Question: Is it tacky to have a laid back wedding & reception? Posted: 16 Mar 2015 11:23 PM PDT We're not fussy people. We want a casual laid back wedding and have a bbq reception. I mentioned my plans to a woman I work with. She said that casual weddings are tacky, and we should have a formal wedding. A formal wedding doesn't appeal to us or our wallets. Do you think it's tacky? |

Question: My wedding colors are maroon, and silver? Posted: 16 Mar 2015 09:35 PM PDT Is there anything wrong with wearing a pin striped suit, it is not made from a shiny material, it is a charcoal grey color, silver vest, maroon button up..not looking to discuss the colors, just the pin striped suit. |
Question: Bridal shower gifts? Posted: 16 Mar 2015 08:00 PM PDT Im a bride to be. My fiance and i are not in need of any household items. Id like to still have a bridal shower, but usually people give household item gifts at those type of events. Is there a polite way to tell my bridal shower guests that we would prefer gift cards or money to help us pay off our wedding? |
Question: Wedding Invitation List Problem? Posted: 16 Mar 2015 07:35 PM PDT So my fiancé and I are getting married in September. We booked a venue that nicely holds 150-200, but it can hold up to 300 (tables have to be put on the dance floor and there has to be a mixture of square and round tables). I have about 75-80 people on my list, so my fiances mom could invite about 75 people of her own. We received her list, and there's 168 people on it. She says half of them won't come, but inviting that many people makes me incredibly nervous especially since it's well known that we want a small wedding. My fiancé agrees with his mom and thinks inviting that many people is fine. She is helping pay for the food, but the rest is on us. Any opinions or advice? Can't decide if I have a right to be uncomfortable or not. Thanks in advance! |

Question: As a fill-in bridesmaid am I required to get a wedding gift for the bride and groom? Posted: 16 Mar 2015 06:23 PM PDT My boyfriend is already in the wedding and has spent $200 on shoes and tux rental and I was asked to be in the wedding 3 months before the day because a girl dropped out. After buying a dress and getting it altered, shoes, hair, etc my costs are around $250. We still have to spend $500 more on flights and hotel stay. Are we required to buy them a gift? Opinions?! |
Question: What's his deal? He won't stop calling and texting? Posted: 16 Mar 2015 04:06 PM PDT This guy and I have been seeing each other for 2 years. Its a casual relationship and everytime I'm ready to let go he comes back to me. He tells me that I make him feel good, that I'm beautiful and this and that....I'm 23 I met him when I was 21 and he was 41. He is a mystery and he tells me that he's single. He refers to the mother of his child as "his ex/baby mommy type of thing. I have this weird attraction to him. I tell him that I'm done with him and ignore his txs and calls and he'd be there for me. I'm also attractive and he's jealous. I am very honest and funny but he's very secretive and he'd stare at me silently and today when we were together he started to choke me while we're kissing and I had to stop him. Also, hes been having erectile problems, like he couldn't get hard and he was acting really weird with me. A year ago after we broke up months later he called me with a different phone number and he looked like he changed.... well not really. Hes a cop and also works nearby my job. Yet, hes very obsessive and needs constant resistance. He won't stop texting and calling |

Question: How much should you "tip" the pastor that marries you? Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:25 AM PDT I'm not quite sure if "tip" is the right term, but he's doing our premartial counseling and marrying up. Our coulseling lasts 5 (1-hour) sessions and our wedding will be about 30 minutes. We are members of the church so we are not charged anyting. What would be an approprite amount to gift him along with a card? Edit: It's a small church. I live in a small town in MIssouri, church has about 75 members. We are Baptists |

Question: Question about a weird wedding invitation situation? Posted: 16 Mar 2015 09:11 AM PDT My best friend and her husband are currently living with his parents due to a recent tragedy in which they lost their home. I obviously want to invite my best friend and her husband to my wedding, but I don't know if I should invite his parents too, since they all live together. I don't know them very well, and I've only met them a handful of times, but I don't want to seem rude. What would be the best thing to do? |
Posted: 16 Mar 2015 08:27 AM PDT Hello, A relative I do not know very well is getting married. He is part Indian, and his bride comes from a traditional Indian family. We received the invites and there are two invitations (each on their own notecards) One is for the Indian wedding ceremony, early in the morning at one location. One is for the American wedding in the evening. Both invites were in the same beautiful envelope. On the RSVP card it has two options one for "accepts" and the other "declines" followed with dinner choices. While I would LOVE to attend both - however due to prior commitments we are only able to attend one or the other, however the RSVP card does not specify one or the other. I do not want to create any confusion for the couple's venues. Do we have to attend both or neither or can we attend one part? The first part begins at 9am and the second part begins with the American Ceremony at 6:30pm and diner at 8pm on the same day - they are at different venues in different states (about an hour or so away from each other, and too far away for us to come home in between). I imagine we are not the only couple that cannot be gone from our homes from at a minimum 8am-10pm on the wedding date. Thanks for any insight! I have never been confused by a wedding invite before :-) I just don't want to come across as rude! :-) |

Question: Why is everyone angry at me? I didn't do anything wrong? My soon to be wife did? Posted: 15 Mar 2015 09:53 PM PDT I found out 3 weeks before our wedding that my soon to be wife was cheating on me. I never cheated on her. We already sent out invitations for the wedding to family members, friends and people at our jobs. When I found out she cheated, I sent letter to everyone invited to the wedding that she cheated and who she cheated with. We had exactly 134 invites and I sent a letter to each one. After that I moved out our apartment, paid the remainder of the lease agreement. I moved out without telling her that I knew she cheated. She found out when a lot of the invites started calling her. Her and her family are angry at me and she left me messages on my phone crying and devastated. I didn't do anything wrong. |

Question: My fiance's behavior is beginning to make me question my future with him. Help? Posted: 15 Mar 2015 01:36 PM PDT I used to see my fiance as a motivated, driven, hardworking person with unmatched passion for the sports industry. Although I have no interest in sports whatsoever, one of the things I loved most about him is his passion and work ethic. After he graduated college (two years ago) I moved across the country with him after he landed an opportunity in the NBA that he was ecstatic about. Literally 5 weeks after he started the job, he quit. I was shocked. A week later he took a job down south, also in the sports industry. It was a very sad, entry-level position that paid minimum wage. Naturally, I did not follow him down south, as I was hurt that he left the first time and his job down south was only a 1 year contract. So his 1 year contract ended two months ago. Three months before it was supposed to end, I started encouraging him to begin applying for jobs, as it can be a long process. He said he wanted to go to grad school for sports marketing and he applied to only one school that didn't require any tests. He did not get in. Now, two months later, he still doesn't have a job. He's at home with mom & dad, not contributing anything to their household. Last night he tells me that he wants to get into the medical industry, though he's done no research at all. He hasn't taken a science/health related course since Freshmen year and it was one gen-ed class that he was required to take and he hated it. Honestly, he doesn't think anything through and I don't know if I want to be with someone like that. I plan everything and I am smart about the decisions I make which is why I am 24 years old and already have thousands and thousands of dollars saved, a retirement fund started, excellent credit, and a high paying corporate job. He just isn't the person I thought he was. |
