Me and my mom are super close. I'm moving in with my boyfriend this weekend and I've been crying for an hour because it's my last night living at home with my mom. I feel lost. I'm 20 but I still feel like I'm a teenager who needs her mom especially since we are so close. I know it's natural to move out it just hit me hard tonight and need some guidance of how to feel better about this.. 

i moved in with my aunt last year. i'm going to be turning 17 pretty soon, and i've always maintained a/b honor roll in school. i've never gotten into big trouble in my life, but for some reason she's disabling the wifi and putting it in "bedtime mode" at 11pm. now if this was a school night i would understand, but the has just started this 2 days ago and it's looking like my school will be shut down for the rest of the academic year due to coronavirus. what's the point of shutting it off when i have no school and no online work?? when school was in session i was always in bed before 10:30.  but we're on a break here so i don't understand, and for some reason she will not reason with me at all! does she not understand that some teenagers get distracted and stay up to wee hours of the night like seriously it's a teenager thing.

Because they are not directly related; as are brother and sister,  than how is it incestuous? This includes namely 1st cousins, but can also include 2nd cousins and so forth. What really surprises me are people who say people who are step-sibblings, and who are start hooking up, dating, marry, as incestuous, and all I can ask myself is: "How the hell can that be, when step-sibblings are not related to each other in any way, except through the marrying of their parents?" But back to my original question. To me the idea of cousins hooking up, dating, or even marriage, to me is not incestuous, given the fact they are not directly related to each other. Plus some states actually allow people who are 1st cousins to get married, yet some don't, so the way I see it, and I'm a conservative politically speaking; not that this is a political question, but the point is, on this particular issue there ought to be one standard, no more and no less. So is Cousin "relations", in order to encompass the three scenarios mentioned, is it really incestuous, or not? And if so, or if not, than who decides that? And I guess, to get more specific, what "higher being, determines this? I have always considered the USA as a nation under God, the same God who created Adam and Eve. Yet Atheism is rampant.  In many schools religious practices are frowned upon, so for the sake of argument, if man is simply the product of random chance, than what Governs these decisions, and since all people are fallible, how do we know the Judgement that is being administered is correct? For example in Genesis, Jacob; the father of the Israelites, married his uncle Laban's daughters; Leah and Rachel, and back then cousin marriage was accepted.  Jesus Christ, who came over a thousand years later said in famous Sermon on the Mount: "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished." So if Christ Himself did not disagree with the old Testament, and the Constitution is based on the Bible; the principles of it, than why is cousin marriage illegal in some states, yet lawful in others? Please explain this to me, I am merely trying to understand this.

Hi, so my older brother had an upsetting thing happen last year and he finally started to feel better these past 4 months or so. My parents, siblings, and I were able to cheer him up. (I am his younger sister).  Unfortunately, I recently noticed his face had bruises and he looked really tired/upset, so I asked him about it, and he at first wouldn't tell me, (but we tell each other most things...)  He said these guys were beating him up (he said because of something stupid that happened at school a couple of weeks ago) . I hate seeing him upset, he used to be so happy, funny, outgoing. He's totally a likable kid, and I'm surprised he is being treated like this.  But then he told me NOT to tell our parents or anyone else, because he doesn't want them to make a big deal of it or tell the other guys' parents.. So idk what to do. I want to help him, but he said I wouldn't be helping if I told anyone... I know telling is the right thing to do, but I don't want him to be upset with me..  He doesn't listen to me when I tell him not to leave the house and meet the guys... he says "I need to set things straight one last time." But he comes back looking awful.. I don't even know how my parents haven't noticed anything yet. I think he made up some excuse for a mark on his face.  I'm so worried. what can I do??? he doesn't listen to me when I tell him to stop dealing with the bullies.  I realize this is a serious problem, but he seems more scared about me telling our parents than being hurt. This isn't right. I kind of hope someone else finds out and tells.

They make excused for him cause he had a bad childhood at school and is OCD. He needs help and is a bad brother and bad person. He choked me cause he wanted the bathroom. How do I get our parents to stop making excuses for him? He should be in jail.

