My boyfriend is 35. He works as an artist and lives at his parent's house to save on rent. I just recently found a job in another state. We had been dating for four years, and this month is the last month we will be together in the same state. He proposed to me hurriedly in front of his parent's garage door with a $1,500 ring and said he wants to move in with me when I relocate. My new job pays over $100,000 a year, he is still having issues finding freelance artist work. I really want us to work out but the hurried way in which he proposed to me really sank my heart a little. Why did he wait to propose to me in such a hasty sloppy fashion after I just got a new job and about to move away? Why didn't he do it earlier? He says the basement he is living in smells musty and that he is "not happy living at his parent's house". He said he would like to move in with me more than anything. He says he will work freelance and look for more stable job positions after we move in together. He says he has some savings and will get a retail part-time job to pay his half of the bills.... Should I let him move in with me? I didn't accept his proposal, I didn't say "no", I just said I would think about it.

She's a year and a half old and I only feed her Purina Cat chow Indoor formula, at the same times daily. She's been on this food she she went from kitten to adult food, and I'd say within the last 3-4 months I've noticed she vomits up, excuse my analogy, a turd- like mass composed of digested cat food at least once a week. Is this normal?

I love my husband but he is the biggest slob and pack rat in the world. He saves everything and throws it all over the place. He has his stuffed animals from when he was 2 years old, old toys, and accumulated garbage filling up our garage and house. (he is 34 years old) I am even embarrassed to have company over. I am pretty sure I could toss some of this stuff and he would never notice. Would that be wrong? We have talked about it and insists he will never get rid of it because it "may be useful someday." My wife is emotionally/mentally abusive to me. She is also sometimes very sweet and caring. I never know which person I'm going to deal with. I'm always scared as to what I am going to "do wrong" next. I do all the chores in the house an treat her with respect and love her. I don't deserve this. My betta is about a year old and the last couple of months he's been acting very oddly. He'll see me and swim a little, but shortly after he starts to swim he'll tip over on his side in kind of the classic dead goldfish manner. Sometimes he'll sleep like this as well, but it's always near the top of the tank; never the bottom. He's not floating because he's overfed, and I'm only feeding him once a day because I thought that might be the problem. We recently moved his tank in case the issue was depression, so that might be it and I just don't know it. As I said, it's been going on for awhile even after several water changes and making his tank roomier so he could exercise more. He used to be really feisty and energetic and now he's just lethargic and it's rare to get him to flare. Does anyone have an idea about what the problem might be?

Okay my wife and I have been married for roughly 7 1/2 years and have two kids together (I'm 27 shes 25) P.S we did have a babysitter on this evening. Recently there have been some changes in my wife's behavior and I don't know if I should be worried, scared or excited. About 5 months ago our schedules finally allowed us to have more social time in our lives, my wife is the social bug and I'm a bit more secluded. But I'm supportive of her desire to go out with the girls more often. However, here is where it gets a little weird. When my wife gets to drinking her inhibitions tend to go out the window. She is very adamant that she is in no way shape or form bi-sexual. I've always accepted that women tend to be a little more touchy feelie than guys are. But last week one of our mutual friends was having a terrible day, so we invited her over to have a few drinks and to just hang out. I'll admit we all drank a little more than we should have and I know how alcohol can effect ones judgment. It was getting late and I was ready for bed, I went to the restroom, but on my gym shorts and went into our room. I remember coming back out to get some water, and then seeing our friend leaving with her ride. I blacked out (first time in YEARS) and have no memory of this next part; (long story short) apparently when I came out to get some water I sat on the couch and one thing led to another, and I am told that we all ended up naked, I groped our friend, she groped me, my wife groped both of us, basically anything and everything except genital to genital penetration. I am mortified at the thought of basically cheating on my wife IN FRONT OF HER!!! But here is where my situation gets even weirder! My fiancé & I have been together for 9 years (engaged for 2) & we have an 8 month old baby. We are supposed to be getting married in 5 months (everything is booked/paid for). However, since I was about 4 months, he has become an alcoholic & its really weighing me down. 2 months ago, a really bad night happened and has left me really questioning everything. He got so drunk, that he put multiple holes in our walls, head butted me, told me he was going to **** me up and that he hated me. On top of that my best friend was in town, also very drunk & I watched her kiss him. He did pull away but it was something horrific to see. After that night I am no longer talking to her, and told him he needed to quit drinking. Since then, he will not drink for a few days, and then he will drink one night, wake me up screaming at me and then I am forced to leave with our baby to my moms because i do not want her around it. He always apologizes in the morning and says he keeps drinking because he can't handle the shakes. I want him to go to treatment but I want him to do it on his own, because if he really wants to get better it has to be on his own terms. I'm embarrassed right now because I know my baby & I shouldn't be around this. I embarrassed to call of the wedding when my bridesmaid have their dress and save the dates already have gone out. I never in a million years would have expected him to go off the deep end like this but this is killing me. Im devastated and I dont know what to do.

