Question: Should I stop trying with my best friend? Posted: 13 May 2018 05:07 PM PDT So back in October, my best friend introduced me to my now boyfriend. Ever since, she has been telling me how much of a bad guy he is and that I shouldn't be with him. My boyfriend and I got into one argument a few weeks ago and she turned into a big thing. Saying I deserve better and she doesn't want me to get hurt. I understand she wants me to be safe and happy but I've told her many times that we're happy together. She started telling me stories about his other relationships to me which don't mean anything to me because it was so many years ago. I feel like she's trying to get us to break up with each other which I don't appreciate at all, especially since she knows I'm happy. I told her how I do appreciate her concern but I don't appreciate her acting this way. She told me she's not happy with the way I reacted which I felt like I had a right to be upset. She then responded "I'm done. I've said my piece. Good luck to you." So I thought I'd let her simmer down for awhile. It's been 3 weeks, I texted her the other day for her birthday and she just said "Thanks." I'm not really sure if this is the end of our friendship or not but this is the longest we've went without talking. If she's not going to accept that I'm happy, I feel like I shouldn't try to be friends with her anymore. But I still miss her. I've been crying about it the past few days but I don't want to miss her anymore. What can I do? |
Question: Does me being bullied at school have to do with my mom being more protective of me? Posted: 13 May 2018 04:15 PM PDT My mom is scared that I will be tricked and "groomed" by someone whether in person or online. But she was less worried about me when I was happier, still had friends. When those girls started to hate me in 7th grade, she suddenly became more worried . I wonder if my problems at school are linked to why she's more protective than ever. She wasn't ever like this before, and, shes less worried about my siblings. It's only me that's changed. |
Question: Am a terrible human being? Posted: 13 May 2018 03:44 PM PDT I always try to be there for everyone. I really do want to do good by them. They always come to me with their problems and I'm happy they trust me enough to talk to me but the thing is I'm just getting so sick of hearing every little petty problem they have. I feel so selfish for feeling this. I know how screwed up it is that I don't want to listen anymore but it's so constant. I especially hate that my sister is sad all. The. Time. When she first started getting sad I was happy to be there for her but now she just complains about everything. The fact that she's always sad makes it so annoying to be around her. Lately I myself have been going through some stuff with my parents and whatnot and I try to talk about it but every time I do they relate it right back to there problems and don't listen to me so I'm stuck giving them advice again. I tried to take a day away from everybody yesterday so that I can stop feeling this way but that made everything worse. My sister got pissed that I didn't answer her all day and for some reason my best friend thinks I drove wedge between us all because I just needed a break for one freakin day. I can't take this anymore I wish they could see that we ALL have problems and I seriously want to keep being there for them but my god I'm starting to resent them. Im starting to think they are just being babies and I feel so bad thinking that. I really don't know what advice I'm looking for but I'll appreciate any I get. |
Question: "Sharing" jewelry or similar items for friend? Posted: 13 May 2018 03:17 PM PDT I want to do something special to honor me and one of my best friend's relationship. I am thinking something along the lines of necklaces, key rings or something similar that we can both "share". Where is the best place to search for customizable "sharing" gifts where one keeps part and then gives the other to someone special? I don't want to spend TONS of money (might sound cheap, but I can't afford like super expensive jewelry or something lol), yet I still want decent quality too (items that last and won't break after a day). Is there a way to maybe do a DIY like this for me and my friend? Again, I'm looking for something that we can both always have with us pretty much wherever we go so we can always look at that item and be reminded of each other and the special friendship we share. I'd like to avoid shipping too if possible - like be able to go to a store and have to personalized then pick it up within a few hours. And if I find a DIY idea I like, then I'd just obviously go to whatever necessary store(s) for what I needed. Just as a reference, I'm a female and my best friend is a male, so I'd really like gender neutral, non-feminine options! Thanks so much in advance for any/all suggestions! |
Question: Does she mean she wants to be friends ten years from now? Posted: 13 May 2018 03:12 PM PDT I was talking to a friend and I said "I don't think I'd ever want to move out of (area name)" she said "I'd love to check in in 10 years" |
Question: What does this mean? Posted: 13 May 2018 01:55 PM PDT I was talking to a woman I've known for a year. I said to her "I don't think I'd ever want to move out of (my area name)" she said "I'd love to check in in 10 years" |

Question: How do I cut away a toxic friend? Posted: 13 May 2018 12:15 PM PDT I have realized that one of my close friends is quite toxic. Every time we hang out, she leaves me emotionally drained. She makes fun of the way I do certain things and always jokes that I am more stupid than her. Now, I found that she has been completely lying to me about something that has significant importance to me. I honestly don't know why I have been friends with her for so long. When I confided my thoughts to another mutual friend, she revealed that she feels the same way and also wants to leave that friendship. My problem is that i still care for her and want her to have a strong support group without me or her other friend. If both of us leave, I feel that we are abandoning her. What's the best way to distance myself from her without making her feel absolutely awful about herself? |
Question: Why are people so competitive with each other? Posted: 13 May 2018 12:15 PM PDT I'm in my mid-30s now, and looking back at past failed friendships, I realize: so many of my so-called "Friends" were toxic in the sense that if we were too similar - age, gender, race, sexuality, they were more often than not: COMPETITIVE towards me frequently. Not all of them, but many. I've come to realize: this is prolly the norm, right? It's rare to find someone who is similar to you but is NOT threatened by you. I guess the solution is to befriend someone who is NOT similar to you: gender, race, age, LOL. Seriously! ThoughtS? |

