My family has been sporadically attending weddings all our lives. My sister was on the dance floor DANCING every single reception except the one that we went to over the weekend. I couldn't help but notice her remaining seated after dancing started. So I asked her why she wasn't on the dance floor. It really surprised me when she revealed that she really hates it. I told her that I thought she loved it. She raised her voice, "No!" Then I asked her why she always danced. She listed the following: our cousin dragged her to the dance floor last time, our grandmother forced her to dance the reception before that, one of our aunts forced her to dance the reception before that, the mother of the bride hissed at her to get on the dance floor while she was relaxing at her dinner table the reception before that, a middle-aged guy went up to her while she was drinking & insisted she went on the dance floor the reception before that, and our uncle even picked her up & carried her to the dance floor the reception before that. I asked her why she doesn't quit. She whined that she eventually does quit but then often gets pestered back onto the dance floor. If she hates it so much, why does she always smile while dancing on the dance floor at wedding receptions? Because her smiling caused me and I presume others as well to think she was enjoying herself [altho she's really not]
