Question: Would it be ok to give one antique and one modern engagment ring? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 11:14 PM PDT I have a couple antigue family engagement rings that are being handed down to me. Seeing the worth of them would it be ok to give her 2 rings, one of the antiques and I was thinking maybe a nice moissanite ring so she can wear it everyday and keep the other one for wedding and stuff. So she isn t walking around with so much. She is a teacher and has a very active life style. |
Question: Why do people feel the need to tell us how to plan our wedding, and spend our money? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 10:24 PM PDT I will never understand why people feel that they should have a say in how a wedding is planned and paid for. Our families are driving us crazy about our wedding. We're ready to throw in the towel and elope. |
Question: But we're not engaged..? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 10:24 PM PDT So, recently my boyfriend received an oriental trading company wedding catalog in the mail and today he got a $20 target gift card to go toward a wedding registry. We have no idea why! Anyone have any idea why this would happen? We aren't engaged and he hasn't signed up for anything. |
Question: Why do nearly all wedding dresses look the same? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 08:54 PM PDT Women go bonkers looking for the perfect dress and and 90% of the time it looks the same as every other girls dress -- strapless and poofy. Why don't women choose something more original? |
Posted: 23 Mar 2015 08:51 PM PDT Granted this sounds a little crazy, the reason behind this is because I have chronically ill parents and have only recently started thinking about this sort of thing. The idea of the perfect wedding dress was never an aspect of a wedding that I thought was important to me but facing the possibility that I my parents may not still be with me by the time I get engaged got me thinking that if I was wearing a dress that I had picked out/bought with their blessing it would be like I had a little piece of them with me. Is this as crazy as I think it sounds or does it make some sort of sentimental sense that my parents would get to see their daughter dressed like a bride even if they miss the big day? I don't know if it will even be important in the future but I can't help asking myself if it's better to be safe than sorry and to have that experience with them that I might regret later if I never do? |
Question: Bridal Shower Games?? Bachelorette Party Games? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 08:44 PM PDT Bridal Shower Games?? Bachelorette Party Games? (the bachelorette party is going to be inside..watching wedding movies..drinking! good food.. n now need good games..?? |
Question: Would it be weird if I don't have my dad walk me down the aisle for my wedding? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 08:40 PM PDT So, I know it's highly traditional that a father gives away his daughter at a wedding but as I have grown up and matured and saw things for how they really are, I do not wish for my father to be in any part of my wedding. personal reasons such as being a total hard *** on me from birth, being a complete *** hole to my mother in front of us, aka screaming **** you, get the hell away from me at my mother when he would get drunk and got into a scuffle with my oldest brother. I have no respect for this man that I have to call father, however, my boyfriend thinks it would be a bad move if he doesn't and I choose someone else to do so. There would be too much "drama" at the wedding But it's my day, my only day. |
Posted: 23 Mar 2015 08:32 PM PDT So in a few months i will be attending a wedding but I'm not sure what to get the bride and groom. Its still a few months away but i kinda want to get ideas. I didn't see any point of getting them things for their home since they are living at her moms house due to financial problems. They also have a baby so i wanted to get them something and their baby as well. Any ideas? Ive never been to a wedding so I'm not sure what you get them. |
Question: Theme ideas for a bachlorette party bus? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 07:53 PM PDT My maid of honor asked me if I have any ideas. I was thinking about having the girls and I have matching tanks tops, mine white and theirs black. With Bride, MOH, and Bridesmaid on them in pink/white or pink/black on mine. Then tell everyone on the bus to where like pink/black. But I am wondering if there are better ideas out there?? |
Question: Is it ok to invite just niece & nephew no other kids? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 06:35 PM PDT My sister in law is having issues she doesn't want kids at her wedding. But our 3 yr old will be in the wedding along with my husband duh we will bring our 1 yr old. (Will be almost 1 & 3) She has so many cousins with kids under 10. Is it ok to not invite kids but her niece & nephew? (Groom doesn't have any yet) She is so scared to upset people. I tried to tell her not to be upset. It's her day. Honestly if she didn't want my son there I wouldn't go. We plan on getting a hotel room close so we can still get kids naps etc. not to mention the cousins kids are BAD! |
Question: Dress appropriate for fall wedding? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 06:24 PM PDT Honestly I'm being a bit vain... I just had our second baby. I'm breastfeeding so my boobs look awesome. & I'm thinner & more fit then I was before we got married 4 yrs ago. I worked my butt off to get this body. & it's only looking better. Everyone in my husbands family is heavy. They all made fun of me after my first child & said I was finally heavy like them. Making fat jokes a lot to me. My husband & daughter are in the wedding. I don't want to "up stand the bride" but I do want to show off my hard work. To everyone that put me down. What do you think? Ok to wear? Nice pair of black sandel type heels. |

