Question: Abusive Stepdad or Do I Deserve it? Posted: 11 May 2017 01:25 PM PDT Hi, I'm 15. My father died 3 years ago in early 2014, a new man moved in not even a month later to sweep my Mom off her feet. He was always condescending and insulting towards me, I don't blame him for this period, I was a very mean and angry person at the time. I ignored him up to 7 months, not saying a word, not even looking at him. It wasn't until they sent me to a mental hospital I was forced to speak to him. (I was sent because of suicidal tendencies.) For the time after that it was an off-and-on thing. Sometimes we were friendly and joking around, but once I messed up in the slightest, it was back to the crying, insults, and yelling. After a while he threatened to hurt me and even kill me. I didn't know what to believe since my mother promised me when he moved in that she would kick him out if he ever hurt me. Fast forward to late 2016, I was failing school and falling back into depression. I wouldn't take a shower this one day and it's when it all started. He came into my room, grabbed me by the arm with a really tight grip, dragged me to my bathroom door and slammed my head against it. That's only the beginning, basically every time I get hit it gets more severe and more frequent each time. The last time was about a week ago where we were getting into an argument, I threw a chair (didnt hit them) to let out anger and he started beating me, I got a mild concussion, bruises, and a headache for days. I don't want to be taken from my mom, I love her, what do I do? |

Posted: 11 May 2017 11:16 AM PDT Does a parent have to like their child once the child is an adult? This aunt loves her other two kids but resents the least good of the three. She works to get others to dislike the daughter as well. Is this okay since the child is an adult child? |

Question: Why are most older siblings so "mean" to their younger siblings (honest answers)? Posted: 11 May 2017 10:23 AM PDT I'm the oldest of 2 and I love my little brother but at times we do tease each other. We pick on each other. That's what brothers and sisters do. Like when I babysit him, he doesn't wanan listen and it's very hard to be nice so I end up being mean to him. When mom and dad leaves me in charge, I tell him he needs to listen to me. He doesn't so I have to get really tought on him. He eventually listens. One time I smelled cigarette and it was comming form his room. I knock on his door and asked what the he'll is that smoke and he said none of my business. I barged into his room he was like, "You can't just barge into my room! You're not mom and dad get out!!" I was like, "I know you're not smoking! THAT WAS YOURS! The one I GOT BLAMED FOR!!!!!! Because of YOU I got in trouble. You shouldn't be smoking that. What the hell is wrong with you?! Who gave this to you?" he refused to tell me and I was like, "FINE then you are going to tell mom and dad!" I stormed out and slammed his door. Mom and dad got after him for it. I'm his big sister. I'm SUPPOSE to be up on something like this. I'm not going to let him get away with it. Sure I was "mean" to him and harsh but it was for a good reason. Even though I can't stand him sometimes, I love him. I'm 16 and he's 11. Is being "mean" a good thing sometimes? Why am I so mean? |
Question: My dad automatically makes me depressed? Posted: 11 May 2017 10:07 AM PDT like the thought of him makes me depressed and angry. i don't even wanna know why hes so mean to me anymore. it's been lasting for TOO long and i cant take it anymore. im just not gonna see him anymore. and don't give me those ******* answers like ''my fathers dead you should love him'' whatever i dont give a damn about your father. this is a ******* a q&a site. and if i seem mean it's because i've been getting so many bullsh!t answers |

Posted: 11 May 2017 09:08 AM PDT My mother alienated me from my father growing up for no cause but her anger. My Dad had wronged my mother, but NOT ME. She punished me for his wrongdoing. Luckily my mother died when I was 16 of a brain aneurysm and so I was able to get close to my Dad and have remained so ever since. So should a mother who is abusive like mine be jailed for using their kid as a weapon against their ex like my mother did? Saddest part is my mother was otherwise a good mother and a good person, yet I remember her as toxic because she did this to me. |

