Question: Mom uses my rape against me? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 01:47 PM PDT When I was 18, I was violently assaulted and raped by an acquaintance. I am now 22 and have moved on from it, attended therapy, and sought legal help. I come from a very religious Indian family. When this happened, my family was there for me. But now, 4 years later, when my mom is angry, she'll bring up the rape, saying I deserved it, or that it was my fault. I know she is saying it to hurt me in the moment. But, it breaks my heart when she says this. I wish she was sensitive to this and supported me through the trauma. Why does she do this? How can I get her to understand it is not okay? |
Posted: 18 Apr 2020 01:22 PM PDT My grandfather's grandfather was described as a mild alcoholic, a social drinker, but three of his five kids were severe alcoholics and a fourth child committed suicide. Only one of the five kids turned out successful in life. In a family of alcoholics is this common? Also is it common that other mental illnesses run in the family separate from the alcoholism? In my generation it's more mental illnesses without addiction though there are a few with addiction and one alcoholic. |
Posted: 18 Apr 2020 01:13 PM PDT my grandmother has died and my mother takes care of my uncle like she's the mom or wife. She loves him more than her husband I think. He's divorced after 30 years and now she's giving him all the emotional support and even gave him a back rub at a funeral where he was anxious because his ex was there. I don't mean a sexual back rub but just her and around her shoulder like she might do if it was her husband. she also covers up for him when he's drunk as he has alcoholism |
Posted: 18 Apr 2020 01:10 PM PDT For example I found that my mom's brother was in jail. I believe my mother just thought he was at boarding school. I also found that my mom's parents separated for a few months over financial issues though my mother must have known that as she would have been teenager. On my dad side I found that his cousin talked a homicidal man down from killing the man's family. I also found that my dad's great great grandfather died of cirrhosis so I assume that means he was an alcoholic. On my mom side I found a newspaper clipping about a suicide that to my mom had just been described as a mysterious death. The newspaper article confirms her suspicion that it was a suicide. Also I found a distant relatives wife was married before him but he asked me not to share that so I wont. Now that guy calls me his soulmate so I know he is now deceased wife's secret. Him calling me that is creepy. So what should I disclose and what is sleeping dogs that I should let lie or whatever the expression is. Please excuse the bad grammar, I'm talking into my iPhone |
Question: What’s it like to have siblings 10+ years older than you? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 12:55 PM PDT I have a 12 year old cousin and his older sister is 25, just a year older than me, and an older brother who is 27. They are 13-15 years older than him. They have their own lives while he's still living with his parents. They all have the same parents |
Posted: 18 Apr 2020 12:41 PM PDT My dad wants to give them some financial assistance given both my cousin's husband and my uncle have lost their jobs in the last few weeks. Mom says absolutely not. What is your take? |

Question: Are most fathers attracted to their grown daughters? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 12:10 PM PDT |
Posted: 18 Apr 2020 11:17 AM PDT A flat chest SOOOOOOOO BAD. What's wrong with me?? I feel like a kid, which I guess is because I had a really traumatic childhood and never got to experience my little kid years, but I'm mad at my brother more than my parents because he got to be a boy and I'm not. What's wrong with me?? |
Question: I’m 27 and got spanked. Is this ok? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 11:00 AM PDT I live with my parents. Pretty much I ended up braking a glass table since I tripped over it while playing with a basketball inside (were in quarantine so it's boring). My dad overheard, came in mad and then told me to go to my room. After that he came in with a paddle, bent me over his knee and hit me for 5 minutes. I was crying uncontrollably. I don't know why he was mad since I haven't broke nothing in months. He told me he wants me out as soon as possible. My mom said it's ok for me to stay. I want to move out but I dont have the money and there's no jobs now because of the economy and lockdown. What do I do? My girlfriend won't let me move in with her either. My friends only let me stay for a few days |
Question: Will I get infected if someone stares at me? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 10:39 AM PDT let say if that person has virus and if he stares at me, will i get sick? should i wear sunglasses to dilute the effect? |
Question: When would be the best time to contact my sister in law? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 10:05 AM PDT She just had a baby and my husband (her brother) wants to find out the baby's name. She only texted a photo in a group chat and told my husband and brother in law to nit post the photo. We did ask my mother in law but apparently she knows the name but cannot pronounce it correctly (they are spanish and she knows english but not that well). When would be a good time to find out? I dont want my husband to text her 24/7 and be rude. And yeah we couldnt go to the hospital to visit because of coronavirus and new rules and stuff. I just don't want my husband to bug her when shes probably really busy now but he wants to find out. Even my brother in law doesnt know the baby's name. |
