My friend and I are very close. She's a lot older but we get along really well. It's about to be her one year mark since her dad died. Lately she has been very excited over her new pool although I know as we are reaching the one year mark she is going to be extremely upset that week. I know I can't heal her heart but I want to cheer her up just a tiny bit. Would it be silly if I bought a new pool float for the new pool and mailed it to her? As a way to boost the spirit a tiny bit ( like a bed pool float)

Doors and windows unlock by itself I live a lone in a studio like place there's 3 windows and front and back door. These are regular windows and doors nothing high tech the windows have a latch I lock everything up at night wake up the next day and everything is unlocked sometimes the window is open the door was never caught open tho idk how or why it happens someone please help me understand this.

If they have to go to my brother's school for something, they go with no problem. If they have to go to my school for something they complain. If I go out with my parents they always make sure my brother has food he wants to eat even if it makes us late. If my parents go out with my brother their on this strict schedule and don't have time to find food I want to eat so they just leave. They tell me I need to compromise like my brother, but he never has to compromise about this.

My mother has been dating a man for 7 years. Their realationship is very unhealthy with them constantly "breaking up". He tells her pretty shitty things like "I'll have you replaced in 3 days" or "you're a spoiled *****" he's even brought my older brother and I into it telling her that I did speed at the age of 17. The only drug I've done is smoke weed. She tells us how he goes to his work and talks **** about her, now her and I are both banned from his work which is a dealership that we both have bought our cars from. Now we aren't able to go and get are cars serviced. Nobody on our side of the family approves of him, not one person. But i found out my mistake that both of them got married a year ago in Vegas. This deeply bothers me because she's always told me she left my father because she didn't want me to think the way he treated her was ok. But her I guess husband now treats her the exact same way and my 10 year old sister sees and hears about all of it. I asked her the other day if we could go to therapy to discuss their realationship and how it effects our home life and all she told me was that it's my siblings and I who cause the majority of the problems at home. I can't talk to her one on one I just get beat down but I don't see any reason to go talk to my therapist about it if nothing will get resolved. Does anybody have advice?

My name is Harry and I am 13, I don't mean to sound like a baby but my mother never takes me anywhere and if we do go anywhere its to the grocery store which is only once a week. I am home schooled since I am christian and my mom thinks I should learn about god an whatnot. I live in a place where the farthest place to go is Lexington which is 20mil away from my main town. We live on a farm but we don't own it we rent because we have 3 dogs and we can't afford a house anywhere else that lets dogs. For my birthday last year she took me to a shooting range and that was really fun. I never get to go anywhere else though its just my older sister. She says we need to get her to live in college but its been about 3 years since and she is still doing stuff all the time with my mom and never me yet I am the younger child. On her off days at work this week I saved up money to go to a chocolate factory and do some other stuff and she said that she doesn't feel like it and then 30 mins later my sister comes down stairs and then they leave together. I am once again stuck the whole day sitting on my rear end on the computer playing video games. Which is fun but I am gaining weight and I never go outside and I want to leave the house. Not even out of state just 20 mils from here so I can get a nice lunch or something. The town we live in is old so it only has girly things and antique shops. I want to do something fun. I may seem spoiled but I just want to leave my house and do something fun

(it has only been a few times) even though I have 3 family members with cancer including my dad and my mother is disabled, can they do that? We've been getting slot if Tornado's in my area lately and it's causing a lot of damage. So I told my dad we should move to a more stable home because years ago a tornado demolished the house he had before completely. Now he has a trailer that's old and the roof sounds like it could fly off at any moment. Every time a storm come the power knocks out and doesn't be back on until the next day. He got mad at me and told me if I didn't like it then leave. I'm not trying to fight with him I'm just trying to make sure we are safe. Honestly I am scared and I know I shouldn't be but I've been inside of a tornado. One was at the beach and I was like a mile away from another one that was near my mothers house but by the grace of God it's went back into the air and it disappeared . Maybe I am over reacting a little? Or could I be somewhat right?

I will make it as short as possible. She was very abusive until puberty. Now she tries to be my friend, says good things about me, compliments me... I hate it. I want her to hate me . I never forgot all the abuse I went through. When she tries to be friendly with me, I always ignore her and I have 0 tolerance for her... I don't even tell her about my accomplishments at school. No phone calls, no cards, nothing. It's like I was nothing to him, but he fought over having my brother live with him. I guess because i Was a girl he didn't care, I don't know. I come from a good Lutheran family--except not quite. My parents love each other and all but I have four older brothers, an older half sister and an older half brother. So I m the youngest. My dad treats my brothers like they re the world and like they can do anything. On the other hand, I just kind of suck. Today, my dad got me up at 6:00 (summer vacation) and had my brother get up at 11. Dad called me out and yelled at me for being "lazy" and "stupid". Then he told me to clean the entire house. My brother just kind of sat at the table. That s just one of the mild things. He got so bad a while ago that I began cutting. A few years ago, he made me hare myself so much that I formulated a plan to kill myself. Please tell me: does he hare me or am I overreacting?

