After i invited my friends to my house during our first year of high school they told their other popular friends that i lived in a "shack." When I heard that they said that behind my back I was upset because my parents worked hard and paid about 4k for that home for rent each month. They all have mansions and have audi's, range rovers, etc as their first cars and they all drive it to school now that its our senior year. I go on 4 vacations a year while they go on 10 literally. They go to the bahamas so often just to drink... They invited me sometimes to their vacations but I couldn't go because my parents didn't want to spend a thousand dollars on one trip with them. Everything sucks because being rich seems to be the only thing that matters here... All the kids here own a cartier or hermes bracelet, outfits that exceed a couple of thousand dollars and it's just so hard. Yes, I am almost done with high school but this has been an insecurity of mine since four years ago and will this continue in the private university I was accepted to? I honestly don't know what else to say b/c I hate myself. -love you, (friend's name)" Notice how the note goes from, "I'm happy for you" to "I don't want you to be happy because I'm not happy" My friend suffers from extremely low self-confidence, and I know that she covets me. I'm a freshman girl dating a junior boy and going to prom and she wants that, specifically the boyfriend part. I've recently had some very confusing, traumatic events occur in my personal life that I think may be contributing. Not really abuse (except maybe emotional); but it was a very, very confusing and draining situation. (It's hard to explain without going into detail, which I won't for time's sake.) At first I dismissed it, but more and more are telling me. Today a lady came up to me and said, "Be happy, the universe loves you!" At first I smiled and sort of shrugged it off. Then later while I was waiting for something (at school) the same lady came up again and said, "Be happy!" I tried to make a joke and said, "I can't till the semester's over." She didn't laugh and said something like, "Well we all have to wait till the semester's over too but we still have to be happy." I felt like a burden. I'm starting to feel more like that. I try to seem happy, but when I do it gets harder and harder until I feel like I look crazy with my forced smile, every muscle in my face clenched. My cheeks even start twitching and trembling. So I feel like I can't do that and still function. When I don't force it everything seems relatively okay. I do smile and laugh. I share smiles and laughs with people. I have friendly interactions. People seem pretty normal around me. But then someone will come up and point out that I don't look happy and my mood instantly drops and I just want to hide my face. In a couple of weeks I'm going to a football combine, which is basically and event where you run drills and stuff and get evaluated on your football skills so colleges can look at you. I've heard that at theses types of camps during 1 on 1 drills(which is basically when you go up against another person) , people talk a lot of sh*t and show no respect, and that type of attitude is actually encouraged at a lot of these camps because it gets the intensity leval up. I never really talk sh*t to anyone or anything, but I have a feeling that I will feel the need to if someone starts talking crazy to me at the combine. One thing that I'm actually thinking about doing is hiding a marker in my sock and if a make I make a crazy catch I'm going to take the marker out, sign the ball, and hand it to the person that will be covering me as a joke. Posted: 29 Apr 2016 01:27 PM PDT Freshman year I joined marching band and had something come up so I couldn't go to band camp day which was mandatory to participate. So I quit. It also lead me to loosing a couple friends because they joined marching band because I did. I didn't join it Sophmore year because I didn't know anyone else joining it. For my junior year there is going to be a trip to disney world which sounds pretty fun when the teacher explained it to the class. I have no friends in my section which I am kind of worried about. My friend group is in another section and I would only get to talk to them during break times or the trip. Also the friends that I mentioned before that I lost due to quitting marching band are in my section. They are trying to be my frien but I am avoiding it because I don't want to become best friends with them again. Another down side is all the practice. Band camp is one thing It won't be so bad because it's only a week long but then I would have to commit to 5-8 hours of practice during the school week lasting one semester. I don't do any other curricular activities but it seems like a lot. I like band and playing in band. I'm trying to convince myself to join but I feel like I will be left out a lot in my section without knowing anyone. I'm kind of antisocial and most likely will not make many new friends. Also I would be joining during my junior year. Where the majority of people have already had 2 years of experience and have their friend groups. Should I join? |

