So about 6 weeks ago I got caught high. I told them everything and how many times I have done it, etc. and I was truthful. My parents are really old fashioned and come from strict families so they dont really understand that its a normal thing that freshman in high school do. They took my phone away and havent given it back since. Im never smoking weed again but my parents still dont seem like they trust me. They are worried that I'm gonna text those kids whom I was involved with that were doing these things, but I promised them I wouldnt, and I showed them how they can recieve my text messages on their phone. So I woke up this morning to no "Happy Birthday" texts or calls. And also, I walked sleepily into the living room expecting a couple of congrats from my family, only to be awarded with a weak "happy birthday kid" Then, i was expected to make breakfast for the entire family, on MY birthday. Usually I get an amazing homeade breakfast, complete with a few little gifts. And to top it all off, I burned the cinnamon rolls I made. Don't get me wrong, I'm not spoiled, but usually my parents make an effort to make their kids birthdays special. My little sister turned four last week and she got a bunch of presents, taken to lunch, and a fun party afterwards. Anyways, continuing with the story. I ate a burned cinnamon roll, while my parents complained as they munched theirs that it was gross. After that, this really mean girl from school asked me if I wanted to go swimming, which I didn't, because she's really rude. After I nicely declined, my parents looked at me in bewilderment and said that I was being a little b*tch??? Now I'm sitting in my room watching Netflix all alone, and one of my closest friends forgot my birthday. All of the others helped and cheered me up microscopically. I get to go to a bbq tonight with my family, but I'm not excited about it. I was originally, but now I'm just disappointed that today has been so miserable. I'm so sad and confused, why am I upset on my special day?

I just graduated high school a few days ago and I'm 18 and I'll be going to the community college so I'll be stuck living with my mom until I can transfer to a university. She's ALWAYS very depressed and sick. She yells at me ALOT to for no reason... she hasn't had a job in so long. My parents got divorced 10 years ago so we been living off child support and now she's going to stop getting it and she keeps saying we're gonna be homeless or have to buy a cheap crappy trailer. My auns bio sister was suppose to do my hair this week but things keep going on. She was trying to get stuff done yesterday and she was suppose to do it Friday but she got sick and plus it takes her a while to get on the bus to my house so she's on her way right now. My dad told me it's too late and when I told him she's going to be here at 1pm. My dad is planning to be at my uncle's house at 2 and going to lick me up. He told me, "Dana (me) you're relying on someone that's keeps blowing you off like that and never going to get it done. 1 is way too late and you're going to miss out on all the fun today. Just wear your hait short. I'm telling you, you look very good with an afro. But it's your hair. Do what you want." i told him that I told her about the cook out today and he told me, "What's the point of getting your hair done if you're never going to get it done? This is silly but, my mother and I had an argument over the usage of my laptop. She usually uses it anyway, mainly when I'm asleep. She says because of how I get. But today she was on it and we were watching a church live-stream. After it was over, she decided to go on to YouTube and listen to some songs. Which was fine, I was just waiting to use it afterwords. She then said that the song she was listening to was the last song. So I thought, "okay then I'll just use it next after this." But then she just kept listening to more songs. I was kind of annoyed but she asked if it was fine, I uncomfortably said sure(I didn't really want to but I'm shy and I knew that saying 'no' would start something). But then after a while, I guess because of my tone, she said that I had and attitude. She said that I was being selfish and that because she is my mother, and because she makes sacrifices for me, that I should let her do something as simple as watch YouTube videos. I said that I don't mind her watching videos, but when you said that that song was the last one, then it should've been the last one. She kept saying that the number of videos she watched should't matter, even if that it was the last one.She said that I could just use my phone for whatever it is that I wanted to do. I was crying during all this, then she was threatening not to take me anywhere and said that I'm even selfish with myself because I don't even spend money on myself. Am I selfish? Please answer.

