Question: 2 maid of honor speeches and im not sure what to do? Posted: 16 Jul 2017 06:04 PM PDT I am a maid of honor in a wedding soon that has 2 maid of honors. The other MOH has known the bride since they were kids, we met in college. The bride would like us both to give a speech for she wants us represented equally. I asked the other MOH if she wanted to work together on it and declined. I then sent her my speech for her thoughts, but she wouldnt send hers. When i asked why, she responded that she wanted hers to be special since they have been friends longer. I feel like she is trying to prove that she is better friends with the bride than me since shes been around longer. Should i rewrite my speech? Not give one? Or take a differant speech approach (like be funny) to not duplicate whats already going to be said? I do intend on incorporating whats coming from the heart but am looking or feedback and thoughts. |
Question: Etiquette for hosting a bridal shower? Posted: 16 Jul 2017 11:14 AM PDT I am the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding. The other bridesmaids and I are starting to plan the shower. We are having trouble with a venue. We have decided to try for a shower at someone's home for budget reasons. The bride is also my roommate until she gets married, so does that mean we can't have it at MY townhouse because she lives here? Standard etiquette I've seen says that you're not supposed to hold a shower at the future bride's home, her mother's home, or the groom's mother's home because it can be seen as a ploy for gifts from the family. I'm the only bridesmaid in the area that has enough space to hold 30 people. The other bridesmaid's homes/apartments means the majority of the guests will have to travel 2-3 hours for a shower. Her mother and the groom's mother live in the area, but we're not "supposed" to do that either. Our other "home" option is that the groom's apartment has small space available to rent out to tenants that can hold up to 50, but is that bad too? What should we do? There's only 4 bridesmaids so we're splitting the costs 4 ways, so we really can't afford a 20/25 per person cost head count at a restaurant or catered in to a banquet hall. |
Question: Need help selecting a real sapphire.? Posted: 15 Jul 2017 12:55 PM PDT Planning to get married in the future, my girlfriend likes sapphires, so I plan to get a sapphire ring . I am in the military and I do not make a lot of money, I figure I could get a gemstone online and have a jeweler put the gemstone on a wedding band. The question comes to: how to pick out the right sapphire. As an inexperienced individual like me, there is not a way for me to identify if the gemstone is overpriced. Basically what I want is a gemstone with very little inclusion to the naked eye, around 1.10 to 2.0 carat, and budget is $700 Here are a few gemstones I picked out that I thought is a good choice, but I am inexperienced and would like to ask others for their help to verify if the gemstone is nearly inclusion free. https://www.gemrockauctions.com/auctions/148-cts-natural-blue-sapphire-loose-gemstonenew-sri-lanka-656480 https://www.gemrockauctions.com/auctions/190-cts-blue-ceylon-sapphire-sh18-531765 https://www.gemrockauctions.com/auctions/197cts-natural-sri-lankan-blue-sapphire-oval-shape-546058 https://www.gemrockauctions.com/auctions/133cts-natural-sri-lankan-blue-sapphire-pear-shape-546066 I understand I am asking a lot for help, but this is very important to me, and the biggest event of my life. If possible please provide tips on how to pick out a good sapphire, give suggestion on why the sapphire was not a good quality gemstone would be gladly appreciated |

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 08:17 AM PDT Helping my sister plan her wedding set to be early next year (in March) and she has chosen a beautiful orange dress to be her wedding gown as she cannot stand the thought of being in a white wedding dress. The groom is going to be in a dark brown tux with a dark green shirt underneath The best man is going to be in a dark brown tux with a dark blue shirt underneath and the groomsmen are going to be in a dark brown tux with a dark red shirt underneath They don't have a theme |

Question: Should my fiance's son be invited to our wedding? Posted: 14 Jul 2017 03:35 PM PDT My fiance' and I are arguing about this one. She doesn't want to invite her 14 year old son to our wedding. She says she wants to pretend for the day that she "did it right" and had only ever been with me. Also, some members of her extended family don't know he exists, and would never forgive her for having a child "out of wedlock" or having a mixed race child I'm concerned that everyone will assume it was my idea to exclude him and I'll come off as the bad guy. Frankly, I'd rather deal with a racist yelling for a day then deal with secret hurt feeling from a kid for years . Should I invite him, or just assume my wife knows her own family? If we invite him, should I put him in the wedding party? If we DON'T invite him, should I explain to him that it wasn't my idea? |
Posted: 14 Jul 2017 10:51 AM PDT I'm a 17 year old white male, and my girlfriend is a 16 year old black female, we are deeply in love, and want to get married, but don't know how long we should wait after engagement (That is if I infact DO propose) |

