I feel like as I get older I'm getting more picky, because I don't want to waste my time on meaningless, boring "friendships" with people I don't even like. I want to find friends that are like me and have similar interests and goals and ideas. But I can't seem to find anyone. Is there anything I can do? |

Posted: 07 Feb 2016 04:11 PM PST Tomorrow is my birthday and I will be 18 and since December I had been making plans because I was determined that this year wouldn't be like the past few years birthdays. For my 15th birthday I had to make my own party that no one had come to. My 16th birthday everyone forgot and I ended up going furniture shopping with my mom for her own room. And my 17th birthday my grandma sent me a little money and no one would do anything for me so I got a friend of mine to take me to eat where I proceeded to pay for myself. So this year I was super pumped to actually have a good birthday. I was going on a haunted tour of new Orleans, I was being taken out to eat by my friends and my boyfriend would take me ice skating. Well my mother (who doesn't like me in the slightest, she tells me I am a mistake and how i'm a disappointment) punished me yesterday and has taken away my phone my car and my birthday. I haven't eaten since and I have cried. I have become so depressed I don't know what to do with myself. How can I try to make tomorrow a little more bearable? Am I over reacting? What would you do in this situation? |

Im not really in a position to move cause Im out of work and have hud housing. I cant just take any job cause of a bad knee so that can limit me, same with volunteering, cant volunteer to get to do stuff with people for the same reason. Im going to school right now but not really making friends, just going to classes and doing what i need to do, school helps me a lot since i cant find work cause it gives me financial aid when im living on no income but that doesnt mean im making friends there. I live in an apartment building but that doesn't necessarily mean i have neighbors knocking on my door to visit, theyre knocking on everyone else's door, just not mine, not even on christmas or my birthday, spent both of them alone. even if i go to church I might get to talk to people there,but that doesn't mean theyre inviting me out or even to their homes for dinner or anywhere else for that matter, its like i'll go and go home and thats it, im starting to feel like i can get the same thing by just watching tv. i even switched churches just for a change of scenery only to go thru the same thing elsewhere. Im thinking maybe i wont even bother, if im going to be a recluse i might as well stay home and save me the effort. the thing is i grew up in a home where i was isolated and couldnt bring friends over and i feel like its being forced on me as an adult.any ideas |

I realize most people only get room mates if they're struggling to pay rent or are attending university and are staying in a dorm of some sort. But I primarily just want room mates for the fun of it. I've always loved the concept of some shows where people would live together and just have a good time because they want to. The new Facebook friend asked me who he was and I said that Nat which is his name is just a friend. So he friend requested Nat and asked him where he was from, where he lived and if he wanted to date me. I'm not currently dating any of these people so I'm not sure what's going on. |

And the first thing they'll say is, "You gonna go party all night long?" or "Don't drink too much tonight!" And they'll laugh and continue to make another joke relating to that. I don't know why, but hearing a guy say that annoys me. First of all, I don't party. I'd rather stay at home. Secondly, I don't drink because I've heard too many stories of people who end up doing crazy stuff while under the influence. It just irritates me. Like I'll even say, "I'm gonna stay at home and watch some disney movies or youtube" and it's like they don't believe me. They'll just laugh at me & continue to joke about me drinking or partying even though I've never done that in my life. |

