Hi my big brother who is 15 is smoking weed and I just found out when I went outside to tell my brother that he had to come home because it was past 11:00 at night and I saw him with his friends at the skatepark and there was a light like a lighter or a match and then there was a weird smell and I think I saw smoke so I came over and he was smoking because I flashed my light at him and his eyes were red I am so sad that he became so stupid like this because now I know he's doing drugs :(

I know, I know, I'm gonna get people saying "ohh but she's your mom!! She knows better" and if you're gonna say that, I don't need it. So, I'm 13 and my mom makes comments about what I wear. I don't wear anything skimpy or inappropriate, I wear pretty normal clothes! Now, my mom has a totally different style than me. She has worn all black her whole life. Actually, so does the rest of my family, and they're not the problem. It's my mom. Anything I wear, she tells me stuff like "oh I don't like that" or "isn't it too cold for that?" It can be 90 degrees and she will still say that. It's honestly so annoying. I don't know why she makes comments!! So that's with clothes. Also she just makes comments about my style. My style is kinda girly kinda tomboy. she just makes comments about everything!! Now to my hair, she's not against hair dye and stuff, it's the colors I wanna do. I used to dye my hair pink (streaks) in second grade. She was fine with that and actually wanted me to do more. Now that I'm older, i want blonde streaks. When I told her that she said "why not blue or pink? Blonde?? I don't wanna do that" I just don't understand why I can't have my own style!! Anyone have any ideas how I can just get her to accept I'm different than her and wanna wear different things? It's just so annoying.

I am currently 20 years old and my parents are Muslim and from Egypt. They will not let me go out and make friends. They say they are worried that people will hurt me, but I think they just want to keep me at home so I don't have sex, since it's bad to have pre-marital sex. I think it's abnormal for my age not to have any friends. I even talked about making friends at a university I am going to this fall, but they just said no and to focus on my studies because people are out there to hurt me. All the people I know are out having a good time. Going to parties, clubs, concerts, bars, or anything else! I just want to be normal and enjoy my time. I am usually home bound during the weekends and summer, and have been forever! Another issue is dating. My parents want an arranged marriage for me and have asked family members to find someone for me, or go back to Egypt and get married. I would rather date than have an arranged marriage. It's an outdated idea here in America to have an arranged marriage, and everyone is dating! I was also thinking when I start going to the university this fall to start dating. The reason they don't want this is because it's considered a bad relationship which may lead to sex. They just want to find a guy that fits their wants and needs. They also don't think I have the capability or wisdom to date. They also don't want me marrying a Jewish or Christian man, since it's considered bad. I just want to live a happy, normal life within my control! Also, I am not allowed to move out until I am married. Makes things more difficult because I would have more freedom and choices.

My mom tries to make my life a living h^ll. If I have a friend over my mom will cuss at both of us. Once she made my friend to scared to go downstairs from my room. I have to say sorry to them for my moms (and sister, wont even get to into that) behavior. She also tells me "looks matter", and that my hair always looks horrible. On mothers day my baby sister was acting up and she told me that I ruined mothers day. She also calls me a b^tch, bratt, ungrateful, and annoying. I always contact my dad asking him if I can live with him and he says yes and picks me up but the next day I'm here. My mom also snaps at me continuously and she tries to act nice if I cry to just call me a name a few minutes later. I'm on the verge of tears from writing this because of how much it hurts. Also if my little sister hurts me like kicking or scratching me and I shout at her to stop I get in trouble and my sister gets icecream while im bleeding or bruising up. I still love her and I don't think I have enough reasons to call CPS or something, and even if I did I love my mom to much. What should I do?? (P.S.: I'm eleven ._.)

My friends- Both girls- Try and act like my son's second parents. Not is a sweet way, in a "you have no right to try and make that decision for my son" way. No kids of their own. I like them, but when it comes to my son, I can't stand them. They live a few minutes away, and BARELY see him. They more 'talk' about how much he means to them, and how much they love him, but their actions say otherwise. They have known about his party since he was born, but hated our idea because it was outside during summer time. A few months ago they made plans during his birthday, and tried to get us to cancel our plans and "tag along with them so they could be with him on his birthday, and THEY would throw a party for him" Of course I said NO. Now that they missed his birthday last week and are back in town, they are acting like they are SO sad and depressed that they missed such a big milestone and how they cried because they 'couldn't make it' (Their plans were VERY changeable, and something they CHOSE to do. Not something understandable like visiting family). Now they are asking us if they can throw him their own party. (A party, not just their house for cake and gifts). Which would most likely involve THEIR family and friends (I have no family near by). And I feel like, what I did for his birthday, was his celebration. To me, they CHOSE not to be there. (I didn't throw him a party, just spent the day at an outdoor kid center and took him to an aquarium and a movie.) They didn't like my celebration idea, and told me how stupid it was for months. So it kind of feels like "You do your thing, and we will throw him a REAL party when we get back." I know I do not want them to throw him a party. What we did for him was our plan from the beginning and he had a BLAST! But I also don't know if this is a normal feeling for first time mommy's? I have been thinking about his first birthday since I found out I was pregnant. I just hate the fact that someone thinks they can just come in and try to take over and give him something 'better'. But am I overreacting? I would rather have some other opinions before I tell them yes or no =) The reason I stated they are both girls, is because when writing this it seems odd that someones husband would be this obsessed with someones child. Females are generally drawn towards children:) But with them, it feels like they are always trying to take over. Questioning my choices, trying to give me advice on things I don't need. They have no kids, so their advice comes from no where! Just babies from family they never see.