Question: I m not allowed to have a dog :(? Posted: 11 May 2017 08:44 AM PDT Hi, I m Karina. My biggest dream is to have a dog but my parents have had dogs and they know the "truth" about having one . They say that I m just gonna leave my dog for them and they have to take care of him. BUT they don t understand that I don t have many friends and I have nothing to do in my life. I have been trying many things from the internet almost my whole life. My dad kinda agrees with my and I see when he s heartbroken when he sees me crying. My mom is the rude one, she talks as loud as she can from the kitchen just so I can hear her rambling about me not understanding how bad the dog smells and how its gonna destroy our home. I forgot to say that I have a cat but he sleeps all the time and I love him but... I really want something more active. She tells dad that he does not have to worry because im not dumb and I understand that the dog and my cat, Donut, won t get along. BUT I know my cat i know what he does he s not like that. I have told my parents all of this ( and done ) : 1. I drew a realistic dog ( the one I want to adopt) 2. I wrote them a note. 3. I cried 4. I do my homework and my chores, EVERYTHING 5. Many other things.. I just don t understand. Mom says "you ll get one when your older" AND IT ANNOYS ME. ALL my friends have dogs, some of them have literally zoos in their homes. All the videos on utube are not helping me and I have almost lost all hope. My mom and I were like fighting some hours ago so i m ready to piss her off more. I will try anything I don't know what happened to the title. Just ignore it and it'll be fine :) |

Question: Underwear getting holes? Posted: 11 May 2017 08:25 AM PDT So I have this embarrasing moment of mine when one of my classmates and it's a boy go in our house. He goes to the dining room where we also put our laundry at sides and my underwear was there hanging. I don't know he's in the house that time because Im upstairs and will just go downstairs to eat, bath etc. He's also allowed to go into our house since our house was so close. My family also knows him. Back to the story, when I go to school I heard him saying " She got a holes in her underwears " At first I don't know that it was me eventhough I know that my underwear were getting holes. Until I saw him in our kitchen(next to our dining room) and playing in his phone. I quickly went upstairs and thought about hanging my underwear upstairs. How to prevent this? And Where's the best spot to hang underwears without people seeing it? |
Question: Why are we still shocked when the "perfect" family turns out to be broken? Posted: 11 May 2017 08:01 AM PDT Every Time on tv shows/News when someone gets murdered or some shocking revelation just came out in the open. The families neighbors/ family friends are always like. " They were the perfect family , they were always so friendly." But shouldn't we know by now that no family is perfect and the ones who try so hard to appear perfeect in public are terrible behind closed doors? P.S. This is not about my family or a family I know, Since my family is pretty ****** out in the open. |
Question: Girls simple question? Posted: 11 May 2017 07:58 AM PDT I been dating this 28 year old girl for about 4 months. She just lost her job and is currently looking for a new job. Her 6 year old kid is about to get kicked out of private school if she can't come up with $2500 by next month. She's been late on the payments. Lately I been helping her out financially here and there since she got fired. I'm 25 and I make over a 6 figure income a year but I sure wasn't making a 6 figure income years ago while I worked at wal mart as a cashier. Mortal of the story is I will always be cheap with my money no matter what since I started from the bottom but also this is also an emergency type thing. If you we're in my shoes would you pay the $2500???? |
Question: Household/family issues? Posted: 11 May 2017 07:36 AM PDT So, I need your opinion guys. Lately things at home have been out of place. To start off my father and I have never had a strong relationship due to his angry issues and his prior drinking problem when I was younger. He stopped drinking a few years ago but continues to have an angry issue due to stress and family issues like my younger brother having a drug issue and my other brother coming out. My mother is a stay at home mother and to be honest does whatever my father tells her to do which aggravates me!! There are times when he speaks to her in a bad tone and I cannot take it and confront him about it but then it all falls under an arguing game and I am wrong for that according to him. I get called horrible names like whore, *****, I'd wish you die, I will never help you when you're in need and he tells me to leave the house. This has been going on for my whole life and the thing is that he will act that way and then act like nothing happened the next day. I am left feeling hurt and sometimes feel bad for the things that I have also said to him. Well the point of this is that I have always attended school and lived home and right now I am strongly thinking of moving out of my home because I cannot take it anymore. If I were to move out I will not be able to continue finish my bachelor's degree due to financial issues but if I continue to live at home I will be under the same ongoing situation. |
Question: Why does my mom keep nagging on me to quit smoking when i only smoke four cigars a year? Posted: 11 May 2017 07:02 AM PDT Its not like it effects her. I like a occasional cigar when im out fishing or hunting. She doesn't even have to deal with second hand smoke because she doesn't hunt or fish. |
Question: I hate my boyfriend's dad SO much!! Desperately need advice.? Posted: 11 May 2017 05:09 AM PDT Ive been with my boyfriend for 3.5 years. We are graduating college. His dad has been controlling his whole life that his mother divorced him, and his brother wants nothing to do with him. He is now re married and things recently took a turn for the worst. He recently took a trip last week with his wife and step children whom is our age and didn't even invite his own children. My boyfriend said it hurt his feelings and his dad flipped out on him. He recently just said he's not allowed to come home after graduation and told him that he will not be attending BECAUSE HE SIGNED A LEASE WITH ME (starting in the fall) !!! He doesn't want him to move out so he's taking away everything and threatning him. Calling me names and him names saying "what are you going to do without me?" It makes me sick. Any advice on how to talk to him to stop putting him with his BS? Because his dad still calls him several times a day and my bf still talks to him like a drill sergeant. (His dad is a cop) |
Question: How do I get my sister to stop abusing our parents with her words (she is 22)? Posted: 11 May 2017 04:58 AM PDT |
Question: How do I convince my Dad to give up alcohol (he is an alcoholic)? Posted: 11 May 2017 04:57 AM PDT Mom says I am responsible as his son to get him to quit and she is mad I have not been able to yet. She blames me everytime he is drunk since I am the only son (I have two sisters) so feels it is my job to fix him. I tell her I can't and give her all the Al-Anon literature and then she gets mad I went to Al-Anon and shared he is an alcoholic. I am 23 and cannot fix him, she says I must. He has been this way for over ten years. One of my sister's says the same "he is an alcoholic because our brother won't help him". So is there some magic way to convince an alcoholic to stop drinking like my brilliant mother (sarcasm) says? She is going to drive me to drink after all I am blamed like I am the drinker. |