I've been told this about 5 times before but I don't really get it. I mean I can barely even cook and it's not like I plan on spending all day cleaning and doing things for my husband... So what does it mean when guys tell you they'd wife you/you're wife material?

I got married thinking I had found a man I could truly share a life with. I even married later in life because I wanted to make sure when I made the marriage commitment, I made it right - I've always taken marriage quite seriously and never felt like divorce should be an option. I had the same simple dreams many do, didn't ever have to be rich - just wanted a husband who would act as a teammate in life and a few children to complete our little family.... instead I'm afraid I got a husband who is the biggest child I will ever have. We dated on and off for a few years and he seemed perfect - he took me out, did the dishes when I cooked, asked my opinion on serious matters, was always willing to compromise... and in all other regards put on a perfect show. Then we married... Immediately (within the first month of our marriage) he told me he had no desire to have any joint accounts and that I was to take care of myself and he would take care of himself. Since that day, when we go grocery shopping he puts a divider between 'his' food and 'mine'. At first I thought the transition was difficult for him and would just be slower than I anticipated and so I still tried to be a good wife by doing the things I thought a wife was supposed to do. I worked two jobs than came home to make dinner (with the food I bought) for him and clean the house, often not getting to bed until the wee hours of the morning. He on the other hand would come home, sit in front of a video game for hours, not even coming to join me for the meal I had made (he just grabbed a plate and downed it in front of the TV) - when he was tired he went off to bed while I cleaned up the mess. Whenever I confronted him about this he would just say something like "well I didn't ask you to make dinner or do my laundry". We've now been married two years. I hardly ever make dinner for the two of us anymore because I found I was quickly running out of money (and therefore food) by the end of the month. He on the other hand makes significantly more than I and often spends his days rock climbing with friends and buying the latest in Ipod, Video Game, or computer equipment (I have only been able to get my hair done twice at a school since we've been married because I just lack the funds to do anything for myself). We had always talked about having children before we were married - a HUGE reason why I married him was that I thought he'd make a great father.... so a little while after marriage, I asked him when he wanted to start a family. I was devastated and crushed by his reaction - he started YELLING and told me I was selfish to want to bring a child into this world - and when appalled, I started crying, he said "what is wrong with you?! You can't have children, you're an emotional wreck, you'd mess them up". At one point I even became pregnant accidentally and when I told him he became livid, saying things like, "you cheated on me didn't you, because I've been really careful and this couldn't have happened unless you were sleeping with someone else!" "You're trying to trap me, you tricked me into this!" etc. etc. Again I was devastated by his reaction. (Luckily, I guess, all things considered, I miscarried shortly after). I truly feel (from our many conversations following this episode) however that his not wanting children mostly stems from the fact that he would than have to start acting responsible and take care of someone besides himself. He is a bit of a narcissist as well. He constantly talks about how smart or good-looking he is and makes a game of pointing out the flaws in others we meet (by saying things like "did you see how fat that chick was?" or "man, that's a face I never have to see again"). These insults have spread to my own friends and family as well.... and to myself. He constantly tells me I'm too emotional about all this and that he wants me to get medicated because "I'm letting things bother me that shouldn't be bothering me". He also can't share anything that he feels is "his". The other day he was watching TV on his computer with his headphones on and I sat behind him for a while just watching the scenes and trying to guess what was being said. When I finally got up the courage to ask if I could listen too (turn on the speaker) he responded by saying, "Do you have headphones?" - he of course knowing fully well that I didn't. I don't know what to do, I really do love him, despite all his flaws and have tried to make this work. We've been to counseling, talked with ecclesiastic leaders (oh, when they tell him something he doesn't want to hear he just says he doesn't believe in the church), and read lots of books - sometimes he'll change for a few days but he always reverts back to his old ways. I'm out of ideas.... HELP!