Right now it is her brother's wife. A few years ago it was her step-mother. A few years before that it was her sister. A few years before that it was my step-father's mother. So what is behind my mother always having about every 3rd year, a person she dumps on and won't forgive for something trivial? It has been three years since her and her brother's wife began feuding so I am scared wondering who is next as she even said hi to her brother's wife last weekend so maybe that is passing and it is time for someone new. She dumps on my Dad and anyone associated with him daily and has since they divorced when I was 4 so it is not that she doesn't have someone to dump on, she has him. I know it is parental alienation to withhold a kid from their father like mothers occasionally do as well as to talk bad about the father like mothers usually do. Even some fathers, though rare, probably have done this. However, what about a step-parent? Can a mother say "my kids are not allowed to see their step-mother"? Or vice versus for a step-father. This is not counting cases of serious abuse. I was just curious after a conversation I had with someone and knowing how bitter my mother likely would be if divorced and sharing with a step-parent (my parents are married so it is not an issue).

I know this happened a while ago, but when I was four years old, my mom was mopping the kitchen floor and I was running around the house, so she told me to stop running, but I didn't and I fell on the floor face down and knocked out my two front teeth. Instead of my mom asking me if I was ok, she beat me for running in the kitchen. I'm now 17, and looking back at my child, I don't think I had a good mother. I don't know where he goes but they never let me talk to my son when he's with them. I personally think if his dad is not there for multiple days I should have my son. It is my child. Idk what to do. I feel like I can't handle how badly I hate my brother, like once I get going i can't stop thinking about how much I hate him. He is 18 and is an inconsiderate, selfish person - but he is really only mean to me. He also thinks he's always right and thinks he's good at arguing when in reality he sounds dumb all the time. He sits on the couch and plays video games in all his free time, takes 1 hour showers sometimes twice a day hogging our bathroom, sleeps on the couch so nobody else can use the living room, hogs the computer and electronics, unplugs lamps and things so he can plug in his charger, is really lazy and never gets stuff done. He once saved a super long paper until the night before when I had a two-paragraph, almost complete thing I needed to do and he made me stay up until 2 am because we only have one computer. When he came down and told me he needed the computer at 8pm, I gave it to him right away, but when I asked how long he thought he had left at 12am he literally shrugged and refused to speak or aknowledge me. He treats me literally like ****. I just went into his room to ask him to stop playing guitar because it woke me up (it's 1am) and he literally ignored me, stared at me and waited for me to go away so he could keep playing. Now I guess I'm just tired and angry and I think I'm going to cry he's just mean and I'm afraid he won't move out. What should I do?? How can I manage this? My mom doesn't care at all. So I made a bad judgement call and decided to eat an edible that one of my friends had made and drove home. Trying to avoid getting in trouble with my dad, I put eyedrops in my eyes. I got home, and he could tell right away that I was high and he's not happy at all. He's told me not to drive while high once before and because of what I did, I no longer have a car now, so I don't know how I'm going to get to work. I'm also being forced to look for a new place after I graduate from highschool in a couple of weeks, and I don't know what the hell to do now. Plus, I have another couple of edibles in the center console of my car that my dad doesn't know about amd I can't go get them because he took my car keys. I'm speaking from India. Currently my grandfather is 90 years old. But his hygiene is surprisingly good for his age. When he was young he use to beat my grandmother. He had many mistresses outside marriage. He had 3-4 decades long habit of gambling. Once he created a debt of 10 Lac Indian rupees viz. equal to $14917.93 in gambling, all of money which my parents had to repay! But the real tragedy for me and my family is his tyrannical nature. He won't let my father freely go out where my father pleases. Whenever my father stays late outside my grandfather would start shouting, swearing and throwing abuses!!! As a result, even today my entire family (me, my mom and my father) are frightened from my grandfather. On Saturdays and Sundays, every normal family enjoys their entire day outside. But in our home, we get bored, depressed and feel isolated. My heart cringes whenever I hear my relatives talk about how much they enjoy travelling OR going outside.