Question: How do I cope with the silence? Posted: 11 May 2017 03:12 AM PDT I have been with my partner 8 years and we have a beautiful 4 year old girl. We love each other but there is no affection, intimacy etc. I presume this is pretty normal after the timescale and the fact we both have demanding jobs. He is quite a quiet person and very laid back until he has a drink and then he becomes chatty and more upbeat. Unfortunately he can also become quite nasty and argumentative too which is where the problems are. He isn't very motivated and needs to be reminded to do normal day to day things which he sees as me 'nagging'. He seems to bottle the little things like this up for weeks and then it comes out in an eruption of anger when hes had one too many drinks. We had an episode on Friday night and basically I was in bed, he came in and just started verbally abusing me, saying the most horrendous things. I was asking him to keep his voice down so he didn't wake my daughter and he got very nasty and I was terrified. This went on for about half an hour and I even called his Dad and brother asking them to come and get him as he was out of control (I have never had to do that before). I couldn't calm him down so I ended up putting my daughter in the car at midnight and driving to my mams. On Saturday I asked him to leave and take his things as i had had enough of going through this every couple of weeks, he left, went to his brothers and I haven't heard anything other than a text on Tuesday asking if I could get my daughter to call him. What do i do now? |
Posted: 11 May 2017 02:00 AM PDT I can understand we haven't talked for about a month. But anyways, my dad said there was pizza in the room my brother was in, but he told my dad not for me not to come in there. I asked my brother why, and I got ignored. And I said **** it I'm going in there because my dad told me to get pizza. Then nothing happened, but later that day I was talking to my dad. And my brother busted in the room I was silent, so I said nothing and he walked away. My idea is that he came in the room to check what was going on, but at the same time to start a fight. Basically, how should I react next time I see my brother. |

Question: I am worried that my future kids won't get to know their grandpa? Posted: 11 May 2017 12:47 AM PDT My dad is 57 and I am 22. I am worried that he will not get to see them graduating high school or college. Am I overreacting? I lost my grandma on memorial day 2016. |
Question: Technically speaking, are we in our fathers before we're in our mothers? Posted: 11 May 2017 12:44 AM PDT Everyone starts out as a sperm which means we're our dad's sperm at the begining so our fathers carries us before our mothers. So our physical existence actually begins in our father's body when he was in pur grandmother's womb. |
Question: Living with parent .? Posted: 11 May 2017 12:25 AM PDT Recently I moved back in with my mom, I thought it would be okay because I'm living at my sisters to. No I don't have enough to live on my on right now, it sucks I know but anyways she has really been demanding and just rude I think it's because my brother and his wife lives here too and she's being like weird. So anyways I smoke my mom knows my aunt came to visit one weekend and I was outside smoking and she started that demanding rude ****, I'm 23, btw so I was just so annoyed like I felt like crying. how do I fix this because I seriously rather figure out where I'm going to stay then to stay here another day. It's like guilt trips and I'm tired of pretending like this doesn't bother me. |

