this is going to sound very weird and out of the ordinary, but to me this is sort of an issue. recently a close friend became a buddhist, and this might sound selfish, but i miss their old self. on a side note, they're an internet friend, but we're very close and have known each other for a while. i think buddhism, meditation, and seeking enlightenment is a great thing and is healing for the body and the mind. but now all they're focused on is meditation and such, and they're planning on only updating their blog two days a week, and tumblr and messaging are the main ways we communicate with each other. their entire aesthetic and way of life is so different now - they don't write like they used to, and they were a very good poet. we could count on each other to help each other with our life and mental health issues, and i really liked how we had deep and meaningful conversations. but now i feel like they'll forget about me eventually. i know it's sort of selfish, and i should be happy for them - but i have a feeling that our friendship will fade away. any advice is greatly appreciated, and thank you for your time

I'm 19 and I've got a real good pal that I met at work. So several of my family members have apparently been talking behind my back... Basically one said that I will be a divorcee by the age of 20, and another one was talking about me and my "b**** mode". I found out that I am not to my friend what my friend is to me, and so I think I have to stop. I care too much about this girl she was so nice to me but I think she is faking it and its really sad to me. The more I think about going out and similar things the more I realize I dont really want that. It's not something that would make me happy. I am perfectly fine with being in my house or my friends house and talking about x things. The biggest problem is that to have friends one has to go out I guess. (I'm a male) This friend and I were really close (Possibly lovers). And out of the blue one day I told her that I have been struggling with depression and have had suicidal thoughts. I get happy when people fail and I've found that I'm a very jealous person. I don't want to be like this. I want to be able to be happy for people and to like who I am. For example, whenever my college roommate fights with her friend I get happy. Hello. Lately I am reaching a crucial point in my life where I am realizing how many flaws I have. My biggest flaw and the one I must struggle with is the one of having to be better than anyones around me in every aspect. If I am in the gym and someone is bigger than me or looks better, I doubt myself. If I am at a disco with friends who are pros at dancing, I simply don't dance or invite a girl to dance (eventhough I know how to do it). If someone is more intelligent than me or nicer, or whatever, I always tell myself, why would a woman want to be with me? Why would a friend decide to be my friend and not that guy? Sorry for the rant but I don't know what to do.

I used to be in an abusive friendship. She would yell at me. Make me feel worthless. Even hit me sometimes. She made me feel miserable but sometimes it was good. I'm 17 and a girl. I'm in 11th grade. My whole entire life in school and outside of school, people judge me. I'm quiet and shy kinda person. It even happened in Kindergarten. No one will ever wanna be my friend, and they always talk amongst themselves about how quiet I am and why I never talk. And no matter how hard I try, I cannot get out of that comfort zone. I do have friends and I'm loud with them, just can't do it with other people. When I was in 8th grade I moved to CA. And the very first day, people would usually wanna be the new kids friend. Nope. My mom won't let me invite my friend anywhere cause there was a party that had alcohol at it and she was at the party. So, my best friend, we'll call her S, went to Jamaica, and came to my school right after Halloween. She was nice and quiet, and didn't know any of the kids except those from last year. So, I introduce her to my friends. J, H, M, and D. Well, they didnt really talk for about a week after that. Next thing I know, they're all hanging out, and never talking to me. S used to be my best friend, but now I'm not so sure. I have a few other friends, G and C. I sit with G and C every day at lunch now, instead of S,J,H,M,D,G,and C. So I ve been best friends with her since we were 11, and now I m 14 and things are beginning to turn around.