My official job title is "Condom Tester". As they come off the line, I apply air pressure to them to make sure they do not leak. When people ask me what I do and I tell them what my job is, they think I am some kind of a sex nut. Nobody will believe that it is just a boring (but important) job. Our boss is a 28 year old single guy. He is the greatest boss ever. He is always available to help us when we need it. He will cover for us when we have to take time off for dr appointments etc. Every week he gives us training to help us advance to better paying jobs. We just adore him. Unfortunately for us, he will not date anyone that works for him. We have a tradition in our office that once a month after work, our boss takes us to a high end restaurant for dinner on him. We all REALLY enjoy this and have a lot of fun at these dinners. Some of our boyfriends are upset that we are going on a "date" with our boss. We try to tell our boyfriends that it is NOT A DATE. It is just friends going out to dinner together. Our boyfriends tell us that no guy ever takes a girl to dinner without expecting to get into their pants. (I don't remember much) I think we played for awhile.. This girls friend looked huge! She looked like she might've been 140 pounds in 3-2nd grade. After she left, my mom said to me, You dont look much smaller than her. This gives me horrible thoughts of being fat. I'm currently in 6th grade and this still makes me cry. No one at school ever tries talking to me or acknowledging my existence I try to smile at people and say hi but it doesn't really help. I remember it all started in 4th grade I randomly became super shy and I had no friends whatsoever and I would never talk because people never tried talking to me. I don't really know why people are like this to me. I feel so different than everyone at school i see people all around me talking to eachother in class and even other quiet people get approached and talked to but I don't. | Question: Why is my best friend still so bitter towards her ex 6 years later? Posted: 29 Apr 2016 11:40 AM PDT My friend got dumped by her ex 6 years ago. She refused love again or date since then. Now, he is in a relationship with two kids, and he recently got a job where we work. I have witnessed him try to cordial with my friend and be nice but she rolls her eyes and bashes him and his girlfriend. As a friend, I told her that her actions are immature but she gets mad at me and blames me for being on his side. I understand that it hurts seeing and hearing about her ex living "happily ever after"with 2 kids with the same woman he left her for, but I just want my friend to move on, find love, and forget about her ex. What should I do? |
| Question: How to deal with talkative needy roommate ?!!? Posted: 29 Apr 2016 11:34 AM PDT I love my housemate, I really do. She's nice, she's helpful. Frequently I will arrive home from UNI, and without greeting she will launch into an interminable narration - during which time I may leave the room to change my clothes, put in some laundry, or make a cup of coffee,she seem to be able to speak while inhaling, she's all about communicating 24/7 and doing everything together...after spending the day in school with my friends I like to go home relax and watch some TV and stay calmly in my room after a hard busy day but for her that means I'm isolated and depressed!!! I try to go out with her and do stuff that don't like just to avoid conversations about me being isolated....we have very different lifestyles...in the weekend I like to sleep till noon to make up for the sleep deprivation during the week but for her that means I'm not healthy she wants me to wake up with her at 6am in the weekend and have breakfast together!! she always talks about how unhappy she was with her former rommates because they used to spend the day in their room but now I am starting to understand that she scared them away!! please tell me what to do I can't deal with her anymore !! |
| Posted: 29 Apr 2016 11:11 AM PDT I value my connections with people, and some of my relationships are friends mostly are associates, which are friends too, I would consider them at least, some more than others. Others are with neighbors, etc, but my philosophy is to treat everyone respectful, kind, nice, and the way I'd want to be treated you know. Well, I've learned the hard way after many years of what I call abuse that people just take advantage of me, asking me to do continuous favors. Yet no one is there when I need help and I"m expected to do everything on my own. I know we all carry our burden, and it's good to help others. But my friends are always asking favors, my landlord is always asking favors, man I wonder if they even respect me. So I've tried the saying no approach, and it's just lost me a lot of friends and associates. And it's always like it's political, when I don't do someone a favor, they seem to want to make my life miserable for some reason. I don't get it! Can someone please explain this to me? |

She was my best friend. But this year when school started we were in two different schools si we didn't have much time to see each other, but when we ha some free time we used to hang out together. But lately she's started to hang out with other people who weren't necessarily in her schools and she's kinda forgotten about me. Every time i ask her if she wants to hang out she always tells me that she's busy and she never tells where she's going, but I know that she hangar out with other. But the thing that bothers me is that last year she didn't have anyone, i was her only friend. And lately i've been feeling very down and lonely and vulnerable and i really news soneone to be colse to me. Also the few time that i talk to her i fell really sad because i know that she's forgotten about me. Now i don't know i should go away from her or not. Posted: 29 Apr 2016 08:35 AM PDT Ok so I have been friend with this girl for a very long time and it has bothered me since I met her really but I never said anything about it till now because it is just gross.I try to be a good friend to her but this is too much. She is a very nice girl but her hygene is something out of a horror movie. She invited me over to her apartment which is lives with her boyfriend in and it is a pig sty and smells horrible. They have a dog and the dog just poops wherever and I don't think she cleans it up. There are huge piles of clothes everywhere on the floor...it looks like she didn't vacuum the carpet in idk how long. Her bathroom doesn't look like its been cleaned ever. Also, her car is piled up on the floor with clothes and old food containers u cant even sit in the front seat without garbage up to your kneews its gross. She also doesn't look like she showers. Her hair never looks brushed or her teeth with ae really yellow from when she had bulimia. Its just gross and she smells sometimes like her apartment. When she eats, she plays with her food and it is sooo gross I cant take it. I don't get how she can live lie this. And she keeps getting into abusive relationships. I don't want her to be victimized by these guys but I don't think they respect her for the way she looks and keeps her home. Please help I don't know what to do. She has a baby now too which she had with a guy after knowing himf or a months the little girl is very cute and wonderful but the dad is cheating.help |

