Question: Courthouse wedding vs. Traditional wedding.? Posted: 29 Apr 2017 05:46 PM PDT I'm completely torn as to if me and my fiance should have a courthouse wedding or a traditional wedding. I know that the courthouse wedding would be so much more inexpensive and I would get to call him my husband so much sooner (It means the world to me that I'll get to carry his last name and honor him as my husband). On the other hand, I feel like a big wedding would be fun. Getting to dress up, have all of our friends and families, and get to partake in all of the traditional aspects of the wedding/reception (i.e, the bouquet, the dances, the cake, etc). Also, I know this is becoming a fond idea, but we do not wish to get married at the courthouse then have a reception. It's either simple courthouse wedding or traditional wedding. So my question is, to those of you who were married in the courthouse, do you regret it? Do you wish you would have done your day differently? And to the ones who went the traditional route, did you enjoy it? Was it worth it? If you could just put your insight into this question, I'd appreciate it. Thanks guys :) |

Question: Any tips on writing a wedding speech when you don't like the groom? Posted: 29 Apr 2017 04:49 PM PDT One of my best friends is getting married, and she has asked me and the other 3 bridesmaids to do speeches at her wedding. (yes, they have asked every member of the bridal party to do a speech) I'm happy to be there to support her, but the man she is marrying is a terrible person. This isn't just me being mean, he is truly a despicable human being, and everyone she knows , including her family, feels the same way. We are trying to just be supportive, but me and the other girls aren't sure about how to go about our speeches. Obviously we would never mention anything bad, but none of us have ever given a speech at a wedding and we weren't sure what to say. I was thinking of keeping it short and sweet, and just mentioning something like "so glad you two found someone to make you happy, etc..." Any tips from people who have heard or written a wedding speech? It would be greatly appreciated from some confused ladies, thanks! |

Question: Should we announce our engagement if his sister just announced hers? Posted: 29 Apr 2017 03:03 PM PDT Hi, I really need your HELP! So, please, I beg you take the time to read my dilemma and give me some input. First, some info: My boyfriend and I started dating in 2006. It's common knowledge his lucky/ favorite number is 4 (he even has it tattooed on his ribs), and on March 1, 2010 it was our 4 year anniversary. Two weeks ago on Valentine's Day, his sister (whom we are very close with) announced her boyfriend proposed. My boyfriend still went through with his planned 4 year anniversary proposal, but we agreed it would be rude to "steal her thunder," because we just had all the attention due to our pregnancy, and now newborn. She chose me to be her maid of honor and I've been helping her since her announcement. HOWEVER, she and her fiance have chosen a date 18 months away (!) and, we don't want to wait that long.... Our original plan was to keep our engagement a secret until after her wedding, then getting married like 6 months later, so she can have all the attention. But now, since she's chosen to get married in a year and a half, that means we'd have to wait 2 years... I know, who cares right? We'll be married right? It just feels like we have to wait forever, and though we don't want to be rude, it seems unfair. What do you think we should do? I appreciate all serious answers, and will be looking to give points to Best Answer. Thank you. |
Question: How do I keep gnats alive in a ring box? Posted: 29 Apr 2017 02:30 PM PDT Some background : My GF and I vacationed a while back in a nice hotel in San Jose, CA. It was the most romantic 3 and a half days ever and I wanna recreate it when I propose to her. Despite being a great vacay, during our stay, she always had gnats flying around her (no doubt aggrivated by the heat.) I kept teasing her playfully and she'd get angry. (For sure playfully on her end too.) It's our little inside joke. So, I wanna pop the question by presenting the ring and have gnats unfurl outta the box when she opens it. I want her to feel like I notice small details about her and remember our precious times, and that she'll have a totally unique and off-kilter engagement story. But the whole effect will be ruined if the gnats are suffocated and dead. How do I keep them trapped with the ring but alive for the big moment? |
Question: The groom's parents won't pay for the rehearsal dinner. What do I do now? Posted: 29 Apr 2017 02:08 PM PDT The groom's parents won't pay for the rehearsal dinner. What do I do now? My mom is paying for the whole wedding by herself and doesn't make that much money. The groom and I have no money for a rehearsal dinner. The groom's parents said they aren't paying for anything for our wedding. |

Question: Second wedding - bridal shower and bachelorette party? Posted: 29 Apr 2017 07:50 AM PDT One of my good friends just asked me to be MOH for her 2nd wedding. Her divorce was finalized just 15 months ago after less than 2 years of marriage. (married 2013). She met her now-fiance summer 2016, got engaged a month ago, and is now planning a wedding in june 2018. Her last husband openly cheated on her with tons of women after only 1 year of marriage and didn't want to fix things - but made HER file for divorce. It was messy. Anyway, I was not even AT her first wedding (out of town), but was a friend that helped her the most when s*** hit the fan with her ex. I love this girl, and she is wonderful. But almost ALL of her/our friends are shocked that she is getting married again SO fast - and in deeper discussion, are concerned she wants a traditional bridal shower and bachelorette party just like the ones 4 years ago. We are all young, starting out in our own marriages, starting families, buying homes - so I can see where several people are not keen on paying for extravagance a 2nd time around - myself included. Most of the internet SUPPORTS 2nd showers/parties, but I'm not so sure. She is from a wealthy family, so aside from having the conversation that "your bms cant afford this again", I don't know what to do. Also, I know many people will say "shower/party is not your responsibility" - but it is tradition in our area, so please don't tell me "it's not your job" - it IS our job where we're from. Just haven't been in charge of a 2nd bm party before - esp so young. I apologize if this wasn't clear. Is there an alternative? Suggestions for talking to the bride about this? Anyone have experience being in a 2nd wedding so soon after the bride's first? Any suggestions help. |

Question: What should I do about my fiance and his filthy habits? Posted: 28 Apr 2017 11:31 PM PDT I m about to blow my top!! When I met my fiance he was my knight in shining armor, now i m living with a disaster. He doesn t shower or brush his teeth for days and hardly ever uses deodorant. He doesn t shave or keep his hair in decent condition(full of dirt and lord knows what else).I m pretty anal about keeping my house clean and tidy, but he treats our home like a complete dump.I have to beg him to take out the trash and keep the yard in decent condition.I m about to have a nervous breakdown because this is becoming a bit much to deal with. What should I do? Sorry about the bad grammar. |
Question: Wedding Questionare!!!? Posted: 26 Apr 2017 05:34 PM PDT At what age did you get engaged? Married? What are (or were) you wedding colors? How many people were (are) in your wedding party? Did you (will you) have assigned seating? What flavor was you cake (or will be)? Where did you (will you) go for your honeymoon? What city did you (will you) get married in? I got engaged at 27 and married at 28. My wedding colors were magenta, poppy, and yellow. I had a small wedding, about 50 people. No assigned seating. I had a New York Cheesecake for my wedding cake. For our honeymoon we went to Savannah, Georgia. We got married in CT, and had an outdoor wedding. |