Hey, 21 female here; I'll try not to get too long-winded. My dad's side of the family likes to have these cookout parties. Now that is all fine and good, I don't mind seeing them once in a while. The problem is that after a certain time, they ALL start drinking and getting really loud and boisterous and it makes me uncomfortable, especially since my dad had an alcohol problem when I was younger. When I was a kid I was pretty much forced to stay after that but now that I'm an adult with my own transportation I think I have the right to leave when I want to. Well according to my family that's not the case. They guilt trip me when I don't want to go period, or if I want to leave before the drinks get passed around. I always get sucked into it and I always end up feeling miserable. I now associate these gatherings with discomfort and I honestly don't want to go to them anymore. I don't know how to explain this to my mom and my sister without them thinking that I hate my family, because I don't. What I hate is being trapped in a house full of drunk people, and my family acting as though that's the only way that we can ever get together. I feel as though my desire to please my family is being taken advantage of. I do kind of see their point: for years I was in a tough spot emotionally and I barely got out of the house, I'm just starting to break out of it now. I want to get out, but with new people and situations that I actually look forward to. How can I help them see that?

My mother is extremely hypocritical and unfair. She claims that she's a follower of Jesus Christ, but yet she curses me out in church, threatens to hurt people, has a bad temper (but won't admit), is stubborn as a mule, and just mean. I'm 17 (junior in high school) and I need to get my car fixed, but my mom needed gas money and money to get her medicine. So I gave her some of my money and she promised to pay me back, but she got mad at me and won't pay me back. To me, that's unfair, because I didn't have to give her the money. Plus, she's old and I'm the one driving her around. So I need to get my car fixed but she won't pay me. A number of people tell me that they feel sorry for me because I live with my mother. But my mom tells me that if I disobey her, that nothing good will happen to me. But how am I supposed to be obedient when she treats me (and others) like this? And yesterday, she punched me in the face because I didn't look at something she told me to look at. But the people at church think she's a blessed holy lady and that I'm the bad child. I don't know what to do.

My mom toad me to take my sister out for 30 minutes so she could bath my baby sisters in peace. Well I took my sister to the duck pond. Then it was time to leave but she wouldn't leave. She refused to leave the ducks. I tried to carry her but she was kicking me and stuff. So I just left her and went home. I mean I have better things to do. Then I got home and my mom went crazy cuz I didn't have my sister with me. She sent me back to the pond to get my sister but my sister wasn't there. So I went back home and toad her she wasn't there. She literally chase me out of the house and said I better look harder. I didn't wanna walk all the way back there so I just sat in the yard with my dogs. Then my dad came home and was being all nice to me cuz he didn't know yet what happened. He went in the house and then came back out and attacked me. He really did. He was yelling at me like a psycho, I don't think I ever seen him so mad. He was almost choking me and then my mom come out and was all like "stop it wahhhh wahhh." She was the one who toad him in the first place. Then when my dad got back in his car, she toad me to go hide in my room. Why should I? I dunno where him or my sister are right now but I'm so annoyed. She should of came home with me when I said. So I got choked and my face grabbed which still hurts all cuz of my mom and sister. This is not fair at all. My dad should be mad at them not me. I didn't do anything I want him arrested I can't say he sexually harassed me. They mite take my sisters away. I've tried to get him trouble for that before. but only realized recently, what could happen to my sisters. My mom would never talk to me again What animal abuse fantasies? My sisters husband Joe works at the same place I do. He was getting behind on a project he was working on and he ask me to help him. I said sure and I worked with him during my lunch and sometimes after work. He was afraid he would loose his job if he did not get his project done on time. It was a struggle but we got the project completed on time. I got an email from my sister that said "I hope you remember all the help Joe gave you at work and all the time he spent with you so you could keep your job". My first reaction was that I should take that email to Joe and tell him to tell my sister the truth about who helped who. However on more thought I didn't do that. I thought why start a family fight when it can be avoided. If Joe wants to keep the truth from his wife, I will not interfere. My exwife and I are still on friendly terms although I had not heard from her in over a year as she had remarried. She called me one morning to ask me to take her to work because her car would not start and her husband was out of town and she had a VERY IMPORTANT meeting she had to attend in just a few minutes. I told her sure and I picked her up at her house and drove her to work. About a week later I got an email from her husband telling me he was not happy that I took his wife on a date. to the point where it bled. Most of the time its over his video game. Because of this game he does not help around the house, doesnt clean his room, doesnt socialize with the rest of the family. I am an adult and all through my childhood my mother wouldn't let me see anyone she was mad at in the family. So relationships were rocky. I got into more steady family relationships when I was a teenager. However, even now as an adult I am disadvantaged by my mother's bitterness sometimes like not getting an invitation because someone assumes I am with my mother (on holidays). Also having to hear gossip from my mother. My mother can be very loving and she did devote herself to her kids when I was growing up. That is the good side. She never let anyone hurt us. However, her downside is this narcissistic belief she has that "my enemy has to be your enemy".When my grandmother died last year my mother made it all about "herself" and it wasn't even my mother's Mom (it was her mother-in-law). She never even gave me condolences and was mad she didn't get thanked by the other relatives for her help at funeral arrangements (death was sudden). So how can I get closer to my mother without my mother's narcissistic side hurting me? How do I respond to the secret rule "my enemy has to be your enemy"? My mother is not a bad person but in family she can be narcissistic sometimes though she is not anywhere else.