| Question: My best friend lied to me? Posted: 29 Apr 2016 08:09 AM PDT Both 18 M. So, he and I have been best friends for 6 years. Ever since then we'd always talk about always staying together and he said he couldn't imagine not being around me. So, we decided to just go to the same college. We were gonna go to a community college since it has a high acceptance rate, and we'd both be close. So, when he got his acceptance and denied letters he said that he was denied into the community college, but he was accepted to William's College, to which I was sad to hear but understood. Anyway, last week I was at his home and he went to shower or something like that and he left me alone with his mother. She let it slip that he didn't apply to the community college at all. To prevent embarrassment, I changed the topic. So, the next day at school during lunch I brought it up to him and he denied it. It's not the first time he lied to me either, and this had been the last straw that broke the camel's back. I told him that a friendship like any relationship required trust and that I couldn't trust him anymore. This was 5 days ago. Since then he's been texting saying he's sorry he lied and he wants to stay friends. I want to stay friends too, but I feel like he'll just keep lying. WHAT DO I DO? |

Well she has started to really upset me recently and worry me with her choices to the point that I don't know if I can be friends with her anymore. Her boyfriend that she was with died and it was very sad and I was there throughthe whole ordeal with her..she then went through a really big deression and I was there for her because I felt so bad for her. The boyfriend that died was abusive to her and cheated onher and hit her. After he died she started dating again and got into a relationship with another abusive guy and had a baby with him in 1 month!! I month!! It turns out hes cheating on her and they are getting divorced. I don't understand this girl, I feel like she should know better I don't get her choices Also, she asks me for rides often and its starting to annoy me. She had another baby at 17 that she gave up for adoption. I just feel like she makes lots of bad choices and I just watch idely by. its frustrating. Another thing that feel really badly about is that she doesn't really have very good hygene. She often times smells pretty bad when I see her, doesn't really brush her hair or it seems like her teeth either and her house and car are a pig sty. I feel really badly judging her like this because she has been my friend for so long but I just cant stand the stuff she does somethimes |

Posted: 29 Apr 2016 07:17 AM PDT So last weekend I went to a party with a few of my friends and I'm going to call my friend "Kate" and her boyfriend "Jack". When we arrive there was a ton of alcohol and there were other drugs too but I didn't touch any of the drugs. I have never done drugs and wasn't about to. Anyway, Kate and Jack went straight to a little corner where there were drugs and I got some alcohol and I went sit with one of my other friends, lets call her "Sam" and I saw Jack and Kate messing around with the drugs in the corner with all the other people. I don't like it when Kate does drugs but the last time I told her to stop she basically cussed me out and told me I'm not her mom and I cant tell her what to do. So this time I didn't say anything. Her and Jack then went up stairs. A little later Sam told me she had to use the bathroom and she was a little drunk so I walked her up the stairs to the bathroom. When I get up the stairs I got Sam to the bathroom. There is a bedroom literally right next door and I can hear Kate making noises. And I thought they were having sex so I was like "awkward" and then I can hear Kate mumbling "get off me Jack" and then she yelled it louder and said "GET OFF ME" and I quickly opened the door and I see JACK on top of her with his pants down and he freaked out and ran out of the room. Kate was crying and I kept telling her we need to call the cops, but she says no because he didn't know what he was doing and she doesn't want to get into trouble. What should I do? She thinks shes going to get into trouble because she was doing drugs, but I don't know what to do we need to call the cops, but she gets pissed off when i talk about it, but he cant get away with this. |

One day ally (anon) told me that Susan is fake and i was confused. I told maya about it and she agreed. They then told me about Susan and I started to not like her. I didn't hate her completely, I kept my distance, but we talked a little. Then Ally went off on me on how I am fake to susan and how she would tell her everything. I couldn't handled being called fake (i used to have a lot of labels for no reason when I was in middle school that's why I freaked out) so I told susan everything and how I went behind her back saying mean things and I went into further detail in what I said. Susan forgave me and said that she was happy that I was honest. After I told her, Ally then texts me saying that she does confront people angrily so that they are scared (just thought it was important). now me being an idiot i told maya and ally that I told susan what I said and the whole story so susan knows why I said means things to her and I didn't want to be fake to susan. I thought i should tell them so i was honest. They are severly mad at me and called me a bully, backstabber, and two faced. Maya told me that it would take a long time for her to forgive me. I feel so bad about doing this, I couldn't stand being called fake. What should I do? Should I wait a couple of days and talk to maya? I feel very sad and upset and there has never been a day where i wouldnt stop thinking about it |
