She was begging us to have a baby before we got pregnant but was very unenthusiastic when we told her. She has always had my husband's full attention. She acted very needy before and he would go spend time with her, she needed money (after irresponsible spending) and he would give her some even if we didn't have it, I didn't stand in his way because she's alone and I felt bad for her. Now we have a baby and my husband's attention has gone all to me after I had a brutal recovery and to our baby. She has tried to get my husband to come over every weekend, we've gone over twice but it's not good enough and she's pissed. How do we even begin to deal with this??? I also suspect she's mad at me. She used to text me all the time but after I had the baby she's been silent. I think she's feels left out because I don't need her help. When her daughters had their babies she was practically their second mom. One had her baby when she was a teenager and the other was a single mom so she was very involved in their lives, they lived together. But since me and my husband are in our 30s and very independent we don't need help. We love this time bonding with our baby and don't want to give it up to her because she feels the need to take over. How can I get her to just chill out and just be a grandparent? |