Question: Boyfriend's family doesn't invite me to things? Posted: 10 May 2017 11:18 PM PDT My boyfriend and I have been together for over 2 years and are in the process of moving in together, our relationship is very serious and committed. In all the time that we've been together I've never met his mom's family, including his grandma, and have never been invited to any of their events. I've met his dad's whole family and they've gone out of their way to include me (his parents are divorced so the families are completely separate) and my family has likewise gone out of their way to include my boyfriend as part of the family. I've met his mom but I've gotten the feeling she's jealous of me or see's me as taking him away from her (he's her only kid and she really doesn't have any friends besides him and her own mother). The only interaction I've had with his mom's family was his aunt randomly blowing up on me on Facebook for a political post. I find this very weird because I come from a family that is very inclusive of people's partners and I know my grandma would be downright upset if I had been dating someone as long as we have without introducing her to him. I know his cousins have brought their SO's to Christmas with them in the past and it was no big deal so I can't help but feeling that its personal. I've brought it up to my boyfriend, he's doesn't think it's his place to ask them to invite me and doesn't see it as a big deal. I think he's just scared of confronting them cause he's socially awkward. What should I do? |
Question: I hate my dad ? I wish he was gone? Posted: 10 May 2017 11:06 PM PDT Okay so he has always been an unreasonable, short-tempered, misogynistic, selfish, man and I just can't take him anymore. He always calls me names and teases me and uses me to show off to his side of the family to let them know that he is doing all the right things but that's just an act. Him and my mother are still together but they shouldn't be because my father cheated on my mom but she forgave him which I don't understand why?? I haven't forgave him for that nor will I ever (i have my reasons) Anyways I'm pretty sure he keeps cheating on her and she is too oblivious to see that. Not only is he a cheater he is also abusive. He has hit my mom on a couple of occasions and has hit me as well and he never apologizes and he continues on like nothing happened. I'm leaving to college in the fall this year and the only reason I'm leaving is because he has driven me to that decision, even though I can commute everyday. I hate him so much and I can't even cut him out of my life yet because he is the one who will pay for college. But after college when I get a job I will cut him off. I don't want my kids in the future to have a grandfather like that, he is too toxic to be around. I wish he was out of my life but if he were to be gone right now I know my mom could not survive nor will I because we depend on him for expenses and all that. I hate that we depend on him, it makes me feel like I owe him something. I wish he weren't my father but unfortunately he is. What should I do? |

Question: Do you think that people are being sexist here? Posted: 10 May 2017 09:38 PM PDT If Kim Kardashian or any other famous person posts an "inappropriate" photo of their daughter, people immediately start bashing on them and talking about how they need to protect 3 year olds from adult perverts out there. However, if it's a photo of a boy of the same age, no one calls it inappropriate or bad. Instead everyone just thinks it's cute. I see this in non-famous everyday parents too. When someone hears the words "child exploitation", they mostly imagine a little girl involved. If a picture is inappropriate, wouldn't it be inappropriate for both genders? Kim's daughter wouldn't be more vulnerable than her son when it comes to sexual assault and pedophiles. In fact, she is two years older than him. But how come people only worry about her daughter's safety whenever they're on the media? Does it have to do with the fact that she's a little girl and her brother is a boy? |

