Question: Should I have separate social media for people I work with? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 05:06 PM PDT My co workers want me on Facebook. But I don't need them finding out about my politics. Could end pretty bad. |
Question: Am I being too sensitive? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 05:05 PM PDT My longtime friend and I get together once a week and have a fun day of shopping and lunch. She has a dynamic personality, has tons of friends and talks to every person that crosses our path. I am quiet by nature, have no friends, but whenever I speak to anybody while we are out, she interrupts & contradicts or undermines anything I say. Usually I'll shut right up, as if I'm not worthy of a thought, but it's getting annoying. I tried talking to her about it but she got annoyed with ME, that I was too sensitive. Really?! |
Question: I get this sense that people in my program don't like me? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 04:50 PM PDT I get this sense that people in my classes (university) don't like me and almost like they're gravitating away from me. There's a high chance I might run into at least some of them because of the Industry I'm going to be working in... so not caring what people think isn't really a good option. I'm just hoping for some friendly small talk, not necessarily looking for friends (though I wouldn't mind). There could be a lot of reasons why this is happening (hey maybe I smell?) so I guess, my real question is, how do I figure out what that reason is? ----- P.S. none of my close friends are in my program, so I can't ask them... |

The few times she was infront of me at the cafeteria, she seemed really nice to other. She was also very pretty. I want to have a conversation with her but there is one problem. I have no classes with her. So if I just go up to her a just start talking to her it would be awkward. Please tell me I need help |

Question: Should I confront my guy friend about this? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 04:33 PM PDT So, I have this guy friend (let's call him Sam) - we've known each other for nearly 4 years. A couple of years back he made a move on me at a party, but I had a boyfriend at the time, so I politely turned him down. We ended up having an argument about it (he had a difficult time hearing no), but we eventually reconciled and we're still good friends today. He even recently got a girlfriend. However, I heard from another guy friend (let's call him John) the other day that Sam had sexually assaulted a girl about two years ago, a few months after he'd made a move on me. He'd fingered her while she was sleeping, apparently. For what it's worth, I trust John completely (I'm even closer to him than I am to Sam), and I know he wouldn't lie to me. The thing is is that Sam's girlfriend looks so happy with him, so could this maybe have been a one-time indiscretion on his part? I don't know whether to confront Sam about what I've heard, and whether he would even tell the truth if I did. What should I do? |
Question: Was she asking for his number? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 04:28 PM PDT I overheard this girl asking this guy, "can I give you my email?" to share assignments or something. The guy then said "Oh I think I have your email" while searching the schools' email system. |

Posted: 02 Nov 2017 03:59 PM PDT I feel like, in this generation we are evolving fast. Do you believe everybody needs friends? This is random, but I want your opinions and if you feel the kinda same way I do. I feel like you have not gotta be reall popular, one friend or two Is enough to keep you happy. I feel like when I make new friendships tho, my luck is not good. I'm great wit communication, some people before "appreciate" me being their friend cause I'm "Lit" lol. I just feel like everybody you meet you can never fully trust, and my "friends" always against you. Have you ever met friends that you think the future is improved, but then things just fall apart? We are gifted to have the internet and ways to connect easy to anybody in general. My point is tho, do you feel like it's hard to keep a good friendship without something always going wrong? A while ago I lost my friendship with my closest friend, we were friends for a long time. I'm done with that now tho, imma try get possitibe people in my life too. I feel like your "friends" always expect you to do something first. A lot of people can relate tho, is it how it is now? This is not just for me, but we all loose communication with others. |
Question: "best friend" problem? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 03:55 PM PDT This has been bothering me recently. My supposed best friend never wants to hang out. and doesn't seem to want to contact me after school. I don't understand it. The first time was over the summer. He bailed from going to the mall at the last minute. I thought whatever it's fine. Then he continuously made excuses over summer as to why he wasn't contacting me. Recently I tried to get him to come over for halloween. His immediate response was "my parents dont allow anything on weekdays" yet I see pictures all over social media of him with other friends on halloween. He claims he does want to hang out, but I think he is lying to me and it's getting really old. |

