Question: Can I become and ordained minister in a state I don't live in? Posted: 27 Mar 2015 12:26 PM PDT My friends are getting married and asked me to officiate their wedding. I live in Indiana and they live in Kansas. Would it be possible for me to become an ordained minister in Kansas since I don't live there? |

Question: Is it okay to propose the day before a holiday? Posted: 27 Mar 2015 11:08 AM PDT Long story short I am trying to find a good time to propose to my gf. The problem is that her dad lives in Florida and we live in PA. We already have tickets to visit for the 4th of July. I wanted to ask her dad to marry her in person, but also realize that proposing on a holiday is a horrible idea. That said, I really don't want to ask over the phone, I think its more meaningful in person but I cant exactly slip off to Florida unnoticed either... Would it be okay to propose the day before the 4th? Would this still be considered a bad idea? I can't imagine our relationship going south, but I'm also realistic and god forbid it does I certainly don't need my favorite holiday ruined (nor hers). Suggestions welcome, I don't want any of my/her friends to know so I can keep the timing a surprise (we've discussed marriage, so I know its something she wants so it won't be a shock). Looking for some input, thanks! |
Question: Should I invite my stepsister to my wedding? Posted: 27 Mar 2015 10:59 AM PDT I'm getting married this summer and my mom and stepdad want me to invite my stepsister (my stepdads daughter from a previous marriage) to my wedding. I, on the other hand, do not want her anywhere near my wedding. She's always hated me. And we haven't spoken in YEARS. Added to that is the fact she told our half-sister that she will ruin the wedding (apparently she believes she will and should be invited to the wedding). It wouldn't be the first time she tried to ruin something for me. When I graduated, she got drunk and started cursing at me and telling everyone that I was a filthy w**** for sleeping with my then boyfriend now fiance. My mom and stepdad have told me on several occasions that they would be very disappointed in me if I don't invite her because she's family and we're sisters (we're not). Even my half-sister told them what she said and then my stepdad turned around and said "wouldn't you rather have a few little problems on the day and have your sister than have a problem-free wedding and not have her there". The answer is no and I told him this. Another reason I don't want that risk is because my dad is very sick, dying sick, and I want to look back on the day with nothing but happy memories. My fiance and I are paying. Probably should have added that already, sorry! I don't know where she lives or her phone number so talking to her isn't an option. My dad is my real dad. My stepdad is her father, the man married to my mom. Sorry for confusing people! |
Question: Can I invite some of my co-workers to my wedding but not all of them? Posted: 27 Mar 2015 09:25 AM PDT I have been working this job for just over a year and the company treat me like family. It s a smaller company of 25 people. I would like a select few from my department to go, but I don t want to offend others in my department, so I would invite everybody in my department (5 people) I also talk and have lunch with the president of the company on a regular basis, so I would like him to come but then I feel obligated to invite the other 3 owners of the company. Is it rude for me not to invite everyone in the company? I don t speak with most of them on a regular basis. Our guest list is fairly large already but my fiance and I would like to make room for our co-workers since we plan on working at our work locations until we retire. |
Question: Why would the stepmonster expect the same role in my wedding as my mom? Posted: 27 Mar 2015 07:59 AM PDT My dad and the stepmonster have been married for about 34 years. They don't have any kids together. I've disliked her ever since I was a child. She's been mean, rotten and nasty to me and my siblings. Now that I'm planning my wedding the stepmonster wants to come along, and do the things that the mother of the bride does. I've told her NO. Her place is with my dad at my dad's side, and to keep her mouth shut. She became really angry, and told me I had no right to exclude her from anything. Just because she's married to my dad, it doesn't give her special privileges. I would have included her if she had been kinder to me and my siblings. |