Question: Honeymoon Help! Where Should We Go? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 04:49 PM PDT My Fiancé and I are getting married in late December and are looking for a honeymoon that s reasonably priced. We are aiming to have it between 12/21-1/1. We are young and love adventure! We are trying to avoid a cruise because I personally have never been on one and would rather that be something we do later on in our lives. We also agreed that since we ve both never seen snow (florida born and raised and we could leave from either the Miami airport or the Ft. Myers one) we want to take the opportunity to go on a budget friendly honeymoon and see what the winter is like. Some of our friends have mentioned Las Vegas, Whistler in Canada, and road tripping California. Any guidance or knew ideas are completely welcomed! Please post what s so great about the place and what fun, active/adventurous activities there are! Thanks! |

Question: Is it okay to back out of a bachelorette party? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 01:34 PM PDT I am a bridesmaid in a friend from high school s wedding. She s having the party about six hours away from where I live. I ll have to drive six hours there on the day of the party, attend the festivities, spend the night at a pricey hotel then wake up early the next morning to drive back home in time for my shift at work that night. I RSVP ed yes initially, but I ve been traveling a lot the past few weeks, and I m starting to feel run down and depressed and sick from all the commotion. Would it be totally wrong to back out at this point? |
Question: Does the bride buy the shirts for the bridesmaids? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 01:18 PM PDT Just out of curiosity. I wanted to buy my bridesmaids all fun shirts. Do I buy the shirts? I'm just getting confused with the things I can/cannot do should/should not do. I am the bride. |
Question: Should I take the offer? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 01:11 PM PDT 3 Years ago my best friend got married. 3 Years ago she asked me to help her family plan her bridal shower. I said ok... however I ended up taking the lead. NONE of her family helped me & NOT 1 of them donated a penny towards anything. I reached out to OUR 4 best friends & asked for their help (naturally they were willing). we spent around $2500 on the shower. She was so pleased & happy with her shower that she told me she was buying me a Tiffany's bracelet! I asked what about the others who put time & money into it? She says (with an attitude) "how much did ea pay?? I'm not treating all of them!" I told her (me the majority, 1 friend paid $900+ & the other $400).. but stated that everyone contributed & worked very hard ( I had them attending monthly meetings, driving all over the world & working wkends/hours 2 hand make invitations/ centerpieces & etc). she says "well I'm only going to treat u & the one that spent $900.. I'm not paying for anyone else!" ...I felt terrible & decided since I asked them to help, I would take them all out to dinner. I tried but they refused. They felt that we all are "best friends" & she knew without question they would help. They was pissed. here it is 3yrs later (she never did anything for any of us, claiming to be broke but constantly went to concerts & bought $500 wigs -6 to be exact); she's asking to take myself & the other ONE to dinner to say thanks. what should we do? I think its too late and still wrong of her not to treat everyone.... |
Posted: 23 Mar 2015 01:07 PM PDT My daughter wants to hold her wedding either in New Zealand or somewhere close so that relatives she didn't grow up with can attend. She was born and raised in eastern Canada though she now lives in Alberta Her fiancé and his family live there. I live in the US, in Idaho with my new husband. All her siblings live in Canada. All her friends live near her. She was thinking of a wedding in Hawaii but now wants to move it to New Zealand. The New Zealand relatives are mostly willing to go where-ever the venue is. I, however, cannot afford the roundtrip ticket or accommodations in New Zealand. I own and run a beautiful mountain B&B in which I host weddings and I've offered this venue for all but she doesn't want it. She thinks it's too inconvenient for the relatives in NZ. Is there a protocol on this sort of thing? |
Question: What do I need to say, when asking for pricing estimates? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 12:12 PM PDT I m trying to plan for my wedding and I ve read online, that you need to avoid using the word "wedding" when getting quotes, because people like to jack up the price. So when they ask what kind of event, what should I say? |
Question: People getting married at 18? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 11:16 AM PDT I log into Facebook and there's always someone that ends up pregnant ,getting engaged ,or both. It's like right after graduation they just want to speed up their lives. How about going to college ? Or other things before settling down? But I guess they want to move on fast in life. I just think it's too early for them to marry each other or have kids. Do you guys think the same way? No rude comments. |
Question: Why do people have weddings? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 11:09 AM PDT Why can't people just love eachother, come together and stay together so long as they love eachother. And part ways if they stop loving eachother. Why do people spend the cost of a car on a wedding when the end result is the same? |