Question: What will wedding guests do in between eating? Posted: 13 Jul 2017 11:27 AM PDT I'm having an outdoor/beachfront wedding reception instead of traditional wedding. There will be an acoustic guitar player singing outside but no DJ or dance floor. I'm worried because this is an hour between end of cocktail hour and start of dinner . I'm worried people won't have anything to do? There will be an outdoor bar available and bon fires in the sand set up |

Question: What's this idiot's deal? Posted: 13 Jul 2017 08:56 AM PDT He hasn't called/texted in 6 months. He calls from a new number, I pick up. He says "hi (my name)" "who is this?" I ask, "his name", "ok", I'm not sounding so happy and keeping quiet so he can say why he called, then he just yells "why are you being so aggressive?" What's his problem? |

Question: What can I expect to pay to marry? Posted: 12 Jul 2017 11:29 PM PDT I don't want a weeding just me, my fiance, and the officiant. We already have the ring and bands, and I know the marriage license is $30. What other fees can I expect? I live in Denver, Co. |
Question: Fiance and I can't agree on wedding plans. What should I do? Posted: 12 Jul 2017 09:28 AM PDT My fiance wants a traditional wedding, lots of guests, ceremony, reception, you get it. I personally want to elope. Just us. Over the years, my fiances' family has grown to dislike me. They don't agree with my life choices and they think i'm "taking their boy" away from them. They think i'm wasting my life by pursuing a career in cosmetology, don't like that i'm not religious, etc. I don't want negativity on our special day. I don't need unnecessary frills and I don't want it. My fiance wants a big wedding but in the same breath will tell me it'll be "weird" because i "have no family." ((my family is composed of alcholics and drug addicts. I refuse to associate with them)) aside from my parents and one sibling. I have no clue what to do. I'm totally stressed out trying to please everyone else and I don't want that to be the tone for the rest of our lives. Advice? |
Question: Wedding Reception Invitation Etiquette Question? Posted: 12 Jul 2017 08:09 AM PDT A friend of mine is getting married on July 23, 2017. I have received a document in the mail, announcing the date of the wedding, and inviting me to the reception, which is scheduled for July 30, 2017. I have accepted the invitation to the reception. Would it be rude to call on July 24, to confirm that they actually got married? |
Posted: 11 Jul 2017 04:58 PM PDT Ok so I'm her bridesmaid and best girl and was playing around in her closet and decided to try on her wedding dress while holding a tall glass I poured from her fridge and I accidentally tilted the cup splashing alot of it all over the white gown front. How do I get the stain out? I tried water and soap and spray but nothing happens. You gotta tell me what to do before she comes back home. Like there's no way I can confront her. 😯 |
Posted: 11 Jul 2017 01:06 PM PDT My fiance and i want to have a honeymoon around the bahamas area, or honestly any island like it in that area. Her biggest want is to have one of those little huts over the ocean, anyone have any websites they can point me to that has that option? |
Question: Who pays for what in a modern wedding? Posted: 11 Jul 2017 12:24 PM PDT My only daughter is engaged. When I got married, and traditionally, my parents paid all the ceremony and reception costs. My husband and I offered to but my daughter and her fiancee want to pay. I still want to contribute. They have their venue booked and short list for caterers and other vendors and it looks like the cost will be around $15000 for 150 people. I will also add that my daughter and my future son in law are both 27 and have very good paying jobs, they're not straight out of school trying to pay off their student loans. Should we still pay for all? Help pay? Split even? Have them pay? What is the norm nowadays? |
Question: Been married 4 months and have thoughts of regrets..... What do I need to do? Posted: 11 Jul 2017 11:31 AM PDT Dated my wife (gf at the time) for 8 months. Things were great and we new everything about each other. I proposed while she was going through a program in Georgia (while I was in TX) and for the first 6 months of the engagement things were great too... (we had a year and 4month engagement) I found out through the engagement how she handles stress which was avoiding it until the end and when she did get start the whole wedding process she worked around the clock. After about the 6months of engagement was when things started going south. I hate to bring this into it but She is Catholic and I was raised Baptist/Non. Over the engagement we basically put off the religion issue bc it was hard to talk to each other about which i know is the biggest no no:( During my bad times during the engagement and now during this difficult time I keep having second thoughts about the whole thing. I have found more about how not similar we are and seen to find way to push each other away through our differences. Randomly there was this girl that i was friends with before meeting my wife and I noticed how we were able to talk about anything and we were similar is so many ways but I never went into that direction. I keep having second thoughts on my current choices bc of that girl. I unfollowed that girl on all social media so i wouldn't see her or think about her but anytime I have a bad situation with my wife that girl pops into my head. What should I do? |
Posted: 11 Jul 2017 06:24 AM PDT I agreed to be in my sister's wedding when she asked me, and everyone is asking a million questions and gushing and all of that. I've been married once before and had a regular 20,000$ wedding (which I know people spend way more) and I realized then that I don't agree with any of the hoopla and it's really not in my personality. I have since remarried as well and opted to have only 20 people of closest family at my house. Anyway, that's where I'm coming from. And I just feel like I stick out like a sore thumb. I am not even the type of personality to gush and be excited and ask nosey or even polite questions. I just feel like I'm not normal lol. I feel guilty for really just not caring about dresses and pictures and "stuff" that in my opinion, has nothing to do with marriage. I feel like I'm a bad person. I just feel awkward as hell, is it really even that weird to carry on unless a specific convo about wedding stuff comes up? I just feel bad for seeming uninterested since I'm not behaving like everyone else |

