Do families cover up the truth to make it easier for others to deal with? My cousin died on his dead fathers birthday.. I m thinking he committed suicide by drugs, or drugs just killed him. My aunt made a point to state in front of all the visitors that she isn t sure how he died and toxicology reports won t come in for 90 days.. wtf? I went to the funeral and paid my respects but I think i deserve the truth considering I was put in his obituary as being a close family member.

I'm an adult. Dad only loves my sister, he thinks i'm stupid, he doesn't care about anything that has to do with me. Sister lives with me and parents, doesn't speak and is inconsiderate. Dad doesn't talk to me, but talks to my sister. Nothing i do is good enough, i just keep to myself.

They do what they have to - feed us, shelter us But when it comes to acutally raising us up, in terms of influences, general parenting, etc. Theyve done a terrible job. Im 15 years old and the forth of five siblings. Growing up we were told to get good grades. We were sent to tutoring centers and were given disapproving coments if we scored lower. No source of encouragement whatsoever to try harder anytime. I still get tutored. I find they parent with only two things in mind- religion and reputation. Instances have happened in the past where an aunt claims she doesnt approve of certain behaviour, and my parents automatically agree with whatever she says, and restrict us to do something based solely on her commentary- despite having permitted this behaviour previously. For example, my 18 year old sister and l are no longer allowed to roam shopping centers alone, because my aunt doesn't doesn't approve of this behaviour. This doesnt just apply to aunts - practically anyone my parents are related to. It frustrates me that we shouldn't have to reach everyones expectations and standards, but my parents think otherwise. There are a tonne more reasons but the word count doesn't let me expand. I feel guilty for not liking my parents because everyonebelse does. My parents are asian, and I was raised in Australia. I get so jealous of my friends' parents.

Me and my cousin attempted Kevin Owens' Pop Up Powerbomb. We're both 19 btw and we know WWE discourages us from trying these things at home but oh well. So, I used to have an Instagram account a long time ago, but then one of my friends swore on it and my mom got mad at me for some reason and forced me to delete it. I secretly kept my Instagram account for a few months after, but my brother found out about it, so I deleted it. It's gone. He demanded a PS4 from me, which, as you probably know,miss a LOT of money. Money I don't have. He demanded it by one month from now. Firstly, I don't know if my parents will let me buy it. Secondly, I don't have money and it'll take a long time for me to get money. I'm very young, so I can't even have a babysitting job or anything, all of my money is birthapday/chores/Christmas money. So I am 15 years old and I am an aspiring filmmaker. I have shot my own short films, i get hired to make music videos, shoot weddings, etc. My dad's cousins daughter is going to have her Bat-Mitzvah in about 2 months and they asked me if I could shoot it. I said "sure I could" thinking that I was going to be payed. A week before the bat Mitzvah, I asked them how much they would pay me, and i find out that they wanted me to do it for free. I take my line of work seriously, Im not a goddamn charity. Therefore I told him I wouldn't do it for free, an argument broke out, and now Part of my family thinks I'm an asshole, simply because I refuse to take part in unpaid labour, and they can't find another videographer. My parents are even criticizing me for being "unreasonable, and uncharitable". Now I'm refusing to speak to that part of the family (with the exception of my parents) Would you take my side on this?

Dad thinks i'm stupid, he only cares about my sister. Dad hates me, and doesn't care about things that has to do with me. Sister live at home with me and parents, and is rude and doesn't speak. My mom is in acoma so I'm left with my dad who is Insain really no joke, my brother who's 23 and my sister who doesn't love with us she's 25. My parents hate me and then make it obvious. They favor my little brother over me. One example, if I do not finish a meal, my parents have a file on their phones of pictures of that and then charge me for the food, whereas if my brother doesn't finish his food, my parents blame it on me. Also, my brother drew all over my dad's chair at the dinner table with a marker but my dad blamed it on me. He enjoys to blame everything on me and just make fun of me in general because I told one joke about him 3 years ago to my mom. I was at a major league baseball game with my sister and my five year old nephew, T-Bone. (his name is tyrone but we call him T-Bone). My sister left to go to the bathroom, and I was busy playing on my phone, just scrolling through Facebook and stuff, not paying attention to T-Bone. But here's the worst part: T-Bone had gone into my carry-on bag, fished out a TAMPON, and started sucking on it - claiming he thought it was a pixie stick. AND THE ENTIRE STADIUM SAW THIS!!! I didn't say anything to my sister until I got an angry call from her the next day, saying she heard about it at work. I'm absolutely humiliated and I feel horrible. How do I fix my relationship with my sister??