Question: My parents get sarcastic and irritated when I am nervous about stuff. Why might they be so insensitive?

My mother always question if I have armpit hair like every week or hair in my private area and she gets so excited about it. She ask me all the time but I don't show her. And she gets mad. I'm an 18 year old male. I will be moving about an hour away to go to college, in about two months. I enjoy spending time with my friends and girlfriend. Just going out and enjoying myself, doing fun things. In the past few weeks, my mother has been getting more and more agitated with me. She says that I never want to spend time with my family, and that I never want to be home. I do love spending time with my friends. And I am excited to move. But I think this is a natural part of life. Growing up and moving on, and having your own experiences. My brother is three years older, and he never moved out, and spends all his time at home. He agrees with my mom, and says I should be spending all my time at home since I will be moving. I think he is the one who is different for not wanting to do things with friends, but that's what she is accustomed to. My question is, how do I deal with this? How am I able to convince my family that this "moving on" is normal? Or am I wrong?

I cannot reason with her, she's always screaming at me whenever I try to talk. I'm a fairly good kid: I get good grades, keep my room clean, go a prestigious performing arts high school, and for a teenager, I don't do the stupid things that almost half that school does, such as smoking and drugs, etc. But shes always mad at me about something, saying that she feels like my, quote, "slave" and that I don't help her with anything, yet I want everything from her. She once told me that I make her life miserable and she constantly tells my autistic brother that he "has no brain" and is "stupid just like his father" She's literally screaming at me as I type this, I don't even know why, just because I asked for a new pair of shoes. It really bothers me cause she's always complaining about stuff that she doesn't realize is just the job of being a mother. (such as cleaning the house and working to earn money, just to end up spending it on us). Shes told my brother and I that she's gonna pack her bags, move back to Poland, and leave us here with no one cause she cannot deal with us anymore (pretty sure she was joking but ??) It really makes me so depressed and I even considered killing myself one time, just because she wouldn't even care. (although I realize how stupid that was now) Also, I have trichotillomania (anxiety disorder that causes you to pull out ur hair) and every time she sees me pulling out my hair, she yells. I am 25 years old and I live at home. I work and pay bills also I assist with the buying of food for the household. My mother recently found out that I started having sex (with my boyfriend who was my first i.e. 1 guy) and she flipped out. She started telling me that I lost my value and no one would want to marry me and I am desperate for a man. About a year ago she opened up to me and told me that she can't have sex with my dad because he said he does not feel for it at all. My husband drinks every weekend starting from Friday till Sunday evening. He expects me to do everything for him while he is drinking and lazing watching movies. I get very mad because I have a baby to take care of. And then the next day he will expect me to get water and food for him. He treats me like a servant. And in the night he disturbs me and my child with his noise because he wants to sleep in the same room as us. Daily my baby's sleep gets disturbed. I cannot sleep well. I get furious. And then when I tell him to go away and that he is disturbing baby he hits me in his drunkenness. He hits me a lot almost daily and threatens to kill me too if I don't listen to him. I hate my life and I hate that my baby was born in such a shitty house. I don't have enough money to move out and take care of my baby alone. I earn less and I have a loan to pay. So I continue staying despite all the abuse. When he is drunk in the night he makes a scene daily and daily neighbors can hear us fighting and yelling. I feel ashamed of him. He has been drinking for 10 years now. So I don't think he will quit so easily. I have lost faith in him. His mother too is a difficult person who refuses to hear anything against his son. And whenever I threaten him to tell his parents he tells me he will throw me out. Once I complained about his drinking to his mother he denied it in-front of his mother and she ended up thinking that I was lying. I am tired of him now and I feel like committing suicide.

