Question: Is it fair for my family to go on vacation and not me? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 01:20 PM PDT I'll try to say this without detail but , my 2 brothers and dad are going to Vegas and my two brothers are 18and 17 I'm youngest. The thing is I'd have to stay home with my mother who works . My family is not the richest meaning we don't have money for stuff LIKE me wanting to go to the batting cage because I'm trying to play softball , now when I ask a lot it's no money , but there's money for 3 people to go to Vegas????? Maybe I'm just greedy but I have to stay home while they have fun and next year is softball tryouts I'm really hopeless for a scholar ship and this doesn't help me I can't do it without practice |
Question: Is my brother on the road to becoming an alcoholic? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 01:07 PM PDT To put things simply, my father is a very heavy drinker. His addiction has torn apart our family and led to fights and infidelity. My brother turned 21 earlier this month, and immediately celebrated with a drink. That's fine, of course. It's probably what I'll do when I hit that milestone as well. It's been a few weeks since his birthday, and he drinks two beers a day now. All he talks about is alcohol. He makes it a priority to always stop at the store and get beer. And when I asked him why he drank so much and told him I was worried he could turn out like our father, he got annoyed and told me that beer is good for you. (I know that it does have some health benefits, but it also has some infamous negative effects as well. Just like fast food.) Is he going down the wrong path? I'm just really worried about him. I already lost my father to alcoholism. I can't lose him too. |
Posted: 29 Jul 2018 12:39 PM PDT Every time my brother does something that warrants a yelling at, grounding, or other form of punishment, I receive all the blame and said punishment. I'm 17, my brother is 12. Back to the point: Last week, for example, my brother threw a brick through somebody's car window. Why? I have no ******* clue. He was CAUGHT ON CAMERA, though. However, for some blatantly stupid reason, my parents said "there's no way he could have done that, it was obviously you," even though the watched the security camera footage. I don't think my brother does this stuff because he's troubled (i.e. drugs, anger issue, etc.), so much as he (for reasons I can't explain) just really wants to get me in trouble With regards to the car window incident, I was grounded for almost a month and was almost forced to pay for a new window out of my own pocket until the owner said he was going to junk it anyway. |
Posted: 29 Jul 2018 12:31 PM PDT My mom is pregnant again with the fourth child. She's 45 and my dad is 55. I'm the oldest sister of three, I'm 16, second is 12 and third is 6. I'm worried for my parents, if this baby is 16 then my dad will already be 71. My dad would still have to work bc my mom is a stay at home mom. I hope I'm not being selfish, it's just that having your parents so old when you're still a teen sucks. My dad can't go on roller coasters with me already and he's probably not going to be able to play sports with my youngest sister. I overheard them talking (ik it isn't my business) but they really want a boy. I just think regardless of the sex, a baby is still a baby, there's still the years of sleepless nights, saving for college for the fourth time, driving to swimming lessons etc... I hope I'm not overthinking this. Am i being dumb and too invasive or is having a baby that late wise? |
Question: Do I have the right to feel a little sad ? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 12:03 PM PDT I'm going on my second child . I really wanted my mother to be there for me . However , she's a caregiver , and going on a short vacation with her client . They are going to visit the client's family . My mom decided to go as opposed to letting another staff go with the client . I'm just sad because she won't be there for me as her family , but she's going to visit a random family with a client . I'll be in the hospital alone basically . How should I feel better about this ? |
Question: Am I a jerk for not wanting to spend time with my dad? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 11:25 AM PDT The last time we went to his friends party it turned into a conversation about my life. What degree I should choose. I have it easy. How he begged me to be a nurse even though I had crippling anxiety since I was 17. Even my mom tells me I shouldn't be a nurse. I told him I hate when he tells people that he wished I was a nurse or done with school by now. I changed my major multiple times and now 12 credits away from an AA. I just don't like when people who never met me tell me what to do with my life. I'm tired of my family sometimes. My dad always makes me feel disappointed in myself by doing this. I know he wants the best for me but talking to his colleagues about me aggravates me. It's like if I told all my friends he was a womanizing slob who didn't pay child support while he was right there. Is it wrong that I cancel on going to functions with him because of this reason? I told him it bugs me that he makes me the subject of conversation but he sees nothing wrong with it. |
