So heres some background information, I'm 14 and when i was younger i lived in a dif neighborhood and i was really popular, i had good (real) friends who i could talk to about personal issues and who i could confide in. then i moved to this rich neighborhood and this rich school and made a group of friends. they were mean, unwelcoming, and toxic ppl. always commented on my weight (even though I'm underweight) and bullied me so bad i went a week without eating and got really sick. but since they were my only 'friends' i didn't know what to do. anyway, i called them out and had a big fight, turned out they were talking about me behind my back and they were all talking about how they shouldn't associate with me. i saw how detrimental they were to me and cut them off, but now i have 0 friends, no one to sit w at lunch, no one. what do i do???

I m a senior in high school and I have Social Anxiety Disorder (SA). I want to make friends with a girl at my high school named Erin. We don t have any classes right now but we follow each other on Instagram and she seems like a nice person. I was going to join this organization at school where we help the special needs children bowl, a club that Erin is involved in as well. I m hoping that being involved in the club will be a great way to get to know Erin and hopefully become great friends. I need some ideas on how to approach her and get a conversation started. What are some great ways to do this that are not awkward or will make me look like a loser? Please I would really appreciate your help. I would really like to make some friends my senior year of high school, but because of my SA, I have a hard time talking to people and starting conversations and because of this have very few friends. The only luck I ve had so far with making friends is making friends with a couple of kids who are bad influences who like to smoke and do drugs, which I do not want to get involved with. I m hoping Erin and I can become friends because she seems decent and someone who would not be bad influence.

this week has been pretty busy for me, i'm on break from school this week but i had volleyball from 2-8 Monday tuesday and thursday, i went to a friends house and the fair on wednesday and didn't home til late, on friday i went to work and afterwards drove an hour out to go shopping at my sisters house and slept over there, on saturday i went hiking for most the day in the mountains and went to a birthday party in the evening, and today sunday is my dads birthday, now it's early evening and the party is mostly over and my good friend that i haven't seen in a while asked if i wanted to go to the fair tonight with her because we've been trying to go together all week but due to conflicting schedules it never worked out and tonight i'm free and she's free so it would be perfect and i could totally go, but i just don't want to really. like i want to go with her and hang out and the fair is really fun and i haven't seen her in a long time and i miss her so i feel bad for canceling but i just want to stay at home and relax and watch tv but i don't know why. yeah i had a busy week but shouldn't i rather party at the fair with a good friend than sit at home and watch netflix? should i have cancelled our plans to do nothing?

My ex mother in law who I really liked when I was married to her daughter Ann sent me a text message asking if I could meet her for lunch. I said sure and we had lunch. At lunch she told me her other daughter Lisa's husband had ask to borrow money from her 4 times and each time she had lent him some money. He had never paid her back any of the money she had loaned him. He has now ask her for a 5th loan. She asked what I thought she should do. I told her this is a very hard situation. She should probably consider the first 4 loans a gift as there is a very low probability she will get repaid for these loans. I told her I think she should tell Lisa's husband that you will consider a new loan when he pays back the previous loans. I warned her she should expect a bad reaction from Lisa's husband and possibly from Lisa. I hope I gave her good advice. Do you think I did?

Me and two other friends have been renting an apartment together for about a year now. I'd like to move into a house next year and so would one of my friends. We've been looking at houses, and our other friend found out that we're still planning on living together, and now she wants to move in with us too. We love her so much, but we can NOT stand living with her. She's just not a good roommate. There have been so many times where I've just wanted to beat the crap out of her this past year because she's just been annoying me so much. I've discussed this with my friend, and neither of us wants to live with her anymore. What would you do if you were put in this situation?

They both are against joining the army(neither want to fight, and they both said they don't want ptsd from it). I have had them both home schooled for 8 years, when they are done with home school next year I plan on kicking them out. I already feel very creepy being seen with them based on how old they are, I don't care at this point if they get hurt on the streets. I am not a "troll"(someone called me this) I am just a fed up father. I got angry that both my kids refused to walk 15 miles(5 hours twice a day) to go to town to look for work and to work 8 hours at a job. Since they refused that I ripped up the birth certificates and ssn's. Since, I do not plan on letting them go to college(my income determines that until they are 25 and I do not want to support their careers). And since I do not want to get them driving lessons, or teach them so they can find work and drive to it, the army is basically their only choice and they refuse to go. What do you think?