We have been married from a month. I have never performed oral, he has sort of showed interest in oral before trying to do oral to me but I have always stopped him (fearing he would ask me to return the favor), but anyway I don't like it. I'm 27 and have been married for three years to a wonderful man whom I cherish and love more than life itself. he and I have a wonderful relationship and are best friends. he is the first man I have ever been with sexually. I dated a few other guys in the past but was not 'active'. We have a great sex life, but the only bone of contention he has is that I refuse to let him see me naked-at any time. I simply just don't think it's appropriate for a woman to prance around naked in front of anyone at any time, even if it's her husband. I just find it undignified and quite frankly a little bit slutty putting it all on display like that. Is he being unreasonable by wanting me to do this? Should I cave on my convictions just to make him happy?

I have been married almost 7 years--we are extremely happy in our marriage, but we hardly ever get to see each other. My husband works for a company that was recently bought out by another company. Every since this new company took over my husband is never home. I work days and he works evenings. I found some porn stuff on my husbands phone while I was pregnant and thought maybe it was like pop ups or something. I always notice that the history is erased. Then the other day I went to use his phone and saw he was googling some porn. He's rather religious and I've mentioned my suspicions b4 and he always has excuses. My husband and I have been married for 6 months, together for over 3 years, and friends for over 10. He broke up with his ex almost 5 years ago. While he's made it abundantly clear that he's not interested in pursuing a relationship with her, friendship or otherwise, she continues to email him every few weeks despite never receiving a reply. My husband has tried to block her emails, but every time she gets a new job (which is every 2-3 months), a new email address comes with it, and the emails start up again. To complicate the situation, his 'best friend' is dating the ex's best friend. Now that my husband and I have moved away from that area, my husband's 'best friend' and the ex spend time together regularly, so she hears constant feedback about what's going on in my husband's life. I would like to email her so she knows that I'm aware that she's still contacting him, but my husband is begging me not to claiming that it'll bring unwanted drama and complications to his life. So, to email or not to email, that is the question....

