I was extremely extroverted, and was friendly to everyone, I wasn't aggressive, I would let everyone borrow my things and knew how to share, but nobody wanted to be friends with me. I never understood why. Now that I am older, I am an introvert. In high school, everyone else always made it look so easy. Within the first two weeks, they would all be talking amongst themselves and would seem like they had known each other for ages, while I would be sitting there alone wondering how the hell everyone got so buddy-buddy with everyone. Do you approach people? How do you talk to them? I know the old trick of asking people what classes they have, or talking about a teacher to establish common grounds, but other than that, I HAVE NO CLUE. All the friends I have ever made, they all approached me first. And how do they keep those friends? With the friends I make, after a while they just stop talking to me. They don't put enough effort into the friendship as I do, and it always seems like I'm always initiating conversations. I always say hello first, and I'm always the one asking them to walk together to school, or hang out. I'm not obnoxious about it, I don't constantly ask them because I know people need their space, but damn it I try so hard to make and maintain friendships and they never work out. It's so frustrating while other make it look so easy. |

I feel like he try to ask question just to make himself look like a philosopher or some ****. Anyone have suggestion on what I should reply to him. I have been at this school for four years, and it's small, so everyone is really close. They are my second family. I love my classmates and teachers so much and I can't bear to leave everyone behind. I'm going to a public high school next year, where no one in my class is going except my twin brother. I'm really shy with new people, so it will most likely be very difficult for me the first few weeks. I keep telling myself that I'll act like how I do with my friends now, but as soon as I get to high school, I'll probably get scared and won't talk to anyone. That's how it normally goes for me. Plus, I'm going from a small private school where everyone knows each other to a fairly large public school. My brother knows a few people there because my dad is the assistant baseball coach and he sometimes goes to the practices and games. But I won't know anyone. I'm guessing I'll end up trailing my brother everywhere, so hopefully we'll have the same classes. Any advice? Thank you in advance! |

Before I knew he did that, I took a piece of gum from his backpack and put it in my mouth. He said he threw my gum on the floor, and that I owed him a dollar. I gave him a dollar. He said he would never forgive me unless I give him the newest PlayStation. He made me sign my name on his phone as a signature for giving him a new PlayStation. But a few months ago in November, he did the exact same thing but with candy. I The brought Halloween candy to school and he took a piece of candy. I didn't tell him he owed me and he didn't have to buy me a PlayStation. What should I do? |

I'm constantly driving to her place, but she'll never come out here. 2 weekends in a row she backed out of plans last minute, which is really frustrating to me because I work and go to school and have to change my whole schedule around, which always ends up being pointless. She always tells me she's "down for" whatever we're doing, and even suggested going to this thing with me tonight a few days ago. But today she tells me she didn't feel like driving "all the way out here" (acts like i live hours away or something) and instead suggested me going over to her place for a fire. I'm kind of bummed because I was looking forward to this, and now I'm staying in. I recently, at my request, moved to Mississippi to live with my dad and stepmom because my biological mom has drug problems and has been a very inconsistent mom (to say the least). I love her, but my dad and stepmom have always been there for me. and I needed stability. Before I made the decision to move here, my dad and stepmom warned me that they still believed in spanking as a last resort even at my age. I was kind of shocked, but really wanted to move in here, and (since I rarely get in any trouble) wasn't all that concerned. This morning I got in big trouble for something that I, in all fairness, deserved to be in trouble for. A major lie about where I'd been, & it was a 2nd offense. But I was still flabbergasted when dad had my stepmom take me out back and bust my behind. She didn't leave any bruises or "hurt" me or anything like that, but she did light me up something good and the pain was/is very intense. I'm just kind of shocked. I know that they love me, I'm NOT looking to turn them in or get them in any trouble (regardless of the answer to this question), but this is so far from my cultural norms that I have to ask, are they even legally allowed to do this? Is it fair at all? I just never really saw this happening at my age, and it all went down so suddenly.... Is this legal? Common? Fair? Typical? |

I grew up in NYC where taking the bus, train, walking and biking is standard. Now, I live in Buffalo which is the opposite. A lot of my friends drive cars especially the ones from the surrounding area, but I refrain from messaging them when I need help getting around because I don't want to appear needy. If I need to go to Target, I rather just use the transportation the university provides and carry it myself. When it comes to fun stuff and going out, I usually just wait to be invited. I have a pretty inclusive circle of friends, so I rarely feel left out. I just don't want to initiate anything because I always a bit down about not having a way to get there without relying on someone else. No one has ever made me feel this way, and I don't even think it matters to any of my friends that I don't drive, but it's just a social insecurity on my end. Is this way about me taking away from my college experience or anything in a way? |

It's one of my values to never say anything mean about someone to someone else; I consider that to be petty and playing dirty. Duke it out 1v1 as you see fit, but it's petty to try and drag other people into it. Well, that's exactly what this girl did. She went and said bad things about me to anyone who would listen to her and now several people whom I considered close friends are now shunning me because of what she's said. I don't know exactly what she said, but whatever it was, it was enough to get them to hate me. A boy forced me to perform oral sex on him in the men's bathroom, and my boyfriend reported it to the school without my knowledge. I was interviewed (I'm 17 and the boy that did it is 18.) and they told me that since I'm in the grey area of the law, and it's my word against his, they practically saw it as us just having sex in the bathroom. They said if I was 16, they wouldn't even have interviewed me, they would have just arrested him. But since I'm in the "grey area" my account has to be taken and weighed. They gave him immediate expulsion and they gave me 10 days of suspension with pending expulsion. (still needs to be reviewed by the superintendent) My peers have been spreading rumors about this, and are saying that I'm playing the victim card, and that I'm a slut. My friends are turning against me, and my parents don't believe me either. They wrote on my suspension form that I simply performed oral sex on another student. Everyone has been sympathizing with him because he was crying in the office and I was relatively calm. They think I'm lying because I didn't cry and that I just wanted attention. My question is, what can I do if they don't expel me? Is it better to argue with the rumors and correct them, lay low, or just go to another school all together? I've given up any hope at this point of my parents understanding and I feel so alone. I don't know what to do any longer. Please, help. |