Question: All my teen does is stay in her room? Why? (Don’t day it’s normal for a teen)? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 11:23 AM PDT She's 16, and all she does is read and sleep in her room, doesn't even use her cellphone because she leaves it downstairs. She always seems emotionless. One time she didn't have any food for the whole day. She doesn't go out anymore with her friends, play tennis, or seem excited for anything anymore. This feels like it's more than "normal" teen angst. Apparently at school I learned from her friends she had a few anxiety attacks. Is she okay? |
Question: Is a fourth child at 45 too late? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 11:18 AM PDT The first child is 16, second child 12, third one 6. Partner is 55. Is it wise to have a baby? |

Question: Is my daughter growing up too fast? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 10:56 AM PDT My 13 year old daughter came to me with what she thought was a problem. She had heard her brother tell his friend on the phone that he was going to spank the monkey. She was afraid he was going to hurt an animal. OH MY GOD. How do you explain to your daughter what her brother was really going to do? I explained to her what he really meant by what he said. That is when I got a BIG SHOCK. She said "If he was going to j**k off, why didn't he just say so and then I would know what he meant". He does that all the time. I must also have a talk with my son about locking the door to his room when he does that. Is my daughter growing up way to fast. Parents, (and teenage girls) please give me some guidance? Isn't 13 to young to know about all that stuff? |
Question: Why is my mom mad at me for this? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 10:51 AM PDT So I'm in Houston and we were just hanging out and my aunt brought up that and Astros game was about to start. They asked me if I wanted to go and I said no. They asked me about seven times and I still said no. Then my cousin came and they asked him if he wanted to go with me because I wanted to go. I never said I wanted to go. I clearly said no. And my cousin said he was down to go but the thing was that I didn't want to go. So now my mom is mad at me because my cousin wanted to go but I didn't want to. How do I get her to stop being mad at me, I just didn't feel like going. |

Question: Should I uninstall youtube from my sisters phone? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 07:48 AM PDT She spends a lot of time everyday just watching a lot of random videos. I mean 4+ hours everyday. This has been going on for about a year now. My mom tried yo take the phone from her but she finds ways around that, such as using old phones we no longer use or accessing from the tv. And if my parents just tell her not to spend so much time on her phone she ignores them, or hides and watches anyway. Aside from spending too much time on her phone, I worry about the videos she watches being inappropriate for her age. She is 10, but watches a lot of vloggers who are 16-20 and of course they make jokes or talk about subjects that are way too mature for her. She also watches horror videos and then has nightmares, but won't stop anyway. Even though I think it is affecting her negatively, I am not sure it is my place to uninstall/block things for her. I am after all only her sister (I am 23 btw). But my parents are either oblivious of the workarounds she found or just don't care enough. What should I do? |
Question: Move near family vs live where you love? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 07:29 AM PDT Moved to Texas for college and Met husband 11 yrs ago. Got married and have been living in TX for 11.5 yrs now. I m from NC and always had the dream of moving back but when I met husband I stayed because his dad (who he is close to had Alzheimers and he wanted to be with his dad). My father in law may he RIP died 2 yrs ago. We have still lived in Texas because we like it here. My husband loves his job and he has great coworkers. He s from Texas and has lived here all his life. I like it here but I miss my family. I come from a big family and have 4 brothers and sister and cousins who have kids same age as our sons. We have an 11 yr old and a 10 month old baby. I want to move there because I want my boys to grow up with family . We have NO family here. My mother in law lives 25 mins from us and she never comes over unless we invite her (which is good I guess in a way cause shes not too nice with me but it sucks because she never makes effort to invite us over or anything and it does hurt my feelings cause I wish she was more family friendly ) . My mother in law watches our baby 2 or 3 days a week when I work. We pay her but she is greedy and manipulative with my husband. I know she doesn t like me and maybe that s why she doesnt come over but regardless shes family. My older son is not my husband "biological " son but my husband has raised him as his own since my son was 1.5.yrs old. One of the reasons I didnt stress the moving subject was because my sons "bio dad" lives |