My husband and I have been together for 17 years and married for 13. We have 4 children together and he has one from a previous marriage. About 4 months ago he told me he didn't love me anymore and wanted a trial separation. Total shock to me! It came out of nowhere! During the two months he was gone he was home almost every night to see the kids, and we never worked on us (due to him-I tried). He never got that break he needed. He moved back in because our oldest child said he's be mad (he's 15) if he truly left and never tried to work it out with me. Since then, right before Thanksgiving, he keeps changing his mind. He wants to receonnect, he doesn't, he wants to try, he wants a divorce. He said about 2 weeks ago he wants to both give it all we have and try for a couple months because there's a lot at stake. Nine days later he says he's not feeling it and wants a divorce. I trust him completely and know there's not anyone else. I do not want the divorce and he knows this. I love him with all my heart. I know we were in a rut. It's the same thing day after day. Get the kids to school, we both work full time days, come home, dinner, homework, showers, watch some tv, bed. There was never any "us" time. I'm am dieing inside. He says he cares about me and loves me but isn't in love with me. He said he's still finds me very attractive and wants the best for me. He wants to file for divorce at tax time, sell the house, and then we move out into our own places. Part of me is still hopeful since that gives me a while to try to make things work. But I'm the only one trying. Now, I'm being told by a few friends to ignore him. It will be hard since we live together, but he stays in the downstairs living room anyway. He's been sleeping down there, too. The kids and I do go down there to watch movies and hang out with them. But I'm being told not to for a while and see what happens. I'm told not to text or call him while he's at work unless it has to do with the kids. Don't go out of my wa to talk with him. Answer him if he asks a question, but that's it. Let me give a little background information. We have 1 kid (2 years old) and I'm 8 months pregnant with our 2nd. I stay at home and he works anywhere between 30-35 hours a week usually, sometimes a bit more or less. If he has to be at work at 1, he will usually come out of his man cave around noon to shower and get ready maybe spend a few minutes with our kid and myself, then leaves. Our daughter goes to bed before he gets home from work so that would be the only time he sees her. Today he didn't work until 5pm and maybe spent 10 minutes with her (woke up at noon, ate lunch, back in the man cave until 4:15...). He never works past 10 at night so it's not like he works super late into the night either, no reason he can't get up earlier. He is always watching tv or on the internet in there, and if I want to talk to him, I just have to go in there and then he usually seems annoyed. Our daughter bangs on the door with toys, and I let her in to play with him, but after 5 minutes he will tell her to go give the toy to mommy or throw it across the hallway so she goes out to get it, then closes the door. It makes me very sad. I don't know how to solve this problem. I feel like he is more of a room mate than a husband. He even sleeps in there, but that is kinda my fault because I kicked him out of bed since he snores like a bear and wakes me up constantly, being pregnant that is hard to deal with. And he is a very large person so he takes up most of the space in our bed so I can't get comfy. What can I do to help him come out of his cave???

We just married a few months ago. He bought a house a month before we married through VA loan. We are almost 40, and I believe we need life insurance on each other to cover house, cars, debts, ect.... I have enough on me to cover for my part and some. My husband told me that my name if not on the house so I have not financial bearing. If he dies, I can simply walk out the house and downgrade to a trailer, apartment, rent home, cheper home, whatever.... or I can sell his things to help pay the note... OUr house isn't new and very simple!! regardless, I think this is rude. you don't leave your widowed spouse with all that baggage. He makes plenty that he could afford a policy. I am asking him to cover most of the house, his vehicle, and personal debt... which he has a bunch from before our marriage. Am I being hard on him? He isn;t willing to share checking account or save together. He doesnt want me minding his finaces- none of my business is what he tells me pretty much.

My husband has been deleting certain text messages between him and a female coworker. He treats me the same as he did before. Our marriage is fine (it seems) and we spend time together and with our kids. I just don't want to jump to conclusions but I can't come up with any other reason besides cheating - maybe someone can give me another idea??