I hate my family. My parents always want me to get all 100's at school and are disappointed is I get a 90. They always yell at me for things that are very small. They always complain about me and I can't help but talk back. Then they yell at me some more and make my cry. They also call me weak. I barley get to go out with my friends anymore since they don't let me do that anymore. If I go in. The kitchen with them they start screaming at me. Even if I ask a small favor like to buy cheese from somewhere they still yell at me and say no. I always have to clean after my two younger sisters. They spoil them but hate me. We're both 17, twins. My brother overall fails at life. He gets C's and D's in regular classes. He doesn't do sports. He plays video games all the time. He told our parents that he's depressed, and he's on meds, but even when I try to help him with ****, he fails. He blames me for failing. He says I'm not encouraging him enough, and told our parents that I told him not to use his planner. My parents are constantly yelling at me for not helping him. It's not like he's special needs. I got into Boston College, and am attending next fall :). Then, my brother, with a 2.3 gpa, tried applying to Stanford. My parents were really excited about it and kept telling him how smart he was. He didn't get in, lol. It was the only college he applied to. He's in this weird state of shock right now. I kept telling my parents, "He's not going to get in. You need to sign him up for Ivy Tech, or Southern Illinois University," and they got extremely mad at me, and said I was hurting his dreams. So as of right now, my brother isn't going anywhere. Sometimes my parents got mad at him because he failed at life so badly, but he'd always get really upset and say he was trying his best even when he wasn't doing anything, then he'd blame me, and everyone would get mad at me for breathing.

I have been dancing since I was 2. I started on the high schools dance team in eighth grade, and I'm now in tenth. This year we got a brand new coaching staff. At the start I was very open to the idea but sadley the head coach ruined it herself. I hate practice, I feel like crap after, our team is falling apart and I'm way too stressed out! Not to mention my grades are falling and I have about 2 hours to do homework before I go to bed... I am not happy and I want nothing to do with the dance team plus I need to raise my grades really quick. My mom expects so much from me plus great grades but I can't do it. I never have time for anything except dance and late nights of homework. I've missed going out and family dinners on a weekly basis to do homework! My mom won't let me drop dance team no matter how bad I want to. I've tried everything and she just says no. I try to stay positive about dance but I'm not happy

My step parents were awful so I have no role model. I'm playing this by ear. Met his kids 6 months ago.I cook and play games but I am not sure if I can also be an effective authority figure and i get scared they wont listen to me (and get run over or not eat their vegtables) so I try and leave it to him to tell them what to do. But I need them to listen to me for them to be safe though. I never mention their mom and we are both trying to stay on speaking terms with her. I hate that my parents love the other's children. I have a half sister that I don't feel any love towards her. I can't love her (I can't hate her btw). My Dad also has a Godchild, I truly hate him. I'm 23, In a very loving relationship with my bf who is the same age as I. We've been together a year an we want to keep the baby of course absolutely no question!.. I just told my family. They were taken back a little as I'm not married yet. But they love me and they will love my baby. So the joy of a new family member a little gift from above <3 they are happy. My dad walked out on my mom when I was seven. Now I'm starting to think that he wasn't my real dad after all (I hope he isn't.) First off, I think i's impossible for me to be blonde if both of my parents are brown haired. And I think my mom probably cheated on my "dad" before I was born but forgot about it later on. (she's had memory problems from a car crash.) I want to confront my mom about this but I doubt that she'll tell me the truth. But still, I don't look anything like my dad so I highly doubt he is my father.