Question: What do I do about my family situation? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 07:00 AM PDT I ma young teen living with my two parents and two brothers, And I feel very conflicted. My Family doesn t have much money at all (sometimes we have to last on $5 for a whole week) and our house is very messy. This makes me very upset and I ve told my parents this, and some ways I think would help our family, but nothing changes. Also my brothers spend all day on their electronics and when anyone asks them to help out they make excuses for not doing it and they are very disrespectful to our mom they aren t awful to her but they talk back and complain when she yells saying "that she shouldn t do that". I love my Family, but the way I m living makes me sad. What do I do? |

Question: My dad threw a plate at me. Idk what to do? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 04:18 AM PDT My dad was picking up my sister @ her bf's&they went to get food so when they got here I was annoyed they didn't give me large fries n coke when they got my sister that&yh but whatever&they didn't remove tomato on my burger yh I was lowkey annoyed but like whatever&I said somethinng (I don't remember what but just a single word)&my sister sighs or whatever but whatever it was I said I didn't mean it, I said it more in a sarcastic tone&my dad n sis is like 'wtf is your problem' &I'm like nothing& he calls me idiot or something idk and I call him 'fkn swine' or whatever I said and I remove the tomato from my burger and throw it to the table and put burger on the plate to go downstairs and as I'm about to get up he takes his hand from under the plate and throws it up at my face or whatever & I got food sorta all over the shirt and glasses and now I can't stop crying. I did not see it coming but before when we were younger he'd push us to the beds and throw pillows and his voice get all angry. Later I learned how to stand up for myself and when he fights with my sister and mom I help stand up for them too. Once when my dad and I was fighting I got a call from grandma and her being all mad telling me to stop and that I should respect my parents and according to her it's like they don't have to respect me back just because I'm still a child or whatever and I think it's stupid. Maybe this is no big deal idk? But I rly don't know what to do because I'm done being treated like **** |
Posted: 29 Jul 2018 03:26 AM PDT ... that his wife and daughter made. He is the only celiac in the family and insists that none of the kids have it (though I suspect my boyfriend might have some issues with gluten as he has some celiac-like symptoms and doesn't look real healthy). They bake with flour at home, unlike us. My boyfriend's dad told me later on that he really believes that my dad is missing out due to mom's and my gluten free diet and it's a bit unfair for him. My dad was not impressed by this father's actions and insisted that Mom and I are not being unfair to him by keeping the house mostly gluten free. He thought this man's actions and what he said about mum and I depriving dad should make me assess more carefully whether or not my boyfriend is a keeper. What are your thoughts. I like my BF very much but it seems that his dad has got some issues... The homemade bread was not gluten free btw. They use wheat flour in the house. We don't. The BF's father has been gluten free since 1988. He really dislikes the wide availability of gluten free foods these days and feels 'exploited' by it, or so he says. |
Posted: 29 Jul 2018 03:06 AM PDT He did it too us when we were kids which I accept as something many parents do but 15 is too old and it's all because she gave away some school books rather than sell them on. I also feel a lot for her because she was wearing a thong which I didn't want to see but to me that makes the experience more embarrassing. I have been spending extra time with her since but she seems really upset |

Question: My neighbour walked in on me masturbating what can I do? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 02:46 AM PDT My parents had gone out for you day and when they go I usually get naked and sometimes end up masturbating. Because I had the whole house to myself I decided to masturbate in the kitchen where the back door is. As I was masturbating my neighbour who is a 53 year old man just walked in the door. He stared at me for a bit then left and put his hand to his face. I'm not sure what to do about this. Was he maybe even being a paedophile? My parents don't know I can't tell them or they'll think I'm a freak |