Question: How to deal with this person(s)? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 02:04 PM PDT So I guess you can say I've been "friends" with this person ever since freshman year of high school, let's call her Amy. We started off okay, but towards the end of freshman year she thought it would be funny to steal my lunch (first red flag?). I confronted her about it and she apologized. We then became friendly towards each other again. However, the niceness she had towards me fluctuated over the course of soph, junior and now senior year. She would be nice to me when we're around certain people but then when she thinks I'm not paying attention, she'd say a snarky comment to someone else about me or even say it to my face when everyone is around and laugh it off like it's a joke, when I can clearly tell its out of spite. But one moment I want to touch on is how she acts in our English class. So at the beginning of the year I decided to sit with my two other friends and she came along and sat with us. We were all getting along fine. Then we had an activity in class where the tables had to to arranged in a circle and during this time a new girl came. However, once we put the tables back into a group of four the next day, I was running late to class and the new girl takes my seat and I'm forced to sit with people I barely know and feel shocked that the new girl was bold enough to do that. Anyways, I try to take my seat back the next day and Amy makes a whole big deal about the new girl not being at their (rest of story in photo) I've stood up to her most of the times she was rude to me, just in case y'all think I'm a weeny! :P |
Question: Can't stand a friend in my friend group?? Help!!? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 01:48 PM PDT There are four of us in my friend group at college. We're really close but three of us have begun to be very very annoyed by the other, just based on her personality and how she acts towards us. We don't want to be mean or rude to her but don't want to room with her next year. What can we do? |
Question: Why are kids soo annoying? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 01:18 PM PDT I am 23 years old and I am just soo annoyed by kids. Does anybody else my age feel this way? |
Posted: 02 Nov 2017 01:17 PM PDT I know this sounds really bad, trust me it is, so basically I met someone last year and we became best friends instantly and we cared for each other. I pushed her out of my life and her friends which were also my friends and I regret. I did this because I was dealing with some things at home and I didn't want to make them unhappy. They no none of this and everyday at school they would look at me and sometimes ignore me. They started to ignore me more and more and it hurts. They like my stuff on social media but they tend to stare at me and I can see at the corner of my eye. What do I do? |

Question: Could he be scared of me? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 12:53 PM PDT I started texting a guy form dating app. At first he was flirting so hard and it was fun then I confronted him to find out if he actually liked me or not cause I'm not about that pointless flirting life. He said he doesnt want to date me. I think he doesn't want to chat but hes afraid to say that. He texts way less and isnt as responsive as before. But says he wants to be friends. |
Question: Why is my friend at work different with me? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 12:52 PM PDT I've been working at the same school as a speech teacher for 2 years. There is one teacher that I've become very close with since I started. We hang out all of the time, our kids play together and we talk on the phone regularly. There is a part-time teaching assistant that started working at our school about a month ago, and whenever I am in the room to work with the child I'm assigned to in my friend's class, she is very rude to me when my friend isn't looking, plays on her phone when she should be watching the kids, and is very nasty. My friend for some reason loves her and doesn't see the way she really is. I told my friend that I was worried about how she doesn't supervise the kids, but she just told me to "stop whining about it" and doesn't talk to me anymore and prefers this substitute. I'm floored at the dramatic change in demeanor and am hurt. Why would she do that? |
Posted: 02 Nov 2017 12:44 PM PDT He and I broke up 2 months ago and I started going to church and found him staring at me 2 weeks in a row so I texted him but he said he was offended which is why it wouldn't work and why he wouldn't allow himself to have feelings for me again. I didn't respond. I've been going to church since then it's been almost a month, i don't look at him and have given him a dirty look couple times. He literally doesn't take his eyes off me my family says...confused |
Question: Is this friendship weird or wrong? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 12:40 PM PDT I have been friends with this guy since high school, we have never been romantically or sexually involved and I feel no attraction to him like that, he is even married to his high school girlfriend now and they have a kid together, I know her as well and she has no problem with her husband and I being friends or hanging around together whatsoever...but a mutual friend of ours regularly says that our friendship is not normal and that I'm going to come between his wife and him? This friend has pulled me aside from parties and told me that I "need to stop flirting with him" "leave him alone he's married" and now suddenly I'm doubting my own friendships, what if this other friend is right and I do come between him and his wife? I know I don't have feelings for him, and if he ever had feelings for me he never told me and his relationship with his wife is a happy and stable one according all the information I have. Do you think it's weird that I've kept up a friendship for over ten years with a married man? Is it normal for two people of different sexes to be friends and there not be anything else going on? |
Posted: 02 Nov 2017 12:14 PM PDT So my friends and I went to a beachside bar a grille and sat at a table, we were wearing swimsuit and coverups but my friend brooke had a troll hat one (like from the movie) When the waitress got there (she was about 50) my friend brooke said "Its your lucky day." and then she say " Oh yeah? Why" in a sarcastic tone. She went to get our waters and we were just chatting deciding what to order. When she got back we ordered a basket of fries and she left. We were joking around with our straws and we saw her glare at us from inside the restaurant. We thought nothing of it until when she brought us our bill we put the money in the fold and it wasnt very noticeable. When she walked away she glared at us and shook her head meeting eye contact with one of my friends but then, when she came back with our change IT WAS ALL IN PENNIES. SIX DOLLARS IN PENNIES. We decided not to give her a tip after that. Is that rude? |