It's in April but I don't know why I've been thinking so much about it lately. I haven't had a birthday party since I was 7, but I really wanna have one. Not anything big, just invite 8 friends or so out to dinner or something. The thing is, lots of my friends bother me if I only invited people I liked, only like 3 people would be there. Also a lot of my friends are mixed clique, like some are popular some are cringy. I'm friends with popular people because I can be outgoing, but I'm mainly quiet and awkward and that's where the cringes come in. I don't wanna be judged but I can't just not invite some of my friends? I'd love to have a huge sweet 16 and invite everyone, but I mean I couldn't even get invited to one where someone invited my whole grade, so idk how well that would work out.

I'm really anti-social. I don't know how I did it, but last year I ended up making about 5 friends. I have a feeling my three "good friends" won't last so long. Two of them were new to the school last year and they have friends from their old schools. I'm pretty sure they would rather hang out with them than me any day. So yesterday me and some girls from my cheer squad went to go see It. So it was like 20 of us. So of course if you go in as a big crowd you'll be talking. So this man yelled be quiet. I really didn't find that rude because we were talking as we walked in so we were being rude. Than after that everyone wasn't talking anymore. Than we all sat down. The man told one of the girls not sit by his wife when she was just trying to sit by One her friends. So we was watching the movies and it was scary so people was screaming. We was screaming so was a lot of other people. He told us to stop screaming but his wife was screaming too. Than my coach told them to sit by her. She told the man how is he telling them to be quiet but his wife is screaming. Tell me if he was right or wrong. I know that we were wrong for walking in talking but everything else I don't know.

I used to be best friends with a girl I go to school with. A few months ago, we started fighting a lot and we broke apart. I couldn't bare losing 1 or 2 and losing all 6 of them is a living hell. my mom(who've done a lot to raise me up since my dad died when I was young),my sister(who has been my best friend for 10 years now, she stood by me and supported my through out the depression I had.Once in my life she was everything to me.She was my mom my best friend and almost a soul mate.),my 4 bestfriends (1 girl and 3 boys). the girl got busy in her life and she doesn't have time to talk to me anymore as much as we used to do and I am totally convinced that it's no one's fault,we're still kind of close but our relationship is fading away. the 3 guy friends, one of them got into drugs and eventually he started ruining his life. So, I recently I have been speaking to a friend and have been told that I tend to get annoyed and stressed when my other friends gets lower results(even though just a point or 2) than me. And now I question myself too. So, I must say that I am not a stupid person but I am not a genius either, I am just a normal student that strives good results but it doesn't feel right to do it alone if I have friends who is by my side. Here is a history of me, I was a loner or I can't make friends whatever you call it. In whole schooling and college life. My results went from average to basically ****. And I don't know why. I never do. I try my best and I know stuff but then the results just shows otherwise. And this has been for years. I am I wondering if I am doing that so that I can have friends? It's easier to ask for help if you are dumb than if you know a bit of stuff right? I am coping quite well in university now and I was wondering if have sort of forced myself to not know stuff because of that and since I have finally made some friends, I am trying to be my normal self again and be better but at the same time bring them along to success. However, I am afraid that me pushing them to join me will make them annoyed more and someday leave because I seem to smart for them. Like I said, I am not a genius but then I am not stupid either. For a late birthday gift I plan on buying them a game that they wanted. They don t know I m getting them a gift first of all and we ve been friends for two years. I m kind of the person that doesn t like to spend much but this friend means a lot to me. Should I get the standard game being only like 50 dollars or the the deluxe one being around 70 dollars? I have a friend who does not like to make her own decisions. Whatever I do she just follows along. She has a fear of presenting in front of the class. So do I but as a biology major we have had to present at least 3 times in every class so I am used to it by now, but my friend is still very afraid and talks really really fast through her presentation (to the point where no one knows what shes saying). She also never looks up and reads off her notecards every single time. Because we are friends she automatically assumes that every time we are assigned a presentation she assumes that we are doing it together, but because she rushes through the presentation and never makes eye contact I always lose so many points. We have one coming up and to be honest I don't really want to be in the same group this time, but shes my friend and I feel like its messed up to just leave her. I've already tried talking to her about it and telling her to talk slower but she just brushes it off. Also in one of our classes we are assigned a question from the book to answer as a group and she NEVER answers when we are called on. I am tired of doing all the work. She also works 5 days a week and I dont work at the moment so I try to help her out with school work as much as i can, but i feel that it has kind of gotten out of hand. For example, we have an exam this week and we were given a study guide. She asked me to send her mine when im done because she doesnt have time to do her own. I agreed but then she told me shes going to horror nights on thursday, the day before the exam..I feel annoyed that shes asking me for my work when shes going out and having fun. Whats even more annoying is that if she ends up failing the exam she complains nonstop...obviously if she went out the night before an exam shes not going to do very well and I have to sit there and listen to her...am i a bad friend for thinking this way?