Question: Is it weird that my dad sleeps in my bed when I’m not home . ?? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 01:18 AM PDT So recently I have been spending the night most ***** at my boyfriends house. Which my parents know about and are fine with , I'm 18. But recently I have been coming home and seeing things in my room different from now I left them. At first I noticed small things, like things I had left plugged in would now be unplugged for me (like phone charger), but then the last few nights I noticed the sheets on my made bed would now be messed up, or even shoved off to one side, pretty clear to me someone is sleeping in there. I'm not surprised that my dad would start sleeping in my room when I'm not there, because he has been sleeping on the couch for over a year , and it's hot summer and my room has very nice air conditioning unlike the living room. However I find it strange that he never mentioned it? He didn't ask if he could stay in my room when I was out for the night or tell me he was sleeping in my bed which seemed weird to me. Maybe I wanna wash my sheets now Lol. I didn't think too much of it until my boyfriend made a big deal about it saying it was really weird , and now he doesn't want to lay in my bed with me knowing my dad was sleeping in there the night before. Is it weird ?? Like why u sleeping in someone else's bed without TELLING them ???? |
Posted: 29 Jul 2018 12:47 AM PDT When my daughter was only 12, she had sudden bathroom issues. The doctor said her vaginal opening was TWICE the size of the average child's. She said no more than that. My daughter has abnormal bleeding so she went to the doctor again today. This doctor said she shows signs of sexual abuse. Now — this physical issue goes back almost four years ago, around October as a 7th grader. I recall her being in obvious distress and crying, but again, anyone would worry about a physical issue — besides, being 12 years old is a very hormonal stage so I did not worry much. Obviously, the second doctor said more than the first one...my daughter insists that she was never abused and gets frustrated if the topic is brought up. We are looking further into screening and exams on this. Although it might be unlikely and she won't like it, should I still consider that it's a possibility? |
Question: I really need a mature answer? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 12:36 AM PDT So yestersday i spoke to my elder sister .during our conversation she told me that she had a nightmare about my father passing away..on the next night shr had anothet nightmare about us having an accident..the 3rd night had a dream about us going to a party to a friend's house..and concidentally, that girl friend recently changed her profile picture on whatsapp ( a pic with her mum) and the weird part is that she never puts pictures of her mum..okay And today while i was going to tuition my dad randomly asked us who had open the gate and while joking around he told ohh i though our dog had hands..however afterwards he told us ohh our dog would not go out ..and out of nowhere he told " our dog will have an accident if he goes on the road..why mention accident he never says such things..i ignored it..but when i came back from tuition my mother was cleaning with a detergent suddenly told wait let me clean it before you have an accident on your shirt.. Question: Why am I so much taller than my mom? shouldn't I be short 10 points? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 09:55 PM PDT My mom is barely 5 feet and I'm not sure about my dad as I don't know him, but how did I turn out 5'10, was it purely thanks to my fathers side? |
Question: How to deal with a mother who favors one sister over another? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 09:51 PM PDT my mom has always favored my sister more then me. when were out to eat my mom will pay her way and not mine. during this last year my mother gave both my brother and sister $100 each and only gave me $60. I supported myself by the age of 16 but at the age of 19 I moved back in with her for a small amount of time and I was expected to pay my way with food rent ect. and have my own necessities my sister at 19 can spend all her money on bull for herself and still have her way paid. when my sis graduated she was given a 6,000+ party. I wasnt able to graduate because I had a child and had to drop out because I had zero help but I received my GED with very high scores. I didn't have to study or take GED classes. I was very proud of myself i wasnt hoping for a extravagant party but maybe a family dinner would have been nice instead I barely received an acknowledgement and a congrats from her. I know paying my way and not getting luxurious gifts is just life it bugs me because it makes me feel horrible. it hurts seeing my mom pulling $20 out to give to my sister for dinner and not give me a second thought. it hurts watching her call my sister beautiful and me not. I try my hardest to get my mom to like me I've babysat my brother since I was 12 and kept her house **** and span when I lived with her. to this day if she asks me to watch my brother I will do it even though I'm at the point of telling her to ask my sister for help. |

