but the only thing I can do is wear my hair the same way everyday because we can't afford any fancy utensils so style it, switch back and forth between the very few outfits I have, and wear the same two pairs of shoes over and over again. Also, I don't even have food to eat! I have to wait about two more days until my parent gets food stamps... |

I've read on Quora some really great things about what to do but I'd like to hear on about my situation. I'm 15 and my future is to become an entreprenuer BUT my mom thinks I'm lazy. Hear me out, I'm not the type to do heavy physical work (Work/contruction/landscape) and I think because I just dont seem like Im fit for it but I hate how my mom says its because I'm lazy. I do not like it nor learn anything from doing work like that and yes I have done landscaping on a couple yards and cut down wood. I'm not the type of person to do activities in school or outside because I simply have no interest in doing them. If I did I would be happy to it. My mother likes my idea of my future but doesn't understand. She sees the bad side of things. She thinks I have to learn to do physical work to do things for myself and says the reason I don't want to do anything is because "I'm lazy." I want to be an entreprenuer doing things like advertising, marketing and investing because I like it. She doesn't understand because everytime I tell her I'm going to be an entreprenuer. she thinks I find excuses not to do physical work. I infact will be getting a workers permit this summer to work at a retail store. Her family & my dads family has worked through construction, sweatshops, roofing, and landscaping or working on fields. My dad knows I'm not the type to do physical work for hours. He believes in me but not my mom. |

She usually does the same things. She will mention something embarrassing from my childhood, and when I get upset, she says that it's "just a joke" and that I am too sensitive. Then I will deny it and ask why she has to say things like that, and she then plays the old "well someday, ill be gone and you wont have to hear a word of it" card, which makes me feel horribly guilty. I've talked to her about making fun of me, and she doesn't listen in the slightest, and continues. I feel horribly depressed right now, and I don't know what to do. Can anybody who has been here give me some advice? Also, my Dad doesn't think to defend me at all. He just agrees with the "you're too sensitive." But it is not the same with my sister she takes my sister out and buys her everything she wants also with my brothers. And I have to stay home and clean the house and they barley ever bring me anything back. And she lets my sibling do anything when they are not hungry they don't have to eat BUT if I leave the table with out finishing everything on my plate I get yelled at. I'm a middle child and all my siblings have "something" that connects them more to our dad. Like, our elder brother is my late mom's son from previous relationship, and he and my dad share a lot of things about her (he was 9 when she passed away; I was 3 and don't remember her). My twin sister is the only girl, and my younger brother is hearing impaired. I'm 15, btw. So I had a guy friend over. He's the only person who knows I feel less loved than my siblings (although he said it isn't true). We got to talking today and he told me he was curious, and asked if I'd let him kiss me. I told him I've never kissed a guy before, but okay. My door was not closed but we agreed to get it over with and kiss each other. The kiss was kinda long and my dad walked in on us (he was walking past my room). I know it was stupid of me but I was just so into him and a part of me wanted my dad to find out. My dad took my friend by the shirt and pushed him out our house. He shouted ''What on earth was that!'' My dad is usually very calm and I'm still shocked right now. I shouted back at him ''It's who I am!'' (I said that on an impulse). He actually slapped me. I cried and told him it was only for his attention, but he was very angry and I didn't remember all that he said. He's away now for an important appointment and I feel like a mess. Posted: 02 May 2015 11:48 AM PDT my whole childhood my mom's been calling me stupid, pathetic, worthless, etc. shes always had something against me - i wasn't a bad kid or anything, i always did well in school and stuff like that. there was a lot of her shouting and me crying to a long period of my life. there was a part of me that sort of wanted to die for a really long time because i just couldn't deal with her. she would constantly pick on me and it honestly felt like she was bullying me to be honest, i just felt so awful all the time. sometimes she would hit me, but that wasn't every day. when i turned 18 i immediately went to uni the year i was eligable and im going to graduate this year. my mom is constantly trying to contact me, but i really enjoy just not talking to her or thinking about her. she made me feel so crap, and it was just so nice to have her out of my life for 3 years. but now that im going to graduate she wants to get back in touch, and im not sure if i want to do the same. she texted me saying shes sorry about how my childhood went but she wants to make amends. im seriously considering just changing my number and deleting my facebook to get away from her but all of my friends are telling me to give her a chance. i dont know what to do :/ |