Whenever I leave the house my parents always need to know where I'm going. In this quarantine situation it's even worse because both my parents are home from work. I just graduated college and I now have nothing to do since everything is closed. I want to go over this guy's apartment and watch a movie, but I don't know how I'd be able to. I live with my mother. He house has a lot of leaks. Some mold here, and there, but not a lot. My my drinks a lot, and she drinks when shes suppose to be taking care of her respit kid. Hes a 26 year old autistic man. Hes able to communicate, and reason, but it's obvious he has autism. Several times I drove him home, because my mom was drunk. I thought about reporting her, but she cant afford to lose the money, so I was gonna take the job, and take care of him. I'm worried about him getting sick from the mold. Hes healthy, but still. Do you think it would be alright if I left it up to him weather he wanted to stay in the house or not? Hes only there for 1 night a week,  but I dont know when my moms gonna get the repairs done.

How do I tell my mom that she makes me feel bad? Cleaning stresses me out and I'm bad at it, but I still get in trouble if I don't do my chores. She took away my phone because of depression last year and she still hasn't given it back. Then she says it was also because I was always on it. I hate being home stuck with my mom I always so nervous and anxiety just never knowing what she's gonna do or say. My daughter is going to start college in soon. The college is 100 miles away. She will be sharing an apartment with 3 other girls. She ask me how I thought she should get around and go the grocery store and other places as there is no public transportation where she is staying. I ask her if any of the other girls at the apartment had a car and she checked and none did. They told her they will use a bike to get around. She wanted me to buy her a bike. I told her with the high cost of tuition, books, and her apartment, it might be a used bike. She visited my dad and mom last weekend and she talked to them about the problem she would have getting around at college and that I planned to buy her a bike. My dad told her that he used to be an ambulance driver and he had picked up MANY people that had be hit on their bike by a car. He said the bike driver was usually DEAD or severely injured in a car bike accident. He was going to get her something safer than a bike to use a college. He then took her to a car dealer and bought her a new Kia Soul so she would be safe. She thinks she has the greatest grandpa in the world now. I am not sure how I feel about this. Dad did not buy me a new car when I went to college. Is dad trying to make me look bad to my daughter because I could not afford to buy her any car let alone a new one or his he concerned about her safety on a bike. Hi, this question is pretty stupid and childish but I'm really stuck !  Where I am we can still choose where to go quarantine ourselves, so I'm facing an inner self dilemma. I am currently at my mom's home with her and my little sister (I am 19btw) but I know staying here for more than a month will probably drive me crazy, so I'm hesitating going to stay with my best friend and a crush of mine. But I feel really bad leaving my mom who told me she would be sad if I left, so I just can't make my mind up between what's right or wrong.  What should I do ? Is it too selfish to leave or just putting myself first ? 

On May 15 I will turn 19 and I will get an iPhone 10 as a gift from my grandmother but the issue is that my mother said that her iPhone got ruined (witch it didn't) and now she has a new one and she did that because she is mean and every time I think about my future iPhone I get really mad and upset because my mother ****** it.

I have walked in on my parents once but that's it. I never walked in on them not heard them again. I was 5 and my mom was 25 and my dad was 28. My workplace closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and of course, I'm out of a job and am struggling to get unemployment. My cousin and his wife are still working since they both work in healthcare-related areas, and they are in desperate need for a babysitter for their 4 kids for most likely the rest of the year (daycares are closed).  My question is should I take on babysitting 4 kids for extra money with the virus outbreak? Would that be a good idea?  My concern about is that I live with someone who has serious health issues and I'm scared about my cousin and his wife possibly carrying the virus on them as well as the kids and then myself bringing it home to my family with someone who is most at risk.