Question: When deciding your marriage spouse, did you consider your parents? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 10:44 AM PDT My parent doesn't have any strong preference and is leaving it up to me to choose a spouse. I am worried about my parent if I choose a spouse who doesn't speak my parent's native language and wants the future kids to learn only her native language. I don't want my parent to be alone and isolated especially since we have no other family or relatives living here. I just want my parent to be able to communicate with my future spouse and the grandkids. The other stuff doesn't matter. I would be following the 5th commandment to honor your father and mother. Of course, I would learn my spouse's native language so I can communicate with her family too. I want my kids to be bilingual so they can talk to both grandparents. What if my spouse wants the kids to learn only her language and my parent can't communicate with them? That worries me. What should I do? Appreciate it but I forgot to mention that I'm looking for answers from a non-western, individualistic point of view. |
Question: Can the mother of the bride chose any color she wishes for her gown? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 09:26 AM PDT |
Question: What do I do about her parents? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 09:03 AM PDT I'm in my early 30's, and engaged. Her parents worry me. They are in their 60's, and don't have retirement savings. Her dad complains it all the time. I make a pretty good living, and have savings. I'm worried they will come to us for the money, and we will have to fund their retirement/later years. That would put a strain on our finances, and my ability to provide for my wife. Any advice? |
Question: Wedding registry at Dick's Sporting Goods? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 08:56 AM PDT We've already registered our honeymoon and Walmart, but we really don't need a lot of "traditional" registry things like towels, dishes, etc. So is there any way we can register at Dick's? We both love hunting and it would be a great way to get some extras - nothing expensive - but we're just not sure if Dick's offers that. Or any other sporting good/hunting store. Thanks in advance! |

Question: Suggestions for a nice wedding place in in PA Philadelphia area.? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 07:14 AM PDT I'm looking for a nice place that don't cost a ton of money. I'm okay with planning everything myself and supplying everything if have a really nice place. I want to give my girlfriend the wedding she deserves but I can't afford too much because of my failing health. Any good suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! |
Question: Do you think it's rude I don't want my sister in law to be a brides maid? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 05:30 AM PDT I can not stand my sister in law. She's loud, obnoxious, drama queen, highly insecure and a immature. I'm cordial to her but that's about it. I don't engage any small talk with Her. I give her basic human respect. Anyway Im getting married and I'm choosing braids maids. My little sister is the maid of honor, my cousins, and two friends at work. I told my mom and she thought I should ask my sister in law to be a braids maid. I told her absolutely not and that she is lucky I'm even inviting her to my wedding. You see my sister in law has a problem with not being the center of attention. I'll be damned if I let the little princess ruin me and my future husbands day. Besides I don't deal with people I don't like especially if I don't have to. |
Question: Wedding brides maids grooms man question? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 01:32 AM PDT First. How many is too many brides maids and grooms men I have a lot of siblings 2 sisters and 2 brothers and a brother in law I consider a brother. I would want all my sisters in my party and all my brothers on my partners. Plus my best friends I have 3. And my partners sister. His only sibling But that's 6!seems alot! But don't see away around it without everyone having a cry over not being included. I thought maybe just one each my closest sister. But then what about my other sister n his sister. Ahhhh Or elope haha |
Question: Is asking for a wedding ring wrong? Posted: 23 Mar 2015 12:47 AM PDT I have been with my fiance for 4 years now and we have a child together as well. The first year we were together, he propose to me and just gave me a ring casually. I'm the type of person who cares about this type of situation to be romantic, so how it turned out bothered me. He didn't just gave me any ring, but his childish younger sisters ring. I wanted an actual ring of my own without having it to be a hand me down. I have not said a word about it to my fiance. I know it sounds selfish for asking for my own, but I want something that has meaning..please no rude comments. I'm just human..:( |
Question: Should my husband & I get married by church and have a celebration? Posted: 22 Mar 2015 11:24 PM PDT My husband and I got married nearly 2 & 1/2 years ago but we did it at the courthouse because we couldn't afford a big wedding. Now we can and I was so excited to start planning it but someone at work said it would be dumb to spend money on a wedding with someone you've been married to for over 2 years. I still want a big party, nice dress and all my family and friends to celebrate our marriage with us even if it's been a couple years. Has anyone ever got married by church a few years after marrying through court and it still feel special? |
