| Posted: 05 Oct 2017 06:01 PM PDT I have this friend who is living with me due to him/her's mom marrying my dad. he/she is divorced and her/him and their father had an argument and now he/she is kicked out of father's home. (Sorry if the he/she is confusing) This is fine that friend is living with us until school is finished, but friend's living arrangements aren't that comfortable due to us not having enough space in house. I'm not sure but i also believe that this is also kind of expensive and while we aren't too bad off, its still a'lot of work. I simply wish friend to be happy and not uncomfortable while he/she stays here. What should i do, call the father myself and have a calm one on one to better know the situation and find an answer there, or should i let the problem lie with the grown ups, i just don't know? Please help. |

After I got her number, we spoke a few times until she messaged me about 4 weeks ago telling me she attempted to kill herself, I didnt hear back from her until the next day where she has since resided at the hospital for treatments. I was worried, in fact I was so worried I decided to contact her boyfriend and asked him to take care of her while I was at work. He told me he didn't know what was going on because she never said anything to him. Then I received a message from her telling me to not tell him yet as she knows how he'd react. I told her I already told him, she got really mad. She thanked me for caring but then never messaged me again until this morning she said she forgive me and the reason why she hasn't spoke to me is because I told her bf. I was already in a really bad situation at work at the time and when I read that I cried due to stress. I don't know if I am wrong for feeling this way but I'm really upset about what happened and for her saying that I decided to ignore and didn't respond. Am I a bad friend for this? i know she doesn't deserve it, I'm her only friend as she had problems making friends at school (everyone hated her) and now I'm turning my back too. |

My friend I'll call Kate (20f) becomes friends with another clan mate she just recently met. They both seem to get along normally for a month til this guy I'll call him John(20m) takes an interest in her. Kate acts friendly and emotes "hugs" with him every now and then and he does the same. John because he is so infatuated with her decides to help her play her character better and also buys her something cheap ingame. She appreciates John helping her play her class better, but at the same time reluctantly accepts the gift and just sees it as a friendly gesture. After a while John finds out from another person that Kate is with someone and gets pissed. John then confronts her about not telling him she is with someone. She tells her side of the story saying that she did not have any ill intentions and was going to tell him eventually. John still feeling betrayed still feels that she was using him this whole time so he tells her that he won't help her anymore with anything in game and stops talking to her for a time. After a few months they make up and become friends again. John: is a good guy but he is very emotional and seems to think he is always in the right. I want to go to university but that won't be until next year now, in the mean time I'm going to try to do part-time college courses - but most people who go on these courses are younger people. I try to avoid staying in the house all day: I go to the gym, I walk into town for coffee, I'd go to the park to read, I look locally for free events (there's not much: small city), but it's winter so options are limited now. In any situation there's little chance to meet, talk, and build relationships anyway. I do use meetup.com - I try to go to meetups but not too often due to limited budget, even then I'm missing how you progress from talking to someone at a meetup and progressing to friendship. |

I was in love with a girl and she broke my heart in the worst way by going back to her ex while we were supposed to be together and breaking up with me instead just because she realized he's the one. Anyway I got insecure and my self-esteem hit bottom rock. That affected everything ... I failed miserably at the university, I had problems with my family, I gained too much weight, and I lost everything. Then I decided to pick my **** together and make a comeback and I did. I lost weight, got in shape, my gpa went back from D to A which is a miracle, everything became just fine except for my social life. In the process of the comeback I focused too hard on improving myself and now that everything is ok, I look around and I have no friends anymore. People at my age usually have a group of friends with whom they hang out and travel and so and so, I don't. I don't have a best friend or a close friend. I barely know people at the university I just say hi to them. I didn't used to be like that in the past, but it's been 3 years and I don't really know how to start building a social life at the senior year. I just can't blend in any group since they already know each other long time ago. Also, other than university I have no idea where else I can meet new people or make friends ... So any idea??? PS: I really hate that ****** up girl! I missed the best years of my life while everyone did exchange programs and traveled, made friends and had fun because of her. |