Question: Why are my relatives so nosy? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 09:43 AM PDT When I try talking to my boyfriend on the phone, my mother and sister will start bothering me and start making nosy, rude comments. What should I do? I'm sick of not having any privacy and having to deal with them being nosy. I always have to go into my room when I talk to him because they start acting loud and annoying and it's embarrassing No, they do it because they don't like that I have a boyfriend and it's not my fault if they can hear me. I only have so few options. I'm a grown woman, I should be able to speak on the phone without them being nosy and annoying. What I want is for them to mind their business and not bother me when I talk on my own phone. I'm asking for advice, not any lectures. It's not completely my mother that does this, it is my sister that mainly does these things. I'm nineteen but I'm busy saving money for a new home. I don't think that my personal life is any of your business and I have every right to complain and be angry about this situation. I do not bother them when they are talking on the phone so why do they think it is necessary to bother me?. I'm not sure why you placed quotation marks next to grown woman either, I am a grown woman and I shouldn't have to be treated like a damn 12 year old. Whether you like it or not, it's rude and nosy, I will complain as much I like about this situation. When I move into my own home, then I'll stop complaining! |
Question: How to act maturely as an adult? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 08:50 AM PDT I am 21 almost 22 and my parents say sometimes I behave immaturely |
Posted: 18 Apr 2020 08:43 AM PDT I woke up today to my mom talking to my dad on the phone. He was saying something about "Only failures" and i could hear him because it was on loud speaker. My mom asked him, "Who?" and he said me. It's tiring because whenever i cook and clean they dont say anything and i know they dont have to but it would be nice if they said they were proud of me every once in a while. When i dont cook or clean he just says im a failure. I cant talk about it cause whenever i try to talk about anything he does wrong he just tells me to shut up, and i know if i dont he'll just hit me. |
Question: Should I talk to my son about this? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 07:45 AM PDT I was late to leave for work and I forgot to lock the bathroom door and my teenage son walked in just as I was getting out of the shower. I quickly got a robe on but not before he said "Wow mom, you really have a beautiful body". It did not embarrass him any but it sure did me. He has not said a word about this since it happened. Should I just forget about it or should I tell him that was not an appropriate comment to say about his mother? He acts like it was not a big deal. |

Question: How do I get my father to stop belittling me? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 05:11 AM PDT Coach Simon: His own father was not at all like this. His own father was absolutely wonderful and much more loving then my Dad. |
Posted: 18 Apr 2020 04:48 AM PDT My bf's parents own a company that my bf works at. My bf was living in his parents' home but his mom kept accusing him of being high at work and home when he wasn't. She would get mad and stressed out at my bf about work related things when he wasn't involved. Then she just suddenly kicks him out because she went through his room and found an old dab pen in his room. The way they kicked him out was mean. Then a few days later at work, she accuses him of being high again at work for no reason. My bf says his mom is the company's HR, so he can't go to her and complain about what she is doing because she ignores him, and brushes it off. I was wondering who is higher up than his parents that he could go to to complain? His parents don't really care about him and take out a lot of things on him. Thanks for the help! |
Question: How do i get a normal life gay mom & dad ? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 03:13 AM PDT They call me autistic, they say gay jokes 24/7, lived by my self, atheist, women are always right to them men r wrong, yelling at me to read every 30min, never negotiate, no goals, they have no friends, they r paranoid, they r gay |
Question: I dont like my other siblings is that okay? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 11:42 PM PDT I have an identical twin brother and he is my best friend and we get along vey well. We have two older siblings a brother and a sister they are not very kind to us, even mean on occasion. My twin and I have talked about it and decided we dont like our older siblings, but feel bad "because its family" advice plz We feel bad for not liking our siblings (even if they are mean to us), and we wish things were different. So I guess I am asking how we can become okay with not disliking them. Thanks. *with disliking them. |
Question: I am 18 and my Dad is trying to get legal guardianship of me? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 11:35 PM PDT I am 18 I live in a small rural town in the state of Ohio I have autism very mild form of it too I work in a diner in my town (We don't have many businesses around here very small town and no big cities anywhere around) the money I make at the diner I save back and I pay my phone bill, I pay my Dad rent to live at his house, I also have a 2005 Chevy Silverado Z71 I have my temps and I pay for insurance and gas. My Dad has very bad anger issues and its made my whole family into a uproar also his temper was the reason my Mom divorced him. My Dad yells at me calls me names (Even worse things than that he calls me horrific names and insults constantly), throws everything all of me and his business out on social media, he is taking away things I paid for, he has broke 2 windows in the house even threw the remote into the t.v. and broke it. He has always had a tight leash on me I hang out with a lot of very good people but my Dad still makes me check in every 