What is this wet clapping sound I hear from my neighbors apartment? It sounds like something hits the wall too. And somebody like clapping in a bucket of water. Ever since the quarantine I have been at home a lot more. And I hear it so much it's actually driving me crazy. Should I leave a note?

Is it normal to be only close to some of your relatives? I have a very big extended family. My dad has 9 siblings and my mom has 7 siblings. Both my grandma and grandpa on my dad's side had 7 siblings and in my mom's side, my grandma has 7 siblings and my grandpa had 6. So I have more than 40 cousins including my second, third, cousins but it's pretty weird that I'm close to most of my cousins in my mom's side than in my dad's side. In my dad's side, I'm only close to like three or four cousins. How about you guys?

So I'm going to make this post very brief. I am a 27 year old male with goals and ambition in life but I have yet to achieve anything because of my depression and procrastination. I don't have any degree or diploma at the moment. Recently I just got into a huge fight with a family member who at the time I was living with at my mothers house. This person threatened me with a gun broke my MacBook, assaulted me etc, the police came and we ended up having to go to court for this, moreover my mom said she didn't want me at her home because she is selfish and evil and rather have men who she just met live with her. My mom was extremely toxic and disrespectful towards me. I am now living with my dad for the time being and it isn't any better over here he's always being negative, pushy, grumpy, and ignorant. He was never really in my life so we never really had a connection. I feel like I have no one right now and all the people who I used to talk to have vanished. I feel alone and I've been drinking to cope with my problems. I'm not going to commit suicide because I am too strong for that but some days I wish I could just disappear. With everything going on quarantine, Covid19, etc. this is just extra stress. I've been having homicidal thoughts and I don't want to end up doing something crazy to relive stress. My plan is to save up money and move back to LA and start a business. 

My parents are currently stuck at a friends house due to the lockdown in my state and my babysitter is taking care of me while their gone as im 13 and I was on my 2006 iMac working on online schoolwork and she came in and told me it was time for dinner and I told her I needed to finish my work and we started arguing because she needed me right away apparently and I wanted to finish and she got so mad she hit me across the face hard and I had a bruise then she grabbed my computer and threw it on the floor and it smashed and I ran upstairs to my room and im posting this because I don't know what to do and im crying because my parents are stuck away and can't help so idk what to do

We were watching something on television and I just said casually that I was tired of seeing so many women favored politics in television, and why everything has to be about politics in general nowadays. I mentioned that it just makes the war between men and women that much harder. I am 18 and she is 16. She mentioned how she doesn't give a crap if one little tv show offends a strong, mighty white man, and that he can deal with it because women have put up with their garbage on television for many years. To her, these shows are an equal balance, so to say. She brought up a point how there used to be so many sitcoms about housewives and stay at home mothers, and it's about time women can have characters to relate to. What do you think? Do you agree with her on this argument or do you think it's time to show more "gender neutral" shows, so to say? Also, do you think she could be a lesbian, or a feminist with views like these? I have never asked her outright as she has never really shown any preference towards men or women, and our parents really don't think it's a big deal to ask her as I have mentioned it lightly to them before. They simply think that if she is a lesbian then she is, and if she's not then she's not. Which makes interacting with her sometimes all the more confusing if you do not know how to approach certain topics.

I am currently not working right now due to coronavirus, but the place that I have been working is opened for a while. My boss has asked me to come back and help he, but my parents did not want me to because they are afraid that I might be corona and give it to my family. The other night, I got into a fight with my father because he told me to wash the dishes and I refused to. I have washed the dish 3 nights in a row already and I felt like it should be my sisters turn. Well, I refused to wash the dishes and decided not to eat the dinner he cooked. He got pissed and told me to go back to work so I can make money and move out of his house. So that is exactly what I did. I texted my boss to put me back on the schedule and she was so happy to hear that I could work again. I am schedule to work tomorrow and Sunday. Well, my parents found out that Im going back to work and they got so angry. They threatened me that if I go back to work, they will not let me come back in the house.  I don't understand why they are so afraid of corona..? My boss makes all her employees wear mask and gloves. I explained it to her, but she still will not listen. She took my car keys away so I cannot leave anywhere. She makes me pay for my car every month, so I really need to go back to work and make some money. They were the one that yelled at me to go back to work and when I am, they get mad at me?

