Posted: 05 Sep 2017 05:44 PM PDT So I am a sophomore in college and I decided to room with one of my roommates from last school year. She moved in a little earlier than me and as a result she has had the chance to familiarize herself with our suite mates and RA, who are all also sophomores. It seems like everyone in our suite wants to be super close/hang out together and while I am not against that and have been hanging out with them, I'm having trouble getting comfortable/being myself around them. We went out to eat today and I feel like out of everyone I talked the least.I think some of what makes it difficult to feel comfortable is I am worried they might think I am too awkward/won't get my humor. I feel like by me not talking a lot/not really adding much to the friend group, they might be getting the impression that I am not fun/not interested in hanging out with them, which is not true at all. I know it has only been a few days, but I feel like I should be doing some things differently. I do have other friends, who I hung out with last school year and one thing I appreciate about them is they make me feel comfortable with being myself and I feel like I can relate to them more.These girls are sort of the "pretty girls" who flirt with guys/have boyfriends/have had boyfriends and I can not relate to any of that stuff. So what steps should I make to feel more comfortable around them/be less quiet. |

The problem is that as soon as other friends are around she acts distant... why would she do that? Am I an embarrassment? I am well-liked by everyone I know.. I have come to learn that she actually has many many many friends of which many also consider her their best friend, does that have something to do with it? Does she act distant with all of them too so none of us notice that she has other "best friends"? I also notice that she downplays all my achievements to others, could jealousy be the issue? When she was new I introduced her to everyone I knew and invited her along to parties and events, now that the roles are reversed she has done none of that for me. Sometimes I have also gotten the impression that she doesn't like me making new friends. Reading all this you might wonder why I'm still friends with her but alone we laugh, we have our inside jokes, we talk about everything, she takes a lot of interest in my life, you feel that you can trust her, it feels like she cares and has your back, she really feels genuine and smiles a lot.... I love that and have never had a friend like that but I question all of that when I see how she can change in front of others. I'm in grade 9 and it's so hard for me to deal with this school. I mean the people aren't that friendly and I haven't really made a lot of friends. I'm a girl and working warehouse full of guys and few girls that gossip a lot. my only 2 close friends I made senior year moved far. my 2 close guy friends at work quit a long time ago. I see a psychologist & have tried many activities to make friends & its like I'm at the wrong place. I went a few days to my fashion design class I was gunna start at a comunity college & didn't feel excitement. many said they just want to learn to sew & thats it, no passions, goals, nothing. I attended a program and 3 classes ar fidm few years ago and loved it. but it was too much money & not good grades. I enjoy youtube and taking pics for my Instagram page. since was born I had selective mutism and loved art and creativity. it fuels my mind. I plan to quit soon and get a new job. feel lost and not myself, I like talkingalot but feel trapped and iv been rejected All my life , the girls have met are all bad people and to me, my only close friend is a guy that iv kissed many times, we like each other but we r super emotionaly close & he's special to me. my family is in Mexico, I live with my mom, my brother is married and his bestfriend is his wife, he has no friends, my cousin doesn't like me and we have gotten in a fight cuz she has jealousy. However, we started to drift apart in middle school as i became better friends with others and so did she, but we were still pretty close. We had several fights along the way but we always somehow made up and moved on. High school came, and she was only in 2 of my classes, and we both made different friend groups. In the two classes we had together, we didnt really talk and time went by. the reason i never approached her was because i felt like she hated my and didnt want anythin to do with me. So now she would completely ignore me, like today, i was literally beside another friend, and she came up and hugged and greeted her and didnt say anything to me. and when she does talk to me, it seems like shes forcing a conversation out. One night in February she came to my home to speak to me, because She thought I had lied to her so she needed me to tell her the truth. I began explaining my side of the story but she didn't beleive me, soo she just began walking away. I softly held her for a few seconds so she could hear me out, later that night she told me I crossed the line when I put my hands on her... ...she told me she was abused in the past and that I destroyed everything. She blocked me from everything, so I sent her 2 long apology letters with a teddy bear. She eventually called the police, soo I had a police officer come to my house and gave me a warning to leave her alone. I miss her so much, I had a 5hr surgery early this year and my friend never left my side. Do you think she forgot about me????? I need her back please help??? :( She cared so much about me |