Question: I honestly hate my parents so much? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 09:36 PM PDT I've never liked them. They've always been so mean and people say I'm being ungrateful but am I really?I remember being 11 and for no reason at all my dad yelled at me for 5 Mins straight saying that no one likes me,likes talking to me, seeing me, etc. when i was 12 my mom told me When she kills herself it's myself fault. They have straight up told me they don't like me. I have three other siblings and they're sooo nice to them and it's just me they hate. They've slapped me, thrown objects, grabbed me violently, called me names, So much unbelievable stuff and I hate it so much. Today I heard them saying I'm a dumbass, I'm their least favorite child, I'm lazy and ungrateful, etc. I'm not even doing anything to them, I'm just a regular teen, I just turned 14 |
Question: It it legal to drive a car in reverse down a neighborhood street ? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 09:11 PM PDT In past week I have noticed this twice after getting home from work. I saw out my front window a ricer type car stopped in the middle of the street then they drove in reverse really fast then put it in drive and floored it. I noticed the same thing tonight when I got home. Is this a new trend or something ? I'm concerned as there are younger kids that play in the streets more often with it being summer an all. |
Question: Parents Hate Each Other (Forced Marriage) WHAT DO I DO?? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 08:39 PM PDT Don't really know where to start, all around terrible situation. Going to give some background. My parents are Indian and were married there, chosen by their parents to each other. They have never loved each other, and that has been obvious to me my whole life. Recently it has gotten worse. I am not 17 years old. My parents havent slept in the same room for about 3 years now. My dad and mom don't say a word to each other. For example, if my dad wants my mom to get the car wash, he'll text me and say "text your mom to get the car washed". They dont speak AT ALL to each other. There is a huge problem. I've overhead my parents arguing before, and my dad said that when I left the house to go to college next year, he's going to kick her out and send her back to India. I have no idea what to do. My sister is 21 and already in college, and I feel like she doesnt care that much. I have one year to leave the house. What the heck do I do???? My dad is pretty succesful, he's a medical school professor, has a really good job, and is well respected in the community. My mom has been a stay at home mom for her whole life. When I leave, I know theres basically no chance that they will live together after, so what will my mom do? Forgot to add, my dad is very degrading towards my mother. When he does say anything to her, its offensive and degrading. I'm so confused as to what to do... I have one year before I leave and I know as soon as I leave my mom is as good as gone... |
Question: Do I say anything on her birthday? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 08:08 PM PDT This girl and I have known each other for 15 years. I'm 27, her 27th birthday is next week. We've always called each other "sister" or "sis" and I am her sons' Godmother and "aunt". At least, I was. Back in February, we had a falling out when a mutual friend decided to make OUR business, her business and create drama between her and I...resulting in her saying some really awful things about me. Among these awful things, she claimed I didn't even feel like her friend anymore. We didn't talk for a month until I finally broke down and apologized for upsetting her and the fact that she thought I was all those things. I mentioned apologizing to her mutual friend, too, and how we were okay. She said she forgave me, but made no effort to apologize to me or admit that she was wrong. Back in May, my best friend moved in with my "sister" and in order to hang out with my best friend, I had to go over to their house (my "sister" and her kids live with her boyfriend [who is not the father of her kids]). Every time I was over, my "sister" and her boyfriend would basically put me and my best friend down and made us feel bad about ourselves. They'd never acknowledge their flaws or faults, they made it seem like THEY were perfect and we weren't. Something happened almost 2 months ago, that my bestie and I considered "the last straw" so I helped my bestie move out and we haven't talked to them since. Next week is my "sister" 's birthday. Should I wish her a happy birthday? Would it be petty not to? Normally, I would message her "Happy birthday sis! I love you sooooo much! Have an awesome day!", but now I think I might post on her wall just "Happy birthday!!!!!" I feel bad because I know this isn't her. She's miserable with her boyfriend, but won't leave him because she has nowhere else to go. She would rather side with him about everything, even if she disagrees, to prevent from losing a place to live. If she left him, we'd be okay. |