It really makes me uncomfortable and no one does anything to protect me. I am an adult but a conflict emerges and I am penalized times I don't let them use me.  I am really sick emotionally and this makes me so much sicker. 

I work for my Dad so he would decide if I can take off. Otherwise I would just go. My father resents that I am loyal to extended family. Plus my father is not particularly loyal at all to his family. It is embarrassing.

I have been unemployed because I was laid off and I have been applying to job openings everyday but I am struggling and some of my relatives keep insulting me and calling me names even though I'm trying to get a job.

I was the only child for a long time, my dad started having more children with another woman when i was 21 and he was 49. He now has 4 other kids which would be my younger siblings. Ages 1, 4, 4 (twins) and 6. I have since had a daughter myself who is 5 months old. I feel like he has very little to do with her because of all the young kids he currently has. I feel bad because my daughter won't really have a grandpa figure like i did growing up because he always acts like he is too busy to see her or spend time with her. Will this affect my daughter in anyway and what do you guys think i should do ? 

My little bro broke his pinky toe, and for some reason my mum took him to A&E and he got crutches. I broke my pinky toe, my mum just told me to tape it. Are crutches overkill? My mum didnt take me to A&E for mine

I jokingly said that my mother loved my sister more than she loved me, and said that the same could be applied to everyone. She didn't deny it, and then after a short while, she said "Well whose fault is that?". I just got done harming myself a few minutes before that, and now I just want to do it again. My family doesn't love me, and I'm too young to move out or even get a job. I'm just tired of living in general, and comments like these just make me want to end it all. Say I'm overacting if you want, I'm just tired of it.

My dad married a much younger woman. I am 18 and my step mom Liz is just 5 years older than I am. She is a great mom and I just adore her. Dad loves to dance but Lis did not know how to dance. She ask me to teach her so she could surprise dad by asking him to go dancing with her. I would practice dancing with her when I got home from school until dad got home from work. Sometimes when my husband and I go to carry his kids to their moms, when it's time to say goodbye, they don't want to hug me but they hug their dad. I've known them for 2 years and they are ages 4 & 6. Boy and girl. So lately, I've only been telling them bye and love you without hugging them. Is this okay? 

I have lived with him for more than 2 decades and I have always known there was something 'wrong' with him. For instance, doesn't express empathy. A few years ago, when his mother, aka my grandma died, he did not grief at all. Not even a bit. He just said "knew it was coming because of her age". And for the past 2 months, many people have been dying from the Coronavirus and I asked him what he thought about it and he said "people are dying, so what, people die everyday. Also, he doesn't have a criminal record but he has broken the traffic law many times. Once for not wearing his seatbelt, a few times for speeding and twice for running a red light. He doesn't physically hit anyone but he sometimes gets angry out of proportion. He also seems emotionally dead most of the time. He rarely smiles. 

My friend has bad anxiety sometimes. Her dad is way old school, and makes it known he is not happy with how she choose to go about things. She choose to stay with her boyfriend during this whole quarantine virus thing. They also want to get a place together, and thought it would be a good little trial before signing a lease together. Her dad is 100% against them staying or living together because they are not married.  I do really think this is a good thing for her because she is scared to do things on her own, and the more freedom she has the more independent she is becoming, and making more choices on her own vs them being made for her. Her dad is so beyond mad she is staying with her boyfriend. She is old enough to make the choice on her own. She is old enough to where he shouldn't say a word to her about her choices. She's not hurting anyone. She's really not doing anything wrong.  Her dad when her boyfriend is no where to be found is really nice, trys to pay for everything. When her boyfriend is around he almost threatens her not to do anything. Does things just have the wow factor.  