I talked to my friend, and he said that she fully consented on those guys, and that he told her what the drink was, and she chose to drink it, he didn't force her. Cause why would you tell everyone, but not a cop or an adult, and why would you go back to the place you were assaulted? |

All of her friends are at least 3-5 years older or younger than her. She was diagnosed with Asperger's and finds it easier to communicate with other age groups. She has been like this since she was in elementary school. I get that she doesn't have much in common with other kids her age. My daughter is doing fine with her schoolwork, and she's a pretty good kid. I'm worried that her older friends may introduce her to certain things she shouldn't be doing until she's older. As for the younger kids, she may be bringing up topics to them that are rather sensitive. She's a good kid and wouldn't want to do harm to anyone, but I'm worried that she may be talking about age-inappropriate topics like sex or drugs with the younger kids without realizing that she's exposing them to too many things. The legal age is currently 19 here in Canada, and we've talked to her about how her older friends can legally do things she cannot do. |

I was going to use them to take my buddy John to the restaurant and concert. When I got to John's house he was sick and he said "Don't let those tickets go to waste". "Take my mom to the concert". I said sure. His mom was a VERY nice person and a VERY beautiful woman". We had a great meal and we both enjoyed the concert. As I was taking his mom home, she thanked me for taking her and said she had a lot of fun at the concert. The next time I saw John, he ask me about the concert. I told him I really enjoyed it and I thought his mom did also. Then John said "Did you get into her pants". I told him that was the most disgusting question I had ever heard. I told him I would never think of his mom that way even thought she is his stepmom. Was I right for being upset with him for him asking me that? |

She's been lying about having twin girls. How did we find out? A coworker googled twin girls and there it is, her supposed kids are on google and they have different' parents. She shows everyone the same pictures that are on the web saying their hers. She says in order to get custody of her kids, she can't have them on social media. Meaning she doesn't have any other pictures but the ones on the internet. She says they are models and that's the only way they can be seen. She never introduced us to them nor does she have regular pictures of them. She claims the woman on the picture is a model...Her snap chat never shows her kids. Her Facebook either. Just some studio like pictures. She claims to have 2 houses. She showed some of us two different ones as her 2nd house. So we caught her in a lie. We found out she has 5 different FB profiles as other people. Oh and it get's better. She then claims the rock is her cousin and Obama was her neighbor in Hawaii and that Moana was based on her life. She's 27 years old! She's been lying to everyone and telling us the same stories.. I don't know how can I continue being friends with a lier. My friend think she's a conpuslive lier.. but i'm sure there is a deeper reason why she lies like that. She says she has Hawaiian roots and was born in Hawaii, which may be true, however, she lies! He basically don't know the real her. Is she sick in the head? How do we approach her? |

You see, he is inexplicably very gentle with me when he tries to explain something to me, avoiding to hurt me with words. Always when he passes by my side he tries to make a joke to make me laugh. The other day I was very discouraged by a small mistake I made, and he consoled me and dismissed the error. Once he even interrupted a conversation he had with me to tell me that I had something in the hair and then touched my hair gently to remove it. On another occasion, he was on the phone and I waited for him to finish to ask him something, and as he spoke he moved closer and closer to me, so much so that I began to recoil instinctively. When he talks to me, he also stops very close to me. Many times he says "hello pretty" when I arrive. What do you think? Is he flirting or just being too nice? |

Our girls are 9, only a month apart and only children of each family. My friend s daughter has many friends from school and sports that like to come over. My daughter is homeschooled and isn t on a sport team yet but very soon. When these friends come over to play, my daughter isn t "allowed" to play with them because the other girl doesn t want her to "steal" her friends. This notion is supported by the other girl s mom, my friend. The kids that come over know my daughter and don t mind hanging out with her also. My daughter has difficulty making friends on her own due to both her minimal social life and her diagnosis of ADHD. They don t see the harm in excluding my child. The stance they take is that the other girl should be able to play with HER friends without having to include anyone she doesn t want to. They also say that forcing the other girl to allow mine to play will cause bad feelings towards mine. This tears me up. The first time this happened, my daughter was devastated. Worse yet, she is now accustom to being forced out, like she s used to it as a part of her life. I can t stand it 😢 |

Posted: 21 Apr 2017 11:48 PM PDT I have a teacher from when I went to middle school (I'm in highschool) who I consider more of just a teacher I will visit that school sometimes since it's basically a block away from my highschool and we will catch up but I don't always have time to go. I don't want to loose touch with her and she is my favorite teacher of all time. We don't really talk "professional" like about achademics, we talk more personal. For example I walked in to her class visiting her once and she was upset (about to cry) and she told me what was going on. I visited that school today and she is still dealing with it and we like had a 15 minute conversation since I haven't seen her in 4 months since my last visit. Note I am a 15 year old female and she is a 30 some year old female. Nothing like affection, just don't want to loose touch since we have so much in common and she is a teacher I consider a friend and a person I could go to if I was dealing with something. |

I've definitely located the source of my insecurity. He reached down and (gently) pinched the tip of each toe through my sock, looked confused, went back and felt around for my pinky. When he found it, he looked up and smiled. Was he flirting?