She has been married 15 months today her husband is disabled and she has an 22 year old special needs daughter. Her husband s oldest sister was his and mom s POA she is nerving as hell their main problem well her niece is helping her friend with her bills and set them on a budget, they both know sister in law is using his money. I see him once a month but New Years Day and the Sunday of Thanksgiving Weekend are all I get. I never get to do Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc... with him. The only exception is she usually, not always, allows us to do Father's Day with him (she did not this year due to her schedule).

My parents make me cry Atleast once a week. Every Saturday my parents make me go to my brothers football game and it takes up the entire day. I lost my Halloween because of this game. I can honestly say I don't love my parents, I think they're terrible people. If I ever try to express my emotions to them they beat me or threaten to. My parents make me feel worthless. My older brother is absolute trash and has a terrible life and I feel that is because of our parents abuse. My other brother has a pretty good life because my parents loved him because he is really good at a football. When I'm home I never attempt speak to my parents or even leave my room. I've never felt attached to my parents like a normal child would. I even hate calling them mom and dad. I can't recall anything nice or positive they've ever said to me. I'm currently 16 and I've only enjoyed being 15 out of all the teenage ages I was so far. When I was 13 and 14, I had already gone through most things people say happens at those ages and there were a bunch of ridiculous stereotypes I didn't fall under. Now at 16 everyone expects me to start driving which I REALLY don't want to do, and I'm getting closer to adulthood which makes me sad. I liked being 15 because it was in the middle and there were no milestones so nobody really expected anything from me.

I have a 15 year old son and a 7 year old daughter, when ever she is mad at him she walks up to him and hits him, but after she does that, my son does the same thing back to her but harder. She shouldn't be hitting him but he is alot older than her, I tried to convince him that if she hits him that i will take care of it ,but he still hits back.

I was on holiday with my parents having a horrible time because I was left on my own most of the time and I couldn t make friends because everyone else around my age in the hotel was French. I changed my flight home after I couldn t stand staying there any longer. After a night of drinking my parents came home and I told them that I had changed my flight. I m 16 and I m pretty sure my mom wishes I wasn t alive. She always picks on me and points out my flaws. I have 4 sisters and she seems to praise every single one of them (even one who steals from her). I don't really have a life. When I get home from school, the first thing I do is get on my computer. How do I get away from it? The thing is, I get bored REALLY easily and I can't go more than a few hours without my computer. I'll ask my parents to take me somewhere (I can't drive yet) but they're always too busy. I'll try drawing, painting, reading, going outside, but I always find myself back on the computer. I want to find ways to spend days or maybe even weeks away from my laptop. Any advice?

I'm a single mother, and she's an only child. I've always given her many gifts and so, and she acts nicely. But, I had bought her a MacBook for school and personal use. She's on it all the time! So my girlfriend stayed at my house last night (in a separate room) cuz we went to a Halloween party last night near my house and her mom couldn't pick her up after. So this morning and afternoon we watched some scary movies. And we was having fun, but then my dad came home from work cuz he been working overnight. And he ruined my time with my girlfriend. So I toad him to just leave already and he said I'm lucky my little girlfriend is here. See how he talked to me in front of her? So I just left the room before I said anything else. cuz he might of said some embarrassing threats if he got mad. So I was upstairs while he was sat with MY girlfriend. I herd them talking about school and where she live and her brothers and sisters. It's not fair. And when my girlfriend left, I went to speak to my dad before he went to bed. he blamed it all on me. Saying I was the one with the attitude problem and I wouldn't of been embarrassed if id just been civil with him. he said that all he wanted to do was sit on his couch for 10 minutes after working overnight for 14 hours to pay for the electricity to run the TV I was watching my movies on. That's such bs, hes unbelievable. Can I get him arrested for BS? He didn't work 14 hours to pay bills. He acting like we live on the breadline. He worked 14 hours cuz his bosses needed him to work it cuz something happened presumably. And when I was talking to him he acted like some martyr, saying I should be thankful he was so restrained when I toad him to fck off. And then said he was proud of me for leaving the room and not blowing up like he thought I was gonna, cuz he didn't want to have to embarrass me in front of her. hi, my family always make jokes that i go along with at first but then after a while they arent funny and they do it all the time and i am so sick of it. i always tell them to stop but they shout at me saying that i have no sense of humour. they did it today and i flipped out and said that id had enough of it. i came down later to say that all i wanted for them was to stop. my dad then tells me to p*** off and go away he then comes to my room and starts screaming in my face i dont get it, can someone please help i feel rubbish and no one listens to how i feel

