Question: Advice on young adult norms? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 05:54 PM PDT So I'm 21, F, and daily life for me consist of either working or going to university. When im not doing either of those things there's a good chance I'm home with my family and in my bedroom where I'm writing (I like to write), reading or binging PLL, gossip girl. I can't understand why my sisters and aunts constantly shame me for being in the house all the time?? I occasionally hang with my friends but its not always spontaneous and we do things like go out to eat, go to the mall etc, but I don't have a boyfriend and smoking and alcohol really don't have an interest on me as much as concerts and actually doing recreational activities do? My sister constantly invites me to hang out with her friends but I always decline because they're fake in my opinion and she always has drama? I just don't understand why they continuously shame me for being home to the point I question what else am I supposed to do? I'm not depressed or anything like that and I do love going out with my friends but Im content with being alone in my room when I'm not doing anything?? I live in a small town too so there's not much to do?? Is this not normal? were also in the middle of a pandemic so I can't understand why they keep joking about how normal it is for me to stay inside while they go out and about? |

And i never responded because he knows he's my best friend and we've been friends for forever What made him ask such silly question |

Question: Am I wrong for thinking this way? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 03:42 PM PDT On the 7th, my friend died after his car got hit by a drunk driver. Earlier today, I went his funeral, and I was crying the whole time; that is, until I found out that he was a liberal and didn't tell anyone that. After that, I became indifferent to his death. I feel that since he was a liberal, he deserved to be killed and I should start scrubbing all evidence that I was his friend. At one point, I laughed when I saw his face in a photograph. Everyone got pissed off, and I was kicked out. Why does everyone care about him so much? He was a liberal, just scum of the earth. |

Question: Confused about this? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 12:48 PM PDT So, I have this friend who i also do pt with. So yesterday I had a session and she had been saying how I haven't been there for a while and I had told her I was there the day before. She told me she wasn't, she was off having a great day, well almost great and that she went to the drs. I out of habit asked her why, she just smiled, but was silent. so then I'm like oh wait, I forgot, I'm not allowed to ask that. so almost jokingly like a parrot, but I guess also serious, she said "not allowed to ask that, you're not allowed to ask that." I said I know, I'm sorry ok? She laughed and said it's fine or it's ok or you're okay.We then moved onto another excercise equipment and I'm guessing another patient came up to her and said hi,she said hi, how are you. the patient said wet, I'm not going to hug you today. so my pta said "ok, air hug" and the patient asked her how she was and she said pretty well, the patient said last time I saw you it was really great. she went closer to her and said,"I have to have shoulder surgery" &then After the patient left I said,I was going to ask you how your shoulder was doing, she said, well now you know. I'm trying not to let it bother me too much.I'm assuming the reason for the dr had to do with the shoulder and that's when she found out she had to have shoulder surgery. Also usually at the end of my sessions she usually gives me a hug, and I understand people are freaking out right now,but she's not. We did a lot(rest of story/question in update) of laughing, she let me put a scarf and necklace on her table/desk, talking and she did a lot of touching my arm when we were talking and joking around, and to make sure my posture was right and I was doing the excercise right, she touched by back/shoulders and may have moved my hair once. And she did have my st patty day earrings and necklace (that I think my pt gave her) on and told me she was saying she should put the scarf on now, but was like it's not the same green, not that it matters, in her words, she was just being vein. Yesterday though, at the end of my session no hug, didn't even say air hug, or because of things going on right now, I'm not going to give you a hug. And she used to call me to my session by a nick name, but the last time she did that was Feb 20. and I had 5 sessions with her including yesterday since then. I know no one will no for sure, but what are peoples opinions on this. After she told me she went to the dr, but didn't tell me about the surgery, but did tell the other person about her surgery, or not having the nicknames anymore or saying something about hugs to the other patient, but not me, means she decided we're not friends anymore? Until yesterday, I thought I was the only patient she gave hugs too, cause of mine and my moms appointments, sometimes I've been there for hours, and never seen her give another patient a hug. So does that mean she likes that other patient more as a friend than me or do you think she meant anything about it or if it meant we're not friends anymore, or am I overthinking this? Please no negative replies, if you don't wont to even try to help, just scroll by.talked about that a couple of minutes and she said, not my first rodeo. |
Question: How to cope when you literally have no friends? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 12:24 PM PDT As an AUTISTIC teenager who has struggled her whole life with this? Any advice from people who might have been thru the same thing? |