My husband has been friends with this married woman from same school. She seperated with her husband lately and they have 2 small kids. She and my husband have been talking about doing activities together that they are both interested in. Recently she asked my husband to go on a camp and hike, and my husband immediately invited me. However I somehow get the feeling that she wanted to go with HIM. When they talk about doing activities, they often talk about inviting other people too, but usually she only asks him first. She sounded fine with me joining in text message, and invited her husband and kids after that. Her husband said no and she can't bring the small kids to hard hike. Even though she does invite other people, it makes me so mad that she would love to go with my husband alone if nobody can join. What kind of a married woman ask to go on a camp and hike with another married man? I think she is very inconsiderate and does not respect me as his wife. My husband is very faithful and honest, and I know he won't cheat on me. He thinks I'm paranoid but tells me "We are friends, I'm NOT sexually attracted to her at all, she's fat and ugly and there's no way she can have sex with me. Plus, she's not attracted to me! If she tries to do something with me, I'll instantly cut her off", but there's no proof that she's not interested in him. I can't convince him that it's not normal for a married woman to ask another married man for camp and hike alone.. I think she totally accepts him IF he seduces her. I think she IS looking at him in that way. I decided to go camping and hiking with them to see who this woman is. I'm sure she won't try to seduce my husband in front of me but I somehow want to tell her that it's not ok for her to step into somebody's relationship like this. Since she hasn't taken any actual obvious action yet, I can't say anything aggresive. I could be totally wrong and rude which will ruin their real friendship. If that happens, my husband will be very disappinted with me and it will affect our marriage life badly because he believes that she is a good friend of his. So, what should I say to her to let her know that there is a boundary in a nice way? How can I make her realize that she's being insensitive? How and what would you talk to her? Acting strong and showing her we love each other will work? What would make her realize she's getting too close to my husband?

Several people on here will say it's not your husband that makes you feel insecure it's you and your head. Will I disagree...It's my husband. He checks out other women looks at celebrities that are hot online and even points them out to me in a way that makes it okay for him to look. I'm tired of it. What's even worse is he hides it from the computer which really makes me think that he is hiding other things from me. He is a big flirt, but do I think he'll cheat?...I really don't know at this point. This is not a question of how can I change him and what he does constantly to change because I know that will never happen. I want him to know that just because I am a stay at home mom, do laundry, clean etc he better know that he can loose me at anytime. I've even gone as far as flirting myself with his guy friends. Expecially one I think is totally hot to where before I felt really guilty for even having those thoughts. I think more married women need to do this for their relationships. Instead of bitching and whining like I have on here...do the opposite and do what your husband is doing. Also women...if your husband or bf checks out other women when you are with him. Try this: There was a girl who was okay looking and my husband was staring at her ***...so instead of getting mad I told him ya she may look hot to you but she also looks high maitence...trust me women like those won't do what I do for you in the sac and if you keep looking at her like that I won't be either! What do you think people...this is the only way I'm going to make me feel good about this because talking and trying to ignore his actions isn't working. What are your thoughts on this?

Should I feel worried? They've been friends for over four years and although I'm pretty jealous, I don't want to nag my husband and be the "bad" one who says that he can't go. He says that they are just friends, I'm just embarrassed and feel pretty left out of things.

i never really got over my ex boyfriend.we never even really broke up we were together since high shool but when i graduated i left i moved and never spoke i was kinda hurt by him so i left and wen i left i met my husband a yr later but i was still in love with my ex but i was hurt... and i basically married my husband to see if i can forget about him but it didnt i been with my husband for 7yrs now and i am still in love with my ex my husband is a good man..a great father to our daughter and he has always been a responsible man but i dont love him. i mean i love him but not the way a man and women should... i appreciate everything he has done for me but thats it.. i met up with my ex and he wants me back.. i dont feel happy with my husband even though i have evrything but im just not happy he is a great man but imjust not happy i am trying to get him legalized here in the u.s and i think i am planning to ask him for a divorce after... what should i do?