A mutual friend told me and said that she was in Rogers- a psych ward I was in a few months earlier for the same reason really. Is this an ok text to send? Now she gives me $5 total for 3 days worth of driving.... She honestly didn't even ask if I could start taking her to work, it was basically telling me the days she worked and assuming I'd take her. Everytime we go out, more than likely I pay she conveniently forgets to bring money... She never gets me anything for my birthday, even though I go all out for her... A few months back we were visiting her Aunt and the Aunt walks around my car and says "Yes, this will be perfect for me to take my drivers test in" and never even asked me?? It's just a really weird relationship... I don't know how to change the dynamics. Can you please offer me advice. She's been dependent on me since her teen years. |

Our boss Bill is a 28 year old great looking single guy. Besides being our boss Bill is a good friend to all of us and just a fun person to be around. We were in some of the same classes together in high school, and it feels like these people have never really grown up. They're catty, judgmental, and all sort of hate each other. I have always been the "weird" one of the group, and have been the butt of so many jokes and backhanded comments on the way I am. They think I'm weird because I'm not like them. I went to support them and be a good friend, and it made me start to see how they really don't care. Her birthday was in March.I bought her a Brian Wilson concert Ticket, a hydroflask which is 30 bucks, and bought all her food that day.... Probably spent at least 90 in total. Well my birthday came and went and she did zero for me... Only wished me a happy Birthday.. However yesterday she commented that I got her the purple hydroflask instead of blue the one that she wanted... I said "you told me the size you wanted, you didn't tell me the color"... She disagreed... She said "well it still serves it's purpose"... I just think it's rude of her to even bring it up.. I go out of my way for her, and she never does the same for me... I pay for her meals for the most part everytime we hang out, I give her rides constantly because she doesn't drive. I take her to work 3 days a week, and she gives me 5 dollars total for the 3 days... For the longest time she never gave me gas money at all, so props to me for even saying anything. Hes kool but if your involved in that stuff you cant really say anything about anybody. I dont know, thats my opinion. WHAT you guys think ? Unfortunately I ve figured out that the reason I can t walk away is because a powerful connection with her 9 year old daughter. Recently a number of horrible things have happened to her including her best friend dying, being molested, and having an abusive step father who keeps leaving and has said in front of her that she is not his daughter he only has a son. He has been around since she was 2 years old. But my friend continues to allow him back. I agreed to become a mentor, take her once a week for a couple hours and just talk. The first day after a couple hours together we were relaxing on a rocking chair and she layed on my chest and she said, "you don t know what s going on in my house" and I responded. "Yes I do, why do you think I have you with me right now." And she held me tighter and layed her head on me without saying a word. Immediately it felt like an overwhelming amount of depression sunk into my body from hers. She had let me have it all at once. After I took her home I was stricken with this incredibly heavy burden. And I tried many ways to initiate crying to let some of it go but it took days. I was told that connecting with children is extremely powerful and I needed to be careful and find an outlet. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or reading material on being an empath and dealing with children so I m more equipt to handle this role. |

It's filled with kids with shitty parents who don't pay any attention to them,I'm in a small room with 30 kids who have built a social hierarchy,in which if you wanna have friends,you gotta act like a retard.Most of the kids have gambled at least once in my school,probably smoked. Yesterday was the start of 9th grade,I was following bunch of "friends" and immedeately I led myself into a smoking session,these kids literaly smoked infront of neighbours,who live sad lives and crave something bad to happen to gossip people.They find me stupid,weird,ugly,they're so toxic that they just talk crap about you to everyone else,they run around on breaks,sometimes break school equipment,its filled with harpy girls,so you can't even establish a friendship nor a love interest,all I want is to graduate primary and get into a medical school,which is in a city,and im hoping that its filled with better,more civilised people. My friends consist of a really dumb gypsy with iq 20 and a attention seeker who will ditch you for it. Prom is gonna be next year,and I have noone to go there with,and having my teacher put me with some weird midget ugly kid and having a picture taken is undeniably stupid,I'm so sick of people shoving it in my face.How can I put up with this,I fear I won't have any friends till the rest of my life if I don't leave this sh*t country filled with broke rat nationalistic parents with bad influence. |