I am 24. I have bad credit and no job right now I secret shop. I am on my own my parents passed away. My mom a while ago my dad just recently. The place I am staying I have to be out in June. I luckily saved 14,000. I want to move to LA the place I am looking at is 1,000 a month I know it's a lot and I found cheaper but I know this is safe so I want to start with this till I make friends. I am going to college but I figured I could finish my two year degree online this year and then transfer to a four year in La next year or next semester so I can get student loans to help with expenses. Already off the bat I can secret shop until I get a job. I have a car in md I can't decided if I should drive to La or finance a cheap car once I get there. So long story short I just got done with two years of community college I did very poorly, my gpa was 1.8. I decided on my own since Im 20 years that I m gonna take a full time job and work for a bit until I know for sure what I want to do for myself. Well come last night my mom asked to see my grades I showed them to her. She flipped the f***out like it was the end of the word. She threatned to strangle me, she had her hands ready and everything. Ok. So I moved out of his house bc there is a sociopath who lives there(same age as me and bullies me as well as threatens people) and he refuses to kick her out for 4 years now and he doesn't believe me when I say she has bullied me. He then brought in a married woman(she's married to another man but she's screwing my dad) with her kids who also bullied me and he was there when she bullied me and he claims that what she did wasn't wrong and that I'm exaggerating. She made me cry and he just stood there not doing anything. He also does not charge them rent, but yet he doesn't want to give me money. He lets these people take advantage of him.

So basically the whole story is that , my boyfriend disrespected me by how my dad sees it, which I actually wanted to do stuff with him.. the BAD PART is that we were in my parents room. Im 15 year old, my sister is 23. She was always the better one, she had good grades, she goes to the university. I was always little ambitious kid that cared more about famiy and beauty (I want to become a makeup artist) not about grades. So...I have this coworker who is really fun and we hang out a lot at his house. We're really close because I was there for him and helping him with his addiction recovery. When his mother would leave the country, would stay over with him in his mother's stead. I would help him do his chores and sometimes voluntarily wash the dishes myself because of boredom and his clothes at his house. I have know him for about a year and his mother and I talk a lot. She trusts me to watch over him. I practically the only person she trusts. They have a maid in twice a week and an "ironer". When I come over I stay for like 8 hours or spend the night. I asked him if his mother has any issues with me and he said that she thinks that I don't really help out much, as if their house is a vacation house. Should I be doing chores for free when they are paying people? I'm confused.

My mom is expecting half of my paycheck. Am I selfish for not wanting to give it to her anymore? Here's my situation: I just got my first paying job a couple of months ago. I work minimum wage, so I'm not left with a whole lot after taxes. My mom is currently unemployed, has been for the past few years. We just moved here so my brother and I got a job to help pay the bills, but now that my brother and I pay for everything she doesn't really feel the need to go out and get a job. I didn't mind splitting the bills with my brother, but I started to get really frustrated after a few months, especially when I'd come home late at night and she didn't make dinner or go grocery shopping or anything really. I pay her rent, utilities, car payments, car insurance, gas, food... I spend the majority of my time at my boyfriends house and plan on moving in with him. Only problem is my mom isn't looking for a job. I told her how I felt and how I can't put a dime away and she responds by telling me that I'm so ungrateful and a terrible daughter. In the past 4 months I've managed to save $200. How am I supposed to start my life if I'm paying for her to live hers? What bothers me the most is that she's not even trying to find a job, I'm so frustrated with the situation. Should I feel guilty for wanting to move out and stop paying her bills? I was thinking about moving out and giving her a couple of months to find a job. Any ideas?

