| Question: Would having a weekday wedding on the day we got together seem like a bad idea? Posted: 05 Apr 2018 09:31 PM PDT We got together on Valentines Day, not because it was Valentine's Day but because that's just how it happened. I really want to suggest to my fiancé to have a weekday wedding because feb. 14th is on a Thursday for the year we are planning to get married in (2019). We are planning on having a small wedding. I don't want to seem rude by making people come on a weekday, but at the same time I think it would be lovely if we could get married on a day of significance as opposed to whenever we are free. What are all the ways this is a bad idea? |
| Question: Would you attend the "party"? Posted: 05 Apr 2018 07:18 AM PDT We were invited to a wedding reception via a third party. We know the groom somewhat, and the bride even less. We don't see the couple very often. When we do, it's only at church or church events. I'm good friends with the groom's mother, whom we see regularly. The groom called our son's Godparents to invite us because he didn't have our phone number. He and I are Facebook friends, but no one has said anything directly to us about it. I don't know if they sent out invitations to anyone, but supposedly the wedding is on Saturday followed by a "party" at the park. To me, it feels like too "by the way", and there's really so much housework need to catch up on. My husband will probably want to go, though. We haven't really talked about it given how we received the invitation, if you can even call it that. So my question is: would you attend the reception in this circumstance? If so, what about a gift? I've been taught to never go empty handed, but given how laid back and last minute it all seems, I don't know what would be appropriate. |