Due to privacy reasons I am going to call this girl Jenna you can refer to her as Jenna as well in the comments. So basically, here are some examples..... -Whenever we argue about some medical thing she ALWAYS remarks "My mom is a nurse!" My mom is too and just cuz your mom has been one longer is just because your mom is in her 40's and mine is in her 30's!! -I have asthma and eczema and she always says, "At least I have NORMAL skin!!" And "At least I have NORMAL lungs" it makes me feel so sad and self conscious -My friend weighs 103 pounds although she says 93.... And I weigh 121 pounds (yes I know I am working on losing weight) although she only called me fat once and was joking it still hurt -She always says how "me and my sister NEVER fight(actually they fight ALL THE TIME) and I LOVE having a sister while she knows I would kill for a sister -She says her hair is special and extremely rare and that's why she doesn't dye her hair after IIII dyed my hair. -She always says, "I do have to admit my mom makes a lot of money, she makes like $270 an hour -She always makes fun of my family but when I joke about hers she just gets incredibly defensive -She says thing like, "you didn't even know that?!" He spends every dime he gets on crack and whenever I ask if i can get shampoo or soap or something like that from the store he explodes and starts screaming at me and saying how he doesn't have any money, and every time he screams at me I ask him why do you have to yell at me and he says because I was angry with him first... but I'm never angry or talk with an attitude specifically to avoid a fight with him so I don't understand this at all. I started itching it and his mom yelled at me she said "If you don't stop touching your face, I am pulling over and making you get out of the car. People are staring." No one was and so what if they were? We were just driving. I told her "That's not right I am not doing anything wrong my face only itches." Its just that i feel like they dont really give me much freedom, compared to an average teen girl. They dont allow boys, (i understand why) but even if its just a guy friend. i know not to have sex this young, but they probably still wont allow it. They sometimes dont even let my friends come over. I know girls my age at my school have a little beach party since we all live near the beach. Okay so for...a long time now (I think well over a year) my brother (he's older, almost 16 (I'm 13)) has been putting boogers under a part of the downstairs (the BR that everyone in the family uses) bathroom counter (it's this little part of the counter that goes over the cabinets a little). It's DISGUSTING. I know it's him because he's my only sibling, and my parents wouldn't do it. my mom has been yelling at us. She doesn't trust either of us, so she doesn't know who it is. So today she found new boogers & yelled at us saying if she finds any more boogers she's taking BOTH our stuff (phones, valuables (which is VERY bad because my laptop doesn't work so my phone is the only way I can do online homework) away. Problem is my brother is an EXTREMELY good liar, & he doesn't admit what he does to ME, even though he knows that *I* know he's doing it (incase I'm recording him I guess). And *I* SUCK at telling the truth-when I do, because my voice sounds like a 5 year old (I'm a girl but still) it CONSTANTLY sounds like I'm lying when I'm NOT. So there is NO way I can get evidence that it's my brother. I sometimes see my brother picking his nose in the dining room but when he sees me coming he turns around & goes elsewhere. There's no way to record him (too obvious). I talked to my mom (I'm sure my brother does top) about it but nothing convinces her! HELP?! Thx! :) |

I'm not the type of female to go out I don't party and stuff like that so when my boyfriend/father of my child got off from work he got mad because I was out and left our daughter with my parents. He been out plenty of times before I was pregnant during and after but as soon as I finally go out to enjoy myself I get cursed at told that i need to go home and be with my daughter and called a bad parent and he said when she gets older he's gonna tell her that he's always been there and that I left her at 8 weeks old just to have fun. He taught me to go to 7-11 secretly(which my mom said not to), and to insult my mother because she was ungrateful and always curses my dad. My dad used to verbally abuse my mom first and then said that my mom started it. My dad is a sociopath, I think. Im 16 now, and I understand that he is stupid and mentally ill (maybe). A few days ago, he said to me that I was a bad child when I was younger. I told him "You taught me to do bad things and said it was right". Why is it that my dad insulted me for the mistakes and bad behavior he taught me and blames it on me? I feel depressed. I cant shake off his words. I threw a temper tantrum the next day, screaming about how I hate myself and my mistakes. I think his years of lying and manipulating me left a mental and emotional scar. |