For majority of my childhood my parents had a nasty custody battle. After losing it my dad won full custody, and when I turned 18 he took of to another country, forcing my brother out of high school to come with him. His put a program on his phone that blocks my brother from contacting anyone his ever known. I haven't heard from my bro in 4 months and it really hurts. I live in a big house with 5 bedrooms. Upstairs sleeps my mother and father in-law, my 21 y/o brother in-law, and the other 25 y/o brother in-law. In the first level is my husband, toddler, and I. We have common areas like living room, tv room, patio, laundry. In this moments of lockdown, self quarantine, and social distance I have done the best to do the right thing. I stop going out, chat with my friends only on the phone, taking walks in the neighborhood and haven't take my toddler to playgrounds or playtime with her little friends, we skipped malls, etc. My husband is working from home and keeping social distance as well, my mother in-law is being sick for the past 2 weeks and is being at home (covid-19 test came negative, she's got a very bad cold). But brothers in law and father in-law keep hanging out with their friends, brothers going to house parties, hang out with friends, father golfing, go for drinks,etc. I already told them about my efforts to stay safe and not bringing the virus home, but they think people is exaggerating and they don't want to stay at home because they got bored. What should I do? I can't force them to stay home and I can't keep my toddler inside the bedroom for weeks. Anyone going through the same situation?

My dads getting out of jail and is kind of abusive. He bullies and terrorizes my family. My parents are in the middle of a divorce and before he went to jail he wasn't living with us. Now he's out and is moving in cause he has nowhere to go. He's decided he wants my room but with the corona stuff I really need my own space to do homework and just get away from family. My mom doesn't want to put up a fight because it'll cause a whole thing but I need my room and space. Should I give in and let him have my room?

So I don't like other people touching my stuff and my sister keep touching it. I am so stressed and annoyed when people touch my stuff. She says I shouldn't be mad over something that isn't that big of a deal and she still continues to do it. I said that is my stuff and to not touch my stuff but she still does it. Basically my ex Is angry i cant bring my son to his grandma cuz i fear for his health since she Just got back from the hospital to have a decent passing at home.. Theres a high risk of contamination considering it and that my son s aunt is a supermarket worker too.. im not italian and my family Is not here to suport If anything happens to me to stay with him and also im scared for him If he gets the virus cause they dont allow anyone close to who has It If he gets It... She went to prison for assaulting our Dad. Since coming out she has been homeless except when our Mom has her in the house and ignores the smell. She won't bathe and for some reason she hoards her hair that she has cut off. She maintains she is fine and it is like she lives in a delusion. She last showered in 2016. How might I encourage her to get help since she is not listening to our Mom or her boyfriend or our Dad who she won't even talk to.

As one example from yesterday, my mom offered to pick up a grocery order from Walmart since she'd be out by it and I'd be at work.  I told her they had made substitutions but nothing needed to be rejected, just let them load it into the car and that's it.  So she gets the stuff and rejects the substitutions and then says I never told her there were substitutions and she didn't know what to do and that I should just do it myself even though she offered.  This comes a week after she offered to do something else, I wrote down specific instructions word for word, then she screwed it up and got mad at me for it.  This has been happening for years now.  Could it be some kind of dementia?  She just turned 61 but It's been happening since her early 50s I'd say.  It's like she doesn't listen or comprehend anything she's told unless it's posted on Facebook and then when someone mentions it's wrong, it's somehow their fault for not telling her even though they did.   After this last incident I'm done speaking with her for a while since she blames me for her mistake.  It's not the missing stuff that's the problem, it's that she constantly screws up but it's everyone else's fault in her eyes.  I just don't understand how she can be given clear instructions and just completely ignore them.  

So basically, she'd just woke up (we were on the phone call); her mom told her to go clean up after her dog and we're all a bit cranky when waking up; so her mom then apparently takes her phone and says shes being disrespectful, which also means I can't go to her house, she can't come to mine, her mom wont tell me when shes ungrounded- it's just to the point I give up this is day 1 but still, now I don't get to see her. This was because of her not me, for the fact, I need advise please.

During my 30 years living with my parents they hardly ever ask me to do chores around the house because I complain about it so much and they don't feel like having to fight with me.  On the very rare occasions when my mom does make me do something to help out around the house I huff and wheeze and whine about it because I HATE manual labor.  When I do that my mom says that I'm acting like a retard because she knows calling me that gets under my skin.  I'm NOT retarded.  I have Asperger's.  There's a ******* difference.  I'm just a lazy fat ***.  I'd much rather that they just let me sit around playing video games and watching YouTube all day then ask me to help out with even the smallest chore.