Question: Should my mother hate me because ive failed at life? Posted: 10 May 2017 08:13 PM PDT i dont do any thing to upset her,i would walk past by & she curses me, throws things at me she mumbles unpleasant things at me, which deeply hurts. even though shes a every sunday 'christian' i hate absolutely hate the religion because of her (not god) i cant really rent because its way to expensive and ive tried reconciling back but she im 25, life wasnt kind to me: as far as i can remember my fondest memory of me is being molested from a relative of the same sex. i have never told my parents about this although i think they know the story from word of mouth. home life wasnt pretty either, my parents fought and even have given me sever beatings like my dad beating me till i bled, mom emotionally killing me, even to this day. in school, both students & teachers ridiculed me, which didnt help me acquire that underdog tv success story. BELIEVE ME I HAVE TRIED TO RE-ATTEMPT GCSEs 6TIMES and failed them. so i wont be returning anytime soon which greatly depresses me. my cousins have success stories of being engineers, successful young entrepreneurs, and me? I feel lower than dirt. my relationships with women just collapsed, all the women ive been with just loved me and walked out my life. i dont know what to do think im going through a crisis or something ive tried reconciling but she wont listen and continues to be in that miserable state, and i dont have a car |
Question: How can I get to see a doctor on my own? Posted: 10 May 2017 07:56 PM PDT She says I'm still a child (I'm 16) and that I'm not allowed to see a doctor on my own because they might try to hurt me if she's not there. She's reads all these horror stories about doctors who call CPS for no reason just because they don't like homeschooling or something and try to trick kids into saying incriminating things. She's also real big on how I have to trust her and tell her everything and would probably punish me if I said I didn't want her in the room (because it would mean I was hiding things from her). My problem is I think I'm depressed, and I think it has a lot to do with how she acts with me. She'll take me to see a psychiatrist - as long as she stays in the room the whole time. If they won't let her back there, she figures they're a bad doctor and trying to take advantage of us and won't let me see him. I'm also not allowed out unless she can verify who I'm with and where I'm going, and I must have adult supervision. Is there anything I can do? I'm not being abused or anything, she just yells a lot and talks to me like I'm this horrible kid who hates her and is going to end up in jail if I take 10min longer to do a chore than she thinks I should. If I said in front of her that I couldn't open up with her in the room, she's refuse to ever take me back to that doctor unless he allowed her to stay in the room. And she'd punish me for trying to hide things from her. |
Posted: 10 May 2017 07:37 PM PDT She says if he'd wanted to be our father he would have stayed with our mother (her). I am afraid to ask him if he loves us or I will start a fight. She says he might love us but doesn't want to be our Dad. He does still see us every other weekend so it is not like he disappeared. However, she says he doesn't want to be our Dad even if he loves us some. Another time she said he does not love us because he doesn't love anyone but that he might like us. I am so nervous by all this and afraid he will leave us. I am only 12 so I am usually not on here but I am marking it anonymous since Mom asks us to when we use this. Please answer. Thanks and if your a prayer person please pray my Dad will love me if he stopped and will keep loving me if he does. |
Question: Should I give my sister a chance? Posted: 10 May 2017 07:36 PM PDT It's a long story, but I will try to shorten it up. My sister an embarrassment to be related to. She met a guy when she was 15 (I was 13), who was a 23, and addicted to cocaine. She got herself addicted, and pregnant. Our mother tried to make her have an abortion, and she refused. She stole a chunk of money from our parents, and ran away (at 16!). The 'love of her life' did not go with her, nor did he even know she was pregnant. 15 years later, she came back after our father died. None of us had seen or heard from her since she left. She had a 15 year old daughter, who was/is a sweetheart. She seemed to be doing amazing. She was a waitress, hadn't touched alcohol or drugs since she left, and it was honestly like I had my sister back. She moved home permanent. But, she met up with her ex. She was still madly in love with him. And, she fell back into her old habits. This time, she had a daughter who was very close with her, and could not cope with her frequent overdoses and never home at night. She developed anorexia. My mother and I told Jasmine over and over what was happening to her daughter, but she wouldn't hear it. As long as her daughter said she was okay, my sister believed her. She got so sick that she landed in the hospital on life support. That was when I took my sister to court and got her parental rights taken, and a restraining order. I became the legal guardian of my niece. |
Posted: 10 May 2017 07:36 PM PDT The daughter would be my cousin. |
Posted: 10 May 2017 07:25 PM PDT I have asked her to stop but she hasn't. She says he does not love me because he loves alcohol, not me. This hurts when she says it and my Dad shows signs of loving me despite his drinking. If my Mom loved me she wouldn't say this. |
Question: What to do if My brother is freaking out on alchohol and adderrol? Posted: 10 May 2017 06:59 PM PDT He is 21 and he was at a party and I don't know what happened but the police called me and my dad down to pick him up. He was found drunkenly walking on the street, and he couldnt even talk straight in the car. When we got home my mom tried to talk to him and he flipped out, he was screaming angry things and then admitted he took 10 mg of alchohol (That's what he said, it could have been more) but we told him to go to bed and he didn't listen, my mom barely shoved him to go to bad and he fell to the floor crying like she punched him or something. He eventually went in his room, He is in there now. He never ever has acted like this before, even when he drinks you can barely tell. It's like he's a totally different person and I don't know what to do. I almost had an anxiety attack when it was all going down. I really need help with this. Thanks! |
Question: My sister is the laziest person ever? Posted: 10 May 2017 06:38 PM PDT My sister is 25 and I'm 16. She still lives at home, and doesn't work. She dropped out of college for seemingly no reason after trying to get an art degree. ALL she does every.single.day is play video games. ALL DAY. In the living room. If she's not on the TV, she's playing on her DS or phone. She stays up every night until like 4am, and sleeps until around 1pm, gets up and lays around all day. She wants to be a writer so she always uses writing as an alternative for getting a job or doing anything productive. She barely ever writes though and she writes fanfiction level stories. She shouldn't rely on her writing. We aren't a wealthy family at all. She's taking up what would be my brother's bedroom, so he has to sleep on a couch. Even though he's 12. My parents don't like being mean so they won't tell her to get her stuff together. MIGHT I ADD she is super socially anxious and never leaves the house, and she doesn't even like making phone calls. Whenever I mention looking for a job, going back to school, whatever, she says "Stop stressing me out!" and almost cries. She also has mild aspergers. She claims she has depression but honestly nothing has happened to her to make her be depressed, and she has a really easy life so I think it's an excuse. There are plenty of people with depression, anxiety, and they still work/move out/etc. She doesn't even help with chores around the house! Her room is a pigsty. Can anyone give me some tips or advice or anything? |
Question: Where should I hide my diary? Posted: 10 May 2017 06:05 PM PDT I am a 13 year old girl. My younger brother and sister are nosy (digs through my stuff), my mom will randomly take it upon herself to go in my room and look through my stuff and take stuff/lay stuff out freely (especially when she wants me to dress for an event), my dad doesn't go in my room let along go through my stuff. I just need a safe area to hide my diary. Where no one could find it, whether they were actually looking for it or just randomly came across it. Suggestions??? |