Posted: 07 Feb 2016 03:51 PM PST Recently I went to my friends house and my other friend was there and she said I'm ugly and I noticed everytime she's around she always says something negative about my appearance. I get if someone is joking but now it's all the time and it's getting really annoying. I just pretend it doesn't bother me and she 'apologizes' but later my friend told me I have no ***, and yeah my butt isn't huge but it isn't flat (she literally has nothing there, so who is she to talk?) And my fat friends make fun of me for having small boobs (I'm 14 what do you expect?) And honestly I'm getting annoyed by it. All my friends always nitpick something about my body and I know I am not ugly (not trying to sound arrogant lol) and im on the skinny side but jeez they act like I'm a walking skeleton (not judging anyone k) so why are they always saying crap like this? Only one of my friends hasn't done that and all the guys I talk to never have negative things to say about how I look. The only thing I would consider a sport is what Julius Ceaser made his slaves do. Anyway, both my family and friends enjoy sitting there watching it, all the way through. I am not like that. I just watch the 1st quarter with my family and/or friends and eat the special meal they make every year. Then, I leave and wait til the half time show (if there is someone on there I know and/or like). Finally when that finishes, I leave again and wait til the end of the 4th. They are also friends with four other girls that are still my friends. We were like a friendship circle. I told the two that I felt like the backup friend and wanted out and that i didn't want to leave off bad (even though they ended up being really mad). They talk bad about me and i see them hanging with the other friends of mine on snapchat. Every time i try to plan a hangout on weekends with them they are already busy with the two girls and at school the two girls always take them away from my attention as much as possible. So the problem really is that because I'm not friends with two of my old friends, i can't hang out with any of the ones i still am friends with. How can i fix that? P.S. Only one friend and I still keep in touch. I'm about to graduate and in these past four years I have struggled with loneliness because I have been unable to make friends. I went to numerous events and tried to talk to people in all my courses, and the girls in my dorm building , but nothing worked. Since i'm almost finished, I am not trying to make friends anymore because I'll be headed back home soon enough. I have literally been in my dorm room all alone for most of these past four years. I already had social anxiety and this experience has made it far worse. I had my first panic attack last year and now even going to the grocery store stresses me out. My question is, how can I turn this around after graduation? how can I make friends and become less stressed and have less social anxiety for my future moving forward? I would like to meet new friends and I have also never dated and want to be able to date without my anxieties getting in the way. Thank you all. |

Now i live in another country and it is always me who Skypes her. She never takes the initiative to contact me..she doesn't remember my birthday and when I send her photos by whatsapp (to let her know what I'm up to), she never acknowledges them. She doesn't keep the conversation going. I sent her a lovely pic of myself with 2 girlfriends (they're really pretty and I'm ok..but not as pretty as them). She didn't even reply and the thing that's weird is that another friend wrote back and said 'lovely photo! seems like you're having fun'..you know, friendly! When I was last home, she introduced me to her new boyfriend. We went for lunch but he hardly engaged me in conversation and at a certain point, he said to me 'I understand you're an agnostic?' Then he launched into a reason to believe in God. (They're both religious..and my friend has now and again criticised my thinking). Another thing, she has often criticised my hair (it's long with honey coloured highlights). She can't grow her hair long and has been dying her hair blonde for years. She tells me my skintone doesn't suit the highlights (I had naturally dark brown hair). Strange thing is , everyone else loves it. I feel really hurt. Is this just not a real friend after all? I have it really good compared to a lot of people in the world; so I shouldn't be complaining. Anyways, I just.. I don't know. Everything in my life sucks. My friends treat me horribly never want to go out, my parents are always fighting, my brothers are rude. Not to mention the fact that I go to an all-girls Catholic school which, trust me, is excruciating. My grades aren't great. I have a 3.6 GPA which I'm content with, but my parents won't give me a break. I feel like my life is just a complete disaster right now and I rarely find myself being happy. A few months ago, I was happy with going out and doing things. But recently, I've just felt so down and only enjoy myself when I'm alone. Also, my friends suck. They are so sensitive and all they care about is studying. We've gone out maybe twice this whole year. And they also are constantly giving me **** for 'my disturbingly low GPA of a 3.6.' Like, oh, I apologize for getting grades that do not effect you at all! I guess I'm just asking how to get a fresh start in my life. It's the middle of my sophomore year of high school and I'm already miserable. I know I shouldn't be complaining, but it's just been a really crappy year and I need some advice. (Btw: There is no way in hell that my parents would let me switch schools.) I always say in my head, when things aren't going good, "To stay positive" and to "think about the future", but I keep on letting things get down on me. I definitely problems with confidence with pretty much alot of things. With my height, girls, and like my social life. I am extremely shy and awkward and I deeply regret this. I have my friends but I still act awkward with them. I am only close with one friend, but I never see him anymore because he goes to different schools but we try to hang out once a while. I stay grateful with my family because they always support me and I recently got accepted to 4 colleges and hopefully many more. I also take boxing to try to release stress and get in shape. I still struggle to try to be consistently happy I feel I struggle from the rest of other people with happiness. |

