Her partner is white and she is White and Italian. My friend went from a gentle loving woman, to being racist along with making remarks towards women of color (which I am) Can anyone shed some light to how this is even possible? I understand she is hurt and depressed, but surely not all women of any color are to blame or have the same morals as the woman her guy cheated on with. She says when she sees a woman of color, especially with a white man, it reminds her of her then partner and is disgusted without knowing the couple. I'm just trying to understand her. I love my best friend and I want to help. Thanks. |

So I generally like to keep surroundings clean and organized, and my partner is less concern about it, which is cool. I believe such difference completes us as a couple and balances out. However... every time I want to remind my partner (D) about anything related to house chore and similar duties, my mind works like this: OK D grew up hearing the parents telling D what to do (sometimes repeatedly) and I do not want to tell D what to do... I am not D's parents... I did not really grow up being told what to do in an annoying way, and that would be really annoying. in fact, I want to respect D as a grown individual therefore I think I can expect D to be self-sufficient, yes. Wait, but I cannot expect too much since if my expectation is not met, I will automatically fall into disappointment, and D does not deserve that. I do not want to feel disappointed in my own life-long partner, and I would rather stand up and take responsibility for it. But wait...relationship is a mutual thing, right...? Hmm..." Will you give me a piece of advice for this, please? |