My parents divorced when I was 12 and recently my mom got a new boyfriend and he treats me like his own daughter and I love him like a second dad but recently my mom and her boyfriend got engaged and I am so happy for them and my mom is also pregnant with his baby. I am so excited about having a baby brother or sister but my dad told me that he didn't want my mom to get married because he did not want some man to steal me away from him and he told me how he felt and I told him that he would never replace him but he clearly does not want my mother to get remarried and have a baby because my dad thinks I will like my new family a lot more and I will pay more attention to my mother and step dad and their children and I will stop loving him How can I tell my dad that won't happen?  This is not a troll btw 

Im concerned about him. Hes always been screwed up because he has too many siblings in the home, moms an alcoholic/abusive and dads never around. A minecraft "school shooting" video 5. A video of him ******* around with a dead bloody rat on his patio 6. Two fake videos of him shooting or stabbing one of his friends in real life 7. A very racist video lol 8. A minecraft video focusing on eating feces/feces fetish. 9. A stupid movie he made. Nothing of note except he keeps swinging on his smaller brother in the chest in face 10. "Sexy fnaf boobies featuring Ballora and Baby" or some ****. Its supposed to be a horror game 11. A video about weed, posted four days ago Should i do anything? Telling his parents will make it worse. My parents dont care we have worse problems and they dont care about us.

My mom lacks patience, she's too stubborn sometimes, due to all that, she stresses me out a lot and it's hard to have rational conversation when we're trying to solve problems together. For example, she needed to make a decision and she only sees possibilities in what she has assessed. It's very difficult for me to tell her there are other options she can think about before she makes the decision such that it would be best for her. In order to explain things to her, it's often time and energy consuming since she is very narrow minded. For example, doubting the possible outcome before even asking questions or making inquiries. It's very difficult to convince her. Another thing is, if there are unexpected problems and I try to help her, although I might not tell her, I might research and try everything. She hears things from her friends and comes back to me telling to try plan A, B, C and when I know what they are and have tried and failed, she doesn't believe me and keeps being really pushy. For example, when there is a phone number that picks up from 8 to 12, I call and tell her it doesn't work, she's say things such as "it probably didn't work because you didn't call earlier, why didn't you call early" after I tried them multiple of times and did not work. She tries to pick out spots in order to fight over problems instead of solving problems and I end up yelling at her. I feel like I'm an emotional sandbag until problem is solved because she has no patience and I'm her outlet of her anxiety and insecurity. For the first time, I thought to myself that unless she dies, I won't have any good memories of her.

They are 36 and 38 and they just had their second child so that's how I know. I'm already 16 and I just got a brother lol...

So recently, my parents told me they have the need to check how much money I have saved & how much I've spent and taken out and how much I've been making bi weekly at my current job. I am in my mid 20's & I'm wondering do banks allow that? I feel forced. I am an adult I've talked to them about boundaries & invading privacy.

I recently posted a question asking if it's the right time to put our family dog down. I am 18 and I live with my single mom. It's possibly time to put my childhood dog down and I'm not sure if that's the right decision. My mother told me that we were going to put her down and it is ultimately her decision. That honestly hurt not gonna lie. My mom and I have both played major roles in taking care of her. For the past 5 years I've been her sole caregiver every night while my mom works. I am not a 5 year old who cant be reasoned with or can't grasp the idea of putting a dog down. My mom felt I was being disrespectful by wanting to hear from the vet myself and I don't think it's unreasonable to need closure from a professional. She always likes to argue "most families do blank" and was saying that with most families, the parent tells the children they are putting the dog down and there are no disagreements or questions. Does that actually happen? I agree that applies with young kids but for this circumstance I just feel like she should value my doubts. 

My grandma loved yellow roses and my other grandma loved cardinals. My grandpa likes horses and my papa loved blue jays. I would like to name my kids something that relates to these things in honor of my grandparents. Any ideas?

So I'm 18 and when I was a little boy I got sexually assaulted many times. It's changed my life forever. I told my sister about this last Summer and asked her to never tell anybody. I found out today, though, she told our other sister the same day I told her, because she was "concerned for me", even though I didn't even know she had told her. So now I'm mad at both sisters, but my friend told me I shouldn't be. So?

Yesterday my baby's father wanted to visit his 1 year old son but I told him that if he goes over to his other baby's mom house. I'm changing the locks. So, he didn't go! in fact, he actually didn't call her or text her.  now she's saying that she's going to kill him for embarrassing her for years and making a fool out of her because he gave me her address to report her to the police. She's mad only because He basically does what I tell him to do. But rumors was he cheated on me my whole entire pregnancy. I don't know. Everytime my 9 year old niece comes over she's so joyful and happy but when it's time for her to go back home she cries and never wants to leave and she doesn't want to tell us why she cries all the time. How do i get her to tell me what's wrong? She lives with her siblings, her mom and stepfather. Can you give me advice on how to get her to talk?