Question: I lost my best friend and I don't know what to do. Please help? Posted: 13 May 2018 11:07 AM PDT I am very heartbroken from lost friendships and I am not really sure what went through their heads to cut me out of their lives so easily. We were a group of four good friends. We had our moments where we wouldn't get along with each other over the years, but we always got back together. To make things short, I will lay things out in A,B,C to address each friend: A) The last time we ever spoke was when I wished her happy birthday in January. I haven't spoke to her since summer of 2017, where she texted me out of nowhere telling me to be safe during Hurricane Irma. Before that, we had a bit of a fall out. After a mishap at Busch Gardens, I went to her house and we didn't know what to talk about with each other. I felt very uncomfortable and I could tell she did too. I could tell at Busch Gardens there was already something wrong with her. B) A's closest friend now, would only care to text me when she had something to gossip about and I didn't like that. I felt that she didn't really care about me, only when she had something to spread news about in her life and then leave me in the dark until the next event. When I did try to talk with her, she would just brush me off. I was surprised when she texted me happy birthday. It was very nice of her and I was grateful, but skeptical and wished her happy birthday as well despite the fact C) She was the only friend I kept in contact with all this time. I considered her my best friend. We shared everything together. Earlier this week, I took her to the beach. I was already planning what to get her for her and her sister's birthdays in August. I thought everything was fine. She was the only one that seemed to want to be my friend and always told me what a good friend I was until 2 nights ago, I ran into A & B at the mall. I said hi to them, they said hi back, but walked away like I didn't matter. They avoided me. I texted C saying "I saw A & B at the mall... :(" She ignored me. I sensed that I was being ignored, so I started a new conversation talking about a game and she replied and acted like I never sent her that 1st text. I apologized for the text, saying how seeing A & B made me sad because seeing them reminded me of good times I would never get back and that I valued her as a friend and that she didn't have to feel like she always had to be with me (as I could sense something was wrong with her too) and she ignored me again. It hurt my feelings. By her ignoring me, it felt like she didn't want to be my friend anymore. I confronted her about it. She came back saying that she didn't know what to say and accused me of interrogating her and that I was too negative of a person to be around and that we should go separate ways. I have a lot going on in my life and I would always go to her, as she said she was here for me. She had her own problems, and I was there for her. I would talk with her about A & B and she would talk back to me about them about missed memories and complaints (not always good things to say). She would complain about them too and I thought she was on my side. I know A & B liked to trash talk as well. C said she wasn't really involved with them, but I guess that was a lie. I feel like she talked about me with them the entire time. It was kind of two-faced of her, to complain about them to me, then probably tell them what I had to say behind my back when she said things too. I felt like she just pretended to be my friend this whole time.Yet, I cared so much. I cried about this. If I was such a horrible and negative friend, why did I always want to spend time with her, give her things, help her out when she needed help? I was always there for her. I took her to the beach! I went to the fair with her. I bought her food. Gave her presents. Is that really so negative? |

Question: Why Dose Everyone Annoy me ? Posted: 13 May 2018 09:25 AM PDT I have come to the realization that so many people annoy me i am female and a junior in high school. my freshman and sophomore year i had many friends and was sort of popular if you would say so. But this year i kinda "found myself" and matured a lot. i used to let people walk all over me but now i stand up for myself. Question: Does my friend have a right to be upset? Please read? Posted: 13 May 2018 08:11 AM PDT My friend is no longer with the father of her now one-year-old baby. She's upset right now because she found out that he is sending his girlfriend a gift for Mother's day but nothing for her. I guess she has done a lot for him in the past and he never gave her anything but she's upset because now his new girlfriend is getting a gift after she's never gotten anything and she's the mother of his child. Now she's upset and I'm trying to get her out this funk. Does she have a right to be upset? Or is she overreacting? |

Question: What do y'all think of this friend situation, Opinions please? Posted: 13 May 2018 07:38 AM PDT Ok, so my friend and I have been friends for over 7 years now. My friend can drive and has their own car. I cannot drive yet, but I am learning to drive. Since they started to drive, I feel that they have been very offhanded with asking to meet up at the last minute. To make matters worse, my mom has cancer, and needs all the help they can get, so going out is n't always possible for me. My friend is well aware of this. Now, we had arranged to meet up, and I genuinely thought I would be able to meet ( I made the arrangement first), but then on the day, I genuinely was n't albe to meet with them, and I apologised. Then, they got really irritable with me, saying that I always say I can meet, and then cancel. She knows my mom is ill. What should I do? There was one occasion, we had arranged to meet, and I was nearly waiting an hour for them, and they never showed up. |
Question: Friend only wants to hang out with me when it suits him. What should I do? Posted: 13 May 2018 07:34 AM PDT I've got a friend who picks me up and drops me when it's convenient for him. We've worked together for nearly three years. There have been several times where we've arranged to go out with me staying at his overnight; only for him to cancel on me at the last minute (with the same excuse always being given). He currently wants us to a write comedy together, something that we've talked about but i'm not particularly keen on. He also drinks quite heavily as well. What should I do? |

Question: Do I go to this wedding? Posted: 12 May 2018 06:18 PM PDT Recently one of my friends (Person A) got invited to a (maybe) mutual friend's (Person B) wedding, but I didn't. We are all seniors in college and all met freshman year. Freshman year all 3 of us went to lunch every week with each other and we really close. Sophomore year, Person A and B started going to lunch without me. Junior year, Person A and B kept in touch by texting. Senior year, Person B got engaged and invited Person A. I expressed my concern to Person A many times about if me and Person B were friends before deciding I was okay with basically being ghosted by Person B. But, Person A went to the bridal shower today and said that she had expected me to show up to the shower and wedding with Person A after Person A confronted Person B about me not thinking Person B was friends with me. Person B has not talked to me in two and a half years, but was one of the nicest people I met. Was Person B just trying to be nice after being confronted by Person A? Should I go to the wedding? I still haven't talked to her about it. |