Question: Should I be offended for not getting invited to a destination wedding? Posted: 10 Jul 2017 10:33 PM PDT One of my very close high school friends (my best friend junior year) just had a destination wedding. I talked to her when she got engaged and congratulated her. I never even received a save the date though and my feelings are kind of hurt. Yes, we've lost touch over college living in different states..(we are both 24 now). I didn't expect to be in the wedding or anything but to not even be invited or even receive an announcement or anything hurt my feelings. Around Christmas I texted her a merry Christmas text (if I'm being honest it was sort of to probe) and in conversation she said she was planning on having a destination wedding with just immediate family and a few close friends. I was polite about it and forgot about it. The wedding was today and I saw pics and it didn't look that small. Not gonna lie it's hurt my feelings. I mean even if it was just a small wedding, shouldn't you at least send an announcement or something to people you care about. I just don't really know whether I'm justified in feeling a little hurt and like I was snubbed and would love a second opinion. |

Question: Marriage traditions... ring finger right or left ? Posted: 08 Jul 2017 01:21 PM PDT In my culture it is traditional to wear your engagement and wedding ring on the ring finger on the left hand. Recently I've been talking to a guy who comes from an Eastern European cultural background and his family traditionally wear it on the ring finger on the ring hand. Could anyone explain to me the meaning behind the difference in wearing it in either hand? I know we wear it on the left hand because of the vena amoris and the belief that it ran directly to the heart but what is the significance of the right hand? |

Posted: 07 Jul 2017 09:02 PM PDT I married my boyfriend after he graduated from basic training for the army and my dad and his side of the family has NO IDEA that I am married. They only think I'm engaged and I really don't want to disappoint my dad because he didn't want me to get married in the first place however it was what was needed in order for me to live on base when my boyfriend(husband) graduates from his AIT. Is it still possible to still have a wedding where you say "I do" and make it seem like i was never married or whatever. Not exactly sure how to word it but I would just not like to disappoint my dad by telling him I already went to the courthouse. |
Question: Ideas for an engagement besides rings? Posted: 07 Jul 2017 03:26 PM PDT I got engaged last night. It was pretty informal and we aren't planning on getting rings, at least not until later on. I still think it would be nice to have something to show that we're engaged or something like that? I don't want it to be tacky like t shirts or something. Anyways, do you guys have any ideas? |