My cousin brought these tickets for a concert tomorrow. Tomorrow is friday and it's at 7pm, so I need to find a way to go to my cousins house. My dad is very stubborn and gets angry quickly, especially when you do something without his permission. (both my parents are abusive). And I really want to go to the concert that my parents dont know about tomorrow and my cousins will try and help me. But, my dad is overseas right now (he's coming back home tomorrow morning when im at school) and I'm deciding to call my dad and tell him I have a video project (which I dont but techinically, I will end up making the video) which I have to interview family and etc. My dads gonna say no (im pretty sure) and my cousins will show up to my house anyway so he's gonna get angry (oh, and me and my siblings aren't allowed any devices or any form of messages but we got this covered). Recently my step son moved in with us due to his mom not having room for him. She moved in with her parents. He doesn't like being over there. It's to crammed he says. So my dad and mom are divorced since I was one year old then my dad married my step mom when I turned two years old.... Now I'm 20 years old.. I remember when I was small my step mom would mistreat me behind my dad and I would always tell him and he would never believe me... We were on a cruise and had a dinner package but no drink package. We ordered about 5 cocktails total. Generally, they ask for our room key so they know which room were in. Our server forgot to transfer the drinks from the bar onto our check because he was swamped and I told her I was going to remind him. She told me "Let's just go and leave him a $10 tip". I was furious because that is just so morally wrong to me and I can't understand her logic because she was trying to get away with not paying. They did end up charging our room in the end and she's asking me why I'm upset but It's because she originally thought she was going to get away with it!

I am writing a story, and the main character is a fourteen-year-old girl who is adopted by one man (who is single, so she wouldn't really have a mom). I personally feel like I were adopted by someone, it would feel weird to refer to them as "Mom" or "Dad" in the beginning. It's not that I wouldn't respect them. I would just feel kind of strange. Also, would it make sense that she could just get used to calling him by his first name and he would be okay with that? It seems possible to me, but I was wondering if this is a somewhat normal thing or if I should reconsider the way I want my characters to reference each other. Thank you.

I'm a freshman in high school, and I'm really scared. I only have the rest of this week and 3 more days next week and school is over. My grades are TERRIBLE and I've been trying so hard to bring them up but I just can't. My mom and my step dad AND my sister are ashamed of me. They keep saying I'm never going to college or I'm never going to be successful. I switched schools in the middle of 1st semester, and all my sisters friends go to that school. So my mom said if we both get good grades we can go back to my old school next year, but my grades are bad. And I'm really scared my sister is going to hate me and the rest of my family after they see my grades. I'm also scared that I wont graduate and I'll be homeless when I'm older because I failed freshman year. Also that my mom and my step dad are going to yell at me, and its really terrifying when they yell. I always dread when they start talking about grades because I know it will remind my mom to look at them and then she'll yell at me. She has already taken my phone away for my grades and its been taken away for the entire semester. I just can't seem to bring up my grades no matter how hard I try. My aunt is not my mother and isn't expected to love me unconditionally so I am not going to try to explain it to her. But how do I get my Mom to see this. It has this effect like alcoholism or suicide do. For example, my family is left out of Christmas because my Mom hates my aunt and my aunt hates my Mom. My aunt hosts so we are left out even though my grandmother visits us still in the morning. This is just one of many examples of the ripple effect this feud has. PLEASE ADVISE

My mom has been married to my stepdad for around 4 years now and they have 2 kids together, my 6 year old brother and 5 year old sister. I have full siblings who are 20 and 22 and they no longer live with us. My mom has a strong hatred toward my dad, even though they were divorced and my dad died from medical issues when I was 8 and I'm 17 now. The only reason why she wants me to be adopted by him is so she can erase my dad from my birth certificate. My dad had custody of my two older siblings when he was still living and they were already over 18 by the time my mom and stepdad were able to try and have them adopted. My brother (the 22 year old) lives in New York with his wife and infant daughter and my sister (the 20 year old) lives in Arizona and only contact me through social media every once in a while. Can I stop him from adopting me? I live in Louisiana with my mom, step dad, and half siblings if this any help with info.

I'm only 13 so there isn't much I can do. She can't leave him because he pays the bills because she can't keep a job. She's a heavy alcoholic who denies treatment because she doesn't want it. She uses alcohol as a coping skill for the death of her sister and dad and everyone else that died that she loved (also for her 5 past miscarriages) But that's not the point. We had a really annoying nanny who kept telling me to learn how to take care of my brother(to make her job easier) because I needed to have kids some day because my husband would not take care of them. I told her jokingly that perhaps my wife would do all the work. After she gave me a weird look, I explained I was gay. After her work day was over she told my mom she won't work for us anymore. My mom, who said she understood when I came out, started screaming at me and yelling that I ruined all her hard work. She told me people would talk and ruin our reputation and I should stop "making everything about me". She told me she's cutting off my phone plan and everything else and that I should just live on the street. I didn't know the nanny would react this way and I told my mom this. But I can't apologize to her because this is who I am. I didn't mean for her to leave and I really don't know what to do.