My Parents divorced when I was 5 yrs old. My mom was violent towards my dad. I still remember a time when she poured the rest of her Corona beer out the window & used that bottle to hit my father in the head. Those memories haunted me as a child. Looking into my dads eyes brought me pain. Immediately after I saw her start a new relationship.I was a bit upset &sad growing up but no one ever acknowledged my feelings. It was a battle between my real dad and my stepdad. A couple of times they almost got physical. My mom would bash my dad & bash me if I ever wanted to see or tried to stick up for him. I became detached from my dad. I would see my dad at the store he used to work in. when I was 12 years old my stepdad got into legal trouble and decided he wanted to move. I asked my mom if I could stay with my dad, she said no. I told her I would hurt myself & she still said no. I was so broken. I was leaving my dad, friends, family, everything. After that I wasn't the same. I became very antisocial and was depressed. I had been depressed as a child for quite a few years. I'm 24 years old and feel as if I don't have a connection with any of my family members. My mother now lives in another country with my stepdad. My stepdad was great. He raised us. But didn't have the dad and daughter connection with him or my dad. I would get anxiety attacks but wouldn't know what I was having. Now that I'm older I wonder why am I not like the rest of my friends.

So basically my mother is ******* insane. she's told me she shouldve aborted me about 10 times already. I'm in the top 3 of all my classes at school and try to be responsible at home ( i'm just forgetful of stuff) Today i did everything my mother asked, but i forgot to vaccum under the kitchen table and to move the big billow in the carpet to vaccum under it. As a result, i got yelled at and abused as usual, then she stqarted hitting me with a stick. I lost it and broke the stick into pieces and said i wish she were dead. I went to ask for my phone in her room so she kneed me in the nuts really hard so I pushed the door and accidentally broke it. She wants me to pay for the door, but I don't have a job. I'm in my last few months of school and i don't really have time for one right now, even though i've applied to all the places around my home. I'm thinking of going back to brazil and canceling my entire school year just because i think my mother will end up ******* me up completely. What should I do?

Hey guys. I'm an 18 year old boy and I have a problem with my parents' alcoholism. My parents did not have any problems with alcohol before but within the past year they've really turned into alcoholics. They get drunk constantly and fight and I've had enough of it. I have 2 twin brothers, 5 years of age and my parents take neither me or them into consideration before getting drunk. My mom is 41 (it's actually her birthday today) and is a little above 100 Lbs cuz she's lost a lot of weight but she won't leave alcohol. She has severe problems with her bones and kidneys and I've tried telling her to get herself together because she has 2 little children that she has to stay strong for. I've forgiven them both, especially my mom multiple times but I just cant do it anymore. Last night was the last straw because dad came home at 7 am without mom and then i went out looking for her and she was lying on the bench right outside our house with her phone on the ground and her purse on the other side. I'm really tired of this and I can't endure any of it anymore. I don't know what to do. They completely forget that what they do is hurting me and my brothers. I've tried talking but they didnt stop and at this point I'm lost and severely depressed and suicidal. I have my own worries, this is just too much for me. I can't handle it anymore.....