The biggest problems are the neighbors. Since we are going to drink, police showing up isn't the best thing. Our cousins live next door, and an old couple at the other side. He s a liar, theif, lazy, and a manipulater. I didnt know him to be like this when we first became friends or maybe i just didnt know him well enough. We went to school together and lived on the same neighborhood and now we re both in our mid 20 s. He seems to not care about working and every job ive known him to have he only had a few weeks before he quit or was fired or if he managed to keep his job longer by the grace of God he would be late or skip days. A few years ago he stole my stepdads wine after i told him not to drink any cause my parents will notice and he acted like he didnt do anything wrong. He said he would replace it but when i ask him about it he keeps trying to lie to me and manipulate me into thinking i said it was ok and he doesnt have to replace it. All im askinf for is 75$ because i know someone selling theirs for that much. Hes really irritating me and ive lost respect him as a person and as a man. Why does he always go back to the same person he cheats with? My guy friend has been cheating with my girl friend for about a year they are both in a relationship but cheat on their partners with eachother. She has been with the same guy but he has already gone through 2 relationships and still cheats on them with my (girl friend) Im in such an awkward position because I know his baby momma and I'm cool with her husband. I tell my (girl) friend she needs to put a end to this and says she is but doesn't. |

| Question: Is my friend fake/toxic? Posted: 04 Oct 2017 09:48 PM PDT I've been friends with this girl, we will call her Anna (not her real name) for about 10 years now, but for the past couple years she has been acting different. She acts really weird around other people (she is constantly smiling and does this really weird,"flirty" laugh that I know is not her real laugh), she always cancels plans at the very last minute. Last year, this girl said some really horrible things to me and Anna always hangs out with her still, (not saying she can't have other friends, but this girl really was horrible to me and I just thought Anna would understand) and often ditches me for her. This happens pretty much everyday. I am always just standing alone and Anna will just be hanging out with the other girl. I am constantly excluded. I have bad social anxiety so I will often be all alone and instead of sitting with me (which I am not saying Anna has to do every time, but it would be nice to not be alone sometimes) she will sit with random people and act really weird and fake. I feel like she values popularity over actual genuine friends. Is she fake/toxic? And if she is what do I do??? My other friends really like her because she acts weird and fake and treats them very differently from how she treats me. They have a different image of her. I don't want to be a bad person and ignore her, but her crappy treatment towards me is really taking a toll on my mental health. What do I do?? |
| Posted: 04 Oct 2017 09:45 PM PDT Ok so both of them in different occasions this last week came up to me talking about how they have doubts about their marriage,the part that was quite amazing is that both unclearly indicated they like me,as if I am the reason of the doubt,I am rarely if ever shocked but this was quite shocking,I told them to speak to each other and knowing them they probably won't,is there anything I should be doing,I am not sure what to do she is wonderful and so is he and I have known them since childhood and wish them both nothing but the bestest. |

His best friend, that I have known for a long time, is getting married and I wasn't invited to the bachelor party. I got pissed at my brother and he got pissed at me. He said: "You're such a child. You want to be invited but you don't want to come. Remember how you were at my bachelor party? You were out in the balcony talking with your gf all night. I mean for ***** sake you think smoking weed makes you a bad person. You think having strippers at a bachelor party is cheating. You think because I party with my friends now and then that it makes me an immature frat boy. It's like my wedding all over again. The whole week before the wedding you b**ched about being seated in the back. I put you there because I know you don't like being the center of attention. And when I put you in the front what happened? You were in the parking lot arguing with your gf and you missed basically all the speeches, including the best man dance that you refused to partake in. Grow the f**k up". I may not be the center of the party but I would still like to come. He's my friend too. I just feel like he could considered me as well. He acts like his friends are more his brothers than I am. I am not a boring person. It just takes time for me. Can we even have a relationship? |