Question: Should I hang out with this girl ? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 12:02 PM PDT I'm a 21 year old guy. There is a girl that works at my job, but in another department, she's 26. We've known each other on a surface level for a year. Little chit chat here and there. Here's the thing. She tells me recently that she thinks I seem like a cool guy, and that she doesn't have that many friends, and if I would want to hang out with her some time. I told her I'm really busy, but that I would like to hang out with her and that I'll let her know. Here's the thing, I'm not sure if I want to be friends with her. Right now we're casual acquaintances. And usually I only take girls on dates, I don't have many friends that are chicks. If I spend time or money on a chick, I'm dating her. You know what I mean? Usually I have my bro's, and then I date girls. So, I didn't get from her that she "likes" me. At all. What do you think? I'm usually not even friends with co workers to avoid potential scandals. Something about her honestly seems off. She's 26, doesn't drive, and still lives with her folks. Plus she can be quite moody. I don't know much about her, otherwise. She compliments me and my car too. |
Question: How do I stop people from saying this to me? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 09:13 AM PDT I got a job as an intern. I was VERY LUCKY to find an internship in a field I am interested in and best of all I get paid for being an intern, something very few of my high school classmates do. I have a great boss at work that I just adore. He spends a lot of his time training me and is always available to help me when I have questions or screw up something. He is also the nicest person in the world. I really lucked out getting him for a boss. He NEVER hits on me. He is just my friend. Sometimes he takes me to meetings and/or business lunches to give me experience doing these things. It almost always happens that some of the women will ask me if I am sleeping with my boss. I just tell people I am an intern and I am here to learn. I am not here to sleep with my boss. Can someone tell me a way to stop people from asking me if I sleep with the boss. He is about my mother's age so I have ZERO romantic interest in him even though he is so good looking. Or give me a good answer when someone asks me if I am sleeping with the boss that will stop people from asking such a stupid question. I am just learning about business so is it common for girls to be sleeping with their boss in business. |
Question: Why do my friend and I fight so much? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 07:33 AM PDT Yahoo answers is always my last resort but I have no clue where else to go at this point. I have this friend, and I love her to death but the past few months we have just been at each other non stop, our other friend always ends up trying to settle it or trying to help which feels really unfair to her. We've had a lot of great times together and I told her our friendship wouldn't break down like past ones had and i don't wanna go back on that but talking to her and being around her ends up being so draining. So I told her i wanted to go a little while without talking just so I could try to figure out what i was thinking, she agreed to it. I hid my phone from myself to avoid any conflict but within that day she sent me an e-mail about how it was making her feel like ****, but after not talking for even just a few hours I could breathe so much easier, but she's basically all I have at school, and i still love her. I just have no idea what to do |
Question: How can I break the ice with my female manager? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 07:31 AM PDT So at work, I think this female manager likes me as a person at least. Her and I have worked on a couple projects together and she appreciates the work I did for her. She said to me personally she appreciates me. Now her boss, is a big tease. He can get her to laugh and they talk often, sometimes about non business related topics.I've never been a tease because I'm afraid the other person will take my comments the wrong way. While I'm sure she likes me, I sense a tiny bit of tension because I don't engage in much small talk with her. Maybe she doesn't know me well enough yet. What should I do?Her and her boss are close in age so maybe the conversation comes naturally to them. I'm not saying I want to date her. |
Question: Should I stop letting them help me? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 07:13 AM PDT I go to high school 4 blocks from where my mom works. Sometimes after school I walk to where she works, find an empty desk and do my home work and then ride home with her. Several of her male co workers introduced themselves to me and told me if I needed help with my homework, to ask them. Sometimes I did just that. They were ALWAYS helpful and nice and I become friends with many of them. Even mom's boss told me if I needed help with my homework, he was available to help me. One of the female workers told me the guys did not really want to help me. She said the only reason they talked to me was because it was a boost to their ego to have a beautiful teenage girl talk to them. None of them EVER hit on me or suggested ANYTHING like that. Some of the guys had children my age. I have NO ROMANTIC INTEREST in any of them and I don't think they have any interest in me. They NEVER flirted with me. I though they were just nice friendly people. Am I doing something wrong letting these guys help me with my homework? Should I stop doing that? |