30 minutes on the phone even check in with my friends calling their numbers when I am hanging out with them. He is saying I am not capable of everyday living but I manage a job, I am about to get my license (I got my temps) I save all my money,I vote I am capable of all that but Dad acts like I am stupid and I cant take living around him anymore. I don't want my Dad to control me and manage my finances I want to get my own place. He is trying to control me and even my own family has told me that. How do I go against this I just want to do what all the other people I hang with do I don't want to be treated like a baby anymore I have a large social group and hang out with a lot of people but my Dad is a very controlling person and I certainly do not want guardianship I know others with the same form of Autism that I got and they live normal lives on their one. What can I do when my Dad has the guardianship hearing at the common pleas court so he does not get guradianship of me. I just want live a normal life. |
Posted: 17 Apr 2020 11:04 PM PDT Should we assist them? Mom has said 'absolutely not'. Dad wants to do something to help them financially (just for goodwill) given that my cousin's husband and father have both lost their jobs and are in some financial trouble due to COVID-19. He wants to give them $10K. Dad has always really valued my uncle as his brother and looks up to him despite the fact that we have never received birthday or Xmas cards from them. Mom doesn't think they deserve a cent, given how little they have wanted anything to do with us over the years (as evidenced by the recent wedding) and other family members on mom's side have agreed that we should hold on to what we have. What are your perspectives on this? |

Question: How do I tell my parents I'm moving out? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 09:07 PM PDT I moved out here to be with my parents back in September, this is my real dad who had signed his rights away when i was younger. i had just lost my job out in Arizona, and thought what i was missing was family. i made a deal with my step mom that if she moves me out here and in 6 month i decided i didn't want to be here she would help me move back. Around November i stated talking to them about me moving back in February. Then in December for Christmas i told them i was pregnant... well that messed everything up. The father isn't in the picture and doesn't want to be. I have no problem as to taking care of my daughter on my own. I was hoping to be coming home to a loving family but instead I get put into the middle of a nasty divorce I grew up watching my real mom and real dad fighting constantly and i don't want to bring my daughter into this world just to have her witness it. I'm moving out on may 14th and i'll be 31 weeks pregnant moving from tn to az. I got a house, a roommate, i'm currently going to school, and have everything covered. I just don't know how to go about telling them. |
Question: What do I do when my aunt calls me to fish for gossip about family? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 08:28 PM PDT |
Posted: 17 Apr 2020 07:48 PM PDT First of all she has adhd, but now is a pothead. I told her many times not to smoke around the dog and she did, but promised not to again. Basicky shes gotten so lazy. I mean we wre in quarantine and nobody dusts or sweeps. She quit exercising and keeps gaining weight because shes older. But the main thing is that she keeps talking to me like I cannot think for myself. Fir example I will say to leave open the door for the dog, she will close it even though we just discussed it, then go open it. Then later tell me its opened as if I already did t know. She doesnt let me hear my own thoughts she says the most random dumb things. Or is super high strung. I used to be like that when I got high, but I hate weed now. Besides that is 4 years together to early to give up? I feel like I hate my life a d shes not motivating at all. I stopped exercising too because inget treated like a male stripper now. That also gets anoying. |
Question: Please help, I think someone is cheating on me? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 06:14 PM PDT im not sure who but I think somebody is cheating and im stressed out, im 17 btw female |
Posted: 17 Apr 2020 06:10 PM PDT They all hate me. They think I'm weird. I've been isolated for awhile. They think I'm scared. They all harass me and threaten to jump me. I lock myself in the bathroom. They stand by the door and bang on the door. I called the cops on them. The cops did nothing. The cops joined in on the bullying. I don't know what to do. They won't stop. I don't have anyone to tell. I can't move out right now. It's not safe at home. I don't have anywhere to go. I'm living a nightmare. |
Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:51 PM PDT I love my son. He has an adult son I've never met. I don't want to meet him I don't like him. I talk to my son everyday. |
Question: Forced to live with my scary parents under shelter-in-place. Should I hurt myself? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:42 PM PDT Just when I thought I was getting successful and making enough money to move out. Then Covid19 abruptly happened! All businesses, activities and my new workplace....all reluctantly closed down. Anyway, not only am I forced to deal with my parents fight much of them time (shouting is common) and the fighting shifts towards me often, I can't even go outside under any circumstances. Not for a jog, or a bike ride, or for fresh air. Otherwise, PO-LEESE time! ☹ I can either get berated by my parents (mainly for being in the same home as them) OR risk getting a criminal record and paying a heavy fine for taking one step outside. And the mayor in my city is generally afraid of his own shadow. That's why the restrictions are so harsh and unfair here. I can't live like this! |