I though it was my cats, but they can't open doors! I eventually ignored it, when I went to go get more nail stuff and found no one. But then I heard my bathroom door close, and the tolited seat get put down. I got scared and locked my door. I heard something going through my drawers, and my microwave being closed.. I'm scared and keep hearing footsteps. I'm 12, my brother is at his friends house and my dad and his girlfriend are out and won't be back for at least another three hours. I don't know why they do it, but when they do, they open it for themselves to pig out. They only feed us dinner. When they do, we sit at the dining room table, and they still lock it back so we can't do anything. Even when theres plenty of food. It's really annoying. Sometimes they refuse to pay my lunch account so I can only get 1 meal a day. I'm a healthy size. 6'3, 220 pounds. I think they're personally doing it because they like to see us hungry, and for us to beg them for food. I used to have a psychiatrist to help me, and I told this to him, and he actually supported them. Bottom line is that I'm getting really pissed, and I want to call the police to tell them that they aren't feeding us. I threatened my parents I would, and their response was patting me on the stomach saying, "Go right ahead. They won't believe a word out of your fat ***." Someone please help? |

I messaged my mum telling her I wasn't feeling well at 3 in the morning because she was asleep and I didn't want to disturb her sleep. So when she read the message, she woke me up at 5 to give me her homopathy medicine. It didn't work after 1 day and my temperature stayed at 39 degrees. I was suffering the whole day because nothing worked. She doesn't like me taking Panadol or others because she says it may cause cancer if we take it too much. I told her to bring me to the doctor but she said it wasn't worht it because their medicines has side effects and homeopathy takes a long time to help in healing but it's worth it. But it really didn't work. So she gave me Panadol and I got better in less than an hour. I'm also having ear infection but she said we shouldn't go to the doctor. Her ear drops will work.. but none of her homopathy medicine works. I have been suffering for 3 days going to 4 days now and she always says we'll go to the doctor tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow... but never do. When my younger brothers get sick even if it's just a slight fever, she brings them straight to the doctor... it's so unfair... I have doubts if she even loves me as much as she loves my brothers. |

It was the first time my mom let me out late like this. We left at 11:30 pm and my curfew was 3 am. Knowing it was a big deal for my mom to let me out late, I basically acted like a paranoid freak all night making sure I would not be late home. Everything went well, we were done by 2 AM and it gave us just enough time to go eat and have him take me home. It was all figured out. Until the service at the restaurant took too slow. We got there at 2:10, and did not leave the restaurant until 3:10-an hour exactly- because the service was going so slow. I messaged my mom a thousand times, apologizing. She extended it to 3:30 but I knew she wasn't happy. This morning, she had to leave, and I could tell she wasn't very happy with me. Could I have possibly ruined her trust? Do you have some sort of idea of the punishment I could get? If you are a parent, how would you react to this? I'm sorry it was long, but thank you so much for your feedback:) |

I am 13 so I do not have a job or much of anything. I am starting to learn how to cook. I have so much homework it is insane. My grandmother don't understand. The thing is is that she threatens me but never actually do it. She threatened she called the cops on me one time. If I didn't have my best friends at school I probably would be at my dad's right now. When I am gone for a week+ she worries like crazy. She is too attached to me for some reason. I think she is jealous of my mom because I sorta get along with my mom better. My mom is not in a stable place. Also what is the definition of bipolar? Could she be bipolar? I love marching band but my grandmother don't think I do. It has to go her way or no way most of the time. I will admit I have a little of a smart mouth but I can control it most of the time just like my temper. Any advice? She also calls me a liar. That just puts me over the edge. I'm tired of the yelling, of the getting blamed for everything and always having to listen to her yell. We've went to therapy before and it just don't work. My friend said he could get me a place to stay but if I went to the cops and explained why I don't wanna live here, would they make me go back home or could I get some sort of assistance to help me out. So they went to the doctor and she told them they could use a donor. So they set out to find one but when I saw how hard it was on my sister-in-law to have a complete strangers baby I offered to be there donor. Im married and have 2 boy's. I talked to my wife about it she didn't care. We had a talk between the 4 of us they agreed and the steps were put in motion.1 month later she was pregnant. During the month of the procedures she and I spent a lot of time together. We had talks about my role as the donor and that unless for medical reasons or the death of my brother that I would only be uncle and I was fine with that but as time went on she and I spent a lot of time together and my feelings for her started to grow. It got worse when she started showing. My brother works alot and is away a lot so I went to some doctors appointments with her, and was with her when she found out she was having a girl. She was placed on bed rest and when my brother is gone I will take care of her. There are times when she has a lot of sciatic pain and I help her by rubbing her back. I always want to rub her stomach but ask first. My brother is planning on being with her for the birth but I'm the back up support person. Now i find myself in love with her and instead of thinking it's his baby I can't think anything but it's my child that she's carrying my little girl. |