When they're at home all they do is sit down and play on their ipads. My mom invites them over to our house and they do the exact same thing! she doesn't play with them and she barely talks to them. I am scared cause he was supposed to be home a half an hour ago and my Mom and sisters are staying somewhere else cause they had COVID-19 and got sick. They were out of town so my Dad and I have not been with them in a month. Thus we don;t have to quarantine. If he got it at the grocery store and died I am scared as I can only type cause I am autistic and can't call for help and no one will take care of me since Mom and my sisters are poisonous for 14 days. So would it be sexual abuse if a same sex parent pins his son to a bed when the son is naked, and lays on them laughing Also a year later the dad randomly touches sons private and chest on a couch while eyes are closed Would hate to accuse someone and I try to think of excuses EVERYDAY as of why this happend  And it was 7 years ago... Do most move back home?

I am 16 and my sister is 23. Quite a big age difference i know. But ever since she was my age, she has had the same boyfriend, now fiancé. When i was younger, about 7 or 8 i would always cry because it seemed as if she neglected me. We were best friends and then when she met him she was never home. She was always out with him and his family. She barely brought him to our house because i think she was embarrassed for some reason. Anyways i thought that this would end but it is still going on? Like she literally does the bare minimum to check in on me and my mom and is always just with her fiancé at his families house. He has 3 other siblings too and one of the girls is my age, she hangs out with her alllllll the time but doesn't even make an effort to hangout with me or even talk to me? I know she's older now and is doing her own thing but she still lives between his house and our house until they buy one together. We used to be super close and now she thinks the tiniest conversation is good enough for me. They have dated for legit 8 years you would think she was just in the honeymoon stage at first, but no it still continues. My mom even notices her selfishness too. She doesn't even have to pay to live here but can't even make an effort with me or my mom. Like, my mom is a single mom and works so hard driving me to school, cheer, buying dinner, groceries, cleaning, etc. You would think the older sibling would help... Idk. Have any of you experience similar? What should i do? 

My Mom always wanted to find her mother. Her mother left her with my Mom's father's parents when her parents divorced. Her father had died by suicide and my Mom's mother didn't want her anymore. My Mom always struggled with this. She said if she had been placed up for adoption she would be absolutely fine with that but instead she dropped her off with her grandparents while she went on vacation and she never saw her again. My Mom's grandparents told her "your Mom will be back" and built up her hopes for years. Her grandfather died a year later and her grandmother two years after that. Then my Mom was given to an aunt for a few months who then sent her to foster care and never spoke to her again. My mother was in 12 foster homes and sexually abused in 3 of them. So for years my mother had abandonment issues. Last November my mother committed suicide. She always said she wanted to find her blood mother but was too afraid to. She wrote in her suicide note that she wanted us to find her and she recorded her mother's name for the first time. I googled it and found it on a search and the woman is still living. Do I bother trying to contact this woman or is it a lost cause? I feel like this woman killed my Mom at the same time I figure this woman had a bad life also. My Mom used to say her mother would tell her while screaming at her "you should see what my father did". So should I try and find my mother's mother in her memory (my mother's)?

We have a gathering at a park for the day every year. I host. If this Coronavirus is still striking how do we celebrate with social distancing. Meeting via Internet is not an option. Do I postpone until 2nd half of the summer? Will the Coronavirus have faded by then even if it comes back in autumn and winter? This would be at most 40 people but I suspect more like 25 or 30 this year due to the outbreak. 

Her grandmother has no idea I am her adopted brother or the connection. I realized last weekend this person I know is her grandmother.

I recently posed a question about oneof my sisters wanting me to install a new kitchen faucet as well as put up 2 ceiling fans in her, her husband's, and 35 year old son's house. I tend to be a jack of all trades and over the years have learned how to do a lot of things on my on. My sister said she would pay me but I have a sneaking feeling for all that work she's only going to give me $40 or $50. If she were to call a plumber or electrician they would charge her probably triple that. In speaking with someone else they said that I shouldn't charge at all since it's family and I know how to do the work. Let's say I owned an auto repair shop, should I do things for free then if they bring their cars in for repair? It's still family. But I guess the difference is that the services I'm provided aren't my business. I just do it because I know how and they ask me to keep from paying someone full price. Should I expect to be paid fairly for the work I'm being asked to do or should I just do it because it's family?