I'm 27 and feel my whole life I put others before me and taken care of everyone else. I finish college in 5 month's and was thinking of just packing and moving away from my family. I love them but feel I can't grow around them or be happy. My dad has done a lot for me He's single and I don't want to leave him alone but I would be happier else where. Last summer I kept my three kid cousins, all girls, until the new school year. They could not create a game of pretend, or even copy a show and be their favourite characters. They asked me to make a game for them. So, I did and I wrote it down, created their characters, background characters, settings, backstories, and all of that. Everytime they met a point where they didn't know where the story should go, they would come to me to make it up for them. At the time, they were 8,8 and 10. I thought showing them that writing stories is just as good as playing make believe, it might make them want to write or draw out their stories. I'm an animator and I play around with stories and their devlopment on my own time. Creating characters and their lives is literally my life. I thought I was helping them, but they still can't think for themselves. Do you see this in other children?

My 19 year old sister is doing good. I'm proud of her. She pays for her stuff she goes to college. But my mom is single with two younger kids and she works 2 jobs struggling to pay for everything. My Dad went to a military school his father took great pride in him attending (his father was a perfectionist). My Dad was expelled for stealing alcohol with some friends. That was November of 1974 and my father kept rebelling at home. On October 12 of 1975 his father committed suicide and had been depressed. So was my Dad a contributor in his father's suicide and if so should his sisters be able to file wrongful death suit against him? My Dad didn't actually shoot his father, his father did that himself, but my father was the force that pushed his father's depression far worse as my Dad was the only surviving son. Another son had drowned at age 3. My Dad's sisters, my step-mother says, have always blamed him and I recall my mother saying this also. They have virtually no relationship other then cordial exchanges at weddings and funerals. I did learn from my step-mother that my Dad was mentioned in his father's suicide note.

I'm 15 years old, freshman in highschool. It's not my best interest to move schools during highschool but either way I have to. My dad only lives about 15 minutes away from where I am now so if I moved in there I could see my friends more often than if I moved in with my mom, and I already know some people where my dad lives. She comes home from work almost everyday in a horrible mood, I do my chores everyday because she texts me what to do but she'll always find one more thing when I get home even after do what she told me to do she'll yell at me, call me lazy, blame it on me. Even though they got in arguments all the time over things like I'm going through now. Anyways he moved in again last summer and my mom let him take over my room and my bed WITH his girlfriend every night.

I drove him to drink with my behavior and my Mom keeps saying the more I make up for it the more likely he will get help but all I do to make up isn't working. Now my Mom resents me. Hi I'm a 15 year old who's in 9th grade, and I'm not sure how to handle my family. I get straight Bs with a couple of As on my report card, and my parents yell at me for that and take away all of my video games. They say that I can get them back when summer vacation starts. My older brother who came back from his first year of college about 2-3 weeks ago, he snitched on me for finding a cable to plug in to my ps4 and play it behind my parents back. (I only play for about an hour) I don't know what my punishment for that is going to be since it just happened and they just sent me to my room for now. Im 17. Ive been dating my current girlfriend for 2 years. She is black and my family is white. My parents have made the two years extremely difficult by preventing me from seeing her for reasons that are just petty and shouldn't matter. So the apartment where I live is in my name and my moms she doesn't support me I buy my own food clothing etc and pay the rent. And I have the internet and light in my name. So more of the bills are in my name. So I had put up a security camera while I'm at work and today I had finally caught my moms boyfriend coming into my room heading straight for my closet. I don't know why but I have been missing clothing from my closet. Should I beat his azz or have him pay more rent this is getting ridiculous already. I sent the image of him coming into my room and sent it to my mom she has yet to respond or speak to me? What should I do? Should I tell him I'll call the cops on him for theft?

This might sound like im trying to be edgy or whatever, but it's not the case. So, since i was a little kid (im 17 now) my parents have been making me anxious. They are both teachers. My mom is super strict about school. For example, when i was around 2 she used to sent me to english class for small children (idk why). His visitation is whats causing problems...I have to live my life around his schedule as it changes week to week and I never know in advance when he's going to see his dad or what time or anything. It could be wed and thurs or fri and sat or wed and sun or a few hours here or there...some overnights... I'm getting a petition to modify the visitation..but what do I do in the meantime? I am literally sick over this... my son is going to need trauma counseling as a result of what is going on I just need some advice...I cant afford a lawyer.

So, I was out with my friend and her mom comes up to me and starts talking to me. I'm politely responding to her questions and tell her about my home life, how i have a sister etc. and it turns out that she works in the same school as my sister (Who looks white, I do not) so...the Mom gives me a disgusted face and says "Oh is she the same coloring as you?" It was very strange.

I'm a 23 years old man in the final year of university and I'm also the youngest son in my family. I feel depressed right now, mainly because of my Mother's behaviour. My Mom is way to protective to me, even when I'm 23 years old. She doesn't let me do my own things. She doesn't even let me hang out with my friends when I don't have anything to do (say, I rarely hang out at Saturday night). The only chance I get to hang out with my friends are on university only. But, here's what I find weird. She doesn't take my bussiness seriously. She always want me to accompany her to her own bussiness yet she doesn't take my bussiness seriously. Let me give you an example, I injured my left foot in an accident and my Doctor wants me to meet up with him at 8 AM. I still can go out to the doctor all by myself, but she wants to accompany me. But, she didn't make herself ready at 8 AM. All she did was...sitting in the couch and cleaning her room (for the record, she rarely do it, we have a maid on our house) until we met the doctor at 11 AM. I feel so depressed right now, what should I do? I love my Mom but her "double personalities" really made me feel depressed. All I want is just a little space.