2 years ago, out of the blue, she set me up with my ex, her dad, for an *** kicking. Not a date, an *** kicking. It turned out horrible and she instantly regretted it. I have no desire to rekindle a relationship with her and some days I feel disgustingly guilty that I feel this way. She is not an only child and her once close sister has cut all ties with her for other reasons. Any thoughts?

I've always looked for my Mothers approval and it took me a long time to realize that she isn't God (not everything she says is right). She does a lot for me, supports me financially (providing food, clothes, paying for my activities, she spoils me financially), drives me places, & makes sure everything in my life is how it should be. However, while she tells me I can tell her anything she can be v critical & offers strong opinions on sensitive topics. For example, I'm very into health & fitness & my mom always complains that my health food is a waste of effort. I also got into a plant-based diet for some time & she said it was stupid;humans were made to eat animals. All in all, she bought more vegetables but she constantly reminded me of how stupid what I was doing was. Another example is that I've been dating my best friend for a few months now and she constantly tells me how if i have "any type of sex" I have no respect for myself. When I tell her a woman can do whatever she wants sexually and that I don't care what anyone thinks she tells me I should care what she thinks bc she'll think of me as a slut. It really makes me feel awful. This is the case with a lot of things. She always complains that I don't appreciate her and that I'm ungrateful but I do appreciate the things she does for me. She supports me where it really matters but I have to be honest with her and tell her she makes me feel judged and uncomfortable. Am I an ungrateful daughter? What do I do?

Over the past two years I have decided that I do not agree with the Catholic faith that my parents believe in. Because of this I am not allowed to live in my parents house, contact them, visit them, or talk to my siblings. My parents are not supporting me though college and if my boyfriend didnt let me move in with hm, I would have no where to go. What should I do to get over them rejecting me? I feel so sad all the time and like no one understands. I went to a therapist, but I am afraid to tell them the real situation as I am worried that even though i am in college it will be considered abuse and they will report my parents which I do not want. I do not consider this abuse as I am an adult and this is my own decision. thanks for any advice

So when I first got my phone, my parents never took it away. I used it for an alarm, and I never stayed up late texting one of my friends or playing on my phone, because I wanted to show them that I wasn't going against their rules and staying up late on my phone. I wanted them to trust me. Then about two weeks later, my dad says that I have to put my phone in his room every night at 8 PM before I go to bed, so I can no longer have my phone in my room. I was very confused because I did nothing wrong, I never disobeyed their rules about my phone. So I asked my dad why he was taking away my phone and he said, "I don't have to give you a reason." I was so mad, because I didn't do anything that deserved my phone to be taken away. Then it gets worse. He took it away one day on the weekend because he said that I didn't need it, I wasn't going to school, so I didn't need to take it. I said that I did need it to chill, talk with my friends, listen to music, etc. Then he says that I don't need it. That made me so mad, because the whole point of him buying my phone was for me to communicate with him and my friends, and to listen to music, etc. I don't know why he's being so strict all of a sudden about my phone. I want to get my phone back, I want to be able to keep it in my room, and I want him to stop taking it away for no reason. What should I do? Help please!!