Question: Feel like friendship is drifting apart? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 11:09 AM PDT I'd like to start by saying this is an online/long distance friendship that started over roleplay on Tumblr. In the beginning me and my friend were close and hit it off well. Now, we barely can hold conversation with one another and there's dead air sometimes between us. There's also jealousy that I think is equal on both sides but more from me. She's more extrovert and I'm introvert. We're both young adults/grown enough, but we handle situations poorly, imo. It just seems like our lows outweigh our highs and neither of us wanna end the friendship because we care about one another deeply but it's become "toxic" in a sense. I dunno whether I should try and fix our relationship or let it go completely. Help? Need ACTUAL help, not short dumb answers. |

Question: Why are my parents so overprotective? Pt. 2? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 10:27 AM PDT So I want to say more. I have no phone, laptop, or anything of mine and this one is kept a secret. As a teenager, this is very hard for me, but my parents don't care. They won't let me go anywhere or hang out with my friends on the weekdays and only on weekends, but I have to have had good behavior to hang out with them. I get in trouble and my mom puts me in her walk in closet for some time. My parents also won't let me have any video games and if I play on the computer, they limit my time use to an hour max. I am not allowed to have a girlfriend till I am 23. And my normal day is work in the morning, take a 30 minute break, do some more work, then eat lunch and have a 3 hour break. I have nothing to do since I have no phone, laptop, or video game and it is really annoying and it feels like I have to live as a 5 year old. I try talking to them, but it never works. They are also pretty abusive, but that is for another discussion. I feel depressed a lot and when I look at my friends life, I feel so left out and embarrassed because they have much more than I do and they get to go to school. A lot of people say high school sucks, it's hard, it's good, but I am really upset I missed out on high school. I feel horrible I don't have a normal life like being able to hang out with friends whenever, have a phone, social media, girlfriend, go to a public school, etc like everyone else. This is getting to be really annoying and I can't take it anymore. Please help. Thank you :) |
Posted: 02 Nov 2017 09:58 AM PDT I have a friend who I met through YA!, now we talk on the phone, text, and play a game on our phones with each other. I told my friend that I googled him and found his house, he just stopped talking to me, its been several hours now. I have tried to call and his phone is off. He originally said "that mean burglars could find my house too". I made the comment nothing is private anymore and some folks can find stuff on the internet that you did not even know about yourself...trying to be funny. What the heck has happened? I am confused...I have texted him that I am sorry if I creeped him out. Any ideas? Okay, he is not married, he is living with his parents at the moment. We talk on the phone and we are not being anonymous with each other. I dont feel like I was stalking...I was just bored. I have sent him several apologies texts and left him a voicemail saying the same. I didnt mean any harm...how can I fix this? Okay situation resolved...he said he took a nap and went to an appointment and left his phone at home to charge. I told him how I felt and that if he had of just sent me a text saying going to lay down before appointment, I would not have freaked thinking I upset him. I trust this friend and I do not feel any of the negative things some of you have expressed in your answers. There are good people in the world and he is one of them. |

Question: Does she have feelings for me? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 07:40 AM PDT There's a girl I talked to a couple years ago and I got the impression she liked me based on her body language. Blushing, staring, pupil dilation and her actions. She acted like my mom and would say my name in a warm hearted way if I talked about something bad or inappropriate. We went months without talking we run into each other and she kind've watched me and I felt something. We go a year and I see her look her way she turns her head and stares me down and didn't stop until I left this was for many seconds. I went in to work with her and she walked past me and knew I was there and as she walked into the other room looked over her shoulder at me. As I walked in the room and she when she was close to me said Hi. After that theres a moment she was staring at me for seconds like she's checking me out and I felt something from it wasn't sure if being checked out or looked in the eyes but I caught her looking at me and she was talking to someone else yet her body faced me and she's looking at me instead. After that when we crossed paths she looked down to the right avoiding eye contact. |

And now she's even more upset because I didn't tell her I moved in with her a month ago. I know it was a mistake but I apologized and admitted I was wrong. How bad is this?? |

Question: How do I stop trying to control everything around me? Posted: 02 Nov 2017 01:04 AM PDT Every person I meet I immediately add them on every social media possible, get they're number and give them mine, and from that point on keep track of everything they do who comments the most who they talk to the most etc I have to know everything about everyone. But I don't want to be that creepy psychotic friend my childhood best friend was. How do I fix this habit? |
