I broke up with her because of distance because we go to separate colleges. And honestly I didn't wanna be locked down by someone who didn't go there. I did really like her but we had a lot of sexual chemistry which got in the way a little. And I just wanted to be fwb after we broke up because I didn't want any emotional ties. She would always text me after the breakup and I always texted her back ofc but it just always led to us dirty talking or something. We were gonna be fwb but we argued in December and before New Years she apologized and stopped talking to me completely. So after January I stopped viewing her Snapchat's Recently she posted a text conversation and I viewed it because I was a little curious to if she found someone new Like I said she stopped talking to me 4 months ago and today she hit me up out of nowhere asking how I'm doing and saying how she's going through some stuff and could use some prayers and I've been on her mind. I'm in law school so we were in a long distance relationship but saw each other a few times per month. He has mental health issues and has always said that I make him happy and I've saved him. I'll be home this summer working, and I was looking forward to spending more time with him. Now due to quarantine, I'm home early. But he won't see me obviously because of the quarantine. 3 weeks ago, his mom discovered a tumor on her liver and was diagnosed with cancer. My bf was devastated and cried to me. Afterwards, he texted me a lot less and apologized for not being his normal self. I've tried to support him and give him space, but I felt him pulling away. I texted him last week saying that going forward, I want us to have more open conversations and communicate better. I told him that I love him and sometimes need affirmation that he loves me too. He replied 3 days later saying that the last month has flipped his life upside down, he wanted to break up, things weren't tracking in the right direction for him, and it's not fair to me that he's not feeling as strongly about the relationship so it's best that we end things. He is quarantined alone without me or his family. I miss him so much and am worried about him. I didn't reply to his text because I didn't know what to say. Are we done forever? Did he lose interest or is he just sad about his mom? How do I get him back? |

Around fifth grade I decided to stop making friends because I didn't see the point if I was going to leave after one school year. I ended up making a friend in my sophomore year of High School and I developed a crush on him. Through this guy, I realized I was gay. When I got to uni, I stayed at the same university for all the years. In my junior year of college, I met a guy who quickly became my best friend and favorite person in the world. I'm not his best friend and he's super charismatic and popular so I don't really know where I stand with him, but he's my best friend. He is like the only person I feel completely safe with. I'm very uncomfortable with people getting in my personal space — to the point where some other friends compare me to an abused puppy because of this. He is the only person I feel comfortable with in my personal space. Last year, I graduated from college and he's kept up the friendship with me. He went so far as to get a mutual friend to invite me to a weekly thing so we could hang still. I went to a concert thing he was in and left bc there were so many people there for him and he text me wondering where I was. I never felt more cared for. He's bi. Part of our dynamic is him making fun at me for supposed feelings for him. But this year, I've been wondering, do I want to be with him? I know I always want him in my life. I've had 1 serious relationship in my life, and she broke my heart. I never loved her, I stayed with her because I was scared of being alone. After she left me, I found out that my freedom, my solitude, my singleness was the greatest thing I could ever ask for. About a year ago, my parents told me that I should find someone, so that I won't always be alone. Once they're gone, I have no other family, really... I have no siblings, and extended family aren't really in the picture. It made me think, so I started talking to an old friend that I was really interested in, and we dated for a bit... Same story, she said she loved me after a few months, and I left. I ruined a friendship and relationship. I dated a few more girls, but the same thing I continued to leave. Why? This is the problem. I feel tied down, I don't want to be with anyone, yet I'm deathly afraid of being alone or not having a family or a partner. I can't love anyone, I never have, and I feel like I never will. I can't stand the thought of living with someone, loving, marrying, sleeping in the same bed.... I don't see any of that. No one understands, because everyone is on the other side. I'm not popular, I'm not wealthy, I'm not attractive. I guess by me not caring, it makes anyone I find want to be with me more. It's a vicious cycle. I get smothered so fast. |