I come from a multi-cultural and bi-national background. I was born and raised in the US to a Jewish-Israeli mother and a non-Jewish American father. I love both my parents very much, and I have a great relationship with both of them. That being said, I hate my last name. I've dedicated my life's work to my people (Jews), am a passport-holder and full citizen as Israel just as much as the US, am shortly moving to Israel, and fully identify as a Jew. It's not at all that I love my mom more than my dad or that I don't want anything to do with my dad's side of the family. None of this is true at all. I love my dad and my relatives from his side, but I don't really identify with them. Most of them are staunch Christians, and I'm just really different from them. I don't identify with their culture, heritage, nor traditions. I'm a Jew. That's who I am. I'd really prefer to have a Jewish last name, which is why I want to take my mom's maiden name (a very Jewish name). For the longest time I was planning on hyphenating my last name so I'd have both my mom's maiden name and my dad's last name, but I really, really do not want my current last name anymore at all. It's one of the most anglo, non-Jewish last names one could think of. You'd never meet anyone in Israel with my last name.  tl;dr: is wanting a last name that I feel accurately represents my heritage and identity a good reason to do away with my given family name from my dad's lineage? 

Today when my brother came downstairs he greeted my Dad and other brother kindly they left to get ready for the day. When I said hello and good morning he told me to shut the f up and go kill myself because I didn't belong in the family or on Earth. I have grown up with extremely strict parents. I'm not allowed to go anywhere but the library and even then I have to be home by 8. I'm also not allowed to have friends because "they're nothing but trouble". Im about to finish my first year of college and I have no friends because i never get to spend time with people (i only go to class and go home). I have a great opportunity to work as an RA. With this i will get free on campus housing, a free unlimited meal plan, free parking, and it also counts as an internship for my resume. Because the job will allow me to live on campus my parents don't want me to take it. They're pretty mad at me for even applying. I have a conference call about it today at three and my mom says that im "making a big mistake and will regret it". I just want to be able to make my own decisions. I tried talking to my parents and they said "don't try to convince us because we will not change our minds". I don't know what to do. I don't think this is something parents should be furious with their son/daughter about. I just want to be able to be on my own and see what its like. I would like the full college experience. I have missed out on a lot because of them. 

My sister is 25 and im 21. Shes taller and stronger than me and bullies me and gets everyone to side with her cause she yells at them and intimidates them. She gets high and drunk and makes messes at my moms house to get her mad and i have to clean it up. Lile why do you think she does this and how can i get her to stop. I cant defend myself cause im disabled. She threatens me. My mom enables her. Im tired of feeling like i need to b3come a boy or bully someone weaker cause of her she makes me feel trapped. Why does she do this. She does it everytime she comes over and i live with my mom. She tries to get at my dad to so he wont side with me. 

I got a call from my ex mother in law Helen that her husband John had died and he had requested in his burial instructions that I be a pallbearer. I told Helen it would be an honor to do so. Helen and John were really nice people when I was married to their daughter Darlene. I liked them a lot. After the funeral, Helen give each of the pallbearers as small thank you gift. She gave me John's coin collection. She told me John wanted me to have it if something ever happened to him. Darlene called me and wanted the coin collection back as she said it had a sentimental value to her. Even though John wanted me to have it, I am thinking the right thing to do is to give it back to Darlene to lessen the pain of her dad's death. Please help me do the right thing.

My sisters go to my grandmothers house but my mom won't let me go because she said someone needs to keep an eye on my father and I'm the oldest. I'm 16 but I don't like it when he's drunk all day. Some nights my mom stays over at my grandmothers with my sisters and it's just me and my father here. I feel like I have to keep them from getting drunk but I always fail to because he's drunk every day.