I recently did some research for her needs and found things out for her. For example, I found a phone number that takes calls between 8 to 12. I would call in front of her at 8:30 and they would not pick up so I suggest other methods. She claims without evidence that their hours are from 9 to 12 or tells me things such as "why didn't you call earlier and before?" even when I'm trying to help her solve problems Then I feel unappreciated, get angry, yell. This happens way too many times and I am absolutely fed up. Sometimes, I am trying to help her explore options and it's extremely draining to even convince her that there are other options. Then after yelling and fighting, if we go with the options I suggested, after wasting time and energy arguing to convince her, if the solution doesn't work quickly, then she'll flip back and forth and says things such as "if I didn't choose to go with your suggestion there would've been others" The option she would've chose would've been very inefficient misinformed decision which would hurt her. She's made poor decision before and I paid consequences for it before and she doesn't acknowledge at all. I'm the type of person who tries to straighten out the facts. She's the type of person that will say anything because she's emotional. When I try to straighten out facts because what she says is not true or completely nonsense which she says anything, she doesn't like being confronted. She likes to argue for the sake of arguing instead of scrutinizing for facts. I feel that I can't have a rational conversation with her because she triggers me to be angry all the time because she tries to fight every time. The reason we fight is because she'll emotionally say whatever that hurts me and I end up arguing with her, getting angry and yelling trying to straighten things out and she doesn't care about facts, she just wants me to be her emotional sandbag and i recently thought to myself wishing that she dies. The way I'm not going to keep myself from being sad is remembering what kind of personality she had so i have no regrets not being nicer to her.

I'm about to turn 19. I'm in college, but because of COVID, I'm with my momma at home because she's not working during the pandemic. The person is a family member. It's my sister. She's been doing this since we were kids. I think it's normal between siblings. She calls me names (weird, retarded), she yells at me (how worthless I am, that I should kill myself), she hits me (puts me in a headlock until I can't breathe), she threatens me (what she's going to do to me if I don't do what she says). I walk on eggshells. I don't want to upset her. I know if I say anything she doesn't like she's going to go off on me. It makes me really upset. I just feel like killing myself. 

She is meaner then anyone at school. No one likes her cause she is so bad. How do I get her to stop? She's 15 and I am 13. 

I've grown up with the family I've grown up with, but when I tell people what my family is like and the reactions are mixed... Like, what even is normal in a family? What are your families like, because when I (used to because I can't anymore due to the quartine) would ask people what their family was like I would compare it to me and it made me feel like my family was an unusual thing Hey I am horrible with definitions of stuff like this (I had to have a friend google bullying and explain it to me before I realized I was getting bullied at school) (I'm that dense) so I mean I've had people tell me my dad is abusive, but most people just look at me like i need my brain checked because I tend to normalize how my dad acts(I don't see him as abusive but maybe he is and I'm just dense). My abusive narcissistic dad threw away my stuffed animals, model cars, my bikes, some of my clothes, some cool display things, posters, some of my binders, and some other things. Also when I leave the house, he always comes into my room and searches through my things and goes through my trash and takes stories I write out of the trash and then takes them. He is a creepy pervert. I feel so uncomfortable around him and I hate him so much. I can't stand being in the same house as him. I'm moving out by myself in 4 months and I can't wait

I have three enemies in life and those are two of them. My father destroyed my life by enabling his wife's wicked intentions and my sister is the cruelest human ever put on earth that I know. The 3rd enemy is a wicked man my mother knew named Jim and thankful Jim has died of cancer (or as I called it Karma).

My family is not rich and now that we're in a lock down due to the virus outbreak we're unemployed and we only live paycheck to paycheck. We can't afford to buy food for our stock. Meanwhile my relatives are very well to do and they can afford to buy anything even when they're unemployed as well because they have savings. I asked my dad if he can ask help from my uncles and aunties and he said he won't do that because our problem is not theirs and they have their own lives. I asked him why not they're his siblings and he said he doesn't want to bother them. I'm feeling jealous because they have so much food while we're running out of food and we can't afford to buy enough. I'm starting to get depressed. Only the rich people can survive the lock down. I just wish we were rich😥 Should I call them and ask to help us or that's not the right thing to do? I don't know what to do anymore. I see my cousins stories on fb and instagram and they're so happy.