well my dad is not like a really good dad even though hes a successful businessman,Im nt gnna tell you my backstory but this thing ishurting me for like a year and a half... in my mind,, im 20 and im the youngest of the family,and the thing is, my dad is like never cares about me, , he nvr gives me no pocket money to spend on, I always like selling things to get sme extracash.im like a savage sometimes,i travel on a bus,and my dad has a goddamn samsung,and he got these vehicles,and I remember times like he never dropped me in the school with one of his cars,I had to walk.i was so little back then I didnt undrstnd anything.like back in 2008 2009, really.and car keys usually left in the living room, smtimes I take the keys when hes asleep and drive around im a good driver, accident free history im hving.and we got a new roller now and,I once asked the key to the car and he was going to sleep after the lunch and he was like,thinking for a second and said ah I dnt think so you are going to mess it up again I dont wanna clean that again and i felt so embrrsed,and few times this happened.and some of my friends came over to see the new rolls royce and I asked for the keys just to check the sound system and he handed them over and I took it for a short ride and gave my gf a ride,and another thing.when we go out together, he takes thecar out the garage & would never stop the car near me. he would make me or anybody else walk up to the car.its like he is having a mental problem. why when my dad is driving,he would take a car out of the garage,and he wud make me or anybdy else walk up to the car,he would never stop near the person.I once stood far away from the car & waited til he stops.and even then,oh god.I dnt know. this thing is hurting me a lot. my moms and I talk about this thing sometimes.I knw you guys will help me with this. I feel really good about this.please.I hd to shrten the words because you know. there is a limit. so I had to get it right and my brother once asked for the car cause he needed to go to a wedding party and father agreed.I still wonder. hes married and has a kid, and know what? he was awaken all night. im not trying to point out that my dads a maniac I just need answers. he was like hurting himself . he couldnt sleep all night cause he didnt have the car keys with him. he and the roller is like a new couple. guy would never let another guy take his girl for a ride... like that...

I feel so pathetic writing this ,but I'm 20 years old. I moved down to Florida from New York in March to live with my dad ,I thought it would be good for me. So far I have nothing and no one. It's the same day everyday I'm home 24/7, the only time I go somewhere is to the store with my dad. I can't even get a job because of where he lives there's nothing around and all retires (yes it's that hard don't tell me it's not)😒( I have been trying to get accepted Into colleges tho). I argue with my dad on a daily basis,I'm constantly cleaning his house and he messes it up on me. There was even roaches over the summer but I GOT THEM OUT ! Last night I was cleaning the floor and he got mad so he put his DIRTY shoes back on and started walking around I got so mad I snapped. And he said I was trash cuz I said the word f*ck..... I'm literally feel like I'm breaking down slowly on a daily basis. I'm not even myself anymore. my dad doesn't care about anything or how I feel,my mom wants me back... But the other dilemma is I adopted 3 cats when I was here and I could only bring one with me to New York 😿 I would like to find them homes but I don't know anyone .

My parents divorced when I was 6 and my father would visit once a month. My mother told us she was the parent and to think of him as a relative but not our parent. She said he loves us but not like a father and chose not to be a father. All this hurt a lot to hear. I am now 26 and my father died last year and I am wondering if she is right and he never loved me like a father or if she was just saying this out of anger. How can I get closure on this?

I am 25 and live with my grandma I love her of course but she can be a ***** at times. I am working my way to go back to college and I help out around the house I buy things if needed and everytime I get paid its like the first thing she asks me is if I went to the bank so I can give her money and if I told her I can't give her everything or only half she makes smart remarks like hmm well what do you do with your money. None of my family helps me pay for school or my medical insurance bill or phone bill yet her and other family members come running to me when I get paid. My grandma has a lot of money like thousands in her bank account and she even sends her "boyfriend" money yet she always demands from me and with my cousin he makes it seem like he is flat broke yet I always see him buying things and get money from his dad. I'm the type that doesn't ask for help even if I truly need it yet the first one to help others that don't need as much as I do.