When my wife and I were dating we always decided that having a big family was the way to go. We wanted to have four children at least. Our first child was born four year ago next month and it was not easy. My wife was in bed for the majority of the day for the last four months of her pregnancy and she did not recover physically for nearly a year. There was nothing life threatening about it she is just a small women and pregnancy was tough. After the pregnancy, she said it was the worst experience of her life and that she never wanted to go through it again. I let her cool off a bit before I asked her if she was serious and to my dismay she replied adamantly and harshly. Make no mistake, she has been an amazing mom and treats our daughter well, but at the same time I want to have another child. But at the same time she has gotten really involved in her work and career instead of focusing on being a mom. She does not have a great career anyways, I make the vast majority of our income. I have prayed about it and I think we can manage more and maybe if this pregnancy goes well we can stick to our original plan. I confronted her with my feelings a month ago and she was much more calm this time but still was against the idea. She told me that she was happy with where we are and that she didn't want things to change. I told her that I was happy too but I wanted to share our family by growing it. She said she will think about it and not to ask her again until she was ready to talk about it. I have respected her wishes but it has been a month and I thought she had forgotten. To try to push her in the right direction I casually "forgot" to pick up her birth control pills from the supermarket while I was out and that sure did trigger her memory. She saw through this and told me I should stop being an "asshole" which is the first time my wife has EVER cussed at me. I wasn't going to force her to have a pregnancy she didn't want I just wanted her to think about it, I am not that sick but she treated me like she caught me poking holes in contraceptive devices or something. I have decided that I am going to wait for things to cool off and then talk to her again but I want to bring a spiritual standpoint. I am not really a christian, I just go to church because my wife likes it when I do and it keeps the family happy. I feel like if I can influence her faith then it will change her mind.

I've been married for a little over 1 year now. I love my husband very much and I know he loves me. But I feel that somewhere in the back of his mind that he blames me for everything that goes wrong in our life. Its a long story.. I will try to keep it short. To start out with I am a very nice, friendly, loyal person. I love doing things for my husband, i love communicating with him on all levels. He on the other hand seems to be on the quiet side sometimes. It really hurts my feelings when he says that I am annoying. I don't try to annoy him. It's things like I want a hug, or I ask too many questions, or I don't agree with him, etc.. Its hard to pinpoint every little thing that bothers him, but If he decides that i'm annoying him, it seems like i have a difficult time trying to change his mind. The one thing that bothers me is, my husband being unhappy with me. I worry and start to the think the worst. Rarely do I criticize him. Even when we're driving and I'm in the drivers seat, he tells me when to switch lanes, and if i don't turn my blinker on etc. etc. It drives me CRAZY! But if its not what he would do then he gets irritated. About communication, he must think I am a mind reader sometimes, because he will actually get upset at me for not assuming that I know what he's thinking. I could go on forever I feel. Can anyone out there offer any advice or direction? Please no sarcastic or rude replies. Thank you so much. :) Just one more thing... I wanted to say that I do pretty much everything for him. Yes he works, and I am a stay at home mom and take care of things in the home, but I literally do everything. Laundry, cook, clean, bring him dinner, get up and refill drink. blahhh! Some days its just too much! But I want to make him happy.

5 months ago my husband told me he wanted a divorce. He had been kind of seeing someone for the entire previous month. He kicked me and my daughter out 2 weeks later and moved in with his new girlfriend 2 months later. He has taken our daughter regularly for the most part, we came up with a schedule. We have not even filed for divorce or child support or anything yet. I want to keep my daughter away from him though until I know the last name of his girlfriend. I do not know this women, I've met her a handful of times and only know her first name. Her and my husband absolutely refuse to tell me her last name. I think I have a right to know the last name of the female my daughter lives with 3 days a week, I would like to run a background check. Do I have this right?

My husband and I have been together for 22 years, married for 20, and we have 3 kids and they are 20, 16 and 9. My husband is 44 and I'm 43.. Two weeks ago I found out that he was having an affair with a girl, she works at a pharmacy and she's like 28 years old. My older daughter knew about the affair but she never told me, she says that she didn't tell me because she didn't want us to get a divorce, she said that her dad told her that he was going to end the affair and she believed him but I feel betrayed by her, I mean she's my daughter and she knows how much I love her dad and for her to hide this from me is beyond betrayal..Her dad and I decided to split and try to to see if we can salvage our marriage, next week we're gonna start seeing a marriage counselor, he moved out of the house and is living in a second home we own and my daughter decided to go with him but at the same time she's saying that I'm being unreasonable and childish. She is my daughter, she knew her dad was cheating and never said a word but yes she doesn't want me to be angry at her and feel disappointed. She says she did the right thing. What do you guys think?