She's talked to me about it a lot, I'm going through the same thing now, except my friend committed suicide... I want to ask my bestfriend how she could handle the pain and moving on after his passing, just because I'm struggling with my friends suicide, but I'm afraid to ask her.. we always ask each other questions but would I be bad for asking her how she could handle it or how she stayed strong after his passing? |

When I got there I met his mom and sister who I never met before. His sister was really hot and she is 1 year and a half younger than me. (I'm 18) anyway my best friend(19) and I, as well as his little sister go super drunk at like 1 am after his mom went to sleep. We walked around outside and I noticed his sister kept bumping into me on purpose. So we walked back to his house and got into his car. We were all talking and out of nowhere she started holding my hand and rubbing my arms. Then as my friend was talking to me me and his sister started kissing. In front of him! Anyway that's all that happend but the next day he woke up saying he felt like garbage and he felt kinda upset and depressed with me and her. What should I do to make sure this doesn't ruin our friendship?!?! |

I just recently found out that my dearest friend has been going through some abuse from both of her parents, along with just overall neglectful behaviour. I know what it's like to go through something as terrible as that, and not have anyone to run to. So, I basically act as her mother figure that she doesn't have. We're both in our freshman year. I just want to give her the best life she can have, but I feel so out of place given the fact that we're the same age. Is it weird? Should I stop? We were on the phone all afternoon, atleast she stayed on with me, I was bawling in tears to her, which I have never done before. She helped me tremendously as i was at a very low point, she got me to calm down. It was just one of those special times in a friendship when you realize that you actually have someone who cares... so Crying to someone, do you think it creates a bond between friends? I feel so much closer to her, I feel like our bond grew. She's even opened up to me a lot more. Is that weird? How do you think she feels? |

| Question: Is it bad to be quiet and shy ? Posted: 04 Sep 2017 07:30 PM PDT I really don't know if I was quiet as a kid but I know for sure I was shy. But family members tell me I used to talk more when I was way younger. I'm 19 now, and I used to live surrounded by family before I turned 10 years old in New York. Once I was 10 I ended up in Georgia with my mom, her husband, and brother. But everything changed from that moment I started to live in Georgia. I didn't have family close by , I didn't know anyone near by, but only like one of my moms friend that lived in the neighborhood at the time. But anyway I started to become more quiet and much more shy. Usually people say that when you grow with family around you become more social I guess because you have friends and you have people to talk to and hang out with. I grew up mostly in Georgia but I don't have great memories of living here. But for some reason I remember so much as a kid going out with my grandparents, dad , and cousins but in New York. Once I got to Georgia everything became more lonely but then again I became more socially awkward and more independent. I ended up growing up more shy and I don't really like talking to people or being around them as usual.i feel ok being alone cause I rather be alone then be with people I don't like. I tend to think to myself then talk . I was wondering if that is bad at my age. |

I only had 2 close good friends in my senior year of highs cool but they moved far. I keep in touch with 8 friends on social media but they all live far. I never have gone out with girlfriends or to eat to shop nothing. I have made guy friends at different jobs, warehouses.i get along with guys I can say anything and they are kind. with girls many I have met gossip or don't show interest with me. I spend time with my mom, I have very little family. i have a brother that is married. I start fashion classes at a community college next year. for now I'm taking general classes online and sketch class in person but mostly everyone already knows each other and I don't find anyone I click with. its not the same as a complete fashion school, many said they are taking the class just because, just to learn or for fun. I do more mature, I don't like gossip, I want to be a business women and do many things. Im finding it very hard to make a friend. I'm just super close with one guy for almost a year but we have kissed a lot etc, we like each other but I do consider him someone special to me. |