I have social anxiety and a couple of other mental health issues and I can never hold a conversation. The only friends I talk to is my cousin and stepbrother, mainly only my cousin. I can never say anything . When we hang out with his girlfriend, it feels weird and I can't conversaré because I'm not sure what to say. I'm 23. I go to one of the best schools in the country. I am really ambitious, but I'm not always the most responsible. I met a guy who worked with one of my friends. It was a turn-on we had a mutual friend, and that he had a job. We ended up staying together for 3 days straight. We were drinking a lot, and he did cocaine a few times. I've met successful people who do it, so I couldn't judge at the time. However, on Sunday he was panicking about missing work. I felt bad being there, and he spent the WHOLE day freaking out about it. Doing cocaine and drinking obviously contribute to that. My friend that works with him gets angry at ME for being with him. Long story short, after him being so upset, I find out the next weekend he did it AGAIN and missed work with a dead phone. That is crazy. I was so angry at him and my friend, too because I took it really seriously. I was very harsh with him, and I think I had every right to be. He claims to have "anxiety," but he made the choice to drink and do drugs. EVERYONE has problems and still does what they're supposed to. I cannot handle people like this. This is a big NO for me and shows he has some serious issues. I texted him a million times angry and blocked him. Then, his friend texts me to stop texting his friend and that it's sad I'm trying to "burn bridges with people that are amazing" I think there are plenty of "amazing" people out there that don't do that stuff!! Also, my friend was horrible to me and chose these great "coworkers" instead of her friend, so I decided they can say goodbye to me with that kind of sh*tty behavior. I am actually in such a good place He does have a job, and there is a good chance he will straighten out, but it's still a HUGE red flag he was capable of doing that two weekends in a row. I would not be able to hang out with him if he was doing cocaine. I'm not perfect, but I don't do that kind of stuff to people. I think it's SO wrong to tell me how amazing they are, and I have every right to set a boundary for that Where is the person in his life telling him that isn't normal, except me, the random girl he has a fling with? I had to out of desperation. It was a very abusive situation. My gf really gets on my nerves sometimes. We live together. In am a transfer and feel the same as my last school. I guess I have done better in meeting people. I have some people I haven numbers with to hang at times. I have a dude I play ball with at times and went to hang at one persons house once. I have gone out once but it wasn't a party just some guys drinking. I don't know if things are getting better but I feel depressed still. I mean college is just hard not just academically, but this social BS and my mind has it rough. She often leaves/ walks away from me when she sees someone she knows. I mean I really do love her, and her family has been really loving to me, but, could we possibly have grown apart?

There is a man who I was close friends with last school year. I had considered us close friends and we got along really well and had a lot of fun together. He is extremely caring, charismatic, and easy to talk to for me. Okay I know it is much easier to get warm then to get cool. Me and my bf are fine around 70-71 degrees usually but our roomate always turns it down to 68 in the night and it makes me so cold. I do wear long pants, socks, a jacket, and get under a blanket. I usually have to sleep under a sleeping bag and a comforter to feel okay most of the nights. The roomate also has a fan in his room. Last night I turned it from 68 to 70 and he gets mad and tells me to get under a blanket and I explain to him 'look I dress warmly and I get under blankets...any way we can raise it just a few numbers? He doesn't listen...me and my bf are cold especially me so idk what to do at this point.

Long story short, I'm now a college sophomore and I feel as if I am losing a sense of self. I find myself locking myself in my room, refusing to socialize. I don't even speak to my friends at home either, so I'm stuck in no-man's land. I have been alone for weeks now, and when I went home to see family, I had absolute 0 interest in engaging with any of them. Went the whole summer without seeing any of my old friends. I was on SSRIs, but I'm off them now, they didn't really do much. Frankly, the term 'college dropout' has a new meaning to me. What if dropping out has nothing to do with academics, but all to do with socialization?

my sister got into an argument with one of her friends a few days ago. Today she received several very long texts from a number that she doesn't know, mostly calling her childish, selfish and telling her that she can't treat her friend that way (The fight actually started because my sister was being verbally attacked and manipulated by her friend, and she had had enough). They told my sister that if she doesn't apologize to her friend she will 'have to deal with me'. I got the number and texted them that they shouldn't threaten my sister anymore.