Question: How do I tell my granddaughter I'm stopping her gay marriage?!? Posted: 10 May 2017 05:17 PM PDT I'm a 68 year old grandmother of a 6 grandchildren. One of them is saying she's a lesbian (a homosexual sinner that is going to Hell) and wants to "marry" her partner of 3 years. I am actively doing everything I can to stop this sinful relationship along with all of the other ones in this world. I have written letters to our new moral leader, President Trump, along with my representatives to get a law on the books to forever ban gay "marriage." |
Question: I'm not happy with my family? Posted: 10 May 2017 05:11 PM PDT Everything's lost to me.. I'm a 16 y/o girl, and last year I just had low self esteem not because of looks or anything just because i felt like I was on the wrong track.. I thought I was so much happier like the old me this year but I'm always tense with my family and not comfortable. I live with my step mom and step sister who's the same age as me and then my brother who's 18 and my dad. There a new family of 4 and I'm left out, but that's okay. My step mom always come up with the dumbest excuses to take away my phone and we fight all the time and she's so so so harsh to me it makes me want to give up on everything..If you've met anyone who knows me they would say I'm a really sweet girl. Bc I'm really considerate and I treat everyone with respect but she's just so rude to me I want to leave |

Question: My aunt hates her daughter, how do I fix this? Posted: 10 May 2017 05:00 PM PDT She hates her daughter because her daughter is not as good as the other daughter or the son. The daughter does not shower the mother with praise like the mother (my aunt) wants. Rather the daughter is a normal kid with trust issues (daughter was adopted from China at age 2). The older daughter is perfect and praised like the Messiah and the son is biological from aunt's first marriage and a really good guy. The hated daughter is not perfect, but not bad at all. This has gone on for 3 years and before that was escalating over time. Hated daughter is 23. Loved daughter (the perfect one) is 20 and bio-son is 34. |