Question: I think she made me fall in love... or what is this? What am I feeling? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 05:50 AM PDT So it's a really really weird thing that's happened to me lately. There's this girl, probably 14 or 15 (I don't want to mistake, but she looks sometimes 13). While I was fishing, she came around and looked at what I was doing and seemed really curious and enthuasiast, had those wide eyes while watching at me while she asked me 'where have you learnt to throw the fishing net like that? I tried but I'm a mess, it's really hard to do and you need lots of technique'. I was like 'what does this little girl want?' Then she asked what kind of fishes I had caught (like, she also knew how to distinguish them????). Then she started saying 'when I went fishing with my dad, I used to break the fishes' neck, like this' and she told me to give her one of the fishes I had in the basket and she basically killed the fished by the neck, and wasn't scared at all by the fish moving in her hands, she actually knew how to handle it. I was like, what? A teenage girl not b****** around with boys and acting popular, but actually being like a child, not like a grown woman? I was somehow impressed by the little girl I wanted to let her follow me. Then she asked about the boots and some other things. She was somehow, the nicest girl I had ever met. Like, a child and not a b****. Can I wait some years to be with her? I am 18 by the way, we can be friends now and we she's older we can be a couple |
Question: Is it okay to not want to be friends with your significant other's friends? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 04:04 AM PDT I don't have anything against his friends nor i do care if he hangs with them or if they come over, but i don't care to have any type of relationship with them. The way i look at it is his friends are his friends and my friends are my friends. Is that wrong? |
Question: Am i vulnerable in my male friend's life? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 02:34 AM PDT i have this friend of mine who initially told me he loves me i believed him and later i came to fall in love with him and now he is saying he doesn't love me. but he is so close to me. we actually do everything together. but he says he is confused about as to whether he loves me or not. |
Question: Is she a bad friend? ? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 12:24 AM PDT My supposed best friend lives in a major city and I live 2 hours south in a college town. I come to the major city maybe 2 times a year because even though its my home town I did not have any family to stay with while there. And I cant afford to stay at a hotel unless its for a really special event. I don't drive and my friend does. When I visit home I take the train. In the 7 years I have lived in another town. My friend has not visited me once. Anytime we have hung out I went to the city to visit her. And then she knows I don't have a car and she NEVER picks me up at train station and give me a ride to my destination. Ubers are super expensive it costs like 20$ to get to where im going. It would be less than 10 minutes for her to come and give me a ride. There has been times when we would go 2 the same place and she has to pass my location to get there and she wont to give me a ride. I even offer gas money. My counselor thinks nothing is wrong with my friend not offering a ride and not visiting me in 7 years. She said well you want her to be bored and sit in the house with you. I said no we can find things to do me and another friend who came to visit ME went to a bar in town, a paint and sip, concerts. My counselor is also the type of person that wrong pick her friend up from the airport My best friend said she doesn't like to drive 2 hours. but why not get on Amtrak train like I do? I pay alot of money to make it to her events but she never attempts to come to mine. I paid someone gas money to take me to the city and back home just so I can make her graduation party. But she didnt even attempt to come to my dinner for academic achievement. She got mad at me because I didnt hop on a train the night after work to make her birthday party. But didnt even attempt to come visit me on my bday last year. I always have to come to her. She's too good to travel but im not? It's just one sided. |
Question: Why would you fight a drunk person? Posted: 18 Mar 2020 12:01 AM PDT Why would you ever want to fight a drunk person ? Thats not himself or her just let that person act dumb I mean at one point we all like that in public because we were drunk if you fight that drunk person you will likely go to jail or prison depends on what you do to that person just let it be that drunk person will go to jail by himself if he gets caught. A year ago I went to a night club after the night club I was just walking to my car then I see this drunk guy trying to start a fight with everyone I just kept on walking then I saw another guy standing up to the drunk guy about to fight him I hope hes ok but for reals would you rather go to jail for assault or stay out of it ? |
Question: My friend told me to shut up? Posted: 17 Mar 2020 11:09 PM PDT I'm not much of a talker but today on call we had this talk over something. I didn't agree to something my friend said and wanted to put my input. My friend didn't agree and I'm not sure who interrupted who but we both found ourself talking over each other. Then my friend tells me to Shut up for a minute. I then told my friend goodbye and said I hope they have a nice day— then I hung up the call. Yes I thought it was rude because I never once use that term on my friend whenever they ramble on talking or every time I do talk about something, my friend seems to take the conversation back on themself and go on. How do I end up starting talking to my friend again? I still feel upset but I'm not mad at my friend. How long should I give it until I talk them again? |
Question: Why would a mutual friend/associate ask me if me and my guy friend was a thing? Posted: 17 Mar 2020 10:22 PM PDT I went to a party with my guy friend and his roommate... So because I went to the party with him I stayed with him (safety reasons). Me and him went downstairs to dance and ran into a mutual friend/associate (who is a female likewise). My guy friend told me that he'd be right back and stick with our mutual friend... After he had left me the mutual friend was like "Are you and ____ a thing?" and I for the longest time has been wondering why she asked me if me and him was a thing AND the fact that she asked me when he walked away ESPECIALLY when the case/fact is that they're closer to each other than me and her. |