Posted: 04 Oct 2017 09:13 PM PDT I've been friends with a small group of buddies I've grown up with for years now and I am currently roommates in college with 3 of them. Over the years though I have become the punching bag of the group, of course I can take the insults, but its none stop now always being put down and it seems like they genuinely mean the things they say now and I'm not invited to the things they do the majority of the time. Would it be wrong for me to think I need to get new friends or is it just all in my head? And at the same time I don't wanna ruin a friendship thats been in years of the making. |
| Question: Sharing a bed with a friend. Is it wrong? Posted: 04 Oct 2017 08:49 PM PDT On a road trip with friends, I ended up sharing a motel room with my best friend Alexis, a room with only one bed. None of us could afford more rooms, so we were forced to share. Alexis was uncomfortable sleeping with anyone else (not even with the girls, and especially not in the guys' room), so she bunked with me. We just know each other better. The room was **** and the bed was so cramped that we had to cuddle under the covers. Wasn't awkward to tell you the truth because we sometimes napped together back in high school. No tension either. We just don't see each other that way, but most of all Alexis said she felt safe. Is it strange sleeping with a friend of the opposite sex? Our friends keep wondering why we didn't have sex and keep bugging us wanting to know why. Why do they want us to hook up so bad? |
| Question: My friends want to smoke and/or drink everytime we hang out and I don't? Posted: 04 Oct 2017 08:47 PM PDT Now if you read that, you're probably thinking "Then don't?" but I just feel really weird always rejecting it or eventually giving in just because everyone else is doing it. Every time people in my friend groups (i'm in high school) want to hang out there's always talk of how we are going to get weed or alcohol. I don't have an issue with my friends doing it at all, but I would much rather just hang out without them getting intoxicated. They aren't bad friends or anything, and they aren't really peer pressuring me, but when I turn it down they seem confused and say something along the lines of "Why not? It'll be fun!". I'm not sure why I don't want to join in with them, I just don't feel the need to. I do have pretty bad anxiety so that may be a factor, or maybe this is just a part of growing up? |

| Question: I hate school, I hate my teachers, I hate everything!!!?? Posted: 04 Oct 2017 08:21 PM PDT I'm a freshman and I hate my high school. My middle school was amazing- my best friend Zara and I always had someone to talk to when we were having problems- we're both really shy and I have social anxiety and depression. Every time I get to school I feel like crawling in a hole and dying. I don't want to wake up at 6 am just to go to school and deal with people who don't even care pretending to care! I've never really felt this way before- I used to love going to school and learning and seeing my classmates and teachers- they knew I didn't talk and they let me live with it. But this year just sucks. I can't even look at people without feeling like crying! I can barely speak above a whisper so everyone always asks me to repeat myself and it is so embarrassing! One of my teachers is always making jokes about me and I hate it. He started it before I even actually had his class! One time he told the class that if they messed up on the test that he would beat me with a stick! I know he was joking, but I don't like that kind of attention, and I hate how he makes me sound like such a bad kid. I talk to people as little as possible- mostly just to my friends from middle school, and I guess I've kind of got one new friend but sometimes it makes me really nervous to talk to her because I don't like being close to a lot of people. I don't know how to cope... I've never really developed any healthy coping skills. I'm scaring myself lately, I feel less like eating and more like dying. |
| Question: People with issues always want to drag you down? Posted: 04 Oct 2017 08:05 PM PDT This situation is so angering. I hung out with a guy for like 3 days straight, and apparently he missed work. I felt bad because he acted like I encouraged him, I'M NOT A BABYSITTER OR AN EMPLOYEE. He ends up doing cocaine (I do some too), and on Sunday he starts freaking out. My friend is annoyed because apparently I encouraged her co-worker to skip, she wants me to pay him half, and she wants me to leave. Everything turns out fine, I feel HORRIBLE, I send him $100 and am happy with my life, and the next weekend I find out he did it again! I texted them a billion times pissed off about this. My major issues were that my friend was so quick to blame me, when I was clearly with a guy with issues. Secondly, this guy had made such an ordeal of it and I was feeling bad being there. I am at one of the best schools in the country and have been doing fine, until I got upset about this. After I texted them a billion times, I feel that my friend would have been happy that I wasn't doing well, made fun of me for being crazy, in order to feel better about their bad decisions. I don't normally ever do that and don't plan on it again, and they are the last who should judge me for being crazy. Are they not all just trouble?? their mutual friend tried to text me i'm in a very bad place and that they have "faults." like it just takes certain kind of people to describe these things as "faults." this is not an issue i ever have, i know plenty of people that never do this. |