She was on whataspp with me, so it said for about 15 minutes she was online. But then around 2:45, it said last seen today at 2:45. So I had just assumed her phone had gotten taken. But then around 3:15, I had to send her a message and I got double blue ticks--which to my knowledge and experience means message read--but the last seen time has not updated. What does this mean? If she read it, then shouldn't the time be updated to show the app is open? I know she doesn't use Whatsapp plus, so that's out of the question. So it's 5 o'clock now, and I sent her another message, it's still says she hasn't been seen since 2:45. BUT, it came up as read. What's going on? If her dad's actually on Whatsapp, reading through the conversation but not responding would it do this? |

Well when they bullied me no one cared yet if I did the same thing back to them then all of a sudden the bullies who bullied me turned into the victims and somehow I was evil. So now if someone does something mean to me I just give it back worse than what they did to me and I don't care if it really hurts them. |

Posted: 07 Feb 2016 12:05 PM PST THE STORY: I m in a group of 6 best friends, but 3 of them keep meeting up and not even telling the rest of us. Then whenever I ask if we can do something those 3 make up exuses not to come and then they meet up- JUST THEM. So I haven t met up with any of them in months. At dancing and in school they always "forget" that I m there and leave without me (because the other 2 don t do dancing) and then they completely block me out and talk to literally everyone else. Some friends I have. 🐍🐍🐍 WHAT IM ASKING FOR IN THE ANSWERS: Don t even bother telling me to not be a bitc.h bc Im a teenage girl and that s what I do. There s no point trying to get me to back down and no I m not talking to them because trust me, I ve tried that before and it always gets turned around like its all my fault. I m not getting new friends either so don t even try. I want a way to get revenge, nothing to much that we completely fall out, but nothing too subtle so they can t see what s going on. theyre total bitches aswell. There are girls I sit by at lunch and girls I talk to in my classes, but I don't think they consider me close friends. I'm involved in a club and a sport at school, but all the girls I talk to in those already have their own groups. I'm trying to get more involved. Is it too late for me to make good friends? |

We've been friends for a long time. We connected over skype and such. But now, I checked skype to find this message: Stop communicating with this number immediately. This is the parents of the child who uses this phone. Any further communication and you will be reported to the police as we have your location. First of all, I don't feel comfortable with a 16 year old's parents knowing my location. Second of all, what the heck did I do? Did he skype me with his parents not knowing? | Posted: 07 Feb 2016 11:29 AM PST So, I'm a girl, I have this guy friend, and we were talking once, and he was getting cocky and saying stuff like: "Yeah, girls don't know what they're missing on by not watching porn, it's really great," blah blah blah. So, I just told him that I watch porn to shut him up. At first he didn't believe me but since, he has asked me lots of questions about it, and whenever I tell him something, he's like: "I'm screenshoting this." It kinda didn't bother me because I'm not that shy about this and I actually think it's stupid to keep the stereotype of women being prude, asexual and not watching porn going in the 21st century. I recently asked him if he has shown these screenshots to anyone, and he was like, no, but I have told my mom what you're doing. His mom is a family friend, I really don't know if I feel comfortable with her knowing that. I asked him if he was kidding and he said no. Still, it seems kind of weird that a 19-year-old boy would have conversations concerning porn with his mom. So, what do you think are the odds that he really told his mother? Or is he just messing with my head? |