I m married for more that 7 years and we were in love the past 15 years. I can t tell I fully trust him coz he lie sometimes. These past few years he was fantasizing about having foursome with another marriage couple. I never thought that it would be a big problem so I never shut him while he was talking about it. We have a married couple friends that are so close to us the guy has the same fantasy so they both found their dream. They talked to us I mean me and his wife. His wife was agreed but I couldn t. They tried to convince me after a few bad fights I gave it a chance then we start doing it but no swapping. I was with my husband and they could be a big booster to our sexual feelings so i was fine with that intill last week we travelled together, the first night boys changed their places at first when I saw my husband having so much fun with her even more than he had with me I get jealous but I thought it is the first time and it will get fine after a few more times but it didn t 😢 I got even much more angry and hurt than the first time. The guy could never please me he had nothing like my hubby and he didn t smell like love but her wife had a very fantastic moment with my husband they both get wild and having so much fun. I was just starring and listening to them and nothing could distract me. That night we had a big fight and since the I cannot look at him like the same I think my marriage is ending.

He seems more concerned with how sex acts look than how they actually feel. I will sometimes catch him looking at his own reflection during this, and he'll angle my body so he himself perform in the mirror. At certain points he will back away and look at my body, panning up to it as if I was an actor in a porno..... it feels bizarre. When I top he will last under a minute to 2 minutes tops. But when he's in control? Sex doesn't even seem real.... It's almost like he's following a script? Sometimes I try to guide him, like "it feels better when you do this" and he'll do it, only because I said something -- but never on his own after that. Please what more can I do? I know sex isn't everything, but when the pleasure's always one-sided I can't help but feel unsatisfied... **"so he can watch himself perform"

He dosent call or txt he rarely text me back whn he does. I askd him if he wants a divorce in a txt msg and he never responded. Need answers..

I was rude; trashed talk people in his family 24/7, b1tchy, demanding, jealous, accused him, started fights and arguments for no reason, moody, raised my voice often, Called his family terrible terrible names.. He then left me and also did me wrong but I never blamed him, all I can do is blame myself, he caused me so much agony in the end and Still does, but k can't hate him because of the way I behaved How do I let this guilt stop consuming my soul,

I just got out of a four year relationship in December -I was so IN LOVE with my boyfriend, but dumped him since he didn't propose. I'm at a point in life where I'm finished with my masters, have my dream job and am 30. He is 37, engineer, extremely well established. I asked if, after 4 years, we could TOGETHER discuss some sort of timeline for a proposal. He couldn't so I had to end things -boy that genuinely was the hardest thing I've ever done! I never thought it'd happen so quickly, but a new guy came into my life and he's so sweet. He is the exact opposite of my ex. We've been dating a few months now and he immediately let me know he's looking to settle down and have a family. He's 33, PhD, engineer, and every time we get together, he says he can't help but hope things work out since he'd love to marry someone like me. He even has already said he loves me (my ex took 1.5 years before I had to flat ask him if he loved me). The new guy constantly says he doesn't want me to be creeped out since he knows he still has to get to know me better but that he loves what he sees so far and hopes we'll get engaged, perhaps by next summer if things are still going well. He enjoys talking about how he envisions a life with a family, wife, kids. It's so sweet. Or maybe I'm just so shocked to be with someone who doesn't appear to be commitment-phobic. At our ages 30/33, masters/PhD, both stable well paying jobs... would getting engaged by next summer be too soon? My initial thought is that getting engaged after 1 year is too soon, but at my age -30- I'd want to have a few years of married life living together and traveling before kids come along. He has also said if he met someone he fell in love with and had a good head on her shoulders -referring to me -it'd kill him to wait longer than a year to make things official since he really wants a wife and kids in the future.