Question: I m 21 and still living with my incredibly strict parents.? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 07:45 PM PDT I mean they re so strict that I m not permitted to walk around my own block without my sister. I m overmelmed with frustration and honestly bitterness towards them sometimes. I m supposed to be living at home for college, but my mom is trying to push me to postpone going so i can "spend time and make memories with her" i don t have a job and she doesn t seem to want to allow me to get one. I don t know how to drive since she never taught me, and i don t even have my birth certificate or social security card, she holds onto those. I know that she s just trying to protect me from the world, but i feel smothered and have told her this countless times, to which she says I m ungrateful. Am i? |
Posted: 28 Jul 2018 07:21 PM PDT For example, if he has a cousin in jail, and that cousin is a third cousin, i.e. someone that won't be acknowledged in the "survived by" portion of the embarrassed person's obituary. If a mother has a son who's in jail, THAT'S embarrassing. But third cousin, cousin through six degrees of separation, and so forth, I don't see anything embarrassing about that. So, if someone tells a relative "don't mention our incarcerated cousin in front of [so 'n do]" when that cousin is not immediate family, is he overreacting? |
Question: Help.... I hate my sister...? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 07:11 PM PDT My sister is the worst and my complete opposite... She is messy and gross. She's hateful, rude, and can be I'm type A, perfectionist and organized. They say that your siblings will become your best friends but honestly ever time I try to reach out to try to have a relationship with her... She just makes it so hard. I was thinking about moving to the other side of the country with my fiancé to start a family (by both of our parents) but I would just feel bad for abandoning her. She can just be so toxic and she ends up hurting my feelings, us getting into fights, etc. Now I'm not saying that it's all been bad which is why I can still say I love her and why it would be hard to make any permant moves... I know there really isn't a question in here but I'm just looking for advice. |
Question: How can I explain to my dad that I don’t want to spend all day with my extended family? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 07:00 PM PDT I'm an introvert, and today my dad and I had dinner with my extended family. Since they're family, they obviously asked me a bunch of annoying questions about my life, and I was obviously kinda bothered by that as an introvert. There were also a lot of young children in my extended family who were honestly kind of annoying. Tomorrow EVERYONE in my extended family is going to the zoo, and my dad wants me to go as well. I wouldn't mind going to the zoo since I haven't gone in a long time, but I dread the thought of spending the entire day day with my extended family when only spending a few hours for dinner already drains my social/mental energy. When I tried to explain all this to my dad, he just thought that I'm all of a sudden antisocial, even though I'm not. How can I explain this to him without him being to close-minded about me being an introvert? |

Posted: 28 Jul 2018 05:37 PM PDT He is enemies with my Mom's family so he resents me seeing them. I am an adult living out on my own though. I frequently see people, or a person, complain of his or her mother doing this and mine was the same way some. However, my Mom grew up and now my Dad does it and is the bitter one. He hates his in-laws cause one is an adult bully and the others due to a financial thing. The financial thing was my Dad's fault. The bully sister-in-law of my Dad's I can see him being frustrated with, However, I don't believe in family estrangement. |

Question: My mom only calls me for money issues? Posted: 28 Jul 2018 03:33 PM PDT I am 25 and the oldest of 6 and my mom literally only reaches out to me for money. I never contact her anymore because she's going to ask for money. Our conversations usually start with her asking me what I'm doing to which I reply nothing bc it doesn't matter. She then goes on about how she has a problem due to lack of funds and she insists that I send her money. She never does this with my siblings and shed much rather spend her money on weed. My sister refers to me as "mom's bank"and Its been bothering me so much lately. I mostly give her money bc I have 3 siblings under 18 and I don't want them to suffer bc they have a lazy mother.I want to speak to her about it but IDK how to bring it up. Im not rich and I'd love to have a normal conversation with my mom for ONCE! She's not a very reasonable/rational person. How can I start this convo? |