I saw him with his friend in his car and when I got closer I saw him say something to his friend and as I got closer he stared at his phone smiling/ grinning and his friend was staring at me? What does this mean? What do you guys think he was telling his friend. A couple of times he has stared into my eyes about 6 seconds. We're not talking now because in the past I called him out on it because he made excuses to talk to me and I knew he had a gf. He told me how I should write a list of things that I am curious about and then read up on those things. He said that whatever I decide to do that make sure I'm really good at it and be original. Anyway the phone call made me feel good. It was late around 1:30 am but we stayed on the phone for an hour. |

Friends or family, I don't care, I will avoid going and planning if I can. But, I'm an only child and I will have to take care of my parents when they go. I already know my parents want to be cremated, that's all set up. What I don't know is, do I still have to have a funeral? My family is big and my parents have friends who are close as family and I know they will want to pay last respects to them. What would I have to do to make sure everyone got a chance to say good-bye? |

In high school I never hung out with my friends because that's just not how we rolled back then. In college, I to go to class, come back to my dorm and study or watch tv. The first semester I hung out with them a lot. We would hang out every weekend and have dinner together every day. But now in second semester, I just feel like I have too much on my plate. I am taking 6 classes, 16 credits; I have a lot of homework. Most of the time when they ask me to hang out with them on the weekend I decline because I feel that it's my two days to just relax and recover from the week of class and homework. I just want to hang out in my room and not go anywhere. Also, when I usually hang out with them, we literally don't do anything. We just chill; literally just lay on their beds, on the floor, sit on chairs. To me, I feel like instead of just sitting there doing nothing, I can do something else like the homework that is due next week, my laundry, clean up my room, or just watch a movie on my laptop in my own comfort. I also stopped sleeping over in their dorms because it's so uncomfortable. Two people sharing a twin size bed is not my cup of tea. I tell them that too but they just insist so much to the point where I feel like I'm a b*tch because I don't wanna hang out with them. Am I a bad friend because I don't hang out with them? |

We go to different schools but we still used to always hang out. She just seems different in the way that we talk on social media. I live about 2 hours away from home and occasionally see my parents and girlfriend. I'm a very shy and introverted person so making friends is very difficult for me. I would say I've made about 5 friends, none of which are good friends. I have no social life because of my shyness and I am incredibly lonely and depressed. The only thing that makes me happy anymore is playing Xbox but the wifi here is such **** that it only works half the time. Don't get me wrong, I love being on my own and being independent but I'm just so lonely and depressed anymore, I can't take it. I want to drop out and go home but I don't want to disappoint my family. Should I quit school or should I just suck it up and deal with the sadness? |

We teased her for being tomboyish, liking photography, plus she rejected one of my friends and it pissed him off. Yes we were stupid. Once they threw Mariah's skateboard in a dumpster and I stole her camera. Finally my rejected friend humiliated Mariah badly. It was funny at first, but IDK it made me feel sick afterward. Later I ended up returning her camera and stopped hanging out with my friends altogether. Another day they were harassing Mariah, I felt bad, so then I told my friends off. Of course they beat me to a pulp. Strangely Mariah was super thankful, even though I used to tease her too. We started talking, and eventually she wanted to hang out. Turned out Mariah was a nice, cool girl. Throughout high school we got to know each other. Now we're in college and best friends. I guess my question is why does Mariah feel fine befriending someone who used to bully her? Mariah feels because that is not who I am, and thinks it was sweet that I stood up for her when my friends beat me. She really liked that, and me. Still, why would anyone feel comfortable with a bully? Am I just weird? |

In the whole month that we havent talked,she's posted maybe two things on all social medias: Twitter: guys,i'm sorry, i'm taking a break from twitter.... Forever Wattpad: no updates i'm quitting AND EVEN IF I AM BEING PARANOID DO NOT TELL ME TO CALM DOWN AFTER SHE POSTED THOSE SHE HASNT SAiD A WORD TO ME A PERSON THAT I USED TO TALK TO EVERYDAY She has told me what her life was like before: her family isn't rich,or poor, but in all she said she has a good life and wouldnt do anything to change that so please help |
